Rebecca C. Kepp
Rebecca C. Kepp, age 96, of Canal Point, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. She was born July 30, 1906, in Shady Grove, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Cockran.
Mrs. Kepp was a homemaker, a lifetime resident of Canal Point and a member of the Canal Point Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald B. Kepp; son, Jasper Reid; and daughter, Betty.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 9, at 11 a.m., at the Canal Point Methodist Church, with Pastor David Broadbent, officiating. Interment will be in Port Mayaca Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Clara B. Nichols
Clara B. Nichols, age 91, of Lakeport, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility. Born Aug. 13, 1911, in Patterson, Mo., Mrs. Nichols had been a resident of Lakeport since 1995.
Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara (Robert) Geiskopf of Lakeport and Marilyn Abbott of Lake City; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Vallance of Washington; and one sister, Ethel Wagner of St. Louis, Mo.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory

James Floyd Hensley
James Floyd Hensley, age 40, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, June 5, 2003.
Mr. Hensley was born Sept. 22, 1962, in Berea, Ky., son of Elmer and Ursaline (Damrell) Hensley. He was a musician by trade.
Survivors include: his parents, Elmer and Ursaline Hensley of Byron, Ga.; two brothers, Leroy and Kelley Hensley, both of Byron, Ga.; fianc/e, Karen D. Melvin of Okeechobee; and two daughters, Heather Holbert and Amber Holbert of Okeechobee also survive him.
There will be no visitation or services.
Arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Doug Harper
Doug Harper, age 71, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Life Care Center of Melbourne. Born on July 7, 1929, in Hebron, Texas, Mr. Harper came to Okeechobee from Melbourne in 1984. He was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was a Security Guard by trade.
Survivors include: daughters; Darla Jean Rinehart (Bruce) of Palm Bay, Bonnie K. Gardner (Barry) of Melbourne; son, Darrell D. Harper of Melbourne; sister, Dorothy LaChance of Calif., four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, June 7, 2001, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services is Friday, June 8, 2001, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, located at 310 S.W. Sixth Street, Okeechobee.
Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted under the direction and care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home.

Virginia Lillian Hance Gamlen
Virginia Lillian Hance Gamlen, age 77, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at her residence. Born Oct. 7, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Gamlen had been a resident of Florida since 1957 and has resided in Okeechobee since 1974. She was retired after working 19 years as Administrative Assistant of Food Fair; and she had also worked for 11 years at Raulerson Hospital as superintendent of the insurance department. Mrs. Gamlen was a member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: her husband of six years, Lewis B. Gamlen of Okeechobee; one daughter, Lynn Virginia Abis (Howard) of Miami; two grandsons, Wes A. Sutton of Denver, Colo. and Dwayne Quick of Miami; two stepsons, Scott Gamlen (Barbara) and Darren Gamlen (Rita) of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three stepdaughters, Judy Mauk (Lloyd), Lou Ann Gruetter (Stanley) and Dale Hawkins (Tommy) all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 11 step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and, one brother, John Joseph Hance of Doylestown, Pa.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Peace Lutheran Church, 750 N.W. 23rd Lane, on Monday, June 11, at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Hirst, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla., 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Joseph Harry Osteen, Jr.
Joseph Harry Osteen, Jr., age 79, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie. Born November 22, 1921, in Wauchula, Mr. Osteen had been a resident of Okeechobee for 32 years. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, serving in England.
Preceded in death by: his wife, Jeanette and granddaughter, Elizabeth Michelle Osteen.
Survivors include: two sons, Robert C. Osteen (Signa) of Encinitas, Calif., and Kenneth L. Osteen (Paula) of Okeechobee; one daughter, Pamela L. Ashburn (Jerry) of Knoxville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Saturday, June 9, 2001, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Graveside funeral services and interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery on Sunday, June 10, 2001, at 11 a.m.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Willis Newton Long
Willis Newton Long, age 90, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Inc. in Fort Pierce. Born Sept. 4, 1912, in Mendon, Mo., Mr. Long had been a resident of Okeechobee for two and a half years. He served in the Coast Guard during World War II and he enjoyed fishing.
Preceded in death by: his wives, Mildred Long, Fern Long and Mary Long; and two daughters, Janet and Faye.
Survivors include: two sons, Norman Mersman and Jim Volaski of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter, Wanda Philbrick of Okeechobee; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Fangerow of California.
There will be no visitation or services. Interment will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Gladstone, Mo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fl. 34973.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Walter A. "Swede" Nelson
Walter A. "Swede" Nelson, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital in Okeechobee. Born March 30, 1920, in Beaver, Pa., Mr. Nelson had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1977. He was a retired Merchant Marine with the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the VFW, South Post. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and Okeechobee Flyers Club. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes.
Survivors include: his wife of 18 years, Irene Knapp Nelson; two sons, Daney Nelson of Jacksonville and Willie Nelson of Las Vegas, Nev.; six daughters, Sheri (Jim Beaulieu) Nelson of Fort Pierce, Aida (Martin) Garcia, Patricia (Don) Clements and Mary Ann (Don) Jernigan, all of Okeechobee, Nancy (Lem) Friday of Strafford, Mo. and Kathleen (Al) Wilt of Boynton Beach; sixteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren also survive him.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m., until funeral service time at noon. James Shaffer, Quarter Master of South VFW Post, will officiate.
A memorial reception will follow at the South VFW Post on Highway 441 Southeast in Okeechobee.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Michael Paul McManus
Michael Paul McManus, age 60, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at his residence. Born July 3, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. McManus had been a resident of Okeechobee for six years. He served 24 in a half years in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Fleet Reserve, Eagles and Masonic Lodge of Jacksonville.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, crossword puzzles, darts, football and Nascar.
Survivors include: his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Nancy L. McManus of Okeechobee; one son, Michael Byron McManus and wife, Debra of Jacksonville; one daughter, Catherine Jeanette Harrison and husband, Floyd of New Carlisle, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and, one great-grandson. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, John McManus of North Carolina and Bill McManus of Dayton, Ohio.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fla. 34973.

