Leonidas David Gleason
Leonidas David Gleason, age 100, of Eustis, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003. Mr. Gleason was born in Marion County, Ind., and moved to Eustis from Okeechobee in 2000. Mr. Gleason was a retired baker for the wholesale industry; of the Presbyterian faith; and a Mason and Rotarian.
Survivors include: his daughter, Marilyn A. Nelson of Eustis; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be conducted on Aug. 12, at 11 a.m., at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Ind.
Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Directors of Eustis is in charge of arrangements.

Zetta D. Hunt
Zetta D. Hunt, age 99, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mrs. Hunt was born on July 20, 1904, in Basinger, daughter of James and Christine (Alderman) Durrance, a pioneer family of Okeechobee. She was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee and a cattle rancher. Mrs. Hunt was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution Okeechobee Chapter, the Okeechobee and State Historical Society and The Society of Colonial Dames.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clayton Hunt; one sister, Zona Bass; and her brother, Zeb Durrance.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Reverend Bruce Simpson will officiate. Interment will be in Basinger Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Christine B. Pagano
Christine B. Pagano, age 84, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Pagano was born on Dec. 25, 1918, in Tampa, daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Crosby) Bell. She was a homemaker by trade.
Survivors include: two sons, John (Robin) Sellers of Okeechobee and Donald Lee (Imhild) Sellers of Chipley; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barbara (Melvin) Tomlinson of Brandon and Irene Nichols of Tampa.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, July 25, at 11 a.m., at the Orange Hill Cemetery in Riverview. Reverend Ralph Crowell will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Rob Willie Smith
Rob Willie Smith, age 55, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at his residence. Born Dec. 16, 1947, in Statesboro, Ga. Mr. Smith moved from Claxton, Ga., and has been a resident of Okeechobee since 1964. He was employed as a service attendant with Prax Air and was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and served on the usher board.
Survivors include: his wife, Ella Mae Smith of Okeechobee; two sons, Lyman Smith and Brian Smith, both of Okeechobee; two daughters, Vanesha Smith and Lajuana Smith, both of Okeechobee; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, from 10:30 a.m. until funeral service time at noon, at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Stone Brothers Funeral Home in Ft. Pierce.

Margaret F. Burgos
Margaret F. Burgos, age 88, of Avon Park, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, in Avon Park. Born in Grinell, Iowa, Mrs. Burgos was a resident of Florida since 1939 and a former resident of Okeechobee. She was a homemaker and affiliated with the Christian Science Church in Sebring.
Survivors include: her husband, Eladio Burgos of Avon Park; two sons, Jesse E. Palmer of Orange Park and Michael C. Palmer of Okeechobee; daughter, Shirley Palmer of Okeechobee; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 3 p.m., at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Mike Adams officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home in Sebring.

Llewelyn "Levy" Harp
Llewelyn "Levy" Harp, age 36, of Okeechobee, died Friday, July 18, 2003. Born March 6, 1967, in Okeechobee, the son of Charles Harp, Sr. and Ida (Williams) Harp. He was a resident of Goosecreek, S.C. for 30 years and returned to Okeechobee in 2002. He was a roofer by trade.
Survivors include: his son, Llewelyn D. Harp, Jr. of Goosecreek, S.C.; mother, Ida Harp of Goosecreek, S.C.; father, Charles Harp of Washington state; brother, Charles Harp, Jr. of Ladson, S.C.; two sisters, Toni Lynn Harp of Columbus, S.C. and Angela Harp of Charleston, S.C.; niece, Malaysia Harp; and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles, Dorothy (Robert) Butler, Sr., Elease Johnson, Corinne (George) Bradley, Irene (Lee) Holt, Homer Williams, Casey (Rose) Williams, Henry (Rosemary) Williams, Annie (Terrence) McAuliffe, Laura Stallworth, Jerry Godwin and Mary Ruth Thomas.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery, with Pastor Joe Bishop officiating.
All Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Frances L. Richardson
Frances L. Richardson, age 88, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Kingston Nursing Home in Ashland, Ohio. Born June 8, 1915, in Ashland County, Ohio, daughter of Elza and Ethel Jones Meeks. Mrs. Richardson was a resident of Okeechobee for the past 20 years. She worked as an operator at General Telephone, retiring after 30 years of service and was of the Methodist faith.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Floyd Richardson; her parents; and grandson, Doran Banks.
Survivors include: daughter, Shirley (Matthew) Banks of Jeromesville, Ohio; son, Stanley (Treva) Becker of Jeromesville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandson; and sister, Margaret (Cloyd) Ewing.
Graveside services for family and friends will be Thursday, July 24, at 7 p.m., at Jeromesville Cemetery.
Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville is in charge of arrangements.

