Oretha McBeth
McBeth, Oretha, 89 of Dade City and formerly of Homosassa Springs, FL, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007. She was born April 6, 1918 in Cottondale, FL the daughter of James and Bertie Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McBeth, her parents, her brother Asbury Lewis, sister, Eleda Griffin and her nephew, Robert Bryant, Sr. She is survived by her siblings, Stella Bryant, Dade City, Charles Lewis, Dade City, Edward Lewis, Spring Lake, Helen Thomas and Leo Lewis; many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel. Graveside services will be 11 am Friday at Chapel Hill Gardens with Dr. Buddy Hollyfield officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice.

John F. Gaurino, Sr.
Gaurino, John F. Sr., 71 years of St. Pete and formerly of Zephyrhills, passed away Monday, May 14. He was a hairdresser. He was born Jan. 31, 1936 in Rochester, NY. He is survived by his parents, Vito and Inez Gaurino; his three sons, William, John and Gary, and four grandchildren, all of Pinellas Co. Burial and services were held at Chapel Hill Gardens, Dade City. Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel, Dade City, FL in charge of arrangements.

Paul F. Yasinskas
Yasinskas, Paul F., 80, of Dade City, died Monday, May 14, 2007. A native of Scranton, PA, he moved to this area in 1984. He retired from St. Leo University as a Security Officer. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maria; three children, Carol Sarakos of Sneads Ferry, NC, Gail Hurchick of Scranton and Patrick Yasinskas of Charlotte, NC. Funeral Services will be held in Scranton.

Arlene Della Parrish
Parrish, Alene Della, 79, of Dade City, went to rejoin her husband on Friday, May 11, 2007. A native of Florence, AL, she moved to this area in 1960. She worked for the Hillsborough County School System for 25 years. She was a member of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church and will be sorely missed by the Ladies
of the St. Gregorious Apartments, as well as all who knew her. Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Shores of Redding, CA, Glenda Anderson of Riverview, Lois Skelton of Seffner and Debra Andrews of Land O'Lakes; two sons, Larry Parrish of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Donald Parrish of Land O'Lakes; 13 Grandchildren; and 16 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2007. Funeral services will
be held at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Alan Wilkett officiating. Burial will follow at Lake Carroll Cemetery in Tampa.

Lorise Abraham
Lorise Abraham of Dade City, FL passed away Thursday, May 10, 2007. Lorise was born July 7, 1928, in Lacoochee, FL and moved to Dade City in March of 1954. Since 1945, Lorise has been a devout member of St. Rita's Catholic Church in Dade City. Although she graduated from Pasco High School in 1946, she always remained a Lacoochee girl at heart. CO-owning Zip Fuel Company for over 50 years, Lorise's gift of gab and unique perspective on life, touched the hearts
of both young and old, human and canine, alike. During her younger years, she was an avid traveler and continued to love the Arts well into her retirement.
Lorise was predeceased by her parents Elias and Esther Abraham, brother Lewis, nephew Bobby, niece Laura Lee, cousin Tommy Abraham and 3 beloved pets;
Ashes, Bonnie and Clyde. She is survived by her pet poodle Baby Love Abraham, sister-in-law Mildred Abraham, niece Lisa (Kip) Rodenberry, nephew Tony (Pam) Abraham. Great nephews Bo and David Rodenberry, Chad Abraham, Kye (Jodi) Abraham and Joey Hart; Great nieces, Andria Abraham, Kristen Rodenberry, and Ariel Hart. Great-great nephews Chad and Aaron Abraham, and Andrew Hart. Beloved relatives and friends; CD (Bill) Shanahan, Dawn Abraham, Jeanette Merritt and Raleigh Joe (Rita), Elvis (Tammy), and Tina Goddard, Tommy (Becky) and Louis (Debra) Panebianco; Selma and Al Tackla, Evelyn Deeb, Rose and John Mellis of Cleveland, Ohio, Helen and Bob Slager of Lafayette, Indiana; Otto and Elaine Weitzenkorn, Joan Weitzenkorn Wadler. A visitation will be held from 5 - 7 PM on Monday, May 14th at Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City and a mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at 2 PM with Father Edwin officiating. Burial will follow the mass at Floral Memory Gardens in Dade City. Donations can be made to the Lewis Abraham Boys and Girls Club of Lacoochee, FL, or Hernando Pasco Hospice.

