William H. Burgess Jr., 40, St. Augustine, formerly of Lobelville, Tenn., died Sept. 21, 1997, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Mizell-Faville-Zern Southdale Chapel, 4101 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, West Palm Beach.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the time of services.
Survivors include one son, William H. Burgess III, a daughter, Jessica Nicole, both of Middleburg; his parents, William H. and Lucie Burgess, Loberville, Tenn.; his grandmother, Dorothy May Burgess, Lake Worth; a sister, Billie Lou Reinert, Orange Park; and other relatives.

Lillian Rivers Dillhyon
Funeral services for Lillian Rivers "Sunny" Dillhyon, 91, St. Augustine, who died Sept. 21, 1997 at Flagler Hospital West, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the chapel of the Craig Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Carmichael officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Restlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Lu Cooley
Lu Cooley, 69, St. Augustine Beach, died Sept. 24, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Franklin, Pa., and she had resided here since 1985. Prior to moving to St. Augustine, she had resided in Ponte Vedra Beach from 1976-85, moving to Ponte Vedra Beach from Jacksonville. She was a member of the Woodland Garden Club, the Republican Women's Club, past president of the Sawgrass Woman's Club, and she was of the Methodist faith.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Lucy Norton, of United Methodist, officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the American Heart Association, 5851 St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, 32207.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph E. Cooley, St. Augustine Beach; her mother, Geraldine Ruth Hied, Franklin; three daughters, Joyce L. McElfresh, Shelbina, Mo., Patricia A. Bradshaw, Merritt Island, Susan Schall, Ellicott City, Md.; two brothers, Taylor A. Hied Jr., Poway, Calif., Robert E. Hied, Milton; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Gervasi
Kathleen Gaynell Gervasi, 82, St. Augustine, died Sept. 24, 1997, at the St. Augustine Manor. She was born in Wakefield, Va., and she had resided here for the past eight years. She was a member of the Shores United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Shores United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Matt Swartsel, pastor, officiating.
An organ recital, in her memory, begins at 5:30 p.m. at the church.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to the Kathleen Gervasi Fund, c/o the Shores United Methodist Church, 724 Shores Blvd., St. Augustine, 32086.
Survivors include one daughter, Marlene K. Brady, St. Augustine; a son, Duane W. Gervasi, Winston-Salem, N.C.; a sister, Dorothy Rawlings, Long Island, N.Y.; one brother, Donald Boykin, Jacksonville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Connie Vaccaro
Connie Ruth Vaccaro, 45, St. Augustine, died Sept. 25, 1997, in her home. She was born in Danville, Va. and she had lived in Richmond, Va. before moving to St. Augustine in 1995. She was a member of Trinity Chapel Ministries.
Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date in Richmond.
Survivors include her husband, Santo J. Vaccaro, St. Augustine; her parents Iris Hubbard and James Hubbard, and two sisters, Debbie Ingalls and Lori Hubbard, all of Richmond.

Kathleen Gervasi

Ruth Hutchinson
Ruth Ann Hutchinson, 75, St. Augustine, died Sept. 23, 1997, at Flagler Hospital. She was born in Chester, Pa., and lived in the Chester and West Chester areas most of her life. She was a packager for Wyeth Laboratories for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She moved to St. Augustine six years ago, and she attended Moultrie Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the James M. Brower Funeral Home, 908 S. Providence Road, Wallingford, Pa. Burial will be in Chester Rural Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday at 1 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to Moultrie Baptist Church, 3699 U.S. 1 So., St. Augustine, Fla. 32086.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles C. Wenrich.
She is survived by her husband, James V. Hutchinson, St. Augustine; a daughter, Tanna Blevins, West Chester, Pa.; two brothers, Ronald S. Maryott, Annapolis, Md., Thomas D. Maryott, Port Charlotte, Fla.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Malcolm McCann
Memorial services for Cmdr. Malcolm R. McCann, 70, St. Augustine Shores, who died Sept. 25, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Augustine Shores United Methodist Church, with Rev. Matt Swartsel, pastor, officiating.

David Shaw
David Robert Shaw, 52, St. Augustine, died Sept. 25, 1997, from injuries received in a motorcycle accident. He was born in Flint, Mich., and had lived in St. Augustine for the past four years. He was retired from General Motors, and he had worked as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Funeral services and burial will be in Flint, with Whipple Funeral Home, (810) 686-5070, in charge of arrangements. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to the Sertoma Club, P.O. Box 804, St. Augustine, Fla. 32085.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Shaw, St. Augustine; his mother, Ollie Shaw, Clio, Mich.; two daughters, Kelly Morris, Flint, and Nicole Hart, Mt. Morris, Mich.; a son, Matthew Shaw, Swartz Creek, Mich.; a sister, Diana Mudge, Clio; and four grandchildren.

