Edward Hall
Edward Moore Hall, 67, Easton, Conn., died April 14, 1997, at Norwalk Hospital. A native of St. Augustine, he was known as ``Coach,'' in Westport having worked for 39 years as a physical education teacher and coach at Bedford Middle School. He also served as club football coach at Fairfield University for seven years and at Norwalk Community College for six years, as well as coaching basketball for two seasons at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn. In 1976, he was honored with the Sportsman of Westport Special Award, and when he retired last year as a teacher, he was honored by 500 friends and former students at a banquet held in Westport. At that time, an Eddie Hall Scholarship Fund was established.
While living in St. Augustine as a youth, he played football and basketball and ran track at St. Joseph Academy, under the direction of the late J.E. ``Red'' Cox, who was instrumental in encouraging Hall to enroll at Cox's alma mater, the University of Bridgeport.
Funeral services were held April 18 at the Notre Dame of Easton. Burial followed in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport.
Those wishing may make a donation, in his memory, to the Edward M. Hall Scholarship Fund, c/o Bill Mitchell, 670 Post Road East, Westport, Conn. 06880.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a son, Edward Jr.; daughters, Melissa and Stephanie; and a twin brother, Robert Hall, Atlantic Beach.

Wayne Joranlien
Wayne Joranlien, 64, St. Augustine. a former music instructor in the St. Johns County schools, died April 23, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. Arrangements will be announced by Craig Funeral Home.
Flowers are gratefully accepted, or those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the American Heart Association, 5851 St. Augustine Road, Jacksonville, 32207.

Ethel Morgan
Ethel Morgan, 94, formerly of Lexington, Ky., died April 22, 1997, at Flagler Hospital West. Funeral services will be held at a later date in Kentucky.
Flagler Memorial Cremation Society is in charge.

Madras Turner
Madras Mae Turner, 83, Fort Lauderdale, died April 20, 1997, at the Florida Medical Center Hospital North, Fort Lauderdale. She was born in Wadley, Ga., and she had resided in St. Augustine from 1936 until about 13 years ago when she moved to Fort Lauderdale. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Augustine, and she served with the church's missionary society.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. A.J. Williams, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
Services will also be held at noon Saturday at Sanclair Baptist Church, Wadley, Ga., with the Rev. A.C. Epps, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sanclair Cemetery, with the Hudson Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include sons, Willie A. Turner Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Alfred Charles Turner, Tampa; four sisters, Millard Turner, Mildred Turner, Wilma Feacher, Alma Davis; four grandchildren and other relatives.

Julia Washington
Funeral services for Julia Smith Washington, 90, 867 W. Sixth St., who died April 19, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Sidney Hardy, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday; and at the church from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of services.

Charles Curtis
Charles T. Curtis, 77, Mt. Dora, died April 22, 1997. He was born in Western Springs, Ill., and he moved to Central Florida in 1995 from St. Augustine. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and he had served as an electronics engineer with the U.S. Government. He was a member of the Lake Amateur Radio Association, a founder of the St. Augustine IBM Users Group and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife, Evelin J. Curtis, Mt. Dora; three sons, Ted Curtis, St. Louis, Mo., John Curtis, Anacortes, Wash., Richard Curtis, Maple Falls, Wash.; a daughter, Mary Jean Fritz, Mequon, Wis.; one sister, Elaine Shealy, Birmingham, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.
Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, 1704 Donnelly St., Mt. Dora, is in charge.

Harry Hood Jr.
Harry Lee Hood Jr., 58, Kernersville, N.C., died April 23, 1997, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born in St. Augustine, the son of Harry Lee and Edith Lawrence Hood, and he was employed by Fairchild Industries for 25 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roy Cantrell, the Rev. Jack Rose and the Rev. Ben Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1:30 p.m. Saturday until the hour of services, and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 2816 Abbots Creek Church Road, High Point, N.C., 27265-9207, or to a favorite charity.
Survivors include his mother, Edith L. Hood, Kernersville; and five nieces, Betty Dyal, Sue Bodkin, Nell Harrington, Mirian Griffin and Antoinette Westbrook.

Clyde Hubbard
Clyde Annon Hubbard, 87, 2 Veronese, died April 24, 1997, at the Buckingham Smith Memorial Home. He moved here a year ago from Lavonia, Ga. He was born in Franklin County, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a barber by profession in Atlanta and Toccoa.
Funeral services and burial will be in Lavonia.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Jane Hubbard, St. Augustine; a daughter, Martha Smith, St. Augustine; three sisters, Dora Cothran, Lavonia, Lillie Stowe, Toccoa, Amilee Walters, Elberton; one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
Croyle Funeral Home is in charge.

Philip Rockcastle
Philip Charles Rockcastle, 64, 701 Belden Court, died April 23, 1997, at his home. He was born in Chicago, Ill., and he was a construction loan officer with Merrill Lynch.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ann Rockcastle; one daughter, Cathleen Houssami, St. Augustine; a brother, James Rockcastle, Illinois; and two grandchildren.
American Family Cremation Society is in charge.

