Daniel Brewster, 58, St. Augustine, died April 11, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Portland, Maine, and he was an antique salesman.
Private services are planned.
Survivors include three sisters, Lorraine C. Neuts, Gorham, Maine, Frances E. Sprague, Carmel, Maine, Mary Brown, Portland, Maine; three brothers, Lawrence Brewster, Bangor, Maine, Thomas Brewster, Ashford, Conn., and Ralph Brewster, Toges, Maine.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

Edith Foster
Edith Marie Foster, 82, St. Augustine, died April 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and she was a member of Cathedral Parish. She attended The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Sisters of St. Joseph Convent chapel. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the convent chapel.
Survivors include two nieces, Sister Susan Foster, SSJ, St. Augustine, Charlene LeBleu, Columbus, Ga.; and one nephew, Joseph Foster III, St. Augustine.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

Rose Kucharczyk
Funeral services for Rose Anna Kucharczyk, 81, St. Augustine, who died April 11, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West, will be held at 10 a.m Friday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Ed Booth, associate pastor at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 9 a.m. Friday until the hour of services.

Nellie Souppa
Nellie B. Souppa, 67, St. Augustine, died April 15, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. She was born in Danbury, Conn., and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1988. She was a certified home health aide, and she was of the Methodist faith.
Private services are planned.
Survivors include her husband, Norwin Souppa, St. Augustine; a daughter, Nellie Havlicek, Hastings; one son, Nick Souppa, St. Augustine; and three grandchildren.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

Gerald Bennett
Gerald Bennett, 71, John Street, died April 12, 1998, at his home. He was born in St. Augustine, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was owner of Bennett Engineering, Miami.
Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Wessman, Parkland, Patricia Urban, Fort Lauderdale; a brother, Leroy Bennett, Daytona Beach; one sister, Lois Todd, St. Augustine; and four grandchildren.
Private services were held. Croyle Funeral Home was in charge.

James Walker
Deacon James Carl Walker, 75, 954 W. Pearl St., died April 16, 1998, at Memorial Hospital-Ormond, Ormond Beach. He was born in Quincy, and he had resided here since 1960. He was a member of New St. James Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Walker, St. Augustine; sons, Willie James Walker, Miami, Arthur Lee Brinson, St. Augustine, Larry Brinson, Lake City; Antonio Brinson St. Augustine; a sister, Jean Atkinson, Miami; and other relatives.
Arrangements will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.

Michael Emerson
Michael M. Emerson, 42, Kirkwood, Mo., formerly of St. Augustine, died April 16, 1998, in Kirkwood. He was born in Washington, D.C., and he moved to St. Augustine 10 years ago, renovating and opening The Old Powder House Inn. He was a founding member of the Inn Association of St. Augustine, and a founding member of the Associated Bed and Breakfast Inns of Ste. Genevieve, Mo. He was also an artist and businessman, renovating and rebuilding the historic Inn St. Gemme Beauvais, Ste. Genevieve.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers or masses, the family requests memorials to Cardinal Glennon Hospital office of development, Bob Costas Cancer Center, 1465 South Grand Ave., St. Louis, Mo. 63104.
Survivors include his wife, Constance M. Emerson; three sons, Jason M., Aaron M. and Andrew B. Emerson; his mother, Ruby Owen Paris; and a brother, James O. Emerson. Other relatives also survive.
Bopp Funeral Home, Kirkwood, is in charge.

Stanford Givens
Stanford Givens, 39, died April 13, 1998, in West Palm Beach from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He attended St. Augustine High School and the St. Augustine Technical Center, and he was employed by Florida East Coast Railway. He was born Feb. 3, 1959, in Palatka, to Elouise Givens and to the late James Givens.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Hastings Elementary Gym. Burial will be in Palatka Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the gym from noon today until the hour of services.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Elaine Givens, Hastings; two daughters, Trenae Hoskins, St. Augustine, Trista Givens, Hastings; three sons, Pvt. 2nd Class Stanford Givens Jr., Fort Campbell, Ky., Darrius Givens, Hastings; his mother, Elouise Romer, St. Augustine; his grandmothers, Oreen Jackson, Palatka, Fannie Lou Davis, Rebecca, Ga.; grandfather, Ed Givens, Bluffton, S.C.; and two grandchildren.
He was also the father of the late Derrick Givens.
Coleman Mortuary, Hastings, is in charge.

Loreen Sherman
Loreen Sherman, 82, died April 15, 1998, at Vencor Hospital, Green Cove Springs, following a long illness. Arrangements will be announced by Coleman's Mortuary, Hastings.

Rosa Spicer
Rosa M. Spicer, 87, St. Augustine died April 17, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. Arrangements will be announced by Craig Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to your favorite charity.

Lucy Stewart
Lucy Stewart, 84, SR 13, died April 15, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West.
Private services were held today at Coleman's Mortuary chapel. Flowers are gratefully declined.
Survivors include her husband, Harold Stewart, St. Augustine; one daughter, Shelley Guay, Smyrna, Ga.; two sons, John Hall and Harry Hall, both of Canada; and three grandchildren.

Diane Seaman
Memorial services for Diane Marion Booth Seaman, 40, of St. Augustine will be announced by Craig Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to the Minorcan Cultural Society, PO Box 3565, St. Augustine, Fla, 32085.

