Ernest Eugene Cannons
Cannons, Ernest Eugene, 88 years of Dade City, passed away, Thursday, November 17, 2005. He was born September 9, 1917 in Dade City, the son of Edward and Effie Thurbury Cannons. He was a master Brick Mason. He served his country during WWII in the US Army in five different battles. He grew up when a handshake was as good as a contract and he always was trusted. He is survived by his sister, Mary Smith of Clearwater and his adopted family, Debra Keneshea and Kenneth Woods, daughters, Kassey and Krystal Dean and granddaughter, Jasmine and the Green Family. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

Sterling Victor Blakeley
Blakeley, Sterling Victor, 88, formerly of Hooksett, NH, died November 30, 2005 at Edinborough Healthcare Center in Dunedin, FL, after a period of declining health. Mr. Blakeley was born in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Canada on May 15, 1917; he was the son of George Warren and Clara Chapman. He moved to the United States and became a citizen in 1939. He served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic in World War II, based in the Aleutian Islands and received an honorable discharge. He owned and operated Sterling’s Towing & Auto which included servicing the City of Manchester, NH. He also owned a John Deere dealership and hardware store in Hooksett, NH, before moving to Florida in 1969. He lived between Florida and Alabama until 1994 when he settled in Dade City, FL. He loved fishing, working the flea markets, and antique shops. He is survived by 2 daughters: Sharon D. Ciechon, Manchester, NH, Patricia A. Blakeley, Holiday, FL; 8 grandchildren: Shamus Heselton, Holiday, FL, Kathleen Farkas, Holiday, FL, Kurt Ciechon, Manchester, NH, Kyla Ciechon, Manchester, NH, Brenda Ciechon, Manchester, NH, Pamela O’Shaughnesy, Manchester, NH, Caroline Ciechon, Manchester, NH, David Ciechon, Candia, NH; and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and 1 son: Sterling W. Blakeley. Private memorial services were held 10am Monday, December 5, 2005 at Hodges Family Funeral Home in Dade City with Pastor George White officiating. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Gardens in Dade City.

Bessie Mae Bryant
Bessie Mae Bryant of Dade City went to be with the Lord on December 4th, 2005 at the age of ninety years. Se was a resident of the Royal Oaks Nursing Center. She has been preceded in death by her daughter Mary Francis Bryant, and two sons, Dennis Bryant and Bobby Bryant. She is survived by four daughters, Betty Prater (Wesley), Sarah Fleming, and Kay Boone (Ken) all of Dade City, and Ella Hill (Bobby) of Zephyrhills; 19 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 38 great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Pasadena Baptist Church. Mrs. Bryant will be missed by her loving family and friends. The family will receive friends at Hodges Family Funeral Home on Thursday December 8, 2005 from 6 until 8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday December9, 2005 at 1:00pm with Pastor Jim Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Withlacoohee Cemetery.

Harold S. Modlin
Modlin, Harold S., 88, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Friday, December 2, 2005, at his home in Zephyrhills, under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice and his loving family. He was born June 5, 1917 in Straughn, IN, to Ernest Modlin and Anna Smith Modlin. Harold Modlin, who was known on the air as Harry Martin, co-owned and operated the Rural Radio Network in Indiana along with his wife Marian. A member of the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Fame, he was named the 1983 National Farm Broadcaster of the Year. He worked forty years at WFBM and WRTV in Indianapolis, and did the first live TV commercial in Indiana. For seven years, he broadcast live radio reports nationwide for CBS network. In addition to his work in broadcasting, he was the author of several books, on subjects ranging from family history to agricultural exports. He moved to Zephyrhills 20 years ago from New Palestine, IN. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Zephyrhills. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marian Lund Modlin, Zephyrhills, FL; 4 children: Judy Lovejoy, Elkhart, IN, Deborah Snider, Plant City, FL, Daniel Modlin, Bowling Green, KY, Belinda Arthur, New Palestine, IN; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and his special friend, Buddy, a guide dog. A private memorial service will be held in Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Southeastern Guide Dogs, Inc., 4210 77th Street East, Palmetto, FL 34221-9270.

Jeannette Leach Mayer
Jeannette Leach Mayer, of Ridge Manor, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2006. Born March 4, 1913, in Akron, Ohio, she is survived by her husband, Karl Mayer, son Theodor (Joan) Mayer, daughter, Carolyn Mayer, and grandchildren Alexander and Sara Mayer. Mrs.. Mayer graduated from South High School in Akron in 1932 and worked at the Akron Beacon-Journal and B.F. Goodrich Company. She and her husband were married in Akron on August 4, 1941. She thereafter lived in Huntington, W.VA where she assisted her husband in his veterinary practice. The family later moved to Evanston and then Skokie, IL. In 1956, Mrs.. Mayer and family moved to Indianapolis where she was employed by Howard Sams Publishing Co.. Moving to Naperville, IL in 1964, Mrs. Mayer worked for Kroehler Furniture and Leo Burnett Advertising Agency. She later was a legal secretary for Sullivan & Sullivan in Chicago. She and her husband moved to Buffalo, NY in the mid-70-s and later to Rochester, NY. Dr. and Mrs. Mayer snow-birded to Florida for several years, eventually moving permanently to Ridge Manor in 2003. Mrs. Mayer will be lovingly remembered by many friends throughout the country. The family is especially grateful to the Hernando Pasco Hospice for it loving care for Jeannette and her family. Services will be held at All Faiths United Church of Christ, 34006 Cortez Blvd., Ridge Manor, FL on Friday, March 31st at 11:00 AM. Luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jeannette Mayer's memory to the Hernando Pasco Hospice.

