He was born in Brockton, Mass., and moved to this area nine years ago from Massachusetts. He was a construction framer, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a member of DAV Chapter 67, Brooksville, and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; a son, Paul Rene Coty of Massachusetts; three daughters, Tonya Mola and Ronda Savino, both of Massachusetts, and Betty Jean Lawson of Brooksville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Joseph W. Pongratz, 78, of Timber Pines, Spring Hill, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at
Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 11 years ago form Chicago Ridge, Ill. He retired from helicopter maintenance for Chicago Helicopter Airways. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; a son, James Pongratz of Hudson; two daughters, Kathleen Johnson of Orland Park, Ill., and Joanne Fife of Bolingbrook, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Egan of Orland Park and Doris Loftus of Acworth, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Muriel C. Stevenson, 82, of Spring Hill, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Alterra Sterling House, Spring Hill.
She was born in New Haven, Conn., and moved to this area 21 years ago from South Bound Brook, N.J. She was a member of the YMCA of Spring Hill and the Enrichment Center at Oak Hill Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Robert H. of Collegeville, Pa.; two daughters, Linda S. Costello of Rockford, Mich., and Amy J. Zambrowski of Flemington, N.J.; a brother, Herbert Clausen of Ormond Beach; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Elvira "Ita" Gonzalez Tostado, 82, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at her home.
She was born in Tepatitlan, Mexico, and moved to this area two years ago from Washington. She was a homemaker, a Tertiary Carmelite, Order of Mount Carmel Catholic Women's Guild in California, and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Traditional Roman Catholic Church, Tampa.
Survivors include her daughter, Belinda Trough of Brooksville; a brother, Daniel Gonzalez of Mexico; four sisters, Maria Franco of Los Angeles, Calif., Magdalena De La Torre, Carmen Franco and Teodora Gonzalez, all of Mexico; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Florence M. Balatsos, 77, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Evergreen Woods Health Care Center.
She was born in Belleville, N.J., and moved to this area 14 years ago from Kearny, N.J. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastern Star in New Jersey.
Survivors include a son, Chris of Spring Hill; a daughter, Judy Gugliemi of North Arlington, N.J.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

H. Russell Haase, 80, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area seven years ago from Sarasota.
Mr. Haase owned a real estate agency in Suffolk County, Long Island, N.Y., and served as a public servant with the Suffolk County Government for many years in New York. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his brother-in-law, Robert Aviano of Patchogue, N.Y.; a niece, Theresa Giocobbi of Spring Hill; a nephew, Robert Aviano Jr. of Rochester, Vt.; and fiancé, Christina McCallum of Spring Hill.

Victor "Vic" Cyr, 83, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Fort Kent, Maine, and moved to this area 15 years ago from Connecticut.
Mr. Cyr was a World War U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Elks and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include a son, John Cyr of Bristol, Conn.; a sister, Patricia Hoyt of Brooksville; a brother, Robert Cyr of Chipley; three grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Albert L. Rasmussen, 96, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2007.

Jeannine F. Laplante, 67, of Brooksville, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. She was born in Drummondville, Canada, and moved to this area three years ago from Phoenixville, Pa.
Mrs. Laplante was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society Club, Brooksville. She was a Christian by faith and a member of Church in the Wildwood.
Survivors include her husband, Yvon B.; two daughters, Diane Laplante and Manon Perkins, both of Pottstown, Pa.; a son, Mario Laplante of Pottstown; several brothers and sisters; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lorraine Conley, 71, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Oak Hill Hospital. She was born in Hartford, Conn., and moved to this area 35 years ago from St. Petersburg.
Mrs. Conley was a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary of Spring Hill, DAV Ladies Auxiliary 67, and St. Theresa Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Edward; two sons, Edward R. Conley of Port Charlotte and Robert J. Conley of Spring Hill; two sisters, Mildred Roman of Hartford, Conn., and Wanda Kivney of Spring Hill; a brother, Edward Washer of Wethersfield, Conn.; and four grandchildren.

