Gladys Turner

Gladys Turner, 84, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died June 23, 2002.

Mrs. Turner moved to Port Charlotte in 1984 from Silver Springs, Md. She was a homemaker and was the pianist for 10 years at Punta Gorda Seventh Day Adventist Church, before failing health required her to retire. Mrs. Turner was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was very active in community service within the church. She was a compassionate, generous woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Robert Turner of Port Charlotte; three daughters, Marilyn Christy of Woodbridge, Va., Donna Lacy of Port Charlotte and Patti Ward of Portland, Ore.; three stepchildren, Robert Turner of Oklahoma City, Okla., John Turner of Laurel, Md., and Terry Ehrhardt of Berkley Springs, W.Va.; a sister, Fern McClure of Silver Springs; 10 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. June 30, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 1655 Taylor Road, Punta Gorda.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church. Donations will be used toward the outreach ministry of 3-ABN Television. Larry Taylor Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.

David A. White

David A. White, 78, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died June 25, 2002, at Mariner

Health of Port Charlotte.

He was born May 31, 1924, in Albany, N.Y., and came to this area 35 years ago from Scotia, N.Y. Mr. White worked as an engineer for a power plant. He was a volunteer with the fire department in East Glenville, N.Y., and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his son, David A. White Jr. of Port Charlotte; daughter, Deborah Kinder of Port Charlotte; brothers, Kenneth and Paul White, both of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held in New York. Burial will be at East Greenbush

Cemetery Association, Rensselaer County, N.Y. Arrangements are by Paul Schelm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte.

Richard J. Krizka

Richard J. Krizka, 55, of Wartburg, Tenn., formerly of Arcadia, Fla., died May 27, 2002, in Wartburg.

Mr. Krizka was born Dec. 6, 1946, in Scherrding, Austria. He was a retired firefighter from the Chicago (Ill.) Fire Department, a member of VFW, American Legion, Firefighters Benevolent Association and Ducks Unlimited. He was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to listen to and play bluegrass music.

Survivors include two brothers, Tom Krizka and Eric Krizka, both of Arcadia; a sister, Nancy Trejo of Blue Island, Ill.; eight stepbrothers, Robert Johnson, Bill Johnson, David Johnson, John Johnson, Terry Johnson, Robin Johnson and Elmer Johnson, all of Arcadia, and Donald Johnson of Danville, Ala.; and two stepsisters, Marline Williams of Casper, Wyo., and Lucile Dalton of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. June 29, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Arcadia. Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, Arcadia, is in charge of arrangements.

Rosaire Marois

Rosaire Marois, 76, passed away June 23, 2002, in Arcadia, Fla.

He was born July 25, 1925, in Cap de La Madeleine, Canada. He was a welder for a pipefitting company.

He is survived by his children, Diane (husband, Jean Pierre), Sylvie, Raymond, Carmen (husband, Luc); and grandchildren, Liliane, Martin, Melissa, Marjjollaine, Stephane, Simon, Helene and Chantal.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 27, and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 28, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. June 29, at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Joliet, Ill., with the Rev. James Schwab presiding. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Robarts Funeral Home, Arcadia, is in charge of local arrangements.

Melba Gregoire

Melba Wasson Gregoire, 87, of Delray Beach, Fla. and formerly of Venice, Fla., died June 23, 2002.

She was born in Starusberg, Pa., and spent most of her adult life in Pittsfield, Mass., and Venice. Melba was a resident of Abbey Delray South in Delray Beach for the past five years of her life. Melba will always be remembered as someone who enjoyed her life to the fullest.

Melba was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles W. Wasson Sr.,

and husband, Steven Gregoire. She is survived by a daughter, Linda McCauley of Boynton Beach, Fla.; a son, Charles W. Wasson Jr. of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Jocob Kohl of Springfield, Mass.; four grandchildren, Robin, Colleen, Bryan and Brandon; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 4:30 p.m. June 30, at Abby Delray South.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Abby Delray South Entertainment Fund, c/o Barbara Provan, 1717 Homewood Blvd., Delray Beach, FL 33445; or to Hospice By the Sea Inc., 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.

