Gertrude Taylor
Gertrude Leone Taylor, 81, of St. Augustine died May 8, 1998, in Holly Hill. Born in Milan, Missouri, she was a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist College and had a master's degree from the University of Florida. She taught in public schools from 1953 to 1981 with many honors and was the first woman in Florida to become an assistant principal. She organized the St. Augustine chapter of the American Association of University Women, was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma, Sigma Tau Delta, Phi Kappa Phi and was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa. She has lived in St. Augustine since 1953 and was a member of Anastasia Baptist Church, which she and her husband, the late Rev. Glen M. Taylor helped to found.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Memorial Park with Rev. Ron Moore, pastor of Anastasia Baptist Church, officiating.
Flowers are gratefully denied and those wishing may make donations in her memory to the Hammock Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, c/o Rev. Roger Huth, 5918 North Oceanshore Blvd., Palm Coast, Fla. 32137.
Taylor is survived by her daughter, Barbara Corbell of St. Augustine; three sisters, Imo Jean Pipes and Cora Josephine Mortimer, both of St. Augustine and Delores D. Shurick of Cherokee, N.C.; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Craig Funeral Home.

Rudolph Hadley
Rudolph Butler Hadley Sr., 70, of Waycross, Ga., died May 8, 1998. He died at the Mariner Health Care Center, St. Augustine. Hadley was retired from the U.S. Office of Education as a compliance official. He was also the former St. Johns County Educator and Administrator. He belonged to the Venentian Club, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Kiwanis Club and Habitat of St. Johns County. Hadley was the first president of the Lincolnville Improvement Association. He had a bachelor's degree from Bethune Cookman College and a master's degree from Indiana University.
Hadley belonged to the Bethel AME Church of Atlanta and St. Paul AME of St. Augustine.
Burial services will be announced by Chase and Son Funeral Home.
Survivors include wife, Joyce Peek Hadley; two sons, Rudolph Hadley Jr. and Garrett DeVantt; a daughter, Kathleen Hadley Smith and four grandchildren.

Gertrude Taylor

Walter Beyer
Walter W. Beyer, 89, St. Augustine, died May 9, 1998, at the Arbors at Orange Park. He was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, and he had resided here since 1995. He had worked as a tool and die maker for Spaulding Fiber. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and the Masonic Lodge, both in North Tonawanda, N.Y.
Survivors include two sons, Walter R. Beyer, St. Augustine, William K. Beyer, Moundsville, Ala.; one brother, Wilhelm Beyer, Berlin, Germany; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Private services are planned. Craig Funeral Home is in charge.

William Sides
William R. ``Bill'' Sides, 52, St. Augustine, died May 8, 1998. He was born in Albemarle, N.C., and he was employed by ECO Water Systems, formerly Lindsay Water Conditioning.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 6940 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Victor L. Dukes; daughters, Cylina Sides-Nifong, Christina L. Sides; his mother, Ruth Dunn; stepfather, Clyde W. Dunn; a sister, Helen Ann Cicale; stepdaughter, Melissa Burggraf; and three grandchildren.

George Kabus
George F. Kabus, 58, St. Augustine, died May 9, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. He was born in Jacksonville, and he had resided here since 1988. He was a self-employed land developer in Maryland before moving to St. Augustine. He was a graduate of the University of Baltimore.
He was the son of the late Felix Kabus and Margaret Lorraine Burnett.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Kabus, St. Augustine; two daughters, Trish Kabus, Diana Kabus, both of St. Augustine; and his maternal grandmother, Lela Loose, Jacksonville.
Memorial services are planned at a later date.

James Baker
James Harold Baker, 57, born in Haydenburg, Tenn., went to be with Jesus on May 12, 1998. He had resided in St. Augustine since 1961. He was owner of Baker Pest Control and All Precious and Pleasant Riches. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, having served as a deacon and adult Sunday school teacher.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Calvary Baptist Church, 110 Masters Drive, with the Rev. Mark Conrad and Dr. Armando Silverio officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a contribution, in his memory, to the Building Fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 110 Masters Drive, St. Augustine, 32095.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Patricia S. Baker; a daughter, Cathy B. Dowdy, her husband, Richard; sons James Ronald Baker, his wife, Robin; and James Donald Baker and his wife Dianne; along with seven grandchildren, Richard Dowdy Jr. and Anna Dowdy, Layton, Preston, Dalton, Andrew and Sarah Baker, all of St. Augustine; brothers, Jonah L. Baker, St. Augustine, Hank Morgan, Bradenton; sisters, Jo Crawford, Hinesville, Ga., Dean Morgan, Bradenton, Wilma Sisko, Ruskin; and many nieces and nephews.

Hewlette Feltman
Hewlette Judge Feltman, 76, St. Augustine, died May 11, 1998, at his home. He was born in Brooks, Ga., and he was a retired automobile body maintenance department worker for the U.S. Department of Defense. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Augustine Memorial Park, with the Rev. Albert Rowell, pastor of Murray Hill United Methodist Church, Jacksonville, officiating. Friends may call at Craig Funeral Home chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Feltman, a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia F. Azar and Michael David Coontz, North Palm Beach; one son, L. Michael Feltman, Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Michael Adam Feltman and his wife, Tina; Mark Austin Feltman, Michele Feltman Wiley and her husband, James; and Kevin G. Azar; two brothers, Grady Feltman, Norwalk, Conn., and Guy Feltman, Griffin, Ga.