James Sharrock
James Stanley Sharrock, 85, St. Augustine, died April 24, 1997, at the Samantha Wilson Senior Citizens Home. He was born in Haley, Tenn., and he had resided in St. Augustine since 1978. He was a retired attorney, and he had worked for a number of years for the Internal Revenue Service. He was vice president of MODE Inc., Jacksonville, and he was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Deena Galantowicz, priest in charge, officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to Trinity Episcopal Church building fund, 215 St. George St., St. Augustine, 32084; to Grace Episcopal Church, 108 Haywood St., Waynesville, N.C. 28782; or to a favorite charity.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Jones Sharrock, St. Augustine; three daughters, Suzanne Shealy, Janet Herndan, both of Sarasota, Melinda G. Burchardi, Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, James Sharrock, Sarasota, George J. Garcia III, Neptune Beach; and 12 grandchildren.

Janet Gibson
Memorial services for Janet Lucille Cornell Gibson, 89, who died April 23, 1997, were held at the Chapel at The Carriage Club of Jacksonville where she lived. The Rev. James Cooper and the Rev. Gerry Walston of Christ Episcopal Church, Ponte Vedra Beach, officiated.
Graveside services will be held at the Middleburg Cemetery, Middleburg, N.Y., adjacent to her family home. Flowers are gratefully declined; those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to Mission House, P.O. Box 50398, Jacksonville Beach, Fla. 32240.
She was a graduate of the Carter School of Music, Philadelphia, Pa. She was a composer and an accomplished concert pianist. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution and she was a contributing founder of the Mission House, Jacksonville Beach.
She was the wife of the late David S. Gibson.
She is survived by her sons, Rodger W. Gibson, Ponte Vedra Beach, and David B. Gibson, Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary McCallum
Mary Frances Monroe McCallum, 83, Marion, S.C., died April 24, 1997. She was born in Marion, and she was a former St. Augustine resident. She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Florence, S.C., the United Methodist Women, Lottie Wells Sunday School Class, Iris Garden Club of Florence and associate member of the Sidney Lanier Literary Club.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Central United Methodist Church chapel, Florence.
The family suggests memorials, in her memory, to a favorite charity.
Mrs. McCallum was the wife of the late Edward J. McCallum.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. C.D. Ballenger, Florence; and two nephews, Robert Theodore Williams, Batesburg, and David Michael Ballenger, Florence.

James Sharrock

Memorial services for John L. Galley, 61, St. Augustine, who died April 21, 1997, at his home, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Dome in Beverly Beach. Wayne Joranlien
Memorial services for Wayne M. Joranlien, 64, St. Augustine, who died April 23, 1997, will be held at 5 p.m. Monday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Mary Wright officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Craig Funeral Home chapel.
Elks services begin at 7 p.m. today at the Craig chapel.
A choir is being formed to sing at the memorial service, and persons interested in participating are asked to meet at the church at 3:45 p.m. Monday for a brief rehearsal prior to the service.

Henrietta Martin
Henrietta Mattie Martin, 82, St. Augustine, died April 26, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Swainsboro, Ga., and had lived here for the past 45 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Craig Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Robinson, Elkton, June Sundeman and Frances Suhar, St. Augustine, Barbara Crosby, W. Columbia, S.C., and Toni M. Robinson, Jupiter; her sons, Ronald E. Martin, Lusby, Md., and Curtis L. Martin, Florence, S.C.; 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Henrietta Martin
Funeral services for Henrietta Mattie Martin, 82, St. Augustine, who died April 26, 1997, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Craig Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home today from 5 to 8 p.m.

Opal Carter
Opal Evans Carter, 82, Orange Park, died April 28, 1997, at the Life Care Center, Orange Park. She was born in Louisville, Ky., and she had resided in Orange Park since 1994.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Orange Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Standifer officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in her memory, to Hospice Northeast, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, 32257.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Edward Carter, one son, Robert E. Carter, both of Orange Park; a sister, Hazel Holland, Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Walter Donnelly
Walter Edward Donnelly, 95, Ponte Vedra Beach, died April 27, 1997, at Palm Gardens Nursing Home, Jacksonville. He was born in New York City, and he moved to Lauderhill in 1973. He moved to Ponte Vedra Beach three years ago. He was a salesman for Consolidated Edison Company of New York for 39 years, and he retired in 1969. He was a life member of the Veterans Association of the 71st Regiment, National Guard of the State of New York, and he served in the U.S. Army 71st Infantry Military Police in the Philippines and Persia during World War II.
His wife, Irene R. Donnelly, died in 1989.
Survivors include a daughter, Naomi Burday, Irvington, N.J.; a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Amato, Ponte Vedra Beach; and a niece, Glenna M. Terrell, Ponte Vedra Beach.
Private services are planned. Croyle Funeral Home is in charge.

William Evans
William Ellis Evans, 69, St. Augustine, died April 28, 1997, in Flagler Hospital East. Arrangements will be announced by Craig Funeral Home.

Robert Hobbs
Robert K. Hobbs, 74, died April 28, 1997, at his Flagler Estates home, following a long illness. Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary.

Edwin Lindroth
Edwin O. Lindroth, St. Augustine Shores, died April 26, 1997, at his home, following a lengthy illness. He and his wife of 58 years had operated a catering service in New York City for 40 years. His wife died Feb. 27. Mr. Lindroth had resided in St. Augustine for 17 years, and he was a longtime member of the St. Augustine Ballroom Dance Association and the Riverview Club.
Private services were held. Those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to Hospice Northeast, 1400 Old Dixie Hwy., Suite A, St. Augustine, 32086.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