Sonia Raye Gagnon

Sonia Raye Gagnon, 45, of Punta Gorda, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2001 following a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 7, 1955 in Bakersfield, Calif. She was a self-employed bookkeeper for E. & S. Landscaping, and a fulltime homemaker and grandmother. She was very loving and cared for many. She was very special in everyone's hearts and loved mountains, nature, the outdoors and the beach.

Mrs. Gagnon is survived by her husband of 19 years, Ed Gagnon; her daughter, Trina Kuntzler of Punta Gorda; her father Jack Ogle (Phyllis); brother, Marvin Ogle of Punta Gorda; grandmother, Vera Beulis of Punta Gorda; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Also surviving is one very special granddaughter, Alize. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Ogle, in 1993 and her brother, Terry Lynn Ogle, in 1989.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 5200 Indian Springs Road, with the Rev. James W. Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family from 9:30 until the time of the service.

Lawrence R. Hartman

Lawrence R. Hartman, 87, of Port Charlotte, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001, following and extended illness.

He was born June 4, 1914 in St. Louis, Mo. He received his bachelor's degree in engineering in 1936 from Johns Hopkins University. He retired in 1975 from Baltimore Gas and Electric Company following 37 years of service as a mechanical engineer. He then moved to Florida and became active in the Punta Gorda Presbyterian Church, where he served as an usher and liturgist. He was a member of the Punta Gorda Rotary Club where he was a past secretary and treasurer and was awarded the designation of Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a member of the Boumi Temple Masonic Lodge in Baltimore, MD where he became a 32nd-degree Mason.

Mr. Hartman is survived by his wife of 57 years, Fay Elizabeth Hartman, and his daughter, Nancy Hartman of Raleigh, N.C.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home, 5200 Indian Springs Road, Punta Gorda.

Viola F. McShane

Viola F. McShane, 85, formerly of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Las Fuentes Care Center, Prescott, Ariz.

She was born Viola Croslin in Louisville, Ky. She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Port Charlotte and Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include one son, James F. Easley; three daughters, Barbara R. Strader, Marcella L. Miller and Julia M. Eves; two brothers, Torance W. Croslin and William E. Croslin; one sister, Ruth Herbert; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Ky. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society's Kentucky chapter. Highlands Funeral Home, Louisville, is in charge of arrangements.

Ernest Francis Riggio

Ernest Francis "Bud" Riggio, 77, of Englewood, Fla., died Monday, June 25, 2001 at Englewood Community Hospital.

Born on Dec. 16, 1923 in Essex, Conn., to Samuel and Nellie (Banning) Riggio, he had been a resident of Englewood since 1984 coming from Ivoryton, Connecticut. Mr. Riggio was a proofreader for Uarco, Inc., a printing company, in Deep River, Conn., for 30 years and retired in 1983. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II; a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2378 in Englewood; American Legion Post 113 in Rotonda West; was a member of the Essex Volunteer Fire Department in Connecticut.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara J. Riggio of Englewood, FL; one son, Bruce A. (Caryl) Riggio of Englewood; one sister, Judith Hilley of Ivoryton, Conn.; and one brother, Frank Riggio of Ivoryton, Conn.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Elks Children's Hospital, Post Office Box 49, Umatilla, Florida 34784-0049 in memory of Mr. Riggio. Englewood Community Funeral Home has been selected to handle arrangements.

Margaret A. Bullock

Margaret A. "Mickey" Bullock, 66, of Arcadia, Fla., died Saturday, June 22, 2001 at her residence.

Born Nov. 23, 1934, in Louisville, Ky., she moved to Arcadia in 1972 from Louisville. She was a former co-owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Arcadia, and a member of the Arcadia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, William A. Bullock; four sons, Richard (Anita) Buchart, USN, and James (Edith) Buchart, both of Chesapeake, Va., Michael (Reva) Buchart and Joseph (Yolanda) Buchart, both of Arcadia; two daughters, Jeanne (Richard) Fisher of Vancouver, Wash., and Lisa (Lesley) Harrison of Arcadia; one brother, Frank (Ruby) Robinson of Louisville; 15 grandchildren, Crissy, Missy, Rachael, Tammy, Theresa, Matthew, Lee, Gary, Sarah, Thomas, Justin, Jonathan, Christopher, Trevor and Richard; and one great-grandchild, Ryan.

