Geneva C. Rucks
Geneva C. Rucks, age 86, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Susan's Country Manor. Born May 1, 1915, in Tallahassee, daughter of Charles and Jettie (Hartsfield) Alligood. Mrs. Rucks came to Okeechobee from Pompano Beach in 1959 and was a devoted Deputy Registrar in Okeechobee County.
Preceded in death by her husband, James T. Rucks.
Survivors include: son, Charles Rucks of Brooks, Ga.; daughters, Barbara Spencer of Leesburg and Joan Derrick of Boise, Idaho; sister, June Gower of Pembroke Pines; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive her.
A small family service was held on Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Bass Funeral Home.
She will be cremated and laid to rest with her late husband, James T. Rucks in Miami.
Geneva's family is extremely grateful to Susan and the staff at Susan's Country Manor for the excellent care and attention they provided during this last year of her life. The family is also thankful to Bob and Shari Thompson of Bass Funeral Home for their graciousness and thoughtfulness during this difficult time.
It was Geneva's request that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Okeechobee.

Earnest A. Tillman, Jr.
Earnest A. Tillman, Jr. (Sonny), 67, of Key Largo, died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003. He is the son of the late E.A. Tillman (Buck) and Annie Mae Monday Tillman. Mr. Tillman grew up in Ca-nal Point, Fl and went to Pa-hokee High School. He was in the U.S. Marine Corp. He is survived by his wife Carol, a daughter, Camille Geiger, sons; Todd, Glade, E.A. Tillman III and wife Margaret and grandchildren Corrine, Katelynn, Jessica and Bree, sisters Vangie Platt and Ada Bush Conley. Pre-deceased brother; Sidney J. Services took place at Beyer Funeral Home, in Key Largo on Wednesday, Nov. 12. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Norman Eugene McGinnis
Norman Eugene McGinnis, 77, of Clewiston died Thurs-day, Nov. 20, 2003 at Hendry Regional Medical Center. Mr. McGinnis was born in Friendship, Ohio and had lived in the Clewiston area for 27 years. He was a truck driver. Mr. McGinnis is sur-vived by his wife Elizabeth E. McGinnis of Clewiston, three sons Ronnie McGinnis and Robert McGinnis, both of Clewiston and Daniel Deweese of Lantana, a daughter Din Verrick of New Albany, Ind., seven grand-children and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tues-day, Nov. 25, 2003 at Akin Davis Funeral Chapel and burial at Ridgelawn Ceme-tery. Officiating clergy were the Rev. Tony Miller and Rev. Chuck Pelham. Akin-Davis Funeral Homes were in charge of arrangements.

Alberta Waine Eastman
Alberta Waine Eastman, 90, of Clewiston died Nov. 21, 2003 at Hendry Regional Medical Center. Mrs. East-man "Nana" was born on August 27, 1913 in Nunex, Ga. to her proud parents, Joseph Walter Webb, Sr. and Nancy Mozelle Webb. Her husband of 51 years and one month, Gerald Eastman, preceded her in death in 1983. Mrs. Eastman was a resident of West Palm Beach for over 60 years. Survives include one daughter, Shirley White and her husband John of Clewiston, one son Tom Eastman and his wife Sally of Port St. Lucie, brother Joseph Webb and his wife Judy and sister Nina Martin, all of West Palm Beach, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many friends, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eastman was a loyal member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Clewiston for nine years. Fu-neral services were held at the First United Pentecostal Church on Monday, Nov. 24 with the Rev. J. Mark Harris Sr. of Clewiston. Mrs. East-man's Pastor and Mr. Gerald E. White of Jacksonville, conducted the service. Both are Mrs. Eastman's grand-sons. Rev. Daniel R. Kyle of West Palm Beach, Mrs. Eastman's former pastor spoke at graveside. The in-terment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in West Palm Beach.

Betty Jean Colquitt
Betty Jean Colquitt, age 49, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Nov. 23, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Preceded in death by: her husband Clinton and son Charles Johnson.
