Mary Mathis, 76, of Brooksville, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Marion Junction, Ala., and moved to this area 57 years ago. She was a member of Allen Temple A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include three sons, William Mathis, Henry Mathis Jr. and Albert Mathis, all of Brooksville; four daughters, Idella Benjamin, Geraldine Carr, Verna Ware and Cynthia Munford, all of Brooksville; a brother, Lawrence Honor of Orville, Ala.; a sister, Bertha Mae Honor of Los Angeles, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Lindman Helvik, 93, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Aaland, Finland. She lived in Lantana for 35 years before moving to The Residence at Timber Pines, Spring Hill, three years ago. She worked in restaurants and hotels as a waitress. She was a Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, New York, and a member of the Finnish American Club.
Survivors include her son, Robert Lindman of Spring Hill; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

William Hughes, 76, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at his home.
He moved to this area 13 years ago from his native Long Island, N.Y. He was employed in management positions in the aircraft and electronics industries. He was a longtime volunteer fireman in Long Island and was active at the Stage West Community Playhouse in Spring Hill. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; and a brother, James of McLean, Va.

Franklin W. Helikson, 85, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in New Ulm, Minn., and moved to Florida 14 years ago from Lancaster, Pa. He was a mechanical engineer. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps test pilot during World War II in the China Burma India area with the Flying Tigers under General Chenault. After the war, he tested the first planes to use jet-assisted takeoff. He was a member of Glen Lakes Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie; three daughters, Carol Ramirez of Spring Hill, Marcia Anderson of San Diego, Calif., and Janice Weaver of Lititz, Pa.; two sons, Mark Helikson of Charlotte, N.C., and Scott Helikson of Cozumel, Mexico; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd J. "Junior" Blair, 75, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, in Spring Hill.
He was born in Lonake, Ark., and moved to this area 29 years ago from Adrian, Mich. He was a retired welder and a member of First Baptist Church of Weeki Wachee Acres.
Survivors include his wife, Linnie M.; a son, Darrel H. Blair of Adrian; a daughter, Debra B. Whittaker of Spring Hill; three brothers, Wilburn Blair of Adrian, Forrest Blair of Blue Springs, Mo., and Ronny Blair of Corder, Mo.; three sisters, Eva E. Spangle of Blue Springs, Lula Mae Osburn of Lone Jack, Mo., and Shirley Martinez of Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 14 nieces; 18 nephews; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Joseph Mannino, 58, of Lindenhurst, Long Island, part-time resident of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005 at his home in New York.
He was born in Palmero, Italy. He was the original proprietor of Joe's Pizza of Copiague and Islip Terrace. He was Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Mannino; three daughters, Angela, Catherine and Josephine Mannino, all of Lindenhurst; four brothers, Salvatore, Paul, Natale and Carl Mannino; three sisters, Josephine, Rosetta and Angela Mannino, all of Lindenhurst; and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph Moritsch Bertschinger, 86, of Hernando Beach, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Mainz, Germany and moved to this area 23 years ago from Springfield, Ill. He was a retired engineer and metallurgist for Fiat Allis Construction Machinery, Inc. and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Blue Lodge in Springfield as well as a past Shrine member. He was a member and served as an elder at Grace Presbyterian Church in Spring Hill and a past member and elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; a son, Jeffrey J. Bertschinger of Owenboro, Ky.; a daughter, Janice Fae Guthrie of Colleyville, Texas; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Teresa "Terry" Metzger, 89, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 at her home in Timber Pines.
She was born in Panama, Republic of Panama and came to this area 20 years ago from Orchard Park, N.Y., where she lived for 40 years. She was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church and she was a homemaker, artist, landscaper and painter.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Metzger of Palm Harbor and Richard Metzger of Wauchula; three brothers, Jack Michaelsen of Inverness, William Michaelsen of Mystic, Conn., and Fred Michaelsen of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Agnes Frye of California; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Abner Henry Hathaway Jr., 83, of High Point, Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Heartland of Brooksville.
He was born in Rockford, Ill., and moved to Florida 23 years ago from his native Rockford. He was a retired teamster truck driver for the Rockford/Milwaukee Dispatch for over 30 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army-Air Corp veteran and a member of the Hernando VFWs. He was active for 10 years in the Hernando High Point Fire Department, retiring in 1996 as assistant chief.
Survivors include his daughter, Loretta Johnson of Brooksville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his caretaker/son-in-law, Webb M. Johnson Sr. of Prattville.

Carmine Porto, 93, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, in Brooksville.
He was born in New Haven, Conn., and moved to this area 32 years ago. He was a chef for New Haven Country Club in Connecticut. He also worked in the shoe industry in Connecticut.
Survivors include his life companion, Anna Guarneri; and a niece, Ella Ricciuti-Arnold.

Albert J. "Al" Cushman, 62, of Brooksville, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to this area two years ago from Norton, Mass. He retired from Texas Instruments after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the Attleboro Foreman's Club, American Legion Post 222, Norton, Attleboro Elks Post 1014 for over 30 years, and St. Mary Catholic Church, Norton. He was the past post and district commander of AMVETS Post 1972, Norton, and volunteered at the VFW in Norton for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two sons, Larry Cushman of Attleboro and Michael Cushman of St. Petersburg; a daughter, Debra Shah of Glastonbury, Conn.; a stepdaughter, Melissa McPherson of Mansfield, Mass.; a brother, Joe Cushman of Halifax, Mass.; a sister, Arlene Pollock of Virginia Beach, Va.; and five grandchildren.

