Mildred "Petie" Golden, 79, died July 23, 1997. Born in McAlpin, she moved to St. Augustine in 1975 from Leesburg. She was a homemaker and a member of Crescent Beach Baptist Church in St. Augustine.
She is survived by stepmother, Bernice Jeffcoat of Fruitland Park; son, James Franklin Golden, of Hampton, Ga.; daughter, Cynthia Irene Seedor of Leesburg; sister, Jackie Oliver of Kailua, Hawaii; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Starling officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Pine Level Cemetery in Oxford.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Lake & Sumter County, 12300 Lane Park Road, Tavares, Fla. 32778.

Michael O'Connor Sr.
Michael Glen O'Connor Sr., 51, St. Augustine, died July 23, 1997, at his home. He was born in Nashville, Tenn., and he had resided here since 1990. He was a road driver with Yellow Freight, and he was a member of the Free Wheel Baptist Church, Nashville. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1017, and he also held membership in Teamsters Local Union No. 480.
Funeral services and burial will be in Hermitage, Tenn., with the Hermitage Funeral Home in charge.
Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to The Florida Radiation Oncology Group, 1375 Arapaho Ave., St. Augustine, 32086.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda O'Connor, St. Augustine; his parents, Gertrude S. and Dillard D. O'Connor, St. Augustine; two daughters, Kimberly Renee Cruz, Christiana, Tenn., Toni Lynn O'Connor, Nashville; one stepdaughter, Karen Lynn Alcorn, Cross Plains, Tenn.; one son, Michael Glenn O'Connor Jr., Nashville; a stepson, James Christopher Sells, St. Augustine; and four grandchildren.

Joseph Rakowski
Memorial services for Joseph Anthony Rakowski, 79, St. Augustine, who died July 19, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at noon today at San Sebastian Catholic Church.

Patricia Brasile
Patricia Anne Brasile, 70, St. Augustine Beach, died July 24, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and had lived in St. Augustine since 1986. She was retired from the hotel industry in which she worked as a hostess.
Private services are planned.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Brasile, St. Augustine Beach; and two sisters, Helen Margaret Stead, Huntington Valley, Pa., and June Dolores Mager, Philadelphia, Pa.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Durgin
Frank W. Durgin, 88, St. Augustine, died July 21, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Peabody, Mass., and had lived in St. Augustine since 1976. He was a retired chemical engineer. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, Jacksonville Local, and he was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Massachusetts.
He is survived by a sister, Rhoda Badger; and a brother, Paul D. Durgin, both of St. Augustine.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Michael O'Connor Sr.
Michael Glen O'Connor Sr., 51, St. Augustine, died July 23, 1997, at his home.
Funeral services and burial will be in Hermitage, Tenn., with the Hermitage Funeral Home in charge.

Joseph Bacon Jr.
Joseph M. Bacon Jr., 82, 128 King St., died July 27, 1997, at the Ponce de Leon Care Center. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and he came to St. Augustine in 1940 from Philadelphia. He was a retired salesman for the Western Natural Gas Company, Jacksonville, retiring in 1979, and he had worked for the St. Augustine and Jacksonville gas companies. He was a member of the St. Augustine Shores Golf Club and Men's Golf Association.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Jacksonville, with the Rev. S. Dwight McQueen, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, St. Augustine, officiating. Friends may call at Croyle Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the First United Methodist Church, 118 King St., St. Augustine, 32084, or a favorite charity.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn, St. Augustine; two sons, Joseph M. Bacon III, St. Augustine, W. Stanley Kramer, San Antonio, Texas; two step-sons, Jack W. Cosper, Jacksonville, James R. Cosper, Tallahassee; a sister, Betty Toner, Philadelphia; one brother, George Bacon, Trevose, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Leila Baker
Leila Mazie Baker, 66, 764 W. Sixth St., died July 25, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. She was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and she attended local schools. She was a member of New St. James Baptist Church and a former choir member.
Survivors include her mother, Annie Mae Baker, St. Augustine; three sisters, Edna Light, Lakeland, Naomi Williams, Audrey Hamilton, St. Augustine; and a host of other relatives.
Arrangements will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.