Survivors include: mother, Mary Gardner of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Sharon Denise Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; two sons, Randy Johnson of Memphis, Tenn. and Christopher Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn; seven grandchildren; four brothers, David Gardner (Alison) of Clarksville, Tenn., Billy Gardner of Belle Glade, Nathaniel Gardner (Calista Crook) of Memphis, Tenn. and Charles Gardner of Oakland, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Criss (Leroy) of Flowermound, Texas, Barbara Jean Chavers (James) of St. Louis, Mo. and Diane Gardner of Myrtle Beach, S.C. There are several nieces, nephews and sorrowing friends including her special dear friend Clara Ardley. From her marriage to Mr. Colquitt, she is survived by step daughters, Quanda Hamilton and Shirley Colquitt.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Sanford "Sandy" Parnis
Sanford "Sandy" Parnis, age 67 of Okeechobee, died Friday, Nov.21, 2003, at Lawnwood Medical Center.
A 22-year resident of Okeechobee, sandy had served in the United States Navy and was the owner and operator of Ceramic Tile of Okeechobee.
Known as a very strong, supportive family man, he is survived by his wife of 22 years, Hazel, three sons; Steven Parnis (Cheryl) of Houston, Texas, Robert Christian of Pittsburg, Pa. and Bradley Christian (Dana) of Pine Bluff Ark. There is one daughter Cathy Gillam (Timmy) of Cocoa. In addition, he is survived by four granddaughters; Monica Dossett (Kevin) of Tarpon Springs, Robyn and Cathy Christian both of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Emily Christian of Lutz. Also surviving are two sisters, Renee Sachs (Phil) of Pembrook Pines and Doris Dorfman (Authur) of Tucson, Ariz. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 4 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Basinger Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973.
All arrangements are under direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Raymond Edward Reuwer
Raymond Edward Reuwer, age 89, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001, at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born March 10, 1912, in Baltimore, Md., Mr. Reuwer had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1983.
Preceded in death by his wife, Julia.
Survivors include: daughter, Rose Ann (James) Slifker of Miami; son, William B. (Elsie) Reuwer of Miami; three grandsons, Michael J. Slifker of Philadelphia, Pa., Kirk Reuwer and Ed Reuwer of Miami; granddaughter, Julia Ann Moak of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Nicole Moak.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Edward John Killiany
Edward John Killiany, age 63, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. Born Jan. 30, 1938, in Torrington, Conn., Mr. Killiany had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1997. He was a member of Faith Farm Tabernacle.
Survivors include: his wife of two years, Jeanette T. Killiany of Okeechobee; three stepsons, Raymond (Linda) Torres of Lake Worth, Edward (LaShanna) Torres of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Tony Torres of Okeechobee; two stepdaughters, Estelle (Edward) Escobar of Greenacres and Jeanette Torres of New York City; four step grandchildren; one step great-granddaughter; brother, Andrew Killiany of Birmingham, Ala.; three aunts; one uncle; two nephews; one niece; and one grand-nephew.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 26 from 10 until noon.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon with Rev. Earl Lookabill of Faith Tabernacle Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Charles William Vickers
Charles William Vickers, age 64, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001. Born Aug. 23, 1937, in Holopaw, to Charlie and Ola Boney Vickers, Mr. Vickers had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1980. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Vickers and brother, Jimmy Vickers.
Survivors include: his wife of 43 years, Dolores Vickers of Okeechobee; mother, Ola Vickers; son, Cliff Vickers of Palmetto; daughters, Milly Crews and Joyce Thomas of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; brothers, Larry Vickers, Bruce Vickers, Sammy Vickers, C.G. Vickers, Wayne Vickers and Paul Vickers; sisters, Mary Lou Madison, Charlotte Ann Baisden, Esther Ruth Collins, Sandra Collins, Becky Ayers and Faye O'Berry.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 23, from 5 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Kenansville, with Rev. James Madison, Rev. C.G. Vickers and Rev. Lindell Selvey, officiating. Interment will follow in Kenansville Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Harvey Willard Dove
Harvey Willard Dove, age 70, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Dove was born Oct. 28, 1933, in Montgomery County, Va.