Visitation was Monday night at Robarts Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Arcadia, with the Rev. Stan Pierog as celebrant. Family has requested memorial donations be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Margaret Louise Simmons

Margaret Louise Simmons, 88, of Arcadia, Fla., died June 23, 2001.

She was born June 20, 1913 in Baltimore, Md., and moved to this area in 1973 from Bethesda, Md. She was a homemaker and was very devoted to her family. She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Louise Noel of Sarasota, Fla., and Terri L. (John) Frazier of Arcadia; five grandchildren, Robin and Amy Curtis of Clearwater and Steven and Chris Frazier of Arcadia; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside service was 2 p.m. Monday at Joshua Creek Creek Cemetery in Arcadia. Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Robert W. Jennison

Robert W. Jennison, 76, of North Port, Fla., died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at his home.

He was a retired bank manager and the husband of Marie (Keough) Jennison. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Born in Providence, R.I., he was a son of the late John R. and Elsie (Sharp) Jennison. He lived in Smithfield for 40 years before moving to Glocester, R.I.

Mr. Jennison was a manager for the Old Stone Bank for 35 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Roger Williams Lodge of Masons and a member of the Englewood Lodge BPOE 2378. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Keith R. Jennison of Exeter, R.I.; a daughter, April J. Whitecross of Glocester, R.I.; and four grandchildren.

He was a brother to the late Vera J. Reynolds.

His funeral and burial will be private.

Annie C. "Tina" Griffin

Annie C. (Tina) Griffin, 62, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died June 22, 2001.

She was born Dec. 25, 1938, in Ireland and moved to Port Charlotte in January 1990 from Dumont, N.J. Mrs. Griffin was a Registered Nurse and a Chaplain and volunteer at the American Legion Post 110. Her volunteer actives for the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary La Femmes included raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House, Toys for Tots, Hospice Foundation of S.W. Florida, Big Brothers and Sisters of Charlotte County, Inc. and a Nursing Training Program.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; three daughters, Betty Bugden of Tampa, Fla., Sandra Lannon of Milford, Pa., and Deborah Maltese of Fairfax, Va.; stepson, David Griffin of Port Charlotte; step-daughter, Michelle Spencer of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Theresa King and Ellish Langan, both of England; three brothers, Edward Langan of Sonoma, Calif., Brendan Langan of England and James Langan of Australia; and five grandchildren, Hailey, Valerie, Cheryl, Ryan and Erin.

Memorial services will be held at the American Legion Post 110 in Port Charlotte on Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of S.W. Florida, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, FL. 34238.

Robert C. Kehrer

Robert C. Kehrer, 66, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Friday, June 22, 2001, in Port Charlotte.

Mr. Kehrer was born Aug. 22, 1934, in Mineola, N.Y. Mr. Kehrer had been an aerospace worker for Grumann Aerospace Industries for 20 years. More recently, he had been a painter for Owens Painting Co. of Sarasota, Fla. He had served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1962. He enjoyed working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife of nine years, Mary A. Kehrer of Port Charlotte; three sons, Paige R. Kehrer of Coral Springs, Fla., Scott S. Kehrer of Riverview, Fla., and Todd W. Kehrer of Clermont, Fla.; a step-son, Erik Konold of Okinawa, Japan; two sisters, Linda F. Belcher of Englewood, Fla., and Margaret D. Orefice of Thornwood, N.Y.; a brother, Walter D. Kehrer of LaBelle, Fla.; and one grandson, Kyle and daughter-in-law, Lori Kehrer, both of Riverview, Fla.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Port Charlotte Chapel of Kays-Ponger Royal Palm Funeral Home. A burial will be a Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of S.W. Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL. 34238.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kays-Ponger Funeral Home, Port Charlotte.