Joseph R. Dowd, 76, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to this area 14 years ago from Long Island, N.Y. He was a retired patrolman with 16 years of service to the New York Police Department, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Jude Council, NYPD Police Benevolent Association, the 10-13 Club, Long Island, and Beebe Golf Club, Spring Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; two daughters, Janet Wyckoff of Tampa and Lorraine Dowd of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Margaret Solton and Anne Bogel, both of Long Island; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert N. Cook, 75, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Kalamazoo, Mich., and moved to this area 56 years ago from North Syracuse, N.Y. He was a retired manager of Tampa Printing Company and a retired part-time employee of Pinecrest Funeral Chapels.
Survivors include his wife, Constance Mallady; two sons, Kendall E. of Gainesville, Mo., and Nicholas K. of Brooksville; a daughter, Joyce E. Braglin of Plant City; three stepsons, Carl I. Brown of Twin Lake, Mich., Kenny Griffin of Cameron, S.C., and Stuart Sweat of Tampa; three stepdaughters, Connie MaComber of Spring Hill, Gracie McGraw of Tampa and Lori Levine of Brooksville; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Richard A. "Rich" Farnworth Sr., 66, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Dec. 24, 2004 at his home.
He was born in Queens, N.Y., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Long Island, N.Y. He was a retired New York City Transit Police Department detective, member of American Legion Post No. 0186 in Brooksville, was a past member of the National Association of Retired Law Enforcement Officers and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman and a self-taught computer wiz.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Farnworth of Spring Hill; a son, Richard A. Farnworth Jr. of Brooksville; two brothers, George Farnworth of New York and John Farnworth of Florida; and one grandson.

Clark M. Wotherspoon, 71, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to this area 26 years ago.
Mr. Wotherspoon was a retired auto technician and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include seven sons, Tom C. Wotherspoon, Mike Wotherspoon, Paul Wotherspoon, David Wotherspoon, Tom D. Thompson, John Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; five daughters, Barbara Keicher, Kristina Emmanuele, Jamee Sapp, Diana Wolters and Rebecca Gentry; 21 grandchildren; and a great- grandchild.

Bernard Eugene Paquin, 80, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007. He moved to this area 50 years ago from his native South Haven, Mich.
Mr. Paquin was a retired foreman for Parrott Grassing Company. He owned and operated Paquin’s General Store. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, life member of Elks Lodge 1509, South Haven, a member of Brooksville Moose Lodge and Brooksville Jaycees and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church of Brooksville.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Paquin of Orlando; two daughters, Sandra Whitehead and Sharon McKethan; and seven grandchildren.

Dorrold Raymond Haskell, 80, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. He was born in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Mr. Haskell worked in the finance business in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in Florida. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Germany Occupational Force, Special Services. He was a Tennessee Squire, No. 8642.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; two sons, Mike and Ron; a daughter, Linda; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

James Monroe Tiller, 74, of Bushnell/Nobleton, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at his home. He was born in Jamestown, Ky., and moved to this area 10 years ago from Illinois.
Mr. Tiller was a general contractor in Oregon and Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor; a son, James R. Tiller of Dunedin; eight brothers and sisters; and several grandchildren.

Catherine Mary Lowe, 86, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice. She was born in Kingston, N.Y., and moved to this area 22 years ago from Kingston.
Mrs. Lowe was a homemaker, a member of St. Catherine Leboure, Lake Katrina, N.Y., and Ulster Hose No. 5, past president Ladies Auxiliary, and a volunteer for Fire Company.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; three sons, Harry “Bud” Lowe of Kingston, David Lowe of Spring Hill and Todd E. Lowe of Tivoli, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Millie Govedich, 90, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007 at her home. She was born in St. Anigoes, Md., and moved to this area 35 years ago from Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Govedich was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Frederick; two grandsons, Larry Govedich of Spring Hill and Steve Govedich of California; and five great-grandchildren.

Dudley J. Green, 87, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Petworth, West Sussex, England, and moved to this area 24 years ago from Rushden, England.
Mr. Green attended St Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Antoinette; two sons, Andrew Green of Irchester, England, and Stuart Green of Thurleigh, England; two daughters, Brenda Foster of Little Staughton, England, and Jane Beirn of Rushden, England; a brother, Bassell Green of Higham Ferries, England; two sisters, Blanche Brown of Heysoe, England, and Audrey of Wheaton, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Dorothy M. Young, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007. She was born in Kansas City, Mo., and moved to Florida 21 years ago.
Mrs. Young worked for the government and Paul’s Sporting Goods Store in Pontiac, Mich. She was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran. She was educated by Redemptionist priests in Kansas City, Mich., a volunteer in pastoral care for the hospitalized and a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Deanne L. Young of Tampa; two brothers, Raymond Batliner of Raytown, Mo., and Jack Batliner of Kansas City, Kan.; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Kevin Michael Greene Jr., 25, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Anna; two sons, Kevin Michael Greene III of Spring Hill and Zachary Giansiracusa of Florida; his mother, Karen LaCortiglia and stepfather, Frank LaCortiglia of Spring Hill; a brother, David Ranson of Methuen; and two sisters, Laura Warriner of Spring Hill and Kimberly Coronado of Clearwater.

Kendall P. McNeill, 71, of High Point, Brooksville, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at home.
He was born in Marlinton, W.Va., and moved to this area 12 years ago from Mattoon, Ill. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service as a jet engine mechanic, after which he spent 19 years with Coles Moultrie REC as a journeyman electric lineman.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; a son, Mark McNeill of Custer, S.D.; a daughter, Bonnie Hurt of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; his mother, Gertrude McNeill of Parkersburg, W.Va.; a brother, Bradford McNeill of Silver Springs, Md.; three sisters, Violet Connolly and Marguerite Smith, both of Parkersburg, and Pat Dooley of Bonita Springs; and two grandsons.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Spinelli of Port St. Lucie and Richard Spinelli of Suffolk, N.Y.; a daughter, Connie Cunningham of Spring Hill; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