Mr. Dove was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Wesley and Ada Reed Dove; two brothers, Leonard Wesley Dove and Roy Lawrence Dove.
Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda Lorraine "Tootie" Dove of Christiansburg, Va.; three sons, Robert (Glenda) Dove of Blacksburg, Va., William (Karen) Dove and Darrell (Debbie) Dove, all of Christiansburg, Va.; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; five sisters, Essie Compton and Ruby Early of Christiansburg, Va., Elizabeth and Jane Robinson of Blacksburg, Va. and Elsie Fugate of Pearisburg, Va. Additionally, he is survived by his loving friend and caretaker, Lucy Goins.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Margie A. Green
Margie A. Green, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1930, in Miami, Mrs. Green had been a resident of Okeechobee for 22 years.
Mrs. Green was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack and Ralph Green; and sister, Ouida Pinkston.
Survivors include: her niece, Kathy Cochran of Ft. Lauderdale; nephew, James Pinkston, Jr., of Crystal River; brother-in-law, James Pinkston, Sr. of Okeechobee; two great nieces; two great nephews; three great- great nephews; and, two great- great nieces.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Leon E. Decker
Leon E. Decker, age 89, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. He was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Lancaster, Pa. to Ralph and Mary Decker. Mr. Decker was an U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII in North Africa and Italy. For his service he was awarded the good conduct medal, three bronze stars, and the World War II Victory medal. Mr. Decker was a lifetime member of the Pompano Elks and Southeast Okeechobee VFW Post #10539. He was a past district commander and past post commander of the American Legion Pompano Beach, and was a Shriner and member of the Moose Club.
Mr. Decker was a general contractor and moved to Okeechobee in 1986 and had been a Florida resident since 1951.
Mr. Decker was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ann Decker.
Survivors include: son, Ralph E. Decker of Brooksville; step-son, Willard Bowman; step-daughter, Helen June Powers, both of Punta Gorda; companion of 14 years, Sandra R. Souza of Okeechobee; sister, Marion Hogentogler of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; and, two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the VFW Post #10539, S.R. 441 S. in Okeechobee, on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

George Clifton Bennett, Sr.
George Clifton Bennett, Sr., age 86, of Rich Square, N.C., died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 at Autumn Care in Rich Square. Born Feb. 25, 1917 in Berea, Mr. Bennett had moved to Okeechobee in 1974. He was a barber at Barney's Barber Shop until he retired. He served for five years in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in the artillery unit in the Pacific during WWII. Mr. Bennett joined the Primitive Baptist Church in Okeechobee at the age of 78. An avid Braves fan, his hobbies included watching baseball and fishing.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilthel Bennett; second wife, Anamone Bennett; and, daughter, Sue Bennett.
Survivors include: his son, George Clifton "Cliff" Bennett, Jr. and his wife, Betty Dean Bennett of Wake Forest, N.C.; stepdaughters, Karen McFadden and Teresa Mills; grandchildren, Edward Bethel and Elizabeth Mahusay; sisters, Maude Henry and Mildred Ferranti; and, half sisters, Ella Mae Yountz and Erma Lee Bright.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 23, from 4 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Nov. 24, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Lauderdale Memorial Park in Fort Lauderdale.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Felton G. Johnson
Felton G. Johnson, 46, of Okeechobee, died Nov. 16, 2001, at Glades General Hospital in Belle Glade.
Mr. Johnson was born in Sebring and was an investigator for the Okeechobee County Health Department.
He is survived by two brothers: Jerome (Earlene) Johnson of Indiantown, and Jerry M. Johnson of Okeechobee; and, one sister, Arrie Martin of Okeechobee.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the New St. Stephens AME Church in Okeechobee.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. until the services begin at 11 a.m. Both will be held at the New St. Stephens AME Church in Okeechobee. The Rev. Elizah Murphy will officiate.
Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee.
Funeral services under the direction of Funerals by Coleman of Port St. Lucie.
