Paul D. Edwards
Edwards, Paul D, 92, of Zephyrhills, FL passed away December 5, 2007 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City, Fl. Mr. Edwards was born August 28, 1915 at Varick, NY to Leon and Alice Edwards. He grew up in Virgil, NY with his eight brothers and sisters. He married Grace D. Lisk, with whom he had two sons, Donald of Pittsfield, MA and James (dec.) late of Zephyrhills, FL. Mr. Edwards lived for many years in Groton, NY, where he owned and operated a Dairy farm and was very active in the Masons, Eastern Star and the Shrine. He was an avid golfer, achieving two holes-in-one on his home course at Betmar Acres in Zephyrhills. He was adventurous and fun loving, traveling extensively throughout the continental United States, as well as to Europe and Hawaii. In his later years he went hot air ballooning, and, at the age of 90, went skydiving at the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Alice Edwards; his wife, Grace D. Edwards; and his son, James. He is survived by his son and his wife, Donald and Jennifer Edwards, of Pittsfield, MA; his other daughter-in-law, Sharon B. Edwards of Zephyrhills, 3 grandchildren, Elisabeth Edwards of Ridgefield, CT; Susan Edwards of Somerville, MA and Amy Edwards, of Zephyrhills. Mr. Edwards also leaves a grandson, Andrew Moscone, of Ridgefield, CT as well as a sister Mary Rooker of Sebring, FL. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Hodges Family Funeral Home 54 Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice or the Shriner’s Hospital.

Lee R. Gray
GRAY, Lee R., 81, of Dade City, Fla., died Friday evening, November 30, 2007. He was born in Union County, Tenn., a veteran of the Korean War, and has resided in Dade City since 1954. Mr. Gray was a self-employed owner/operator in the trucking industry for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Eva Jane Gray; two brothers, Fowler and Harvey Jr.; and one sister, Macel Fox. He is survived by his wife, Chung "Mary" of Dade City, Fla.; his sons and their wives, Dean and Gaye of Dade City, Fla.; Lee Roy and Kim of Jacksonville, Fla.; his daughter and her husband, Tammy and Vincent Capitani of Seminole, Fla.; six grand- children, Lindsey, Vinny, Kevin, Brittany, Travis and Jennifer; one great-grandson, Antonio, Fla.; one brother, Bobby; three sisters, Marjorie LaRue, Mavis Watkins and Margaret Hester, all of Tennessee; and 10 nieces and nine nephews. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at Hodges Funeral Home, 11441 Highway 301, where services take place 10 a.m. Thursday, December 6. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 37445 Clinton Ave., Dade City, FL 33525.

Clyde Powell
Powell, Clyde, 59, of Dade City, died Monday, December 3, 2007 at James A. Haley VA Hospital in Tampa. A native of Appomattox, Virginia, he was a long time Florida resident. He was a retired business owner of Powell Trucking, Inc. in Tampa. He was a US Air Force Vietnam Era Veteran and was a member of the NRA. Survivors include his loving wife, Tina; a daughter, Amber; four sons, Anthony, Bryan, Nathan, and Jay; seven siblings; Nathan, Cecil, Maris, Rachel, Evelyn, Mack, and Katherine; and 7 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Nathan & Geraldine Powell. The family will receive friends at the 301 Chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 7, 2007. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home at 12 Noon on Saturday with Nathan Tester officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Memory Gardens.

Dallas Jamison
Jamison, Dallas, 94, of Dade City, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Royal Oak Nursing Center. He was a US Navy WWII Veteran in the Pacific Theatre. Survivors include two sons, William E. Jamison and Arthur L. Jamison, both of Plant City; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Floral Memory Gardens.

Merle Wellman Fletcher
Fletcher, Merle Wellman, 83 of Zephyrhills, FL. passed away at home. He was born December 11, 1923 in Greenville Jct., ME. He was an Army veteran and owned Fletcher Logging& Pulp Contractor in Orrington, ME. He was a member of the Odd Fellows in Corinth, ME. And the Congregational Church in Orrington. He and his wife loved to travel and visited all of the continental United States with his family and a camper in tow.. They also enjoyed hunting, fishing and all that the outdoors had to offer. They were always together, like two peas in a pod, no matter what they did. They had a beautiful life of 65 years together. He moved to Zephyrhills 20 years ago. Mr. Fletcher is preceded in death by his father and mother; Wellman and Madeline; brothers; Norman and David. Survivors include his loving wife; Meta(Audrey); daughters; Brenda Rice(William) of Zephyrhills; Audrey Allen(Charles) of Zephyrhills; Deborah Atkinson (Joseph) of Dresden, ME.; brother; Charles Fletcher(Mary Jane) of North Canton, OH; sisters; Joyce Dunton, Belfast, ME; Marion Harding(Richard) of Orono, ME. A Memorial Gathering will take place December 15, 2007 from 2-3pm with a service to immediately follow. There will be a graveside service announced at a later date in Maine. Hodges Family Funeral Home 54 Chapel.

Ruth H. Madison
Madison, Ruth H. of Dade City, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Gulfside Regional Hospice. Born February 23, 1921 in Newport, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Bessie (Jackson) Hutson. Ruth loved do with nature and animals. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, raising her children,and adored her grandson, Johnathan. She was faithfully a devout Jehovah Witness for almost 50 years. Ruth was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Seedore. Survivors include, son, John Madison, daughter, Linda Madison Roberts, and grandson, Johnathan Madison all of Dade City; 3 brothers, Ralph, Ron and Don Hutson; 2 sisters, Helen Pohl and Faye Olsen and many nieces and nephews

Richard L. "Pop" Selvage
Selvage, Richard L. “Pap”, 65, of Dade City, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at his home. He was born July 13, 1942 in Smith Mill, PA, to John & Ruby
Phillips Selvage and was a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his wife: Donna Selvage. He was a best friend and father to: 4 children: Richard Selvage Jr., Lisa Poorman, Denise Selvagte, Nicole Selvage; 1 brother: Buck Selvage; 2 sisters: Linda McPherson, Hun Prisk; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his companion: Mary Hjortsberg.

Walter Clayton Dorman
Dorman, Walter Clayton, 79, of Webster, FL, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 at his home. He was born June 25, 1928 in Mt. Morris, MI, to Wallace Clayton & Hazel Perry Dorman. He was a Truck Driver for GM Fisher Body Factory and moved to this area 10 years ago from Michigan. He is survived by his wife: Marian Jewel Gifford Dorman; and 6 children: Diana Peake, Linda Schlosser, Brenda Bergeron, Debra Farmer, Walter Dorman Jr., and Joseph C. Dorman.

Milos "Mike" Karan
Karan, Milos “Mike”, 82, of Dade City died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills. A native of Wall, PA, he moved to this area in 1972 after his retirement from the US Army. A combat medic in the Pacific Theatre [The Purple Heart Medal]during WWII, he received both the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; and three daughters, Kathy Karan of Trilby, Vicky Fierro of Tallahassee, and Diana Karen of Dade City. A Rite of Christian Burial Mass will be held at 9a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Ridge Manor. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name should be made to: Senior Care Institute, Inc., 1400 Village Sq. Blvd. #3-185, Tallahassee, FL 32312, a charity for nursing home residents.
