Kenneth Wayne Wiley
Kenneth Wayne Wiley, age 50, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001, at Tampa General Hospital. Born Aug. 15, 1951, in Richmond, Va., Mr. Wiley had been a resident of Okeechobee for seven years and was a member of the Brighton Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his mother and stepfather, Jean and Jay Brown of Okeechobee; one daughter, Teresa Wiley of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Wiley of Powhatan, Va. and Curtis Wiley of Las Vegas, Nev.; two stepbrothers, Donald J. Brown of Clifton Springs, N.Y. and Ronald L. (Jill) Brown of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three stepsisters, Bonnie Lee (Ken) Stivers, and Yvonne (Terry) Lush of Clifton Springs, N.Y. and Connie (Frank) Balangio of Las Vegas, Nev.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 4 until 7 p.m.
A funeral service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. with Rev. Calvin Fryar, Pastor of Brighton Baptist Church, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Edwin Russell Purcell
Edwin Russell Purcell, age 86, of Lakeport, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, in Fort Pierce. He was born March 22, 1915 in Tunnelton, W. Va., to George Cleveland Purcell and Myra Long Purcell. He served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. A resident of Lakeport since 1978, Edwin was a former resident of Baltimore, where he worked as an electrician for General Motors. He was active in many clubs, serving as Past Master of Moore Haven Lodge No. 61 F & AM, Valley of Fort Myers Scottish Rite, Araba Shrine and serving as Past Commander of Moore Haven Post No. 299 of the American Legion. Edwin was a member of the Lakeport Church of Christ.
Survivors include: his wife, Lucille; son, Charles Edwin Purcell of Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Edwina Lou Reid of Baltimore, Md.; brothers, Bill Purcell of Parkersburg, W. Va. and John Kenneth Purcell of New Port Ritchie; sisters, Mary Lou Wellman of New Port Ritchie and Margaret Barhight of Berkley Springs, W. Va.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at 7 p.m., at the Lakeport Church of Christ, with Reverend Larry Frogg officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Akin-Davis Funeral Home, LaBelle.

Orville Arton "Junior" Kibler, Jr.
Orville Arton "Junior" Kibler, Jr., age 58, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Jan. 1, 1943 in Warrenton, Va., Mr. Kibler had been a resident of Okeechobee for 20 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Kibler Trucking.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Ethel Kibler of Okeechobee; son, Tony Kibler and wife, Lori; daughter, Theresa King; grandsons, Joshua Yates and Tony Kibler II; granddaughters, Latisha Yates, Alicia Kibler and Krista McGee, all of Okeechobee; sister, Virginia Wortman and husband Mike of Culpeper, Va.; brothers in law, Jerry Holmes of Deerfield Beach and Tim Holmes of Palm City; parents in law, Earl and Viney Holmes of Okeechobee; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001 from 4 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Huckabee of the First Baptist Church and Reverend Richard Whipple officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mae Worsham Lowe
Mae Worsham Lowe, age 79, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001.
Preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lowe and parents, Joe and Mammy Clifton Worsham.
Survivors include; her daughters, Mrs. Dale (Linda) Fralix of Sprucepine, Ala., Mrs. Bruce (Dinah Sue) Addison, Mrs. James (Helen) Calhoun, Nancy Threadgill and Mrs. Phil (Theresa) Flowers, all of Okeechobee; sons, Edward Lynn Lowe, Earnest Eugene Lowe, both of Okeechobee and Robert Leroy Lowe of Sterns, Ky; 28 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Francis Evans of Knoxville, Tenn.
Funeral services were held on Oct. 24, 2001 at McGill-Karnes Funeral Home Chapel in Loudon, Tenn., with Reverend Gene Russell officiating.
Burial was in Roberson Cemetery.

Charles Milu
Charles Milu, age 74, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001, at JKF Medical Center in Atlantis. Born July 19, 1927 in New Brunswick, N.J., Mr. Milu had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Sea Bees and was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 55 years, Margaret "Marge" Milu of Okeechobee; two sons, Gregory Charles Milu of Pembroke Pines and Jon Edward Milu of San Antonio, Texas; three daughters, Pamela Gangloff of Okeechobee, Deborah Thompson of Hialeah and Denise Murphy of Fort Lauderdale; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Ernie Milu of Hollywood.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 382, Okeechobee, Fl. 34973. Contribution envelopes may be obtained at Buxton Funeral Home.