Emma M. Elders
Emma M. Elders, age 91, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Lake Placid Health Care, Lake Placid. Born Sept. 18, 1911, in Huntsville, Ala., the daughter of Jefferson and Ella B. (Milner) Wise. Mrs. Elder was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Brethren Church.
Preceded in death by: her husband, James Edward Elders; a brother; and sister.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles E. Elders of Pulaski, Tenn., and Philip and Jeffrey Elders, both of Okeechobee; two daughters, Bea Briney and Faye Mackin, both of Okeechobee; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 22, from 6 until 8 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 23, at 10 a.m., at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. John W. Keith officiating. Interment to be in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Oscar Lee Perry, Jr.
Oscar Lee Perry, Jr., age 60, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, in Melbourne. Born May 1, 1943, in Muhlenburg County, Ky., son of Marietta Hunt Perry and the late Oscar Lee Perry.
Mr. Perry attended Williams-Jennings Bryan College in Bryson City, Tenn., on a basketball scholarship and then graduated from Tusculum University in Greenville, Tenn., with a degree in education. He then served as a teacher with the Orange County School System in Orlando, while earning his master's degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. He then served as principal of Memphis Elementary in Memphis, Ind., and later returned to Orlando and served as junior high principal at Winter Park Junior High. He then served as principal of Englewood Elementary, Venice Elementary, Ashton Elementary and then director of elementary education with the Sarasota County School District. He later served as associate school superintendent in the Fulton County Public Schools in Atlanta and then served as deputy superintendent with the Austin Independent School District in Austin, Texas. He returned to Atlanta and served as the deputy superintendent of information services for the Georgia Department of Education before retiring to Okeechobee, where he was director of information and technology for Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
Mr. Perry moved to Okeechobee from Atlanta in 1998 and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Sandy (Williamson) Perry; mother, Marietta Hunt Perry of Lewisburg, Ky.; sons, Lee F. Perry of Roswell, Ga. and Logan Hunt Perry of Okeechobee; daughters, Kim R. Perry of Camarillo, Calif. and Jennifer (Andrew) Hutcheson of Beaufort, S.C.; sisters, Wanetta (Byron D.) Ellis of Roswell, Ga. and Barbara (Jerry S.) Carney of Louisville, Ky.; granddaughter, Hannah Gale Hutcheson; niece, Shannon (David) Gonzales of Mount Washington, Ky.; nephews, Greg (Kelly) Ellis of Woodstock, Ga., Eric Ellis of Atlanta, Joshua and Jacob Carney of Louisville, Ky.; grand nephew, Trevor Gonzales; and grand niece, Madison Gonzales of Mount Washington, Ky.
Visitation is Wednesday, July 23, from 2 until memorial service at 3 p.m., at the Bass Funeral Home, with Reverend Arlen Cook and Reverend Joe Bishop officiating. Interment will be in New Hebron Cemetery, Penrod, Ky.
All arrangements are under the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Richard William Dery, Sr.
Richard William Dery, Sr., age 69, of Buckhead Ridge in Okeechobee, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at his residence. Born Feb. 15, 1934, in Webster, Mass., Mr. Dery had been a resident of Okeechobee for 32 years. He was a member of the Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 33 years, Shirley Dery of Okeechobee; four sons, Jay (Heather) Dery of Kenansville, Richard W. Dery, Jr. of Key West, David (Judi) Dery and Stephen (Donna) Dery, both of Webster, Mass.; six grandchildren; sister, Rachel (Jim) Avery of Warrington; uncle, Father Henry Dery of Hartford, Conn.; sister-in-law, Barbara Brand of Okeechobee; and father-in-law, Earl Roosa of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

