Virginia Osceola
Virginia Osceola, age 43, of Brighton Seminole Reservation in Okeechobee, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1960, in Okeechobee, Ms. Osceola had been a lifetime resident of Brighton in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: son, Dennis Whitaker Jr. of Lorida; two daughters, Neka Garcia and Susy Sedatol of Okeechobee; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Larry Osceola and Johnny Osceola of Brighton, Lonnie Buck of Big Cypress and Curtis A. Osceola of Hollywood; and two sisters, Arica Buck and Oneva Jones of Brighton.
Graveside services and interment will be conducted on Monday, May 19, at 11 a.m., at Ortona Cemetery.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Joan Katherine Romer
Joan Katherine Romer, age 65, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, May 10,2001, at Raulerson Hospital.
Born Oct. 12, 1935, Mrs. Romer had been a resident of Okeechobee for 16 years. She loved her church, Oakview Baptist, and her sisters and brothers in Christ. Her greatest hope was that all her family would one day be reunited in Heaven.
Survivors include: her husband of 33 years, Allen Romer of Okeechobee; seven children; 15 grandchildren; and, two great-grandchildren.
There will be no visitation or services. Her wish was that everyone remembers her with a smile.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakview Baptist Church Building Fund.

Kenneth Richard Elias
Kenneth Richard Elias, age 49, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Born Feb. 23, 1952 in Detroit, Mich., Mr. Elias had been a resident of Okeechobee for over 12 years. He worked as a customer service manager at Wal-Mart. Mr. Elias was a lifetime member of AmVets.
Survivors include: his parents, Leo George Elias and Catherine Pearl Elias of Okeechobee; one brother, Anthony D. Elias of Upper Michigan; and two sisters, Gloria Elias of Avon Park and Nesema Whitis of Pembroke Pines.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, from 2 until 4 p.m. A funeral service will follow visitation at 4 p.m.
Interment will take place at a later date in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg, Pa.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Robert Charles McQueen
Robert Charles McQueen, age 47, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at his residence. Born July 16, 1955, in Sebring, Mr. McQueen was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his parents, Elder Hayward, Sr. and Mabel McQueen of Okeechobee; nine brothers, Perry (Marie) of Fort Lauderdale, Lawrence, Frank and Daris of Okeechobee, Hayward, Jr. of Miami, Kenneth of Yazoo City, Miss., Terry (Actavis) of Fort Pierce, Henry (Gloria) of Fayetteville, N.C. and David (Charlotte) of Deltona; 13 sisters, Esther and Scottina of Fort Lauderdale, Elizabeth (James), Fabia (Spencer), Vanesha (Bruce), Valentina (Jimmy), Cynthia (Vernon), Jeannie (Freddie), Farecia, all of Okeechobee, Brenda (Dan) of Fort Pierce, Priscilla (Gregory) of Kankakee, Ill., Louvella of Apopka and Tasha of Indiantown; sister-in-law, Jackie of Columbus, Ga.; special godparents, Rev. Willie and Nettie Moore of Okeechobee and Sister King of Fort Lauderdale; Godbrother, Elder Willie Olds; Godsister, Alta Faye Blair; numerous other Godbrothers and Godsisters; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be conducted on Saturday, May 17, at Bethel Baptist Church, 1258 N.E. 13th Ave., in Okeechobee from 10 a.m. until funeral service time at noon. Elder Dan Jones will officiate and interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Morine R. (Dutch) Coyne
Morine R. (Dutch) Coyne, age 72, of Okeechobee, died Monday, May 12, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Coyne was born on Dec. 9, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., and had been a resident of Okeechobee for one year. Previously of Central Lake, Mich., Mrs. Coyne worked for 17 years for Michigan Bell Telephone and later was a business owner with her husband. She was a very warm and loving wife and mother that enjoyed sewing and playing golf. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include: her beloved husband of 40 years, Lowell (Babe) Coyne of Okeechobee; son, Gary (Mary) Fisher of Colorado; two daughters, Aileen Nelson and Candace Nelson of Riverview; and two grandchildren, Gary Fisher, Jr., and Mandy Fisher also survive her.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Fl. 34973.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Hazel Marie Gray
Hazel Marie Gray, age 67, of Lake Worth, died May 9, 2003.
Arrangements were by North American Cremation Society, Deerfield Beach.

Paul Newton Waddell, Jr.
Paul Newton Waddell, Jr., age 79, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Mr. Waddell was born March 21, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio. Previously of Longview, Texas, he had been a resident of Okeechobee for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW, DAV (lifetime) and Moose Lodge.
Mr. Waddell is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth L. Waddell of Okeechobee.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Claude M. Jones
Claude M. Jones, age 68, of Lorida died Sunday morning, June 8, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring. Mr. Jones was a native of Wahalla, S.C. and had been a resident of Lorida for the past 30 years, coming from Okeechobee. He was self-employed as a meat cutter in his slaughterhouse, as well as a rancher. Claude was a member of the First Baptist Church in Basinger.
Survivors include: his wife, Eleanor L. (Parker) Jones; children, Edward (Teresa) Jones, Ella (Pat) Myers and Fran (Calvin) Turner, all of Lake Placid; three sisters, Rachael Frady of South Carolina, Winona Salone of Florida and Ann Kelley of Georgia; four brothers, John of Okeechobee, Rufus of Georgia, Ostelle of Georgia and Paul of Ft. Myers; grandchildren, Gary (Amy) Turner, Crocket (Monica) Turner, Brittany and Brandon Turner; and great-grandchildren, Chelsey and Bailey Turner also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 6 until 8 p.m., in the chapel of Scott Funeral Home.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, at Scott Funeral Home with a one-hour visitation prior to services. Serving as pallbearers are: Gary, Crocket and Calvin Turner, Pat Myers, Brandon, Chad, Tom and Matt Jones. Interment will follow services in Basinger Cemetery. Pastor Jesse H. Jones will officiate.
Arrangements are under the loving guidance of Scott Funeral Home in Lake Placid.

