SYLVESTER - Erman R. Eunice, 82, of 100 Bridges Street #19, Sylvester, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at Phoebe Worth Medical Center.
The graveside funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Cemetery. Dr. Tom Jacobs will officiate.
A native and lifelong resident of Worth County, Mr. Eunice was born March 13, 1920. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base after 20 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was the widower of Eloise Braswell Eunice who preceded him in death December 6, 1996. He was the son of the late Alex Eunice and Katie Viola Robinson Eunice.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Hinton L. (Punk) Braswell of Sylvester; sister-in-law, Geraldine H. Braswell of Sylvester; nephew and wife, Alan and Dene' Braswell of Sylvester; nieces, Joyce Wruck of Franklin, NC, Dorothy Greer of Albany, and Mary Warr of Valrico, FL; great niece and nephew, Brittany and Brent Braswell, both of Sylvester.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 309, Sylvester, GA 31791.

William Grey Hammond
ALBANY - The memorial service of William (Bill) Grey Hammond, 55, of 2507 Nottingham Way, Apt. 502, who died Sunday, March 2, 2003, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. Ronald Baxley will officiate.
A native of Sumter County, GA, Mr. Hammond had resided in Albany for the past 20 years, moving here from Atlanta. He was an Army veteran stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War, was employed with Miller Brewing Co., and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Susan E. Hammond of Albany; a son, James Hammond of Albany; three daughters, Lynn Foust and Michelle Chewning, both of Acworth, GA, and Faith Hammond of Albany; two stepsons, Charlie White of Sylvester and Terry Taylor of Leesburg; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Vinavong of Albany; his mother and stepfather, Faith and Ben Young of Albany; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marilyn Hammond of Leesburg; a sister, Lyn Hammond of Atlanta; and 14 grandchildren.

ALBANY - Amy Witcher Rice, 101, of 26 Rock Springs Ave., West Orange, NJ, died Friday, February 28, 2003, at St. Mary's Life Center, Orange, NJ.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with interment in Arlington, GA. Dr. Daniel Simmons will officiate.
A native of Calhoun County, Mrs. Rice was born August 29, 1900. She was educated in the public schools of Calhoun County.
Survivors include a daughter, Geneva Riley of West Orange, NJ; son, David Riley of California; grandchildren, Brenda Riley, Thomas Riley and Ronald Riley; one great-grandson, Lavar Riley; nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends.

DONALSONVILLE - Willa Dean Chapman, 66, of Donalsonville died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Jakin Baptist Church with interment in Jakin Cemetery. The Rev. Calvin Arnold and the Rev. Eric Boomer will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be the Rev. Tommy McDonald, the Rev. Chuck Scarborough, Kerry Scarborough, Mike Shiver, Mark Shiver, Donnie McCook, Jackie McCook and John Wilkes.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Ladies of Jakin Baptist Church.
Born August 19, 1936, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Chapman was a homemaker and a member of Jakin Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Max Chapman of Donalsonville; two daughters, Charlene and husband, Bob McKernan and Tonita M. Chapman, both of Dothan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Vicki Chapman of Birmingham, AL, and Dennis and Diane Chapman of Prattville, AL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carroll and Marcia Wilkes of Meigs and the Rev. Donnie and Laurel Wilkes of Pelham; one sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Lee Streb of Albany; five grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Stephanie Chapman, Steven Chapman, Peri Chapman, Jennifer and husband, T.G. Revis and Chad McKernan; one great-grandson, Tyler Chapman Revis.

Eugene O. McDonald
AMERICUS - Eugene O. McDonald, 87, of 2019 Rose Avenue, Americus, died Monday, March 3, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Reed Crumbliss and the Rev. Earl Dunmon officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Aldridge Funeral Services.
Mr. McDonald was born March 27, 1915, son of the late Wesley Ruffin McDonald and the late Nettie Sasser McDonald in Lee County, GA. He was employed by Gulf Life Insurance Company for 50 years and owned and operated the E.O. McDonald Insurance Agency in Americus. He is remembered also for operating Gene's Putt Luck Golf for 15 years and published the book "Americus As It Was." He served in the United States Army during World War II and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Americus, a member of the Keystone Bible class, a member of M.B. Council Lodge #13 F.&A.M., a member of Al Shirar Shriners, and a lifetime member of the Americus Jaycees.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Emily Scarborough McDonald of Americus; one daughter, Beverly M. Clark of Manassas Park, VA; two grandsons, Dan and wife Nancy Rasmussen of Damascus, MD, and Jim and wife, Margaret Rasmussen of Stockbridge; three great-grandchildren, Andy and Emily Rasmussen of Damascus, MD, and Gabe Rasmussen of Stockbridge; two sisters-in-law, Doris Scarborough of Macon and Elosie H. Scarborough of Waycross; one brother-in-law, Vernon Scarborough of Macon. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise M. Ranew, Vera M. Biedinger and Ruby M. Roberts and two brothers, George R. McDonald and Jesse L. McDonald.