Loui Allison Meredith
Loui Allison Meredith, age 83, of Okeechobee, died Friday, May 30, 2003, in Okeechobee.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 11 a.m., at the Dade Memorial Park in Miami.

Robert K. Butler
Robert K. Butler, age 75, an Okeechobee resident for 35 years, died Sunday, June 3, 2001. He was born in Hollywood and was a life-long dairy farmer. Mr. Butler moved his dairy operation to Highlands and Okeechobee counties in 1965. He served in the United States Air Force from March 1944 until October 1945. He was a charter member of Independent Dairy Farmers Association and Dairy Council of Florida and served on the board of Florida Dairy Farmers Association.
He was a past Master of the Hollywood Masonic Lodge No. 209, past president and member of the Okeechobee Kiwanis Club, a charter director of Commercial Bank of Okeechobee, served on the Okeechobee County Hospital Board, Board of Trustees of H.H. Raulerson Jr. Memorial Hospital from 1982-1984, 32nd Degree Mason - Okeechobee Amara Shrine Club. He was inducted into the Dairy Hall of Fame in 1992. He was past Deacon of Oakview Baptist Church.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 53 years, Mildred; three sons, Robert L. and his wife Pam, Ronald D. and his wife Rosa, and Roger P. and his wife Zoe; three sisters, Jewel Dalton (Honore) of Avon Park, Mary Yeuell (Leon) of Jacksonville and Audrey Gordon of Hollywood; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Oakview Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at the Oakview Baptist Church with Pastor John Keith and Pastor Charlie Rice officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the Oakview Baptist Church building fund, Okeechobee.

William Ralph Jones Sr.
William Ralph Jones Sr., age 75, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Sept. 5, 1925, in Lottie, Ala., Mr. Jones had been a resident of Okeechobee for four years. He served in the Navy during World War II as a Guns Mate First Class. He was involved with the Lion's Club and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 55 years, Virginia Jones of Okeechobee; two sons, William R. Jones Jr., of Fort Lauderdale and Charles E. Jones (LaDonna) of Winter Springs; one daughter, Linda Wells (Robert) of Coral Gables; four grandchildren, Virginia, Lindsay, Ayse and Jessica; one great-grandchild; two brothers, V.H. Jones Jr. (Dorothy) of Homestead and Joe Max Jones (Shelby) of Mississippi; two sisters, Edna Ruth Griffin of McKenzie, Ala. And Bobbie Rae Davis of Hammon, La.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, June 7, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Buxton Funeral Home on Friday, June 8, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. John Keith, Pastor of Oakview Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Cesare V. Coslop Jr.
Cesare V. Coslop Jr., age 79, of Okeechobee, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born May 30, 1922, in S. Vineland, N.J., Mr. Coslop had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1987.
Survivors include: two sons, Cesare V. Coslop III (Linda) of Vineland, N.J., and Michael Coslop of Malaga, N.J.; two daughters, Janet McCann of Melville, N.J. and Jean Ivey of Camolen, Maine; eight grandchildren; and, two sisters, Catherine Morgan of Melville, N.J. and Florence Winnermer of Egg Harbor, N.J.
There will no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