Rosa Spicer
Rosa M. Spicer, 87, St. Augustine, died April 17, 1998 at Flagler Hospital West. She was born in St. Augustine and had resided here most of her life. She was a heritage native and a descendant of the Sanchez-Alverze families. She was an honorary member of the Las Adelfas Garden Club, a life member of the Laurel Historical Society in Laurel, Del. and a member of the Cathedral Parish.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at San Lorenzo Cemetery with Reverend Terry Smith officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to your favorite charity.
She is survived by a daughter, Virginia S. Griggs; one son, Robert F. Spicer, both of St. Augustine; four granddaughters and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roland F. Spicer.

Harry P. Alexander Sr.
Harry Peter Alexander Sr., 80, died April 18, 1998, at Arbors Rehabilitation Center, Jacksonville, following a short illness. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., Feb. 23, 1918, and he was a lifelong resident of St. Augustine. He graduated from St. Joseph Academy in 1937 and attended the University of Florida.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving during World War II, and he worked for the Florida East Coast Railway for 23 years and for Wise Potato Chip Company for 15 years, retiring in 1979. He had volunteered at the St. Johns County Clerk of the Court's office since 1987. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 37, St. Augustine Shores Riverview Club, St. Johns County Sports Club and the St. Augustine Gator Club.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Craig Funeral Home chapel.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to St. Anastasia Church building fund, 5205 A1A South, St. Augustine, 32084; or to St. Joseph Academy, 155 SR 207, St. Augustine, 32095.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, LaVerne Powers Alexander; five children, Harry P. Alexander Jr., Roswell, Ga., Richard J. Alexander, Riverdale, Ga., Nancy A. DuPont, Thomas P. Alexander, John M. Alexander, all of St. Augustine; two sisters, Bessie Moutsatos, Tarpon Springs, Lillian Alexander, Holiday; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Lucy Stewart, 84, State Road 13, died April 15, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Stewart, St. Augustine; one daughter, Shelley Guay, Smyrna, Ga.; two sons, John Hall, Kingbridge, Canada, Harry Hall, Uxbridge, Canada; and three grandchildren.
Private services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. Coleman's Mortuary was in charge.

Lula Victory
Lula Victory, 73, 854 W. First St., died April 19, 1998, at her home, following an extended illness.
Arrangements will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.

Finn Herold
Finn Olav Herold, 68, St. Augustine Beach, died April 20, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. He was born in Denmark, and he had resided here for the past four years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Korea, and he was a retired electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Inger Herold, St. Augustine; one daughter, Nina Mooney, Arnold, Mo.; a brother, Poulcq Herold, Denmark; and two grandchildren.
Private services are planned. Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

Louis Herring
Louis J. "Bill" Herring, 76, Merritt Island, a former East Palatka resident, died April 19, 1998, at Wuesthoff Hospital, Rockledge. He was born in Knox City, Texas, and he had lived in Miami and Putnam County before moving to Merritt Island. He was a retired building contractor, and he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a past exalted ruler of Elks Lodge No. 948, Miami, and a member of the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, Merritt Island and St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Elkton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with Father Patrick Carroll officiating. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Cemetery. No calling hours or vigil are scheduled.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine England, Merritt Island, Mary Frances Bell, Summerlin Key; and four grandchildren.
Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home, Palatka, is in charge.

Bill Irvin
Bill Irvin, 64, Bridgeton, N.J., died April 13, 1998, in South Jersey Hospital, Bridgeton Division. He was born in St. Augustine, and he had resided in Bridgeton for the past 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he was a member of American Legion Post No. 0444. He was a barber at Mr. Dave's Barber and Hair Styling Shop for over 20 years.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chase and Son Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. F.D. Richardson Jr., pastor of St. Paul AME Church, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Chase chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of services.
Survivors include his mother, Alberta Irvin, St. Augustine; a brother, Randolph Alveraz, St. Augustine; and other relatives.

Arbe Labonte Jr.
Arbe J. Labonte Jr., 69, died April 17, 1998, at the Arbors at Jacksonville Nursing Home. For several years, he had resided on Wildwood Drive, St. Augustine, and he summered for many years at Basin Cove, Harpswell, Maine, and formerly had lived most of his life in Rumford, Maine.
He was born in Rumford, and he was a member of the Class of 1946 of Stephens High School, Rumford. He served as an Army second lieutenant during the Korean Conflict from July 1952-October 1953, and he was a former grocery store and carpet and tile center operator until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church, St. Augustine, and he also held membership in Rumford Lodge No. 862, Elks; was a life member of the Father Ambrose J. Barry Council No. 2091, Knights of Columbus; member of the Robert Shand Post No. 1641, VFW; and Napoleon Ouellette Post No. 24, American Legion in Rumford. He was also a member of the St. Augustine FOE.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Athanasius-St. John Church, Rumford. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Maine.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Mae Chick Labonte, St. Augustine; four daughters, Geraldine Arsenault, Farmington, N.M., Cindy Labonte, Lewiston, Maine, Paula Dailey, Buena Park, Calif., Denise Hebert, Chester, Va.; two sons, Gary, Gabriel, Calif., Larry Labonte, Rumford; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Meader and Son Funeral Home, Rumford, is in charge.

Ernest Mathies
Ernest Mathies, 87, 2391 U.S. 1 South, Lot 16, died April 20, 1998, at the St. Johns Health Care Center. Arrangements will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.
