Ossi Maiwald, 64, of the Wellington, Spring Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at home. He was born in Berlin, Germany, and moved to this area recently from Long Island, N.Y. He was a member of Butchers Union USCW Local No. 174 and a Lutheran by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; two daughters, Petra Feil and Mandy Celt, both of Spring Hill; a half-sister, Gudrun Clabike of Berlin, Germany; and five grandchildren.

Gerhard J. Hoppe, 80, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Koenigsberg, Prussia, and moved to this area 18 years ago from New York. He served as a glider pilot with the Luftwaffe from 1941-1945. He retired from Fairchild Republic Company and was a member of the German American Club and the Air Force Association.
Survivors include his wife, Vera; two sons, Ralph B. of Prisser, Germany, and Wolfgang S. of Fort Walton Beach; a stepson, Michael Renner of Spring Hill; a brother, Hans Georg Hoppe of Luebeck, Germany; a sister, Ursula Loebell of Stockelsdorf, Germany; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Joyce M. Degl, 62, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, Hudson.
She was born in Waycross, Ga., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Jacksonville. She owned and operated the Suncoast Travel Agency since 1982 in Hudson. From 1990, she went on to manage Kimberly Travel in Port Charlotte for several years before retiring.
Survivors include her husband, Paul; three sons, Mitchell Hoover, Marvin Hoover and Lester Wells; a daughter, Darlene Hoover; three stepdaughters, Dawn DiMango, Dana Ceglinski and Diane Stearns; her mother, Eula Mae Clark; three sisters, Margie Foskey, Linda Hendricks and Anna Rougas; two brothers, Roy Bennet and David Clark; and 11 grandchildren.

Marion J. Koslowski, 97, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Higganum, Haddam, Conn., and moved to this area eight years ago from Long Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker and attended St. Theresa Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include her daughter, Marion John Kienast of Spring Hill; two sisters, Sophie Pannick of Dunedin and Helen Kania of Middletown, Conn.; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Kirby Lee Hopkins, 50, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Brooksville.
Mr. Hopkins worked for the City of Brooksville as a heavy equipment operator and was Pentecostal by faith.
Survivors include his companion, Vickie Tillis; a stepdaughter, Charlene Rehurek of Brooksville; two brothers, Roy Hopkins Jr. of Brooksville and Frank Collier of Cleveland, Tenn.; a sister, Barbara Batten of Brooksville; and two stepgrandchildren.

William J. Buckner, 73, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007 at his home. He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and moved to this area three years ago from Port Richey.
Mr. Buckner was a college maintenance technician, a U.S. Army veteran, a VFW member, a volunteer and past president of the Fireman’s Association, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; four sons, Brian, Billy, Dusty and David; four daughters, Barbara, Debbie, Tammy and Laura; a sister, Ruth; 25 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Rita Yold, 86, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice House, Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville. She was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to this area 24 years ago from Los Angeles, Calif.
Mrs. Yold was a retired administrative assistant for Forbes magazine and a Corporal in the Women’s Army Corps, having served in the Pentagon and Papua, New Guinea.
Survivors include her husband, William “Billy”; and two nieces, Beth Ann Butera and Susan Miller.

Sheila Jean Hamilton, 42, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Oak Hill Hospital. She was born in Suffux, England, and moved to this area 26 years ago from Tampa.
Ms. Hamilton was a volunteer at the SPCA.
Survivors include her companion, Rick; a daughter, Teresa Boyette; her mother, Beverly; maternal grandmother, Nadine; three sisters, Katherine, Patty and Jackie; and four grandchildren.

Angel Martinez, 90, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Puerto Rico and moved to this area 13 years ago from Tampa.
Mr. Martinez was a restaurant chef, a World War II and Korean War U.S. Army veteran and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his son, Angelo of Spring Hill; and 10 grandchildren.

Mitchell M. Konarski, 86, of Brooksville, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007 at his home. He was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved to this area three years ago from Charlotte, N.C.
Mr. Konarski was a Christian by faith and attended Elderhostels where he performed as a singer.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; three sons, Beirne Konarski of Collierville, Tenn., Jan Konarski of Granville, Ohio, and Mitchell Konarski of Akron; a daughter, Michele Clifton of Chandler, Ariz.; a stepson, Charles Josh; and a stepdaughter, Kathleen Josh Adkins.

Elizabeth G. Mitten, 75, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital. She was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to this area 12 years ago from Long Island, N.Y.
Mrs. Mitten was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; a son, John Guido of Long Island, N.Y.; two daughters, Doreen Cooper and Veronica Ratigan, both of Spring Hill; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Ronald F. Latz, 76, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in North Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Waukegan, Ill. He worked as a supervisor for West Vaco Envelope Co. for 42 years, was an avid golfer, loved gardening, was a member of Springwood Estates Crime Watch, served in the U.S. Army, and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret J. of Spring Hill; a son, David A. of Beach Park, Ill.; a daughter, Annette J. Watkins of Altamonte Springs; two brothers, Clifford of Mundelein, Ill., and Eugene of Lindenhurst, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