Harvey E. Thomas
Harvey E. Thomas, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Indian River Memorial Hospital in Vero Beach. Born Oct. 10, 1929, in Basinger, Mr. Thomas was the son of W.J. and Effie (Gore) Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee County, a rancher by trade and a member of the North Okeechobee Church of God.
Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edgar, Alva and Herman.
Survivors include: his wife, Zena Thomas; sons, James Gurnee Thomas, Harvey Ronald Thomas, both of Okeechobee; daughter, Eva Mae Conely of Okeechobee; sister, Ruth Arnold of Okeechobee; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is on Monday, Oct. 29, from 9 until 10:30 a.m. at the North Okeechobee Church of God.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 29, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the North Okeechobee Church of God, with Reverend Noah E. Taylor officiating.
Interment to follow in Basinger Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to North Okeechobee Church of God.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Helen Joan 'Joann' Cox
Helen Joan "Joann" Cox, age 68, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. Born July 17, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, Ill., Mrs. Cox, formerly of Terra Haute, Ind., had been a resident of Okeechobee for 18 years. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose, Chapter 956.
Survivors include: her devoted husband of 52 years, Larry Cox of Okeechobee; one son, George R. Cox of Brazil, Ind.; two daughters, Jeri Mundell (Richard) of Okeechobee and Marcia Neice (Robert) of Terra Haute, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Kay Patterson and Richard Mundell of Okeechobee, Kevin Neice, Jason Neice and Caryn Glaziner of Terra Haute, Ind., Philip Cox and Courtney Cox of Brazil, Ind.; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Afghan Children, c/o The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. 20509-1600.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Linda Widoff
Linda Widoff, age 54, loving wife, mother, grandmother, died Oct. 19, 2001, after a long battle with breast cancer.
She was born in Bowling Green and raised in Arcadia and Okeechobee, where she met her husband, attorney Michael Widoff.
Linda was Miss Okeechobee and Miss Flame of Florida which was a state wide title. She was a contestant in the Miss Florida Pageant.
Married in Okeechobee, Linda and Mike moved to Fort Landerdale. Linda became active in the Pine Crest Mothers Club and the Pine Crest Women's tennis team. She was the Junior Welfare Society. She was the first woman to chair the Lauderdale Debutante Presentation Committee. She was active in all her children's activities. She was an avid fisherman and loved her home in the keys.
Preceded in death by son Brian.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughter, Mikey (Patrick "Kim") O'Neal; her son Patrick Widoff (fiancee Katy Hogan); and grandchildren, Patrick, Morgan and Brody O'Neal; her mother, Sue Mullis; and, sisters Sandra Wherrell and Debbie Wright.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the M.D. Anderson Cancer Research Center, 1515 Holcombe, Houston, Texas or Hospice Care of S.E. Florida.

Sandra Lee Mathey
Sandra Lee Mathey, age 54, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, in Hendry General Hospital in Clewiston. Born Dec. 9, 1946 in Hamilton, N.Y. Mrs. Mathey formerly worked as a cook at the Keystop Restaurant in Yeehaw Junction, she came to Okeechobee from New York in 1981, and was affiliated with the Baptist faith. She enjoyed fishing and liked to sew.
Survivors include: her husband, Ronald J. Mathey of Okeechobee; sons, Richard Mathey, Ronald L. Jr. and wife Joyce, Rodney Mathey, all of Okeechobee,
Robert Mathey and wife Tracey of Jacksonville; daughters, Kristie Mathey of Okeechobee, Karen Braunsdorf and husband William of Orlando; brothers, Gerald, Charles and Tommy Seifert, all of New York; also eight grandchildren survive her.
Visitation services will be Saturday, Oct. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Mary A. White
Mary A. White, age 61, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at Palms West Hospital. Born Feb. 28, 1940 in Cullman, Ala., to William and Bernice Wynn. Mrs. White was a cook at Fat Johnnies Restaurant, and she was an avid bingo and card player.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. White, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include: her sons, Donald Ray of Ala., and Terry DeWayne of Okeechobee; daughters, Kathy Ann Loschiavo and Connie Lynn White, both of Okeechobee; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive her.
Funeral services will be held in Cullman, Alabama.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.

Lillie Mae Birts Yorker
Lillie Mae Birts Yorker, age 71, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born August 28, 1930 in Illahaw, Florida, to the late Samuel and Rena Johnson. Lillie Mae had been a resident of Okeechobee for over 60 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star for many years and former secretary to the principal at Douglass Brown School. Lillie Mae will best be remembered as the devoted pianist for the various choirs at the First Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful member. Miss Lillie Mae was famous for her fashion flair of fancy hats, gloves and spike high heel shoes.
She leaves to cherish her memory; two loving daughters, Constance Shoots and Myra Birts; stepdaughter, Lucinda Yorker Rosier; stepson, Robert Yorker; granddaughters, Bridgett (Terry) Williams, Carol Yorker and Tiffany Birts; grandson, Cornelius Jarvis; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Nettie Lee Williams; brothers, Altha Johnson and Charlie Lewis Johnson ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 19, 2001, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Dean's Court, 811 S.W. Ninth Avenue, on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Leroy Smith officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mary L. Miller
Mary L. Miller, age 63, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at her residence. She was born Jan. 11, 1938 in Corinth, Ill.
Mary was the daughter of Aude and Ethel (Hayes) Malone.
She formerly worked as a lab technician at Stauffer Chemical. She lived in Okeechobee part-time in 1987 and became a full-time resident as of 1996; coming from Crete, Ill.
Mrs. Miller was an avid fisherman with her husband, George, whom she married in 1952. She loved to camp and spent many hours working her beloved jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include: her husband, George Miller of Okeechobee; sisters, Grace Herns of Somonauk, Ill., Pauline Roper of Springfield, Ill., Florence Krider of Sandwich, Ill., Margie Murphy of Johnson City, Ill., and Alene Summers of Thompsonville, Ill.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, at 10 a.m., with Reverend Ralph Crowell officiating.
Memorials may be made in Mary's name to the Epilepsy Foundation.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Bass Funeral Home.
