Thomas UV Peacock
Thomas UV Peacock, age 73, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Martin County Memorial. Born Sept. 8, 1928, in Panama City to Thomas Alexander and Katie (Bruner) Peacock, Mr. Peacock came to Okeechobee from Arcadia in 1963. He was an equipment operator in the construction business and was a member of the North Okeechobee Church of God.
Preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include: wife, Peggy Peacock; son, Richard A. Peacock Sr.; daughter Brenda Joyce and husband Henry Norman; sister-in-law, Madiebelle Peacock; three grandchildren, Richard A. Peacock Jr., Jessica Dawn and husband Dan T. Slone and Megan L. Norman all of Okeechobee.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 15, from 7 until 9 p.m. and one hour prior to funeral service on Tuesday, Oct. 16.
Funeral service will be Tuesday. Oct. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Okeechobee Church of God with Pastor Alton Padgett and Pastor Noah Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the Bass Funeral Home.

Carolyn Donaldson
Carolyn 'Granny' Donaldson, 59, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Oct. 5, unexpectedly.
She was born Feb. 18, 1942, in Vero Beach and has been a resident of Okeechobee for 16 years.
'Granny' owned and operated Stepping Stones Learning Centers in Okeechobee since 1989.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Loal of Okeechobee; three sons, Bruce (Jodi) Donaldson of Okeechobee, Eric (Jamie) Donaldson of Coral Springs, Fla., and Curt (Jewel) Donaldson of Dahlonega, Ga.; two daughters, Sharon (Danny) Allison of Okeechobee; and Kim (Gene) Cooper of Okeechobee; 13 grandchildren - Joshua, Lindsey, Bruce Jr., Ashley, Candice, Jeremy, Cody, Curtis Donaldson, Tommy, Justin, Jessica Allison, Brandon Ashley and Matthew Kane.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home in Okeechobee.
The funeral service will be at the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m.
Rev. Raymond Coppage will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Bass Funeral Home in Okeechobee.

Bettie Louise Conner
Bettie Louise Conner, age 64, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at her residence. Born Sept. 16, 1937, in Richmond, Ky., Mrs. Conner had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1980. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and member and past president of the Buckhead Ridge VFW Post #9528 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by sons, James W. Conner Jr., William Franklin Conner and Donnie Lee Conner and brother, Frank Deatherage.
Survivors include: her husband, James W. Conner of Okeechobee; one son, Tommy H. Conner and wife Teresa; two daughters, Bonnie Gabbard and husband Asbury and Donna Lawson and husband, Rick all of Richmond, Ky.; and one sister, Dorsie King of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the Buckhead Ridge VFW.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fl. 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Buster Yates
Buster Yates, age 87, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born on Jan. 9, 1914, in Okeechobee, Mr. Yates had lived his entire life in Okeechobee and served in the United States Army during World War II. He worked all his life as a cattle puncher and was a member of the Okeechobee American Legion Post #64.
Mr. Yates is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Mary Yates, three brothers, seven sisters and a son, Glenn Yates.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beulah, three sons, Lester Yates Sr. and wife Mary Lou, Steve Yates and wife Patty of Okeechobee and Lonnie Yates and wife Sherry of St. Petersburg. One daughter survives Virginia Everett and husband Earl of Okeechobee. Grandchildren are Lester Yates Jr., Keith Yates, Leroy Yates, Donnie Yates, Tony Yates, Andy Yates and Leah Ann Yates all of Okeechobee. Steven Yates of Salt Lake City, Utah, Larry West and Vickie Theros of St. Petersburg. Great-grandchildren surviving are Seth Yates and Emilee Yates both Okeechobee. Buster is also survived by one sister, Mae Waldron of Okeechobee.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 9, from 4 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Malcolm Carter of the Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Pierce officiating.
Interment will full military honors will follow at Basinger Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lannie Deal Enfinger
Lannie Deal Enfinger, age 91, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born August 6, 1910, Lannie was a former resident of Plant City for 50 years and moved to Okeechobee five years ago. She retired as Director of Food Services of South Florida Baptist Hospital after 20 years, a member of the First Baptist Church of Dover, member of Plant City Pilot Club, Order of the Eastern Star and Business and Professional Women's Club. A volunteer for Plant City Tourist Welcome Center and a wonderful loving mother loved by all her children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her son, James G. Enfinger.
Survivors include: three sons, Reverend Dallas M. Enfinger of Okeechobee, Raleigh E. Enfinger of Hudson, Billy J. Enfinger of Orlando; daughter Mary C. Clark of Tifton, Ga.
Graveside services will be on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dover, Florida with interment to follow.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Wells Memorial Funeral Home of Plant City.

