Nedom Ward, 60, Bradenton, died January 26, 2004, at Blake Medical Center.
Service is Saturday, 1 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home Chapel.
Nedom came to Manatee County in 2002 from St. Petersburg. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Rommie Ward, Bradenton; two daughters, Lesa Alexander, Crompton, Calif., Stephanie Coleman, St. Petersburg; stepdaughters, Antoinette, Marjorie Bethune, St. Petersburg; two stepsons, Christopher, Jessie Bethune Jr., St. Petersburg; sister, Daisy Marie Ward, Jacksonville; five brothers, Morris Ward Jr., Va., John Ward, Conn., Earleaver, Marvin and Albert Ward, all of Jacksonville; mother, Lessie Ward, Jacksonville; and 23 grandchildren.

Arlene A. Bartels, Bradenton
Arlene A. Bartels, 81, of Bradenton, died January 28, 2004, at Freedom Village Nursing Center.
Visitation is Sunday, February 1, 6-8 p.m. with service on Monday, February 2, 10 a.m., both at Griffith Cline Funeral Home, Manatee Avenue Chapel, 720 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton. Reverend Hudson Slaughter is officiating. Burial is at Skyway Memorial Gardens, Palmetto.
Born in Soperton, Ga., on October 1, 1922, Arlene lived here most of her life. She attended Samoset Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two sons, Jimmy G. Bartels of Crossville, Tenn., and Ray Bartels Sr., of Bradenton; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Andy Baak, Bradenton
Andy Baak, 76, of Bradenton, died January 26, 2004.
He was born in Haarlem, Netherlands, on January 23, 1928, and moved to Bradenton in 1970 from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. He was a former auto mechanic for Cooke Cadillac in Sarasota and Poucher Cadillac in Bradenton.
No services will be held.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three sisters, Jean and Marie of Netherlands and Andrea of Germany.
Memorial donations may be made to Humane Society of Manatee County, 2515 14th St. W., Bradenton, Fla. 34205. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes, 26th Street Chapel, in charge.

Elsie M. Barker, Ellenton
Elsie M. Barker, 85, of Ellenton, died January 27, 2004.
She was a retired bookkeeper with Marine Midland Bank and attended St. Mary's Church in Palmetto.
Survivors include brother, Edward Barker of Ellenton; and sister, Helen O'Neill of Bradenton.
Griffith Cline Funeral Home, Mansion Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Cloyd Leroy Barnes, Hurst, Texas
Cloyd Leroy Barnes, 64, of Hurst, Texas, formerly of Bradenton, died January 27, 2004.
He was born August 11, 1931, in Hartford, Ark. He was a manager with Montgomery Ward in Bradenton.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Diane Barnes and brothers, John, E.B. and Fred Barnes. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Texas; son, Terry Barnes of Oklahoma; daughter, Melody Romo of Oklahoma; stepsons, Jack Wiley and Lewis Wiley, both of Texas; stepdaughters, Mary Pruit and Susan McCloud, both of Texas; sister, Mary Bowen of Arkansas; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 30, 12-2 p.m., at Griffith Cline Funeral Home, Manasota Chapel, with a service to follow at 2 p.m. Entombment will be a Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.

Chawn Ketron Byerley, Bradenton
Chawn Ketron Byerley, of Bradenton, passed away at his home on January 27, 2004.
He was self-employed as a ceramic tile setter and was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Byerley is survived by his wife, Sandi, of 19 years; his stepdaughters, Mary Puffenburger and Andrea Sours; his mother, Marie Flanders and stepfather, Robert Flanders; sisters, Malonnie Davis and Tonya Byerley; brother, Don Byerley; stepbrother, Robert Flanders Jr. and dearest friend, Don Jones; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Jamie Bleakley and father, Clarence Ketron Byerley.
Any donations can be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238. Visitation will be held, Friday, January 30, 6-8 p.m. at Griffith Cline Funeral Home, Manasota Chapel. A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 31, 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jonathan Geldmaker officiating. Burial will be at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.

