Emmett R. Wimpey, 83, of Bradenton, died Oct. 9, 2001, in Bay Pines Veterans Medical Center.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E., in Bradenton. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Manasota Memorial Park Rotunda, 1221 53rd Ave. E., with the Rev. Bob Green officiating, followed by military honors conducted by the U.S. Army of Fort Stewart, Ga. Entombment will be in Manasota Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Manatee/Sarasota County Chapter, 1230 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota, Fla. 34239-2601.
Born in Ellijay, Ga., Mr. Wimpey came to Manatee County from Fort Monmouth, N.J., in 1997. He was Methodist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Masons; and the Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife, Lola M.; a daughter, Linda, of Bradenton; and a son, Daniel, of Bradenton.

Florence "Junie" Wood
Bradenton
Florence "Junie" Wood, 76, of Bradenton, died Oct. 6, 2001, at home.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Covell Cremation and Funeral Center, 4232 26th St. W., in Bradenton, with Dr. Thurl Mann officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the New York City Twin Towers Survivors Fund, c/o the American Red Cross/Manatee County Chapter, 2905 59th St. W., Bradenton, Fla. 34209.
Born in Erie, Pa., Mrs. Wood came to Manatee County from Lake Havasu City, Ariz., via Titusville, in 1993. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; and the Fraternal Organization of Elks and Women of the Moose, Lake Havasu City Chapter.
Survivors include two daughters, Hedi M. Castillo and Lori Nicholson; a son, Benny Santo Pietro; a brother, Lawrence Diver; and four grandchildren.

Raymond "Ray" F. Bricker
Lake Placid
Raymond "Ray" F. Bricker, 86, of Lake Placid, formerly of Anna Maria Island, died Sept. 29, 2001, at home.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Leisure Lakes Baptist Church, 3135 School Ave., in Lake Placid. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 2121 S.E. Lakeview Drive, Sebring, Fla. 33870.
Born in Oswego, Ind., Mr. Bricker came to Manatee County from there in 1951. He was a house painter. He attended Leisure Lakes Baptist Church and he was a charter member of Island Baptist Church on Anna Maria Island. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during World War II and he was a prisoner of war for 17 months in a German prison camp, Stalag XVIIB, in Kremms, Austria. He coached the Island Little League for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Bette Rae, of Cleveland, Ga., and Caroline Hester of Dahlonega, Ga.; a son, Randy L., of Venice; a stepdaughter, Melissa Hollingsworth of Lake Placid; three stepsons, Bobby, Jerry and Chris Duncan, all of Lake Placid; a sister, Frances Hull of Port Charlotte; many grandchildren; many stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Jack E. Heltman
Holmes Beach
Jack E. Heltman, 73, of Holmes Beach, died Sept. 29, 2001, in Blake Medical Center.
There will be no service. Griffith-Cline Funeral Homes, Holmes Beach Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Born in Cincinnati, Mr. Heltman came to Manatee County from Port Huron, Mich., 11 years ago. He was retired. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Victoria Sterling of Chicago, and Janna Flessa of Cincinnati; a son, Jeffrey, of Cincinnati; and five grandchildren.

Donald R. Hiorns
Parrish
Donald R. Hiorns, 70, of Parrish, died Oct. 3, 2001, in Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bradenton.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave. E., in Ellenton, with the Rev. Robert Green and American Legion Kirby Stewart Post No. 24 of Bradenton officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the September 11 Fund, Two Park Ave., New York, N.Y. 10016.
Born in Pawtucket, R.I., Mr. Hiorns came to Manatee County from Springfield, Mass., in 1992. He was a retired chemical operator from Monsanto Corporation. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS John W. Weeks during the Korean War. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 2117 of Palmetto, Veterans of Foreign Wars Palmetto Lodge No. 2001, Elks No. 2449 of Palmetto, and American Legion Post No. 309 of Palmetto.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Donna, of Granville, Mass.; two sons, Steven W., of Brookline, Mass., and Scott F., of Springfield; and four grandchildren.