Jennifer Lynn Bridges
Jennifer Lynn Bridges, age 21, of Gainesville, Ga., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, in Gainesville, Ga. Miss Bridges was born May 19, 1980 in Lexington, N.C. She graduated from Franklin High School, Class of 1998 and was a Nursing Assistant at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Darlene Lipe.
Survivors include: her mother, Janet McKendree; two brothers, Alan Bridges and Aaron Bridges; one sister, Sarah Bridges; uncle, Marshall Platt; and aunt, Shelly Walker, all of Franklin, N.C.; and maternal grandfather, Nathan F. Platt of Lakeland.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Curtis Harold Fountain, Sr.
Curtis Harold Fountain, Sr. age 78, of Milton and formerly of Okeechobee, died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001. Born Jan. 22, 1924 in Fort Drum, Mr. Fountain lived most of his life in Okeechobee and had resided in Milton for the past year. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Milton, was a retired block mason, heavy equipment operator and commercial fisherman.
Preceded in death by; his parents, Robert and Mary Amanda Fountain; three sons, Tony Curtis Fountain, Harold Curtis Fountain Jr. and Michael Fountain; sisters, Juanita Nobles, Adell Powell and Doretha Gould; brothers, Robert Fountain, Jr., and Twin brother, Quintis Fountain.
Survivors include: his wife, Donna Harrelson Fountain, five sons, Dale Fountain, Gary Fountain, Rodney Fountain, Michael Fountain and Danny Fountain; four daughters, Debra Crews, Connie F. Clark, Patsy Rowell, Mary Fountain; one step-son, Michael Miller; sister, Gretta Aiden; half-sister, Viola Smith; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001 at the Donnie Sowell Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Memory Park Cemetery.
All arrangements were under the direction and care of the Donnie Sowell Funeral Home, Milton, Florida.

Lawrence Bedford Randolph
Lawrence Bedford Randoplh, age 81, of Okeechobee, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility after an extended illness. Mr. Randolph served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. He was an expert tool and die maker by trade, eventually owning his own business in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio. On retiring, he and his wife moved to Okeechobee in 1977 where he enjoyed many years raising polled Herefords. He was a devoted father and grandfather and fine friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of 58 years, Erma Randolph of Okeechobee; his son, Larry Randolph and wife, Valerie, and grandson, Adam Randolph, all of Greenville, Ohio; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jim Schneider, grandson, Douglas Schneider and wife, Shana, all of Okeechobee; two beautiful great-grandchildren, Morgan and Timothy and a third grandchild due in November; his brother, Gordon Randolph of Dayton, Ohio; his sister, Minnie Weitzel of Defuniak Springs; plus many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends as they celebrate Mr. Randolph's life on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the home of Jim and Linda Schneider, 8300 S.W. Ninth Street in Okeechobee. Interment will be private in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, Fl. 33742.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

