Marianne Deppert

Marianne (Alexander) Deppert passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Fla.

She was born March 3, 1953, at Johnson County Hospital in Franklin, Ind. She attended Indiana University, and Indian River College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing. She was employed by Charlotte Region Medical Center until late in 1995. Marianne traveled to South America extensively in her former years. She was an avid pilot and an accomplished oil painter.

She is survived by her two children, Leslie Ann Deppert, and James Aaron Deppert, both of Punta Gorda; parents, George and Kay Alexander of Centerton, Ind., and Punta Gorda, Fla.; her older sister, Charlene Emerson of Martinsville, Ind.; and younger brothers Charles Alexander, Matthew Alexander, Sean Alexander, all of Centerton Ind.; her grandmother, Helen Alexander of Centerton; and numerous friends.

Memorial and funeral services will be held in Centerton, at an undetermined time.

A wake will be held locally at noon, Jan. 3, 2004, at Temple Bar Public House, next door to Celtic Ray Public House, Marion Avenue in Punta a Gorda.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marianne Deppert's name to, Charlotte HIV/AIDS People Support, 18200 Paulson Drive, A-1, Port Charlotte, FL 33954, a nonprofit HIV-AIDS food pantry and charity.

Arrangements are by Florida Mortuary Funeral & Cremation Services, Tampa, Fla.

John Stone Jr.

John Stone Jr., 67, of Cadiz, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.

John was born Jan. 2, 1936, in Betsy Layne, Ky. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars, and was a member of VFW Post 7890, in Cadiz. He was the CEO of Stone Plastics Inc. He was a member of Church of Christ.

John is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marcia Dress Stone of Cadiz; his stepmother, Etherine Stone, a daughter, Brenda (Michael) Thornton of Cadiz, his sons, Joe (Eunice) Stone, Randy Stone, and Steve Stone, all of Cadiz, Ky. and John William Stone of Port Charlotte, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Mackenzie Stone, Joann Stone, Michael Thornton, Rebecca Thornton, Bethany Thornton, Chandler Stone, Roxanne Bastean, Randy Stone Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Jasmine, Gavin, David, Stephen and Kyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Losa Stone; a son, David Stone; and brother, James Stone.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Goodwin Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at the funeral home, with Garry Stanton, clergy, officiating. An additional visitation will be at 1 p.m., Monday Jan. 5, 2004, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Grandville Cemetery chapel, in Grandville, Mich. Burial will be at Grandville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association, 1740 Broadway, New York, NY 10019.

Catherine M. Hall

Catherine M. Hall, 90, of New Holland Pa., and formerly of Picture Rocks, Pa., and North Port, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Ephrata Community Hospital, Pennsylvania.

Catherine was born in Picture Rocks, and was the daughter of Harvey B. and Elizabeth McClain Elder. Mrs. Hall was a bank teller at the Commonwealth Bank, in Hughesville, Pa. for 20 years before retiring in 1975. She played the organ and was the choir director for 50 years at the Picture Rocks United Methodist church. She was a member of the Community Bible Church, Leola, Pa., a past member of the Eastern Star, Muncy, Pa, and the Lions Auxiliary, Picture Rocks. Mrs. Hall was also the choir director for 20 years at the Presbyterian Church of North Port, and an accompanist for five years with the North Port Chorale. She was a member of the Lions Auxiliary, in North Port.

In addition, she was very active in many other church and community activities and functions.

Mrs. Hall is survived by her daughter Nancy J. (Casmir) Gieniec of Lancaster, Pa.; son, David L. (Jane Behman) Hall of Mechanicsburg, Pa; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy V. Hall in 1995; and her parents; three brothers, Malcolm, Robert, and Byron Elder; three sisters, Margaret Noble, Charlotte Blaskovitz, and Alice Elder; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with the Rev. John Duty officiating. An additional visitation will be at 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, Pa.

