Joseph Scharber
SCHARBER, Joseph C., 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Monday, September 27, 2004 at home, surrounded by his loving family and friends. A life long St. Joe resident, he was an independent business owner and was a great provider for his family. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII having served in the Atlantic Theatre. An avid fisherman, he was a member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Scharber and by a step brother, Charles McNary.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; two sons, Joseph Scharber and Allen Scharber, both of St. Joe; four stepsons, Ed McNary of Fairfield, CA; John R. Music of Wesley Chapel, Ron Music of Okinawa, and Steve Music of Wesley Chapel; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Lee of Lake City, Tina Zimmer and Angela Hill, both of Wesley Chapel; a brother, William Scharber of St. Joe; a sister, Theresa Blommel of St. Joe; four grandchildren; twenty six step grandchildren; and eighteen step great grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the funeral home. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Carroll Lee officiating. Burial followed at Floral Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Brent Scharber, Eric Scharber, Jordan Scharber, John R. Music, Steve Music and Ed Zimmer. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Blommel, Hubert Hancock, Jimmy Scharber, Dan Johnson, Don Johnson, Clarence Blommel, David Schneider, Ray Hill, Mark McNary and Richard Reedy.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 7066 Fort King Road, Zephyrhills, FL 33540.

Henrietta Liles
Liles, Henrietta Anna, 79, of Ridge Manor, FL, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Dade City. She was born April 27, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to this area in 1973 from West Collingswood, NJ. She was a retired Bookkeeper and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ridge Manor. She had been active for many years at the First Baptist Church of Dade City where she and her husband led the Young at Heart group.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years: Chester E. Liles, Ridge Manor, FL; her daughter: Bobbi L. Connor, Dade City, FL; her son: Larry & Lulu Liles, Ridge Manor, FL; 5 grandchildren including Ricky and Mark Connor; and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 11am Wednesday (today) at the First Baptist Church of Dade City with Rev. Eldridge Parrish officiating. Burial was at Trilby Cemetery.

Helen Foster
FOSTER, Helen, 89, of Dade City, died Monday, September 27, 2004 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Dade City. Burial was in New York.

Ninfa Fernandez Torres
Torres, Ninfa Fernandez, 57, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 4, 1946 in Harlingen, TX, to Antonio Fernandez and Julia Moreno Fernandez. She was a homemaker and a member of Templo Clinicia Del Alma.
She is survived by her husband: Jose R. Torres, Dade City, FL; 9 children: Diana Reyna, Plant City, FL, Zeke Pizano, Dade City, FL, Juanita Tubman, Albany, NY, Hector Pizano, Dade City, FL, Rosa Pizano, Harlingen, TX, Jose Torres Jr., Dade City, FL, Soledad Torres, Dade City, FL, Daniel Rocky Torres, Dade City, FL, Precious Nina Torres, Dade City, FL; her parents: Antonio & Julia Fernandez; 9 brothers and sisters; 19 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Funeral services were held 11am Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City with Rev. Reyes Perez officiating. Friends called for viewing two hours prior to service time, from 9am till 11am, at the funeral home Saturday morning.

Thomas Sitts
SITTS, Thomas, 85, of Land O' Lakes, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the care of Gulfside Regional Hospice.

Marvin Platzner
PLATZNER, Marvin, 80, of San Antonio, died Saturday, September 25, 2004 at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. He was born in Bronx, N.Y., and resided in San Antonio , Fl. He was a retired Plumber and was a member of the Jewish Faith. He is survived by his wife Annette, 2 stepchildren, Richard and Michelle, and 2 step grandchildren, Jennifer and Joey. Donations in his name should be sent to the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.

Josephina Lopez Arellano
ARELLANO, Josephina, 53, of Dade City, died Monday, September 27, 2004 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice House in Dade City. She moved to this area in 1988 from her native Mexico. She was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church. She loved plants having worked at a plant nursery prior to her illness.
Survivors include her children: Espitacion, Araceli, Santa Maria, Jose, Edith, Alma and Marisol, all of Dade City; five brothers and sisters; 18 grandchildren; and numerous friends in Mexico, Texas and Florida.
The family receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Rita Catholic Church on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Ramon Hernandez as celebrant. Burial followed at Dade City Cemetery.

Marie Frances O'Brien
O'BRIEN, Marie Frances, 89, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2004 at Heritage Park Care Center in Dade City. She was born July 20, 1915 in New York, NY, to Alberto DiNapoli and Louisa Basano DiNapoli. She moved to this area 10 years ago from Boynton Beach, FL. She was a Homemaker and member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
She is survived by her son: Douglas O'Brien, Dade City, FL; her brother: Eugene DiNapoli, Boynton Beach, FL; her sister: Madeline Ruffalo, Long Beach, NY; 4 grandchildren: Paul O'Brien, Dade City, FL, Kelley O'Brien, Dade City, FL, Steven O'Brien, New York, NY, Jennifer O'Brien, New York, NY.

James "Pete" Helton
HELTON, James "Pete", 42, of Dade City, died Friday, September 24, 2004 in Auburndale. He moved to this area in 1977 from his native Tennessee. He was a heavy equipment operator.
Survivors include his siblings, Ninda Long of Dade City, Rose Parrish of Trilby, Linda Nyman of Dade City, Rowhoe Helton of Croomacoochee, Dwayne Helton of Zephyrhills, Jeffrey Helton of Dade City, Tina Helton of St. Petersburg, and Armanda Helton of Pensacola; his mother, Ina Richards of Dade City; his father, James Helton of Lake Park, GA; his maternal grandparents, East and Myrtle Helton of Rogersville, TN; his paternal grandmother, Hazel Stevens of Whitley City, Kentucky; his girl friend, Sheila Helms of Dade City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 with Rev. Marvin Strickland officiating. The family received friends from 9-11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Lacoochee Cemetery.

Herbert Head
HEAD, Herbert A., 74, of Zephyrhills, died Friday, September 24, 2004 at East Pasco Medical Center. A native of Sullivan, WV, he moved here in 1994 from Michigan. He was a Veteran of the US Army having served in Korea. He had been retired from H.B. Stubbs in Warren, MI since 1992 and was a member of the Lake Gibson Nazarene Church in Lakeland.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; a son Ralph Head and his wife, Gayle of Clinton Township, MI; two brothers, James C. Head of Ft. Myers and John A. Head of N. Ft. Myers; two sisters, Almeda A. Coole of St. Clair Shores, MI and Helen R. Wheatley of Detroit, MI.

Gary C. Gullen
GULLEN, Gary C., 59, of Dade City, died Friday, September 24, 2004 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center. A native of Chicago, IL, he grew up in Kansas City, MO and moved to this area in 1980. He was a US Army Veteran serving in both Korea and Vietnam. He was an accomplished musician having played percussion for many headline bands. He also played the drums for Calvary Assembly of God Church in Dade City where he was a member. He was a Registered Nurse at East Pasco Medical Center and also taught in the EMT Program at PHCC for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Gary J. Gullen and Marcus J. Gullen, both of Dade City; a daughter, Doralyn Gullen of Jacksonville; two brothers, Grant Gullen of Kansas City and Marc Gullen of Nashville; and two sisters, Holly Stout of Omaha, Neb. and Bonnie Kotay of Kansas City.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Calvary Assembly Church of God in Dade City with Rev. John Chesser officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday evening.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, American Heart Association
National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