James "Jimmy" Agee, Jr.
Agee, Jr., “Jimmy” James Wesley, 53, Zephyrhills, Florida died peacefully at his mother’s home March 19, 2006 after an extended illness. He was born in Clinton, IL and moved here from the Dunnellon/Ocala area. He was an extremely hard worker and the owner of Screens Unlimited. Jimmy loved to fish, camp, the outdoors and independence. He was a big Chicago Bears Fan. He was a member of the Jehovah Witness Church. He is survived by his loving family including his mother, Nancy James, his father, Jim Agee Sr., three sons Michael, of Tampa, Cody, of Gainesville and Jesse, of Alabama; three sisters, Lori Dorsey, Zephyrhills, Amy Wilson, Brandon, Fl., and Jill Mitchell, of NC. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice.

Elmer "Red" Woodard Holly
Holly, Elmer “Red” Woodard, 81, Zephyrhills, Florida passed away March 21, 2006. He was born July 25, 1924 in Oswego, New York. He attended Faith Baptist Church, Elks Lodge #2731, VFW, American Legion and Oswego NY Carpenters Union. Elmer was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He is preceded by his wife of 45 years Shirley, and sons Dennis and James. He is survived by his wife Bernice of 5 years, son Kevin Holly, two grandchildren, Brian Holly and Tammy Bacon and three step daughters, Gladys Payne and Meg Amoto both of Leesburg, Fl. and Audery Riesenberger, Rochester, NY. A Memorial Service will be held at Country Air Village Club House on 23rd St., March 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM.

Truman Bryant
Bryant, Truman, 70, of Dade City, FL, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2006 in Dade City under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. He was born September 26, 1935 in Bristol, FL, to Jacob Oscar Bryant and Naomi Lee Johnston. He recently moved back to this area after living in Sanderson, FL. He owned and operated County Line Pest Control in Dade City for 40 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Petersburg, FL. He is survived by 4 children: Debbie & Dale Revels, Dade City, FL, James Eugene & Christie Bryant, Dade City, FL, Wesley Louis & Debbie Bryant, Wesley Chapel, FL, Naomi & Tommy Faison, Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren: Garrick & Amanda Revels, Chelsey Bryant, April Brownlee, Amber Brownlee, Jamie Jackson, David Jackson; his great grandchildren: MacKenzie Revels, Ariel Hagans, Kayci Whitfield, Hunter Jackson, Dawn Jackson. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson: Kevin Rivers. There will be a family reception in Mr. Bryant’s honor, Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 2-4pm at the home of James Bryant. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in his memory to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, 37439 Clinton Ave., Dade City, FL 33525.

Judith Ashmore
Judith Ashmore died on March 21, 2006 in Zephyrhills, Florida. Born April 24, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio to William and Helen Ricks. She has lived in Zephyrhills since 1971 and Florida since 1963. Judith graduated from Pasco-Hernando Community College. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Dade City Chapter and a Baptist. Judith retired from the Pasco County School System in 1996 where she worked as a bus driver, media clerk, school bookkeeper and secretary. She is survived by her loving family including her husband David, Sr. and four sons, Donald (Becky), Lebanon, TN, David Jr. (Connie), Daniel (Lori) and Dwayne all of Zephyrhills and one daughter Carol Stinson, Lebanon, TN, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. There will be no service or flowers by her wishes, just an offer of sympathy to her husband and children. Donations may be made to Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

Jean Margret Parker
Parker, Jean Margret, 84, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2006 in Dade City under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice. She was born October 5, 1921 in Leigh on Sea, England, to John & Gwen White, and moved to this area 15 years ago from Massachusetts. She was a retired secretary and a member of the Women of the Moose. She is survived by 1 brother: Douglas White; her son: Dale J. Parker; her daughter: Jacqueline Baker; grandchildren: Joseph Baker, Evan Parker, Tia King, Anna Parker; great grandchildren: Victoria King, Jeremy King, Cody King, Kenny King, Logan Sorensen, Landon Sorensen; and granddog: Bebe.

Carolyn H. Adsit
Adsit, Carolyn H., 93, Zephyrhills, Florida died Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at her residence. She was born October 13, 1912 in Syracuse, NY. She was a Librarian and a Championship Equestrian Jumper. Carolyn is survived by her loving family including a nephew, Paul Chapman, two nieces, Phylis House and Nancy Hayes, and several other great nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her husband, Roland Adsit. Carolyn loved and enjoyed spending time with her friends and neighbors at Tree Lane Mobile Home Park and friends and employees at Zephyrhills McDonalds. She loved her feline and feathered friends. A Memorial Service was held at Tree Lane Clubhouse on March 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM. A graveside service in New York to be announced in summer of 2006.

Wilbur "Tex" Wood
Wood, “Tex” Wilbur, 88, Zephyrhills, Florida died March 18, 2006 after an extended illness. He was born September 15, 1917 in Danville, IN. He was veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Moose Lodge, American Veterans and a Life Member of V.F. W. He retired from the Teamster 445 Haul Car Carrier. He loved to fish and was a big baseball fan, specially the Yankees. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife Violet Wood, a daughter and a son from a first marriage, Mary Ann Ball and James Wood of Peekskill, NY, one son, Calvin Wood, two stepchildren, Sandra Couti and Joh Michon, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 24, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gulfside Hospice.