Samuel R. Block, 74, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004 under the care of Hospice in Brooksville.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and came to this area 25 years ago from Queens, N.Y. He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Church. He retired as a youth counselor for HRS with the state of Florida, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council, Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge No. 521, Elks Lodge, Cortez Blvd, Brooksville. He also enjoyed playing golf and coaching youth sports.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia of Spring Hill; sons, Richard of New Smyrna Beach, and Robert of Rockland County, N.Y.; daughter Patricia Gillespie of Rockaway Beach, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Frederick Benzeno, 52, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004.
He was born in Jamaica, Queens, N.Y. and came here three years ago from Bayshore, Long Island, N.Y. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and NASCAR.
Survivors include wife Patricia; daughter, Candice Benzeno; sons, Ryan Benzeno, Justin Benzeno and Shawn Benzeno; mother, Adalaide Benzeno; sisters, Beverly Mahalick, Carolyn Dean, all of Spring Hill; son, Frederick Benzeno, brother, Karl Benzeno, sisters, Marie Torrey, all of New York and Betsy Lindau of Spring Hill and New York; one grandson; 52 nieces and nephews; and 46 great nieces and nephews.

Paul Carter Hughes, 26, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Killeen, Texas, and moved to this area seven years ago from St. Petersburg.
Survivors include his daughter, Camryn Hay of Spring Hill; his father, Brittin Hughes of Middletown, Ohio; his mother, Cindy Buday of Spring Hill; paternal grandmother, Millie Weisel of New Jersey; maternal grandmother, Mary Joyce Gatches of Brooksville; a sister, Jacquelyn Baxter of Spring Hill; and an aunt, Pamela Gatches-Fort of Brooksville.

Joseph L. Grossman, 75, of Spring Hill, died Monday, May 31, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Hudson, N.Y., and moved to this area five years ago from Spring Valley, N.Y. He was a retired schoolteacher, having taught at Spring Valley High School and Rockland County Community College, New York. He was a Korean conflict U.S. Air Force veteran, a member and past treasurer of the Hernando Aero Modelers Club, and a Christian by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian; a son, Joe Grossman Jr. of Port Richey; a stepson, Stephen Bolchazy of Spring Hill; three daughters, Diane Smith of Hudson, and Georgianna Perez and Jodi Fletcher, both of Port Richey; a stepdaughter, Debra Wicke of Tomkins Cove, N.Y.; and 10 grandchildren.

Lee Dugger, 84, of Brooksville, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Sanderson and moved to this area two years ago from Jacksonville.
Mr. Dugger was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the European Theatre including Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Dugger Nichols of Brooksville; a son, David Dugger of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Doris James of Callahan and Sally Silva of Jacksonville; two grandsons; two great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Stephen W. Yunka, 90, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at his home. He was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to this area 24 years ago from Floral Park, N.Y.
Mr. Yunka was a retired vice president for Ogden/Allied Maintenance, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; a son, Mark of Spring Hill; and three grandchildren.

Julia Egyed, 77, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007 at her home. She was born in Herend, Hungary, and moved to this area 19 years ago from Clifton, N.J.
Mrs. Egyed was a member of the Spring Hill Hungarian Club and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Emry of Clifton; three daughters, Katherine Hebert of Spring Hill, Marion Sause of Lake George, N.Y., and Silvia Egyed of Odessa; three brothers, Bela of Spring Hill, and Emil and Janos, both of Hungary; two sisters, Teri and Mari, both of Hungary; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Allen B. Roberts, 87, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007 at Atria Evergreen Woods, Spring Hill. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area several years ago from Chicago.
Mr. Roberts was a photo engraver in the printing industry.

Alexander N. “Alex” Civello, 69, of Weeki Wachee, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Corona, Long Island, N.Y., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Long Island.
Mr. Civello owned and operated Bi County Counseling Center, Spring Hill. He was a playwright for Off Broadway shows, developed a program for the National Maritime Union for alcohol and drug rehabilitation that was implemented nationwide, was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carmina; a daughter, Simone Civello-Myers of Pensacola; a brother, Louis Civello of Sedona, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

Brian K. Zeller, 31, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at home. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to this area 12 years ago from Bensalem, Bucks County, Pa.
Mr. Zeller was a chef at Cody’s Road House, Spring Hill, and was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his father and mother, William and Carol Zeller of Spring Hill; three sons, Dustun Zeller of Pennsylvania, and Gavin Zeller and Brison Zeller, both of Spring Hill; a daughter, Autumn Zeller of Spring Hill; a brother, Sean Zeller of Spring Hill; and a sister, Dawn Zeller of Spring Hill.

Randy A. Austin, 27, of Brooksville, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007 at Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg. He was born in Detroit, Mich., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Kalkaska, Mich.
Mr. Austin was a groundskeeper for a lawn maintenance company.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Ann Austin of Brooksville; two brothers, Joseph Modos III and Timothy Modos of Stoughton, Wis.; and a sister, Rachael Vizner of Brooksville.

William Ticineto, 84, of River Country, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa. He was born in New York and moved to the area 27 years ago from Long Island, N.Y.
Mr. Ticineto served in the U.S. Navy and Army. He retired from Pan American and was a Roman Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy.
