Elizabeth M. McWilliams, 81, of Bradenton, died Sept. 4, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 912 53rd Ave. W. Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerard F. Critch officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. McWilliams came to Manatee County from West Hempstead, N.Y., two years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, William J.; two sons, William, of Astor, and John Michael, of Bradenton; a sister, Dorothy O'Brien of Deland; a stepsister, Kathryn Hacking of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Attila Rohonyi
Bradenton
Attila Rohonyi, 79, of Bradenton, died Sept. 3, 2002, in Bradenton Hospice House.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Bradenton, with the Rev. Robert G. Tierney officiating. Brown & Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Mr. Rohonyi came to Manatee County from Gainesville, Ga., in 1998. He was a retired mechanical engineer and former vice president for Selbach Engineering Co. in New Jersey. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church. He served in the Hungarian military during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Maria; two daughters, Andrea Dwight of Brandon, and Susan Sovenyhazy of Spartanburg, S.C.; a sister, Eva Darvas of Budapest; and three grandchildren.

Sharon L. Schaper, Bradenton
Sharon L. Schaper, 60, of Bradenton, died Sept. 1, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Service will be private for the family at a later date. Covell Cremation & Funeral Center of Bradenton is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 600 U.S. 301 Blvd. W., Suite 136, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Jackson, Mich., Ms. Schaper came to Manatee County from Mission Viejo, Calif., in 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin R. Colella of Mission Viejo; two sisters, Sally Church and Connie DuBoise, both of Jackson; and two grandchildren.

Rufus Louis Smith Sr.
Bradenton
Rufus Louis Smith Sr., 75, of Bradenton, died Aug. 30, 2002, at home.
Service will be private. Riggins & Daughter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Dothan, Ala., Mr. Smith came to Manatee County from there at an early age.
Survivors include three daughters, Bertha, of Bradenton, Marie Marc of St. Petersburg, and Mary Alice Jackson of Rochester, N.Y.; three sons, Rufus Jr., Louis and Clint, all of Bradenton; six sisters, Marie Romes, Mary Bradford, Willie Mae Johnson and Leila Mae Mitchell, all of Palmetto, Emma Lou Harris and Betty Joe Williams, both of Bradenton; six brothers, Clarence, of Palmetto, George, Robert Lee, Johnny and Agusta McGriff, all of Bradenton, and Paul, of Philadelphia.

Jean H. Summ
Bradenton
Jean H. Summ, 86, of Bradenton, died Sept. 4, 2002, in Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Toale Brothers Funeral Home, 912 53rd Ave. W., with Brian Summ officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238 or to the American Lung Association, 2201 Cantu Court, Suite 119, Sarasota, Fla. 34232.
Born in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Summ came to Manatee County from Cromwell, Conn., in 1976. She retired as a teacher from Middletown, Conn., and she was a musician and artist. She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Connecticut.
Survivors include four daughters, Sherri Kellberg of Bradenton, Gail Favano of Norwalk, Conn., Carol Ann Kolb of Greenwich, Conn., and Lyn Stanley of Middletown; two sons, Blan, of Hadlyme, Conn., and Brian, of Belvidere, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Norval Arnold, Bradenton
Norval "Dempsey" Arnold, 77, of Bradenton, died Sept. 3, 2002, in Blake Medical Center.
Service will be private in Indiana. Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, Ind., is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Oneco United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 908, Oneco, Fla. 34205, or to the American Cancer Society, 600 U.S. 301 Blvd. W., Suite 136, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
Born in Bryant, Ind., Mr. Arnold came to Manatee County in 1985. He retired from Westinghouse Corp. in Munice, Ind., in 1985. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ogreta "Billy"; a son, Michael, of Pennville, Ind.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Johnny B. Fleming, Palmetto
Johnny B. "Bear" Fleming, 73, of Palmetto, died Sept. 3, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Westside Funeral Home, 704 11th St. W., Palmetto. Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. T.J. Spikes officiating. Burial will be in Parrish Cemetery.
Born in Sunny Hill, Mr. Fleming came to Manatee County at an early age. He was a farm laborer. He was Baptist. He served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Roberts of Bradenton; and a sister, Gertrude Waiters of Palmetto.

William James Halliwell, Bradenton
William James Halliwell, 71, of Bradenton, died Sept. 2, 2002, at home.
Memorial service will be private at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 3100 26th St. W. The Good Earth Crematory is in charge of cremation arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
Born in Patterson, N.J., Mr. Halliwell came to Manatee County from Groton, Conn., in 2000. He was retired from the Electric Boat Co. in Connecticut. He was Roman Catholic. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann; two daughters, Cynthia Brooks and Pamela Capalbo, both of Bradenton; two sons, William James and Jon David, both of Bradenton; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Charles E. Morris, Ellenton
Charles E. Morris, 72, of Ellenton, died Sept. 3, 2002, in Manatee Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday at Kicliter Funeral Home Chapel, 517 Eighth Ave. W., Palmetto. Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Guy Weatherly officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Attention: Memorials, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, Fla. 33742.
Born in Elkins, W.Va., Mr. Morris came to Manatee County from Cleveland in 1987. He retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Cleveland after 38 years of service. He was a member of Braden River Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Masonic Lodge Free and Accepted Masons in Bera, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; two daughters, Linda J. Manuel of Wimauma, and Gail Ann Hall of Cleveland; two sons, Leonard, of Parma, Ohio, and John, of Cleveland; two sisters, Faye Nestor of Belington, W.Va., and Marie Walzred of Fairmont, W.Va.; three brothers, Norman Daniels of Suitland, Md., Clifford Daniels of Elkins, and Howard Daniels of Bradenton; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Doris T. Petrillo, Bradenton
Doris T. Petrillo, 72, of Bradenton, died Sept. 4, 2002, in Blake Medical Center. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Saints Peter and Paul The Apostles Catholic Church, 2850 75th St. W., with the Rev. Philip Joly officiating. Brown & Sons Funeral Home, 43rd Street Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, 1040 Woodcock Road, Suite 119, Orlando, Fla. 32803.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Petrillo came to Manatee County from Butler, N.J., in 1981. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul The Apostles Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dominick; a daughter, Mary Ann Turner of Bradenton; two sons, Thomas G. and Paul L., both of Bradenton; a sister, Irene Morakis of Largo; and four grandchildren.

Dorothy Jean Simpson, Palmetto

Born in Cleveland, Mrs. Simpson came to Manatee County from Fairview Park, Ohio in 1999. She was the retired owner of a hearing aid business.
Survivors include her husband, John B.; a daughter, Sandra Ramsey of Boulder, Colo.; a son, John S., of Lakewood, Ohio; a sister, Betty Burns of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Edward Smith of Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Arthur Smith of N. Olmsted, Ohio; and a grandchild.