Nancy Glisson
Nancy Jane Glisson, 51, Elkton, died May 7, 1998, at the home of her daughter in Hastings, following a long illness. She was a native of St. Augustine and a lifelong resident of St. Johns County, and she was a member of Bible Baptist Church, St. Augustine.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Ronald Glisson, Elkton; a son, Jeffery Harold Glisson, Elkton; one daughter, Nangy Dawn Cochran, Hastings; three brothers, Paul, Pallas and Bobby Stewart, all of Hastings; her stepmother, Marsha Stewart, Hastings; a half-brother, Barry Stewart, St. Augustine; and a half-sister, Belinda Capella, Hastings.
Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home and Crematory, Palatka, is in charge.

Felicia Harnage
Felicia Franz Harnage, 62, St. Augustine, died May 12, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and she had resided in St. Augustine since 1979. She was a member of San Sebastian Catholic Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at San Sebastian Catholic Church, with the Rev. Peter Colasurdo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Flowers are gratefully declined, and those wishing may make a donation, in her memory, to the Florida Sheriffs' Youth Ranches, Boys Ranch, Fla. 32060; or to Rodeheaver Boys' Ranch, HC01 Box RBR, Palatka, 32177.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph D. Harnage, St. Augustine; two daughters, Felicia Renae Cartwright, Daytona Beach, G. Dawn Schuman, Jacksonville; a sister, Rose Rothwell; and eight grandchildren.

Nathaniel Jackson Sr.
Bishop Nathaniel Jackson Sr., presiding bishop in the House of God Saints in Christ, Florida District, and pastor of Macedonia Holiness Church, 169 W. King St., died May 9, 1998, in a Jacksonville hospital.
A wake will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mt. Moriah HOGSIC, 1005 Odessa St., Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cathedral of Faith, 2591 W. Beaver St., Jacksonville.
Marion Graham Mortuary, 900A Phillip Randolph Blvd., Jacksonville, is in charge.

M.C. Morgan
Memorial services for M.C. Morgan, 64, St. Augustine, who died May 6, 1998, at Flagler Hospital East, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home.

Mattie Capo
Mattie Sue Capo, 94, Elkton, died May 13, 1998, at the Ponce de Leon Care Center. She was born in Morganton, N.C., and she had resided here since 1976. She was a member of the Council on Aging and Ancient City Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at San Lorenzo Cemetery, with the Rev. Dell Cook, associate pastor of Ancient City Baptist Church, officiating.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Mary Elizabeth Torsanko, Florahome; three sisters, Florence Robinson, Morganton, Dessie White, Versie Bell White, both of Casar, N.C.; a brother, Grover Chapman, Morganton; two stepgrandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Cyrus Gover
Cyrus L. Gover, 84, St. Augustine Beach, died May 13, 1998, at his home. He was born in Stanford, Ky., and he had resided here for the past year. He was the former principal of the California School for the Deaf, Riverside.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Craig Funeral Home chapel with Glenn Logston, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at Craig chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Survivors include one sister, Nettie Fleming, St. Augustine Beach; a half-brother, David Gover, Greenville, S.C.; one nephew, Jack Gover, Daytona Beach; and a niece, Margaret Thurmond, Corbin, Ky.

Survivors include one son, Bennie Cail, and a grandson, Dr. M.J. Halyard, pastor of United Missionary Baptist Church, Jacksonville.

Ruth Small
Ruth Frances Small, 89, St. Augustine, died May 13, 1998, at Flagler Hospital West. She was a native of St. Augustine, and she had worked as a guide with the Oldest House for many years. She was a member of Cathedral Parish.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Craig Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Ed Booth, associate pastor of the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Augustine, officiating. Burial will be in San Lorenzo Cemetery.
Survivors include one niece, Mary Alice Masters, Elkton; one nephew, Lloyd Small, St. Augustine; and a great-niece, Monica Masters, St. Augustine.

James Baker
James Harold Baker, 57, born in Haydenburg, Tenn., went to be with Jesus on May 12, 1998. He had resided in St. Augustine since 1961. He served for four years on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1958-61.

Rudolph Hadley Sr.
Funeral services for Rudolph Butler Hadley Sr., 70, St. Augustine, who died May 8, 1998, at the Mariner Health Care Center, will be held at noon Friday at St. Paul AME Church, 85 M.L. King Ave. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Friends may call at St. Paul AME Church from 5 to 7 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. Friday until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in his memory, to St. Paul AME Church Child Care Development Center, POB 4108, St. Augustine, 32085.
Mr. Hadley, a community leader and educator, was the grandson of the late Frank B. Butler. Mr. Butler was a businessman in St. Augustine, a community leader and developer, having founded Butler Beach.
Rudy, as he was known, was a caring, supportive family man. He gave his children many opportunities to make their personal choices and was always there to encourage them.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and friend, Joyce; three children, Rudolph Jr., Atlanta, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. George (Kathleen) Smith, St. Augustine, and Mr. and Mrs. Garrett (Linda) Hadley, Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Chris Steven, Elizabeth Mary, John Paul and Paul Steven, Atlanta, Ga.; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James (Grace) Tyson, Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers-in-law, Oscar Peek, Jacksonville, and Mr. and Mrs. Booker (Annette) Peek, Oberlin, Ohio; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