D.R. Kilpatrick
D.R. Kilpatrick, age 80, of Moore Haven, died Oct. 1, 2001. He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Seven-Mile Hammock (Okeechobee County) to Drake and Alice Kilpatrick, both deceased.
D.R. was a true pioneer of the state of Florida. He attended grammar school in a Basinger one-room school house and was considered to be one of the state's last "cow hunters," having worked cattle his entire life from a very young age during a time when the term "cattleman" meant living in a tent in the woods, cooking over an open fire and even riding out a hurricane in a palmetto bush shared with a bobcat. D.R. served in the Coast Guard during WWII from late 1941 to 1945, traveling extensively throughout the Malaysian Pacific in a large freighter delivering supplies. After his honorable discharge from the service in 1945, D.R. worked as a ranch manager for Wiley Reynolds, formerly of Dixie Ranch in Okeechobee until 1960 when he established Kilpatrick's Cattle Ranch, then located near Clewiston, currently a cane farming operation located in Glades County. He was a charter member of the Cracker Cattle Association, the National Cattlemen's Association and the Glades County Cattlemen's Association. D.R. was also a member of the Glades County Chamber of Commerce, Glades County Youth Livestock and Florida Sugarcane League.
Preceded in death by his daughter Laurlene Mims, May of 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dannie Kilpatrick, as well as his sons, James Russell Kilpatrick of Moore Haven, Drayton Kilpatrick of Chipley and Wendell Kilpatrick of Fort Myers; his daughters, Ann Akin of LaBelle and Linda Sue Lucey of Clewiston; his sisters, Beedie Mae Thomas of Basinger and Lucille Arnold of Sneads; his brother Dillon Kilpatrick of Sneads; and, 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, at 10 a.m., graveside at Ortona Cemetery, Ortona with Chaplain Bob Moore officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 2, from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at the Akin-Davis Funeral Home in Clewiston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to: Real Life Children's Ranch, 7777 Hwy. 441 S.E., Okeechobee or the Glades County Library, Building Fund, P.O. Box, 505 Moore Haven, Fl. 33471.

James Albert Bryant
James Albert Bryant, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at his residence. Born May 11, 1926, in Williamsburg, Ky., Mr. Bryant had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1988. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and attended the Living Word of Faith Church.
He was preceded in death by one son, James David Bryant and daughter, Shirley Bryant.
Survivors include: his wife, Judy Bryant of Okeechobee; two sons, Gary Bryant and Bruce Bryant, both of Perrysburg, Ohio; three daughters, Deborah Peace of Perrysburg, Ohio, Melinda Harris of Okeechobee and Charity Gimenez of Clearwater; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and, one sister Christine Rodman of Oregon, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 10 until noon. Funeral services will be conducted at noon.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ouida Rhymes
Ouida Rhymes, age 85, of Okeechobee, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at the Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born May 2, 1916, to Mose and Dollie Rhymes Thomas, in Avon Park, Mrs. Rhymes, fondly called "Weedy", had been a lifetime resident of Okeechobee. She was retired after 17 years with the Okeechobee County Hospital and was a member of the Fort Kissimmee Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lee Rhymes; son, Orville "Bodiddle" Rhymes; and three brothers, Robert Thomas, Hubert Thomas and Monroe Thomas.
Survivors include: one brother, Oscar Thomas; two sisters, Oveta Williams and Beatrice Prescott, all of Okeechobee; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 1 until 2 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

W.L. 'Bill' Lloyd
W.L. "Bill" Lloyd, age 71, of Okeechobee formerly of Morehead City, N.C., died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001, at Triangle Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough, N.C.
He was a retired Southern Baptist Minister of music and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: a brother, Levi Lloyd and his wife Catherine of Buras, La.; two nieces, Sue Edward and her husband Don of Atlantic, N.C. and Barbara Jean Davis and her husband, William of Crab Point, N.C.; two nephews, Jon Morris and his wife Diana of Newport, N.C. and Terry Morris and his wife Pat of Newport, N.C. He is survived by nine great-nieces and nephews and seven great-great nieces and nephews.
All arrangements are by Murden Funeral Home and Crematory in Morehead City, N.C.
