William H. Evans
William H. Evans, 75, died on January 7, 2001, in Fort Pierce. Mr. Evans was born in Irvine, Ky, and was a resident of Okeechobee before moving to Fort Pierce six months ago. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired Radio Announcer.
Survivors include: one son, William H. Evans, Jr., and one daughter, Gladys Evans Carr.
Funeral services are on Friday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce. Pastor Charles Morton will be officiating the services.
All arrangements are entrusted to the care of Haisley-Hobbs Funeral Home, Inc. in Fort Pierce.

Robert D. "Bobby" Blakeney
Robert D. "Bobby" Blakeney, age 57, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Blakeney was born on July 24, 1945, in Laurel, Miss., the son of Clyde R. and Winnie M. Blakeney. Mr. Blakeney came to Okeechobee from West Palm Beach in 1988. He was baptized at the Haverhill Baptist Church in West Pam Beach in 1959.
Survivors include: his mother, Winnie M. Blakeney of Okeechobee; two brothers, Mitch (Karen) Blakeney of Okeechobee and Chuck (Stephanie) Blakeney of Carrollton, Ga.; two sisters, Carol Moore of Okeechobee and Brenda Franklin of Lake Worth; nieces and nephews, Jim Patterson, Brenda Patterson Beach, Bubba Franklin, Angela Franklin Lacey, David Blakeney, Scott Blakeney and Jessica Blakeney; great nieces and nephews, Chuck Beach, Travis Beach, Shelby Blakeney, Dalton Blakeney and Spencer Lacey also survive him.
There will be no visitation.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m., at the Bass Funeral Home Chapel, with Hospice Chaplain Elma Hampton, officiating.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Homer L. Wyatt, Sr.
Homer L. Wyatt, Sr., age 79, of Okeechobee, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Raulerson Hospital.
Mr. Wyatt was born on Sept. 13, 1923, in Whiteville, N.C., son of E. Thomas and Nettie (Todd) Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt was a foreman for South Florida Water Management District. He moved to Okeechobee in 1965; was of the Baptist faith and served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include: his wife, Allie R. Wyatt of Okeechobee; two sons, H.L. Wyatt, Jr. of Flower Mound, Texas and Everett Wyatt of Plant City; two daughters, Paulette Wyatt of North Carolina and Dorothy Roberts of Okeechobee; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren also survive him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, prior to services from 10 until 11 a.m., at the Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m., at the Okeechobee Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Lindell Selvey, officiating. Interment to be in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangement are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Richard Yontz
Richard Yontz, (Pappy) (Buddy), age 73, of Pompano Beach died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001. Born in Tampa and previous resident of Okeechobee. he served in the Army after WWII . He was a letter Carrier with the U.S. Post Office in Pompano Beach until his retirement in 1993. He was an avid Bass fisherman.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 52 years; Ella Mae,one daughter, Jean(Guy) Gallo of Coral Springs, two sons; Clayton Yontz (Pam) of Sunrise and Robert Yontz (Cheryl) of Ft. Lauderdale, seven grandchildren; Casey, Cara & Christie Yontz, Danny, Tina & Lisa Gallo, Candice Yontz, one great-grandson, Andrew, three sisters; Helen Keene of Mich., Maude (Dwayne) Jones of Ga., Lucy (Wally) Edmondson of Lakeland, two brothers; Raymond Yontz of Pompano Beach and Billy Beville (Nancy) of Kissimmee.
Viewing will start at 2 until 4 p.m.Friday at the Kraeer Funeral Home in Pompano Beach where services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation, 3440 Hollywood Blvd., Suite 100, Hollywood, Fl. 33021.

Lola C. Evans
Lola C. Evans, age 88, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at her residence. Born July 22, 1912, in Marlette, Mich., Mrs. Evans had been a resident of Okeechobee for 32 years, having formerly resided in Flint, Mich.
Survivors include: her husband, Ralph Evans of Okeechobee; three daughters, Alice Cooper (Harry) of Haines City, Carol Hennessy (Leonard) of Okeechobee and Vicki Gaffney (Robert) of Flint, Mich.; one son, Ralph Evans (Amanda) of Hialeah; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and, one great-great-granddaughter.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

George D. Pitts Jr.
George D. Pitts Jr., age 48, of Okeechobee, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Raulerson Hospital. Born July 9, 1952, in Zanesville, Ohio, Mr. Pitts had been a resident of Okeechobee for five years. He enjoyed playing bingo.
Survivors include: his devoted wife of 30 years, Margaret Pitts of Okeechobee; two sons, Joe Pitts and Terry Pitts of Okeechobee; two daughters, Kimm Pitts and Carrie Pitts of Okeechobee; three grandsons, Thomas Pitts, Dennis Pitts and Juno Rosias of West Palm Beach; and, one granddaughter, Ashley Church of West Palm Beach.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Gerald Franklin Hair, Jr.
Gerald Franklin Hair, Jr., age 51, died Dec. 30, 2002. A native of Pahokee, he moved to Silver Springs from Okeechobee in 1983. Mr. Hair was co-owner of Katheryn Hair Cleaning Services and a member of Silver Springs congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mr. Hair enjoyed diving, fishing and wood carving.
Survivors include: his wife, Katheryn Hair of Silver Springs; three daughters, Christy Farrenkoff of Okeechobee, Shannon Stevens and Brittany Darnell, both of Silver Springs; three brothers, Mark Hair of Okeechobee, Curt Hair and Tony Hair, both of Silver Springs; mother, Marjene Hair of Silver Springs; father, Gerald Hair, Sr. of Okeechobee; and three grandchildren also survive him.
All information was provided by the Florida Cremation Society of Ocala.