Marjorie A. Hochmuth, Scarborough, Maine
Marjorie A. Hochmuth, 81, of Scarborough, Maine, formerly of Trailer Estates in Bradenton, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Portland, Maine.
She was born in Butler, Ind., August 7, 1922, a daughter of Merle and Alice (Badman) Spencer. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert J. Hochmuth, in January 2002, and an infant son. Marjorie attended schools in Edgerton, Ohio, and later lived in Toledo, Ohio, and Temperance, Mich., before moving, with her husband, to their retirement home in Bradenton. For approximately 30 years, she owned and operated Mrs. Snyder's Homemade Pies, a family pie business, in Toledo, Ohio. In 2000, she and her husband moved to Maine, where they lived with their son and daughter-in-law.
She is survived by her son Robert A. Hochmuth and his wife, Judith, of Scarborough; three grandchildren, Lt. Col. (S) Lisa Bomberg and her husband, Lt. Col. (S) Craig Bomberg of Colorado Springs, Colo.; S/Sgt. Pamela Surette and her husband, T/Sgt. Jon Surette of Fayetteville, N.C., all serving in the U.S. Air Force; Steven Hochmuth of Litchfield, Conn. and New York City; three great-grandchildren, Riley Surette, Andrew and Christina Bomberg; a sister, Vivian Mithofer of Bradenton; a half-sister, Janet Borton and step-mother, Mary Spencer, both of Toledo, Ohio. She is also survived by a very special niece, Deborah Schroeder of Bradenton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no visiting hours. A memorial mass will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Scarborough, in early summer with interment at Black Point Cemetery. Arrangements by Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, Portland, Maine.

Mildred B. Kelly, Bradenton
Mildred B. Kelly, 94, of Bradenton, died January 27, 2004.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Donald Kelly of Chesapeake, Va.; daughter, Patricia Howe of Bradenton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Monday, February 2, 10 a.m. at Freedom Village in the Landings Auditorium.

Lucia Pellegrini, Bradenton
Lucia Pellegrini, 95, died January 26, 2004.
Funeral mass: January 29, 10 a.m., Holy Cross Catholic Church, Palmetto with burial at Skyway Memorial Gardens.
Survivors are one son; two brothers; three sisters; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials: Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla., 34238. Kicliter Funeral Home in charge.

Richard C. Ross, Ellenton
Richard C. Ross, 63, of Ellenton, went home to be with the Lord, January 28.
Visitation will be Thursday, 5-7 p.m., Shannon Funeral Home, Westview Chapel, 5610 Manatee Ave. W. Services will be Friday, 11 a.m., at Church of the Cross, 5051 26th St. W., with the Rev. Stan Pavkovich officiating. Burial will be at Palma Sola Cemetery, Bradenton.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Mr. Ross came to Manatee County from Akron, 32 years ago. He was a member and former Elder at Church of the Cross.
He is predeceased by his mother, Bertha Ross and brother, Robert Ross, and is survived by his wife, Norma; sons, Richard C. Jr. and Thomas C. of Bradenton; father, Robert C. Ross of Bradenton; brother, David Ross of Akron; and grandchildren, Hannah, Charlie and Abby.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.

Charles Ryder, Bradenton
Charles Ryder, 81, of Bradenton, died January 28, 2004.
Funeral mass will be held Friday, January 30, 9:30 a.m., St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include wife, Roberta; sons, Patrick, Brian, James and Charles Ryder and Richard, Thomas and Joseph Patterson; daughter, Mary Ellen Foster; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Richard Robert, Schrenker Sr., Bradenton
Richard Robert Schrenker Sr., 78, of Bradenton, died January 25, 2004, at Blake Medical Center.
Survivors include wife, Mary (Sellers); son, Richard Jr.; sister, Delores Wallingford; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold and Russell.