Leo Smith
Leo J. Smith, 96, St. Augustine, died Sept. 26, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. He moved here 10 years ago from Duluth, Minn., where he was born. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he retired from U.S. Steel in 1968. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #1478 in West Duluth, Minn. He was a member of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine.
Funeral services will be in Duluth at the Williams-Lobermeier Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to the Cathedral.
He is survived by two daughters, Grace Keenan, St. Augustine, Claire Lee Vernell, Hubbard, Ohio; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jeptha Stribling
Jeptha Monroe Stribling, 89, St. Augustine, died Sept. 26, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Laurence County, Ga., and had lived in St. Augustine since 1948. He was a member of Wards Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wards Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Switzerland Cemetery. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home Chapel today from 2 to 4 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Viola "Bootie" Stribling, St. Augustine; his daughter, Maryna Arlene Stribling, St. Augustine; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Eva Darling
Eva M. Darling, 92, St. Augustine, died Sept. 26, 1997, at St. Augustine Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Orono, Maine, and moved here from Hampden, Maine, five years ago. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary #4633 VFW of Hampden.
A memorial services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in St. Augustine at a later date.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Darling, and one son, William Holt.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Leo Emerson, St. Augustine; two grandsons and several great-grandchildren.

Earl White Sr.
Earl Joseph White Sr., 84, St. Augustine, died Sept. 27, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. He was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine. He was retired from the maintenance department of Marineland of Florida. He was of the Catholic faith.
Private funeral services were held.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Haskell White, two daughters, Joyce Phillips and Mrs. D.R. (Kathleen) Greenleaf, all of St. Augustine; two sons, Earl J. White Jr., St. Augustine, David White, Nyack, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Candace Scott
Candace LaShae Scott, 16, 250 Riberia St., died Sept. 27, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. She was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine. She was a student at The Evelyn Hamblen Center, and a member of St. Paul AME Church and Sunday school. She was a member of the Melzetta Phillips Choir and the Angelics at her church.
She is survived by her mother, Gina B. Tobler; two brothers, Marlon and Marcus Tobler; two grandmothers, Barbara Britton and Eartha Brown; two grandfathers, Elder Early Brown and Frances Floyd; two aunts, Drina Britton and Rose Brown, all of St. Augustine, Robin Owens, Jacksonville; an uncle, Curtis Richardson, Jacksonville; a guardian, Alice Owens; cousins and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul AME Church, with the Rev. F.D. Richardson Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel of Chase and Son Funeral Home from 5-9 p.m. today, and at the church from noon Wednesday until the hour of services.

Robert Jones
Robert M. Jones, 76, died Sept. 28, 1997, at the home of his daughter, 24 Anderson St. He moved here from Clearwater, and he had attended the University of Illinois. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, and he was an industrial engineer for Houdaille Industrial in Huntington, W.Va.
Private funeral services are planned.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Elizabeth Jones, St. Augustine; a son, Gregory Powell Jones, Lewisburg, Tenn.; a brother, two sisters and four grandchildren.
Croyle Funeral Home is in charge.

Gary Lundquist
Gary Lundquist, 54, St. Augustine, died Sept. 28, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. He was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and he had lived in St. Augustine since 1989. He was a retired school teacher, having taught for 19 years in Hunterdon County, N.J. He was co-owner of an antique shop in Lahaska, Pa., with his late mother, Marjorie Lundquist. He was a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School and Kansas State Teachers College, and he and his wife owned Oasis of Quality on Aviles Street for several years. He was a collector of political buttons.
Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gregg Fischer officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of services.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Lundquist, St. Augustine; a son, Greg Lundquist, Kansas; and one sister, Karen E. Lundquist, St. Augustine.
Watts Funeral Home is in charge.

Candace Scott

Claude Varnes, 77, Federal Point Road, died Sept. 29, 1997, at the Ponce de Leon Care Center, following a long illness.
Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary.

Reginald Blount
Reginald Dewayne Blount, 28, Jacksonville, died Sept. 28, 1997, in University Medical Center, Jacksonville. He was born in St. Augustine, and he had resided in Jacksonville for the past three years. He was a member of the Church of the Kingdom of God, Palatka.
Survivors include his wife, Ericka D. Blount, Jacksonville; daughters, Diamond, Jacksonville, Ureka, St. Augustine; a son, Dwayne Mack, Jacksonville; his mother, Lola Whitty, father, Arlis Blount Jr., stepfather, James Whitty Jr., all of St. Augustine; brothers, Arlis, Antonio, Kleshon, Tony, Bobby, Jammie, Adonis; sisters, Coretta, Ericka, Cassidy, Tonya and Tiguana, and other relatives.
Arrangements will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.

Olivia Brewer
Olivia Taylor Brewer, infant daughter of William C. and Patricia G. Brewer, died Sept. 29, 1997, at her home in Julington Creek. She was born in Jacksonville, and she was a member of Switzerland Community Church.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Memorial Park, with the Rev. Wesley Slough, pastor of Switzerland Community Church, officiating. Friends may call at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brewer, maternal grandparents, Garner and Marilyn Ayers, all of the Northwest St. Johns County area; and maternal grandparents Ed and Virginia Lafreniere, Jacksonville; paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Bishop, Inez Brewer, all of the Northwest section of St. Johns County; and maternal great-grandparents, Vance Ayers, Virginia, Eleanor F. Hornsby, Fort Myers, as well as paternal and maternal great-great-grandparents and other relatives.