Arthur H. Boehling, 84, of Ridge Manor West, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007 at Brooksville Regional Hospital. He was born in Bayonne, N.J., and moved to this area 28 years ago from Old Bridge, N.J.
Mr. Boehling was a member of First Lutheran Church of Ridge Manor West, where he was chairman of the Worship and Music Committee, past choir member and organist. He was secretary of Ridge Manor West Crime Watch, past president of AARP Charter Ridge Manor West Community Club, past secretary of Kiwanis District 37 Election Board and served in many other Ridge Manor West community projects. He worked for SunTrust Bank as a security guard for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Donald A. Boehling of Bushnell; a sister, Emilie Christie of South Carolina; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Felix A. Robles Jr., 44, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to this area 37 years ago from Puerto Rico.
Mr. Robles was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father, Felix A. Robles of Deltona; his mother, Raquel Diaz of Barranquitas, Puerto Rico; his fiancée, Bobbie-Jo Yap; a daughter, Shannon Rae Robles of Oakland, Calif.; soon to be newborn daughter, Lupita Raquel Robles; two sons, Stanley and Daniel Robles, both of Brooksville; two brothers, Raymond Robles of Laredo, Texas, and Jose Robles of Miami; and a sister, Audrey Robles of Barranquitas.

Ms. Yurkiewitz was a homemaker and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Stanley and Henry; and two sisters, Laura and Genny.

Margaret A. Fries, 82, of Brooksville, died Friday, May 21, 2004 at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Melrose Park, Ill., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Hoffman Estates, Ill. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Spring Hill.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas and Raymond Fries, both of Clermont; a daughter, Constance Mesko of Hoffman Estates, Ill.; a brother, Leonard Bartels of Hillside, Ill.; two sisters, Mildred DiMarzio of Lombard, Ill. and Marily Hillier of Bellwood, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Laurel Helen Curtis, 40, of Nobleton, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004 at Tampa General Hospital.
She was born in New Milford, Conn. and moved to this area 10 years ago from Seminole. She was co-owner of Hale's Liquor in Brooksville and of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald; a daughter, Christine Curtis of Nobleton; her father, John Hannan Sr. of Pennsylvania; two brothers, John Jr. and Keith, both of New York; and a sister, Cynthia Hannan of Orlando.

Rollin Edwin Miers, 78, of Brooksville, died Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Greensburg, Ind. and moved to this area 10 years ago from Manatee County. He retired from Dupont after 32 years as an argicultural chemist doing chemical research and development of agriculture fertilizers and foods. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was Christian by faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Ruth Elaine, of Brooksville; two sisters, Nettie Schroeder of Indianapolis, Ind., and Lillie Hudson of Kissimmee.

Eileen Faith Harp, 58, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton. She was born in Eustis.
Ms. Harp was a graduate of Florida State University and was a teacher for more than 20 years.
Survivors include her son, Osa Harp; daughter, Jessica Bennett; brother, Henry Zaleski; and six grandchildren.

Etta M. Lairson, 79, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. She was born in Lexington, Ky., and moved to the area 14 years ago from Louisville, Ky.
Mrs. Lairson was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Albert; son, A.J., of Old Town; sister, Aretas White, of Louisville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Jesse Raymond Zentner Jr., of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh and moved to the area in 1992 from Greensburg, Pa.
Mr. Zentner served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Guam. He was a Protestant and a member of the Cruisers Car Club.
Survivors include his sisters, Thelma Lucas, of Pittsburgh, and Geraldine Versetti, of Margate.

William Thomas Varley, 76, of Brooksville, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at his home. He was born in Woodbury, N.J., and moved to this area 36 years ago from Tampa.
Mr. Varley was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service, having served in the Korean conflict and Vietnam War.
Survivors include a son, Michael Varley of Spring Hill; a daughter, Joan Haggerty of Brooksville; and two sisters, Rita Lezenby of Lakeland and Nancy Bauman of Texas.

Benjamin A. Brinkofski, 85, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Jersey City, N.J., and moved to this area 27 years ago from Woodbridge, N.J.
Mr. Brinkofski was a retired Human Resources manager for Schering & Plough Pharmaceutical Company. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Hildegard; two sons, Benjamin and Robert, both of Indiana; a daughter, Elaine of Indiana; and two grandchildren.

Edson E. Hill Jr., 66, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at his home. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved to this area 10 years ago from East Aurora, N.Y.
Mr. Hill was a retired social work for the State of New York. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, East Aurora, and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Hilda Hill of Lackawanna, N.Y.; a stepson, Crombie David Nicol of Spring Hill; a sister, Mary Ryman of Missouri; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Kerstein was a retired process engineer with Ford Motor Company, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Forest Oaks Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charmian; three sons, Edward M. of Richmond Hill, Ga., William C. of Safety Harbor and Richard J. of Fort Walden Beach; four daughters, Natalie Kovacs of Tennessee, Susan Bahm of Pinkney, Mich., Dorothy Helmreich of Bay City, Mich., and C. Janet Midkiff of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the Hernando County Builders Association, a Mason, and a charter member 28 and deacon of Northcliffe Baptist Church, Spring Hill.