Zebbie Joe "Buddy" Usher, Sr.
Zebbie Joe "Buddy" Usher, Sr., age 86, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his residence. Born Oct. 30, 1916, in Cardif, Ala., Mr. Usher had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1987. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Fairfield, Ala. and Okeechobee. His favorite pastime was fishing.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 65 years, Beatrice Usher of Okeechobee; one son, Zebbie J. Usher, Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two daughters, Doris (Jack) Noble of San Antonio, Texas and Judy (John) Hale of Decatur, Ala.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harry (Catherine) Usher of Parrish, Ala. also survives him.
There will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Linda Gail Stice
Linda Gail Stice, age 48, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born July 2, 1952, Miss Stice had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1974 and was a member of the Eastern Star of Okeechobee. She was an elementary school teacher in Okeechobee for 27 years and had taught at Seminole Elementary for the last 10 years. Her love of teaching consumed her life. She was a member of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus.
Preceded in death by her mother, Eva Stice, she is survived by her father and stepmother, Warner and Ruby Stice of Louisville, Ky.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, May 9, 2001, at 5 p.m., with Father Emilian Swiatecki, Pastor of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL. 34973; American Cancer Society, Okeechobee Chapter, P.O. Edith W. Bryan
Edith W. Bryan, age 89, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Lake Wales Medical Center.
Mrs. Bryan was born on March 17, 1914, in Highlands County. She was a life long resident of Highlands, Hardee and Polk County areas. Mrs. Bryan was a homemaker and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was instrumental in starting several mission churches in Central Florida and was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by: her husband, Hubert Earl Bryan; and sons, Bruce Thomas and Kenneth Earl Bryan.
Survivors include: her son, James R. and wife, Irene Bryan of Winter Haven; daughters-in-law, Cindy Bryan of Lake Wales and Daun Joan Bryan of Okeechobee; and seven grandchildren also survive her.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m., at the New Hope Cemetery in Wauchula, with Reverend Barry Hooten officiating.
All arrangements have been under the direction of the Marion Nelson Funeral Home of Lake Wales.

Jeffrey Scott Fraley
Jeffrey Scott Fraley, age 36, of Royal Palm Beach, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Fraley was born on Oct. 8, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio.
Survivors include: his beloved wife of four years, Theresa Fraley of Royal Palm Beach; two sons, Christopher Corbin of Naples and Joey Fraley of Melbourne; daughter, Jillian Grace Fraley of Royal Palm Beach; father, Fred (Bobbie) Fraley of Lancaster, Ohio; mother, Grace A. Williams of Seminole; two brothers, Kevin M. Fraley of Okeechobee and Andrew P. Fraley of Bexley, Ohio; sister, Cynthia Jo Williams of Columbus, Ohio; aunt, Paula Hahnert of St. Petersburg; and countless friends also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 9, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Douglas Fountain, Pastor of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Lake Worth will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Beulah G. Ginder
Beulah G. Ginder, age 75, of Okeechobee, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital. Mrs. Ginder was born on June 15, 1927, in Pike County, Ky. and had been a resident of Okeechobee for eight years. She was a member of Abundant Blessings Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ginder.
Survivors include: one son, Mark A. Ginder of Oakland Park; two daughters, Stephanie Taylor of Peotone, Ill. and Michele Ginder of Washington, N.C.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chester Rowe of Falls Brook, Calif. and Earl Rowe of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and five sisters, Ellen Morris of Wilmore, Ky., Phoebe Colman of Newark, Del., Ruby Colman of Stonepark, Ill., Evelyn Voelkner of Arlington Heights, lll. and Louise Holbrook of Lookout, Ky.
Friends may call at the Buxton Funeral Home on Monday, May 12, from 9 a.m. until funeral service time at 11 a.m. Rev. Jerry Atkins, Pastor of Fort Drum Community Church will officiate and internment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ivan D. Kelchner
Ivan D. Kelchner, age 81, of Okeechobee, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born Feb. 19,1920, in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Kelchner came to Hialeah in 1956 and worked in Dade County in Shop One. He retired in 1981 and moved to Okeechobee in January of 1981.
Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Mary Ellen Kelchner of Okeechobee; daughter, Joyce Opera of South Bend, Ind.; two sons, Ivan Dale and wife, Jenny Kelchner and Ted and wife Denise Kelchner; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and, two great-great-grandchildren. In addition, he is also survived by one brother, Raymond and wife, Margaret Kelchner of Arizona; three sisters, Mary Vanderveld of Dayton, Ohio, Doris Carter and husband, Don of Troy, Ohio and Vera Miller and husband Jack of Dayton, Ohio.
The family will receive friends at the Buxton Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, from 5 until 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 11, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Leslie, Pastor, Okeechobee Presbyterian Church and Rev. Dave Robertson, Pastor, Buckhead Ridge Christian Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.