Wendy B. Mixon
Bradenton
Wendy B. Mixon, 49, of Bradenton, died Oct. 2, 2001, at home.
Visitation will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Friday at Manatee United Methodist Church, 315 15th St. E. Memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Revs. Charlotte Lewis and Neal Long officiating. Inurnment will be private. National Cremation Society, Sarasota Chapter, is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238, or to the Manatee United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 315 15th St. E., Bradenton, Fla. 34208.
Born in Syracuse, N.Y., Mrs. Mixon came to Manatee County from New York state in 1959. She was an office manager, a retail sales manager, a marketing director and the co-owner of Mixon Fruit Farms Inc. She attended Manatee United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was an alumni of Leadership Manatee, an adult leader with Manatee 4-H and a member of the Florida Gift Fruit Shippers Advisory Committee to the State Department of Citrus.
Survivors include her husband, Dean; a daughter, Lori, of Bradenton; her father, Peter K. Brown of Sarasota; and two sisters, Cindy Signorelli of Valrico, and Lindy Morgan of Atlanta.

Edward W. Norman
Tarpon Springs
Edward W. Norman, 80, of Tarpon Springs, formerly of Bradenton, died Oct. 1, 2001, in Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in Tarpon Springs.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Vinson Funeral Home, 456 E. Tarpon Ave., in Tarpon Springs. Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Pasadena Community United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, with the Rev. Sylvia Russell officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Methodist Children's Home, 51 Main St., Enterprise, Fla. 32725, or to the Ed and Irma Norman Scholarship Fund, c/o Florida Southern College, 111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland, Fla. 33801.
Born in Pittsfield, Mass., the Rev. Edward Norman was a former resident of Manatee County from 1968-72. He was the senior pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bradenton. He served in the U.S. Navy and in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a member of Tarpon Lodge No. 112, the Rotary Club, the Old Timers Club, Friends of the Library, the Historical Society, and the Crime Watch Association, all in Tarpon Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Irma; a daughter, Jane Woolever of Seminole; two sons, Jim Ed, of Nashville, Tenn., and George W., of Fremont, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.

Jim Schuller
Bradenton
Jim Schuller, 76, of Bradenton, died Oct. 2, 2001, at home.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Griffith-Cline Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Ave. E. Service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Guy Weatherly officiating. Burial will be in Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15587, Sarasota, Fla. 34277-1587.
Born in Springfield, Ill., Mr. Schuller came to Manatee County from Lexington, Mich., in 1983. He was a real estate broker in the real estate sales industry since 1969, and he was a mobile home dealer from 1986-92. He attended Braden River Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Kirby Stewart Post No. 24 in Bradenton.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley A.; two sons, Lee Palmer of Bradenton, and Scott Palmer of Sarasota; a brother, Clarence, of Springfield; and two grandchildren.

Frank J. Shimansky
Bradenton
Frank J. Shimansky, 81, of Bradenton, died Oct. 2, 2001, in Blake Medical Center.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Edwards Memorial Funeral Home, 44 Congress St., in Milford, Mass. Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mass will be noon Saturday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Seven East Main St., in Milford. Burial will be in the parish cemetery on Medway Road and Route 109 in Milford.
Born in Quincy, Mass., Mr. Shimansky came to Manatee County from Milford. He was the owner and operator of Milford Hydraulics Co. in Milford for 17 years before retiring in 1987, and he was employed at Lewis and Sheppard Co. in Watertown, Mass., for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Eagles, and the American Legion, both in Bradento, and he was a former member of the Valencia Council Knights of Columbus in Milford.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances H. Blackler of Ventura, Calif., and Sheila A. Lindquist of Milford; a sister, Felicia "Fay" Rubinski of Somerville, Mass.; and two grandchildren.

Joseph L. Tabinski
Bradenton
Joseph L. Tabinski, 78, of Bradenton, died Oct. 2, 2001, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Friday at Bradenton Funeral Home, 5827 14th St. W. Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
Born in Washington, D.C., Mr. Tabinski came to Manatee County from Takoma Park, Md., in 1974. He was retired from Railway Express Agency after 22 years of service. He was Catholic. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former commander, sergeant at arms, and a lifetime member of American Legion in Washington, D.C.; and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Palmetto.
Survivors include his wife, Ida; a stepdaughter, Ethel M. Woods of Bradenton; a stepson, Joseph L. Cutchens of Virginia; a sister, Gladys Ellis, of Maryland; five stepgrandchildren; and many stepgreat-grandchildren.