Interment will be at Picture Rocks Cemetery, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Catherine M. Hall's memory to Community Bible Church, 169 E. Main St., Leola, PA 17540, or to Lancaster Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.

Zelma R. Cleveland

Zelma Rosalie Cleveland, 80, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, in Punta Gorda.

Zelma was born April 2, 1923 in Cleveland, Fla., and was raised in the Punta Gorda area. She was a cheerleader and graduate of Charlotte High School. She was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, First Methodist Church of Punta Gorda, and sang in the choir. Zelma was a licensed practical nurse, and formerly worked at Medical Center Hospital. She was also an Avon salesperson for several years.

Survivors include her daughter, Priscilla Rosalie Williams; brother, Robert Conrad Cleveland; sister, Beatrice Christine Cotton; grandson, Jack Edward Williams Jr.; granddaughter, Melanie Lynn Williams; great-grandson, Evan Martin Williams, and her great-granddaughter, Dawn Marie Williams.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2003, at the Punta Gorda chapel of Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home, Punta Gorda. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Indian Springs Cemetery, Punta Gorda.

Arrangements by the Punta Gorda Chapel of Kays-Ponger/Royal Palm Funeral Home.

Clifford L. Brown

Clifford L. Brown, 55, of Englewood Fla., died Dec. 30, 2003.

He was born June 28, 1948, in Middlebury, Vt., to Clifford and Mildred (Desjadon) Brown. Clifford moved to the Englewood area in 1985 from Middlebury. He was a heavy equipment operator.

He is survived by his four daughters, April Buchler of Englewood, Tammy Collier of Punta Gorda, Joann and Samantha Brown, both of Port Charlotte, Fla.; brother, Stephen of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth Nardolilli of Port St. Lucie, and Linda Pidgeon of Keene, N.H.; five grandsons, Walter, William, Steven, Jamie and Jerod.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at the chapel of Peace at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, Englewood. The Rev. Sam Seizert, will be officiating.

Inurnment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Park.

Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, Englewood Chapel is in charge of cremation arrangements.

Winfred D. Ryll

Winfred D. Ryll, 77 of Englewood, Fla., died Dec. 31, 2003.

She was born on May 6, 1926 in Birmingham, England, and came to this area in 1972 from Clinton, Mass. She was a member of the Englewood United Methodist Church.

Winfred is survived by her son, Paul of Woodstock, Conn.; four daughters, Pauline Gabriau of Englewood, Christine Nageldinger of York, S.C., Carol Brown of Fredericksburg, Va., and Arlene Martin of Brookfield, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2003, in the Doan chapel, at Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood.

Memorial donations may be made to, Englewood United Methodist Church, c/o the Music Foundation, 700 E. Dearborn Street, Englewood, FL 34223, or Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Olive E. Mann

Olive "Eileen" E. Mann, 81, of Winter Haven, Fla., and formerly of Arcadia, Fla., died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003.

She was born Dec. 7, 1922, in Irvona Pa., and moved to Arcadia five years ago. Eileen was a retired manager of Fellowship Dining of Arcadia, and was a member of VFW Post 2824, Arcadia. She was of the Protestant faith.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly J. (Byron) Hamilton of Winter Haven, and Joyce L. (Joe) Macke of Palmetto, Fla.; four grandchildren and four great-greatgrandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 N. Hillsboro Ave., Arcadia, followed by graveside services and burial at 4 p.m., at Joshua Creek Cemetery, Arcadia.

Memorial donations may be made to, Good Shepherd Hospice, 50 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland, FL 33801.

Arrangements are by Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home.

Ruth M. Wilds

Ruth M. Wilds, 87, of Paint Lick, Ky., and formerly of Michigan and Arcadia, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in Berea, Ky.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Berea Baptist Church in Berea.

Burial will be at 1 p.m., Jan. 5, 2004, at Roseland Park Cemetery, in Berkley, Mich.

Arrangements were by Lakes Funeral Home.