Br. Joachim Svetlosky O.S.B.
Br. Joachim Svetlosky O.S.B., 90, died peacefully late night on Wednesday May 9th 2007, after he had undergone a surgical procedure to improve blockage in the artery to his left leg at Pasco Regional Medical Center. Brother Joachim, was born John Joseph Svetlosky, of Andrew Svetlosky and Veronica Skop in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. October 13, 1916. The fourth of six children, He graduated from Nanticoke High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College and was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church in Nanticoke. Prior to entering the monastery, Brother Joachim served in the U.S. Air Force for five years. He was stationed at Maxwell Field, Ala. and Bainbridge Air Force Basic Flying School, Ga., as chief clerk and Master Sergeant. He culminated his assignment with a tour of duty in the European Theater of operations during World War II as a member of the 15th fighter Command in Italy. He then, joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 10 years, being assigned to the unit in Wilkes-Barre. After his discharge from the service, he worked for the U.S. Post Office in Nanticoke, the census Bureau in Washington, D.C. and also the Veterans Administration in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Entering the Benedictine Monastic Community of Saint Leo Abbey, Saint Leo, Florida; April 10, 1956, and after eight months as a Postulant and one year as a novice, he made his profession of monastic vows as Brother Joachim on December 15, 1957. At Saint Leo Abbey, Brother Joachim assumed duties as manager of the Abbey Press (1956) Secretary to Fr. Stephen, O.S.B. The Headmaster of The St. Leo Preparatory School; He also worked in the College Library (1956-1958) and as Postmaster of the Town of Saint Leo (1967 to 1970). He served as Sub-prior and as secretary of two religious superiors for House; Abbot Fidelis Dunlap O.S.B., and Abbot Patrick Shelton O.S.B, (1970 - 1985 - 1996). He was active in the Knights of Columbus; Abbot Charles Mohr Council # 5630 (Financial Secretary since 1970); San Antonio # 1768 Council (Member); Daniel E. Cannon Assembly 1444, San Antonio, Florida (4th Degree) he was also a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Post # 1917, Lakeland, Florida. In more recent years, Br. Joachim resided in the Abbey Infirmary-retirement center. One could always find him working away in his special projects room. He was a philatelist; He collected stamps of thematic series from the U.S. and around the world. He was also an avid coin collector, well versed on Numismatics. In his memoirs: Br. Joachim mentions that at a young age his family encouraged him to practice Lectio Divina and daily meaningful prayer, this practice led him to seek God in Community as religious. He felt that by living in community he could better serve God, save his soul and help others with his daily prayer. Br. Joachim was a humble, kind and faithful servant to the Church and the Monastic Community of Saint Leo Abbey. This year, he was celebrating his 50th - Golden Jubilee of Service. Br. Joachim is survived by his brother Leonard Svetlosky, and by many Nieces and Nephews. We request you to remember our brother to the Lord. On Monday, May 14 at 7:00 PM, The Community of Saint Leo Abbey will receive the body of Brother Joachim and a wake service will follow at the Abbey Church. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, in The Abbey Church of the Holy Cross. Interment will be in the abbey cemetery. Father Robert Velten, O.S.B., administrator of Saint Leo Abbey, will preside. Family members, friends, and members of the Knights of Columbus, will be joining the monks to celebrate the life and service of Br. Joachim.

Norma Eva Youse
Youse, Norma Eva, 79, of Ridge Manor, FL, went to be with the Lord Sunday, May 13th. She was born November 7, 1927 in Jackson, MI, to Clarabel & Kenneth Hilkert. She worked at the Frost Middle School in Jackson, MI, and moved to Florida in 1980 where she retired from Lacoochee Elementary School in 1987. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma. She is survived by her 3 children: Kenneth Youse, Holt, MI, Carol & Gene Roy, Ridge Manor, Janice & Ed Flippo, Jackson, MI; 7 grandchildren: Jammie & Lou, Robin & Ed, Connie, Heidi, Heather, Jeff, Kelly; 14 great grandchildren: CJ, Shell, Holly, Abby, Ataleeza, Timmy, David, Zach, Isaiah, Vanessa, Destinee, Brandon, Lisa, and Eric; and 3 great great grandchildren. She will be in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held 11am Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Chesser officiating. Friends may call from 5-7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in her memory to Hernando-Pasco Hospice 37445 Clinton Ave., Dade City, FL 33525.

Aceneth Gonzalez
Gonzalez, Aceneth, 60, of Lakeland, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A native of Puerto Rico, she moved to this area in 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Church. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Victor Colon, Sr.; four children, Jose Mercado of Lakeland, Angel Mercado of Milwaukee, WI, Jacqueline Colon and Victor Colon, Jr., both of Lakeland. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, at 1833 S. Florida Avenue in Lakeland.

Vance Nile King
King, Vance Nile, 75, a Servant of God left this life on Saturday, May 12, 2007. He is survived by his eternal wife Verna R. King and his children Jan Schut, Mary & Ronald Robrahn, Colleen & Donald Warfield, Mike and Gayle King and Lonnie King; 8 grand children; 8 great grandchildren, and two special friends, Charlie and Tzusi. He is also survived by a brother, Calvin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the LDS Relief Fund.
