Emma Lou Poole, 63, of Palmetto, died June 24, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Westside Funeral Home, 704 11th St. W., Palmetto. Service will be at noon Saturday at St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church, 540 12th St. Drive W., Palmetto, with Elder Lewis Sherman officiating. Burial will be in Mansion Memorial Park, Ellenton.
Mother Poole was born in Palmetto. She was a custodial maintenance worker for Palmetto Bank and Trust. She was Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Ollie, of Palmetto, and Terry, of Bradenton; five sons, Clarence Jr., and James, both of Bradenton; Carlton, of Palmetto, Steve, of Tallahassee, and Donald, of Houston; three sisters, Delores Holloway of Palmetto, Mary Rentz of Live Oak, and Rachel Thomas of Bradenton; three brothers, Earnest Gavin of Bradenton, and Charles Gavin of Palmetto; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Ivan L. Springstead
West Branch, Mich., and Bradenton
Ivan L. Springstead, 72, of West Branch, Mich., and winter resident of Bradenton, died June 27, 2001, in Bradenton.
Service will be held in Marlette, Mich. Burial will be in Mooretown Cemetery in Snover, Mich. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1805 30th Ave. W., Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Marlette, Mr. Springstead came to Manatee County from West Branch as a winter resident since 1988. He was a retired electrician from the Detroit city school system. He attended Bethel Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; a daughter, Patricia Wiley of Holt, Mich.; three sons, Stephen, of Decker, Mich., Philip, of Portage, Mich., and David, of Farmington, Mich.; a brother, Kenneth, of Snover; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Earl Anderson
Palmetto
Earl Anderson, 67, of Palmetto, died June 25, 2001, at home.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Westside Funeral Home, 704 11th St. W., Palmetto. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Holiness with Deliverance Ministries Inc., 508 30th St. E., Palmetto, with Edler Larry Johnson Sr. officiating.
Mr. Anderson was born in Palmetto. He was a farm laborer.
Survivors include three sisters, Bettye Longino of Bradenton, Carlotta Hind of Rochester, N.Y., and Shebbie Jones of Tampa; and two brothers, James, of Bradenton, and Tom Coleman of Miami.

Alois T. Beer
Bradenton
Alois T. Beer, 78, of Bradenton, died June 27, 2001, in Blake Medical Center.
A gathering of family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the family's residence. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Southeastern Guide Dogs Inc., 4210 77th St. E., Palmetto, Fla. 34221.
Born in Monroe, Wis., Mr. Beer came to Manatee County from there in 1971. He was a general contractor for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, took part in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the Lions Club for 30 years, a member of the Anna Maria Privateers, and he was past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; a daughter, Sharon (Beer) Liebe of Shawno, Wis.; a stepdaughter, Bobby Jo Garringer of Bradenton; a son, Grant, of Holmes Beach; two brothers, Arthur, of Madison, Wis., and Fred, of Monroe; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Naomi Adeline Harpley
Palmetto
Naomi Adeline Harpley, 91, of Palmetto, died June 28, 2001, at home.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Ellenton Funeral Home, 3411 U.S. Highway 301, with the Rev. A.O. Hendry officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Carroll County, Ga., Mrs. Harpley came to Manatee County from Miami in 1962. She was a homemaker. She attended Pleasant View Baptist Church, Carrolton, Ga.
Survivors include a daughter, Nita, of Palmetto; two sons, J.D., of Ellenton, and Donald, of Palmetto; a brother, J.D. Stamps of Carrolton; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Luby James
Palmetto
Luby James, 79, of Palmetto, died June 28, 2001, in Westminster Asbury Towers.
Memorial service will be held at a later date. Ellenton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Midland, Pa., Mrs. James came to Manatee County from Binghamton, N.Y., in 1972. She was a retired registered nurse from Binghamton State Hospital. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Bradenton.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Swaney of Industry, Pa., and Mildred Urich of Medina, Ohio.

Annie Lawson
Bradenton
Annie Lawson, 96, of Bradenton, died June 28, 2001, in Westminster Asbury Manor.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 720 Manatee Ave. W. Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Thurmond officiating. Burial will be in Braden River Cemetery.
Born in Madison County, Mrs. Lawson came to Manatee County from Mayo in 1932. She was employed at Tropicana Products for 15 years. She attended Samoset Church of God.
Survivors include two daughters, Thelma Granger of Bradenton, and Joan Wilcox of Brandon; three sons, Jim B., of Lakeland, and Calvin S., and Wayne L., both of Bradenton; a sister, Marie Funderburk of Clewiston; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

Lillian V. Riche

Lillian V. Riche, 90, of Anna Maria, died June 21, 2001, at home.
Service will be held in Troy, N.Y. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Troy. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 26th Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Troy, Mrs. Riche came to Manatee County from there in 1971. She was a former auditor for the State of New York. She attended Church of the Ennunciation Episcopal Church of Anna Maria.
Survivors include two nieces.

Virginia I. Taylor Sikes

Virginia I. Taylor Sikes, 76, of Bradenton, died June 27, 2001, in Bradenton Hospice House.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 5624 26th St. W. Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronald A. Hazlett officiating. Burial will be in Pine Village Cemetery, Pine Village, Ind. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Oxford, Ind., Mrs. Sikes came to Manatee County from Pine Village in 1986. She was a retired secretary from the Child Development and Family Studies Department at Purdue University in West LaFayette, Ind. She attended Bayshore Baptist Church in Bradenton.
Survivors include her husband, Ardell "Jack"; four daughters, Cheryl Haines and Cynthia Grammer, both of LaFayette; Paulette Krieger of Danville, Calif., and Susan Wilder of Athens, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Holace H. Smith
Bradenton
Holace H. Smith, 61, of Bradenton, died June 27, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Bradenton, 1306 Fourth Ave. W., followed by a reception at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 1825 11th St. W. Brown and Sons Funeral Homes, 43rd Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 600 U.S. 301 Blvd. W., Suite 136, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Mr. Smith came to Manatee County from Las Vegas in 1976. He was an an active deputy sheriff with the Manatee County Sheriff's Department. He served in the U.S. Air Force during peacetime.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanetta M.; two daughters, Cynthia Kirkpatrick and Cathleen Sanginario, both of Bradenton; three sisters, Donna Tucker of Peterboro, N.Y., Delores Bullard of Syracuse, N.Y., and Jeanne Rodgers of St. Petersburg; three brothers; and two grandchildren.