Ruth H. Harlow
Ruth H. Harlow, age 60, of Okeechobee, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Harlow was born on Aug. 1, 1942, she had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1969. Mrs. Harlow was a member of Haven Ministries and enjoyed flea markets and Avon sales.
Survivors include: her husband of 11 months, James H. Harlow of Okeechobee; daughter, Janet Ann Moore Matthews of Hutchinson Island; two brothers, Rick Urish of Port St. Lucie and Robert Urish of Marlett, Ga.; two grandchildren; three stepsons, James Jeffery Harlow and Calvin Edward Harlow, both of Buckhead Ridge and J.D. Harlow of Pontiac, Mich.; one stepdaughter, Libby Marie Davis of Lake Wales; six step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 10 a.m., at the Buxton Funeral Home, with Brother David Burney and Chaplain Danny Oakes, officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements have been under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Elmer Lee Underwood
Elmer Lee Underwood, age 72, died January 7, 2001 at the V.A. Medical Center in West Palm Brach. He was born on Oct. 20, 1928 in Ravenna, Texas. Mr. Underwood was in the U.S. Army during WW. II and received a Victory Medal and Army of Occupation medal in Japan. Mr. Underwood owned and operated a mobile home sales business in Okeechobee.
Survivors include: his wife, Naomia "Polly"Underwood of Okeechobee, two sons: Nickey Underwood & wife Susan , and Dale Underwood & wife Bettye of Okeechobee, five grandchildren: William, Laurie, Lisa, Jennifer, Rhonda & Nonah, three great-grandchildren: Allayah, Makayla and Megan. Two sisters; Doris Boswell & husband Jim, and Evelyn Richardson, one brother; Earl Underwood & wife Johnnie, two sisters-in-law: Tommie Bowlin and Dorothy Underwood, one brother-in-law; John Akard and wife Bettye and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will on Friday, Jan. 12 starting at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Richard E. Whipple officiating.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 11, starting at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Bass Funeral Home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Rosalie Fitch
Rosalie Fitch, age 63, beloved and cherished wife of 46 years to Robert A. Fitch of Basinger, was called home by the Lord Friday, Jan. 5, 2001. She was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Herber Springs, Ark.
Rosalie adored her family which includes her sons and daughter-in-law, Robert D. Fitch of Port St. Lucie, and John W. and Kimberly Fitch of Oakland Park, as well as her daughter and son-in-law Sissy and Dr. Marty Allen of St. Joseph, Ill. She was a dedicated grandmother to four adored grandchildren, Kristin and Chelsea Allen and Alexa and Johnny Fitch. She considered herself blessed with loving parents-in-law, Don and Florence Fitch of Sebring, and her brother, Jim Smith and sister Genevive Jethro of Herber Springs, Ark. She also treasured her nephew Don Cooper and family of Port St. Lucie and niece Jo-Ann Young and family of Lake Wales.
A graveside service will be held at the Basinger Cemetery in Basinger on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m. Her family will also be holding a remembrance gathering for family and friends on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 1 until 3 p.m. at the O.P. Collins Community Center, 3900 N.E. Third Ave., Oakland Park, Fla.

Eula H. Cox
Eula H. Cox, age 88, of Stuart, died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Hospice of Martin County.
Mrs. Cox was born on Sept. 18, 1914, in Baker, Florida, the daughter of Dallas and Lila (Barnhill) Pearden. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker by trade.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 71 years, Elbert W. Cox, Sr. of Stuart; her son, Elbert W. Cox, Jr. of Stuart; two daughters, Jewel E. Kidd of Cape Coral and Betty Watkins Kohn of Coconut Creek; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. until service time at the Good Shepherd Church of God in Pahokee.
Funeral services will be conducted following visitation on Friday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Church of God, with Pastor James Brewer, officiating. Interment will be in Port Mayaca Cemetery.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Martha Elizabeth Smith
Martha Elizabeth Smith, age 78, of Okeechobee, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie.
Mrs. Smith was born on May 2, 1924, in Washington, Pa. She had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1984. Mrs. Smith retired in 1984 after 20 years with Western State School and Hospital in Canonsburg, Pa. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and her hobbies included ceramics and swimming.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Gnagey.
Survivors include: one son, Paul (Karen) Smith of Williamsburg, Va.; one daughter, Sally (David) Wibbels of Okeechobee; three grandsons, Eric Wibbels of Orlando, Michael Wibbels of Beaufort, S.C. and Christopher Smith of Williamsburg, Va.; two granddaughters, Heather Wibbels of Okeechobee and Jennifer Smith of Williamsburg, Va., also survive her.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at 2 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 200 N.W. Second St., with Pastor Fred Gardner, officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction and care of the Buxton Funeral Home and Crematory.

Millicent V. Crossman
Millicent V. Crossman, 87, of Okeechobee, died on Jan. 7, 2003, at Okeechobee Health Care Facility.
Mrs. Crossman was born on April 4, 1915, in Albion, N.Y., the daughter of James and Valerie (Rice) Noreck.
She was a homemaker by trade and came to Okeechobee from San Diego, Calif., seven years ago.
Survivors include: Two daughters, Sharon Seaver of Okeechobee and Diane Ryan of Gulfport, Miss.; granddaughter, Traci Wilderman of Okeechobee; sister, Mary Craddock of Albion, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren also survive her.
There will be no visitation or services.
All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