John Gatewood Pryor
ATLANTA - John Gatewood Pryor, 96, of Sandy Springs died Sunday, March 2, 2003.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
Born on August 25, 1906, in Lee County, GA, near Smithville, Mr. Pryor was the son of Robert Spencer Pryor and Elizabeth Barlow Gatewood Pryor and the namesake of his grandfather, John Gatewood. He was the last surviving child of his father's twelve children, five of whom lived past 90.
Educated through the 10th grade at Smithville, he then attended Emanuel County Institute (ECI) in Graymount-Summit (now Twin City) where his brother-in-law was principal. While at ECI he was a member of the football, basketball and track teams. Reared on a farm, he was fond of saying, "I played in the first football game I saw."
Mr. Pryor received an AB degree from The University of Georgia in 1928 and an MA in 1936. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and president of the UGA junior class.
Following graduation he became principal of the Smithville High School and coach of the women's basketball team. When the team made a road trip to play the team in Cusseta, GA, Mr. Pryor first met Wilda Slappey who would become his wife. Mrs. Pryor still has the first letter he wrote to her, addressed to Miss Slappey, Teacher of English, Cusseta, Georgia. They were married in Albany, Georgia, on June 30, 1938.
After 13 years with the Smithville School, he moved to Albany in 1941, to accept a job with Turner Air Force Base, which was under construction. He served as Civilian Property and Supply Officer and remained at Turner as Chief Clerk of the Supply Department throughout World War II.
While living in Albany he was a member of First Methodist Church and was on the Board of Stewards and a member of the Chancel Choir for 17 years. He was also a member of the Albany Men's Chorus and of the Albany Lions Club.
Mr. Pryor was employed by the Gulf Oil Company in 1948, and in 1959, he moved his family to Sandy Springs. He continued working for Gulf Oil in the auditing and accounting department until his retirement in 1971.
While living in Sandy Springs he was a member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church and its Board of Stewards and the Chancel Choir. He retired from the latter after 37 years at the age of 90.
Following his retirement from Gulf Oil, he began genealogical research on his and his wife's families. In addition to publishing a monograph about his mother and contributing to several county histories, he wrote A Pryor Family Narrative, which was published in 1995 and his the standard reference of the widespread Pryor family.
Mr. Pryor is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilda Juanita Slappey Pryor of Sandy Springs; a daughter, Judith Ann Pryor Hoxie (Judy) and her husband Andrew Bennett Hoxie of Summerville, SC; a son, John Gatewood Pryor Jr. (Jay) and his wife, Barbara Eleanor Beck Pryor of Dunwoody; and two granddaughters, Katherine Elaine Pryor and Natalie Elizabeth Hoxie.

A native of Mobile, AL, Mr. Glover was born August 12, 1939. He was a printer with Moore Business Forms.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Glover of Albany; three sons, Ronald Wilson Davis of Perry, Jarrett Leigh Glover of Haynesville, and Jerry Glover Sr. of Leesburg; four daughters, Teresa Ann Carranza of Valdosta, Jeanni Cummings of Hope Mills, NC, and Deborah Glover and Lorie Glover, both of Albany; two brothers, Skipper Glover of Benton, AR, and Sparky Glover of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Joyce Galyean of Baton Rouge, LA, and Joan Strickland of Phenix City, AL; 15 grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Michael Joseph Namiak
ALBANY - The funeral service of Michael Joseph Namiak, 19, of Sasser, who died Sunday, March 2, 2003, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mathews Funeral Home with visitation to follow. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate.
A native of Lackawanna County, PA, Mr. Namiak had resided in Sasser for the last seven years, moving from Lee County. He was a 2002 graduate of Terrell County High School where he was a member and participant in the Greenwaves football and baseball teams. He was formerly employed with Reddy Ice, CiCi's Pizza, and was presently employed with Bishop Clean Care. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Leith Howell Morales and Luis Morales Sr. of Sasser; three brothers, Kristofer Hodgins of Dawson, Damion Howell of Albany, Luis Morales Jr. of Colquitt; three sisters, Theresa Preston of Columbus, Macrina Namiak of Albany, and Kaitlyn Hodgins of Dawson; maternal grandparents, John and Nita Howell of Smithville; a host of aunts and uncles; four nephews and one niece.