William P. Evers
William P. Evers, age 90, of Leesburg, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at his home.
Mr. Evers was born in Thomasville, Ga. He was a truck driver for St. Lucie County Road Department for 28 years and also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Ft. Pierce.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Chilson; two sons, William T. Evers of Lake Placid and Robert Evers of Leesburg; two daughters, Patricia Powell of Ft. Pierce and Kathleen Evers of Okeechobee; step-sons, Clay Edward Copelan and Lincoln Copelan, both of Ft. Pierce; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home, 226 East Burleigh Blvd., Tavares (352) 343-8000.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, at 10 a.m., at Aycock Funeral Home Chapel, 1504 S.E. Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie.
Steverson Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Home in Tavares is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Charles Adriance
Thomas Charles Adriance, age 52, of Indiantown, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee.
Mr. Adriance was born Dec. 27, 1950, in Endicott, N.Y., son of John Douglas and Frances (Stanley) Adriance. He was a schoolteacher by trade.
Survivors include: his wife, Alberta Adriance of Indiantown; three sons, John E. Adriance of Port St. Lucie, Timothy M. Adriance of Okeechobee and Thomas C. Adriance, II of Heightstown, N.J.; two grandchildren; one brother, Theodore Adriance of Okeechobee; and his mother, Frances Adriance of Indiantown.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 18, from 9 a.m. until Funeral Service time at 10 a.m., at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Josephine Eleanor Gangwer Wilser
Josephine Eleanor Gangwer Wilser, age 83, of Palm Bay and formerly of Okeechobee, died June 2, 2003, at the HQM Nursing Home in Palm Bay. Born Feb. 20, 1920, in Elkhart, Ind., daughter of Joseph Delancy and Ethel Beaudette. Josie had been a resident of Florida for many years.
Preceded in death by: her husbands, Homer Gangwer and Henry Wilser; sons, Charles Gangwer and George Gangwer; and daughter-in-law, Sandy.
Survivors include: grandson, Mike (Beth) Gangwer; granddaughter, Kim (Danny) Williams and their children, Danielle and husband, Jonathan, Barney, Justin and Jamie; grandson, Mark Gangwer; stepsons, Mike Wilser and family and David Nilson; sister, Jean; daughter-in-law, Sandi Gangwer; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A private family memorial service was held by the family in the Gangwer Family Gardens in Palm Bay.
All arrangements have been under the direction of the Brownlie and Maxwell Funeral Home of Melbourne.

Wanda Ruth Harvey Atkins
Wanda Ruth Harvey Atkins, age 68, of Jefferson, Ga., died Sunday, July 13, 2003, at her residence. Born April 2, 1935, in Jackson County, Ga. Mrs. Atkins was a secretary by trade.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Gene Atkins; and her parents, Walter B. Harvey, Sr. and Nettie Ruth (Mixon) Harvey.
Survivors include: one son, Bret Atkins of Columbus, Ohio; four sisters, Doris Childers of Roanoke, Va., Peggy Fulford of Okeechobee, Marguerite Knowles of Ocala and Barbara Sharp of McMinnville, Tenn.; and one brother, Walter B. Harvey, Jr. of Jefferson, Ga.
Visitation was held on July 15. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m., at the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson, Ga., with Reverend Rick Lane officiating. Interment to be held in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson, Ga.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 767 Oglethorpe Ave., Athens, Ga., 30606.
All arrangements have been made under the direction of the Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson, Ga.
