ALBANY - Mary Evelyn Bertha Church Bagwell, 80, formerly of Albany, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Mobile, Ala., after a long illness.
The funeral will be at 11 AM Monday at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Tony Haefs will officiate.
A native of Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Bagwell lived in Albany and Sylvester from 1952-1999, and was a retired Civil Service worker at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. She was an active member of Sherwood Baptist Church where she attended the Vota Vita Sunday School Class. A veteran of World War II, she served her country proudly in the Navy Waves stationed in Richmond, VA.
Mrs. Bagwell was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Bagwell; her father, William T. Church; her mother, Bessie Church; brothers, Belvard Church, Frank Church, Brooks Church, Walter Church, and Howard Church; and sisters Goldie Mae Sparks, Bessie Ward, and Juanita Weaver.
Survivors include a daughter, Mahala A. Church of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two sons, Robert W. Bagwell of Albany, and R. Thomas Bagwell of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren, Michele Meehan, Christopher Meehan, Amanda Patterson, Richard Bagwell, Andrew Bagwell, and her great-granddaughter, Brenna Meehan.
Visitation will be 3 PM- 5 PM Sunday at Kimbrell-Stern.

ALBANY - Martin "Marty" Emerson, 72, of Albany, formerly of Massachusetts, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at his residence.
The graveside funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Crown Hill Cemetery. Pastor Chuck Smith will officiate.
A native of Hinsdale, Mass., Mr. Emerson was born November 22, 1930. He was a self-employed electrician and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He had been a member and served as past-president of the Exchange Club. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton, Mass. Mr. Emerson was preceded in death by a son, Fred Bergeron.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Emerson of Albany; a son, Vondus Roger Mann of Albany; five daughters, Lisa Mann of Albany, Dena Mann Lott of Douglas, Sandy Mann of Albany, Beatrice Peterson of Hoosick Falls, NY, and Frances Bergeron of Shirley, Mass.; four sisters, Ester Boraski of Hinsdale, Mass., Priscilla Harris of Conway, Mass., Lucille Mason of Dalton, Mass., and Theda Elwell of Spring Hill, Fla.; a brother, Alvah Emerson of West Cummington, Mass.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - William Nelson Hinson, 91, died Friday, March 7, 2003, in Joplin, MO.
The graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery in Albany.
Born November 29, 1911, in Bainbridge, Mr. Hinson moved to Albany 1975 and had lived in Joplin, MO, since December 2002. He was retired, U.S. Government, Public Health Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Sally H. Potter and Jim of Albany and Anne Landis of Joplin, MO; six grandchildren, Debbie and Todd Judy of Leesburg, Tracy and Jimmy Clark of Leesburg, Jason and Angie Potter of Albany, and Bobby and Amy Landis, Kathy Landis and Michael and Brandi Landis, all of Joplin, MO; 14 great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Justin Judy of Leesburg, Morgan and Landon Clark of Leesburg, Mary, McCain and Will Potter of Albany, Cole, Austin, Blake, Clayton and Jacob Landis, and Grant and Garrett Landis, all of Joplin, MO.

DONALSONVILLE - Frank C. "Tim" Brewer Moore, 55, of Donalsonville departed this life Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 12 p.m. today at Live Oak A.M.E. Church in Donalsonville with interment in Cypress Pond Cemetery in Iron City.
Mr. Moore was born to Benjamin and Ella Martin Brewer October 2, 1947. He was adopted by Herbert and Agnes Brewer Moore at the age of five months. Tim completed his high school education at Seminole County Training School and received a bachelor of arts degree from Morris Brown College June 4, 1969. He was a member of Live Oak A.M.E. Church and Omega Psi Phi fraternity. He received an associate of arts degree in mortuary science from John A. Gupton College, June 18, 1972; licensed embalmer by state of Georgia, July 20, 1972; funeral director license August 9, 1973; honorably discharged U.S. Army, January 1, 1976; license by Georgia State Board of Funeral Service, June 30, 1981; Emergency Medical Technician, November 10, 1982; Seminole County Board of Family & Children, July 1, 1983; Appreciation Georgia School Board Member, February 18, 1990, and Notary Public, October 4, 1996. He was a member of Ramah Lodge No. 136.
Leaving precious memories with those who loved him and many people's lives he touched; six children, Timothy Moore (Teresa) of Marina, Calif., Daniel Williams, Latisha Moore and Timothy Moore, all of Donalsonville, Andrea Jena' Godwin of Jakin and Breanna Moore of Bascom, Fla.; four sisters, Eloise Hopkins of Donalsonville, Phyllis Moore of Atlanta, Rena Moore of Laurel, MD, and Tonya Jackson (Tony) of Atlanta; five brothers, the Rev. David Brewer (Gloria) of Donalsonville, Robert Grigley of Orlando, Fla., Jonathan George (Bonnie) of Shawnee, KS, Gerald Moore (Joan) of Atlanta and Harry Brewer of Miami, Fla.; one aunt, Hattie Collins of Albany; friend, Lessie Williams of Donalsonville; three grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many many sorrowing friends.

ALBANY - The funeral service of John Chalmers (J.C.) Gamble, 79, of 1405 W. Gordon Avenue, who died Friday, March 7, 2003, will be conducted Monday, at 3 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. C.R. Gamble will officiate. Interment will follow in Storey-Odom Cemetery, Worth County, GA.
A native of Crisp Co., GA, Mr. Gamble had resided in Albany for the past 52 years. He was retired from the Marine Base where he was a welder and an Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry L. Gamble and Cecil Gamble, both of Lee County; and two grandchildren, Corey Brett (Catfish) Gamble and Connie Lynn Salter.
The family will receive friends today (Sunday), from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

John Carswell Hind
ALBANY - John Carswell Hind, 80, of Albany, died Friday, March 7, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2003, at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Beckum and the Rev. Dr. Donald M. Kea will officiate. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Born in Reynolds, GA, on June 9, 1922 he was the son of the late Dr. J.C. Hind and Charlotte Malone Hind. Mr. Hind was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Golden "K" Kiwanis, the Ex-POW's Club and an Eagle Scout.
He interrupted his studies at the University of Tennessee, when World War II broke out and enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Third Infantry Division in Europe. He participated in the Angio Beachhead and the following campaigns, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France and and Central Europe, on September 24, 1944, he was wounded and taken captured by German soldiers. He was held in a prison hospital at Stalag IX at Meiningen, Germany until American troops liberated the camp in March of 1945.
Following the war, he completed his education at the University of Tennessee. He then moved to Lee County where he was the owner/operator of a dairy farm for 18 years. Later he worked in the forestry business until retirement
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kay Huston Hind, his children, Gail Barnhill Burke and her husband, John of Cummings, GA, Richard Barnhill and his wife, Vicki, Kenneth Barnhill and his wife, Mary, all of Albany; grandchildren are Christie Hind, Melissa Barnhill, Caroline Barnhill, Whitcomb Barnhill, Stephen Barnhill, Alex Barnhill, Ashley Burke and Lauren Burke. He was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Hind.
The family will be at their home, 1640 N. Valencia Drive and will receive friends today (Sunday), 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern.