Colleen Dupont
Colleen Redmond Dupont, 77, Palm Coast, died July 27, 1997, in Flagler County's Memorial Hospital Flagler. She was born in Richmond, Va., and she was a retired school bus driver, employed by the Flagler County School System, having been associated with the school system for 17 years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pellicer Creek Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the Flagler County Humane Society, 1 Shelter Drive, Palm Coast, 32137.
Survivors include two daughters, Phlis Anderson, Memphis, Tenn., Caroline Banks, Palm Coast; two sons, Douglas A. Dupont, Jacksonville, Hewitt Dupont, South Daytona Beach; and five grandchildren.

Rachel Holt
Rachel Carawan Holt, 80, Raleigh, N.C., died July 26, 1997, in Raleigh. She was the wife of the late Charles Hoyle Holt. She was educated in nursing at Mary Elizabeth Hospital, Raleigh, during the 1930s.
Graveside services were to be held at 2 p.m. today at Raleigh Memorial Park. Those wishing may make a donation, in her memory, to Hospice of Wake County, 4513 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27612 and/or Rex Hospital, Raleigh, N.C.
Survivors include one son, John Carawan Holt, Bath, N.C.; a daughter, Alyce Julie Holt, St. Augustine; sisters Alice Carawan Smith, Olive Carawan Parkin, both of Raleigh; brothers, Charlie and Jay Carawan, Scranton, N.C.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mitchell Funeral Home, Raleigh, is in charge.

James Hopkins
James Patrick Hopkins, 83, St. Augustine, died July 26, 1997, at Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home chapel. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Hopkins, St. Augustine; one son, James W. Hopkins, Old Greenwich, Conn.; three sisters, Katherine Byrnes, Brooklyn, Theresa Byrnes, Phoenix, Ariz., Eleanor Fenton, New Jersey; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Avis May O'Neil, 73, St. Augustine, who died July 22, 1997, in Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Dr. Kerry Hinkley, pastor, officiating.

Shirley Ann Hale
Shirley Ann Hale, 63, 28 Atlantic Ave., died July 29, 1997, at her home. She was born in Bluefield, W.Va., and she had resided here for the past 35 years. She was a member of the First Apostolic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Apostolic Church with Pastor J. Alton Lister officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Survivors include her husband, Ervin Hale, St. Augustine; one daughter, Roxanna Naomi McDonald, Sylvester, Ga.; five sons, Michael J. Hale, Adda, Va., Ray, Audie W., Donald J. and Coy V. Hale, all of St. Augustine; three sisters, Betty Hawke, Indiana, Marlene Nichols and Wanda Hartshorne, both of St. Augustine; four brothers, Bill Cline, Roanoke, Va., Bobby, Donnie and Tiny Cline, all of St. Augustine; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Franco Cacace
Franco Cacace, 54, Heidelberg, Germany, died July 26, 1997, in Heidelberg. He was born in Sorrento, Italy, and he had resided in Germany since 1957.
Private services were to be held today in Heidelberg.
Survivors include his wife, Sabine, Heidelberg; two sisters, Maria Carson, St. Augustine, Giuseppina Esposito, Sorrento; one brother, Domenico Cacace, St. Agota, Italy; and other relatives.

Dr. Charles Coates
Dr. Charles R. (Bob) Coates, St. Augustine, died July 30, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. He had resided in St. Augustine since 1980, moving here from Shippensburg, Pa. He was a professor of counseling and author of two books and numerous articles. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Augustine, serving as president of the DeLand District, United Methodist Men; and he played a leadership role in numerous professional organizations and community activities, including AARP and United Way while a professor at Shippensburg University; and with Red Cross and Toastmasters in St. Augustine.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on an aircraft carrier during World War II and Korea, and he was trained in the then-emerging field of meteorology. He was a member of the Navy's Hurricane Hunter group, the group which pioneered today's tropical storm-tracking system.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. S. Dwight McQueen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the First United Methodist Church, 118 King St., St. Augustine, 32084.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille; three sons, Tom, St. Augustine, C. Robert Jr., Dallas, Texas, Christopher, Neville, Pa.; and five grandchildren.

Francis Gorely
Francis Edgar Gorely, 87, St. Augustine, died July 29, 1997, at St. Johns Health Care. He was born in Washington, D.C., and he had resided here for the past eight years. He was a retired Civil Service employee, having worked in the employee relations field. He was a member of the St. Augustine Shrine Club and the Masonic Lodge, FA&M, Lodge No. 98; and he was a member of the Shores United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Matthew Swartsel, pastor of Shores United Methodist Church, officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Gorely, St. Augustine; one son, John E. Gorely, Raleigh, N.C.; and two granddaughters.
