ALBANY - Minnie Jewell Fleming, 67, of 151 Laramore Road, Leesburg, died Tuesday, September 24, 2002, in Fontana, Calif.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Litman Memorial House of God Saints in Christ with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Elder J. Wayne Leggett will officiate.
A native of Lee County, Ms. Fleming was an evangelist. She was educated in the public schools of Lee County and was a member of Hightower Memorial Temple in Douglas.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories; four daughters, Lois Fleming-Chin, Brenda Fleming-Bell, Thelma Fleming-Bell (Jake Jr.) and Bertha Fleming-Hall, all of Alta Loma, Calif.; five sons, Ira Fleming of Leesburg, Lewis (Marife) Fleming Jr. of Vienna, Austria, Marvin Fleming of Irvine, Calif., James (Angela) Fleming of Albany and Ricky Fleming of Alta Loma, Calif.; three surviving sisters, Annie Maude (Willie) Smith of Miami, Fla., Annie Kate Robinson of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and Lizzie (David) Wesley of Rialto, Calif.; five surviving brothers, Clarence (Hazel) Robinson of Albany, Jimmy (Essie) Robinson of Miami, Fla., James (Virginia) Robinson of Albany, W.C. Robinson of Los Angeles, Calif., Ezell (Lucy) Robinson of Atlanta, Charles Robinson of Rialto, Calif.; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who mourns her passing.

ALBANY - Lucious McFarland, 67, of 2206 South Washington Street died Saturday, September 28, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Jermaine Hill will officiate.
A native of Albany, Mr. McFarland was a cab driver. He attended Dougherty County public schools and was a member of Arcadia Baptist Church in Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy King-McFarland of Albany; four daughters, Gail Nwankwonta, Linda Faye Wheeler and Elaine King, all of Albany, and Barbara Ann McFarland of Texas; two sons, Sammy Lee Davis and Theron King, both of Albany; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Dawson Owens
ALBANY - Dawson "D" Owens, 75, of 5411 Old Dawson Road, died Wednesday evening, October 2, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Thad Haygood will officiate.
"D" Owens was an Albany native and became the first twin born at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital on October 17, 1926. He was the owner of Allen Owens Company for many years and was a certified real estate appraiser, consultant, real estate developer and broker. Mr. Owens graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.S. Degree in 1950, and was a member and past president of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity while at the University of Georgia. He was a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County and was recently honored for 50 years of perfect attendance. Mr. Owens was past president of the Albany Board of Realtors, Sons of the American Revolution, Albany Independent Insurance Association, Georgia Bulldog Club, University of Georgia Alumni Club, State of Georgia Safety Council, and Radium Country Club. He was recipient of the Alvin B. Cates Annual Award from the Georgia Association of Realtors for having made the most outstanding sales transaction in the state of Georgia.
Mr. Owens also had served as Chairman of the Board of Equalizers for Dougherty County, Vice Chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals, was listed in Who's Who in Georgia in 1973, and had served in many other capacities in other organizations. He also was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army in the Philippines.
Survivors include his wife, Jean N. Owens of Albany; five sons and daughters-in-law, Blanton "Dawson" and Kathi Owens of Atlanta, Cliff and Martha Owens of Albany, Chuck and Beth Owens of Albany, Ronnie and Betty Owens of Albany, Kevin and Regina Owens of Albany; daughter, Kathy Owens of Panama City, FL; 12 grandchildren, Ashley Owens, Dawson Owens III, Bryan Owens, Blake Owens, Jeremy Owens, Kristine Owens, Shannon Owens, Nowlin Owens, Erin Adcock, Daniel Adcock, Amanda Marie Register, and Kristin Janan Phillips; brother and sister-in-law, C. Inman and Lorene Owens of Albany; twin sister, Dorothy "Dot" Jackson of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Inman Owens and Eunice Tomlinson Owens.

Donnie Sasser
ALBANY - Donnie Sasser, 49, of Albany, GA, died Wednesday, October 2, 2002, in Panama City, FL.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Pastor Bill Sasser will officiate.
A native of Albany, Mr. Sasser graduated from Westover High School in 1971. He went on to attend Middle Georgia College on a baseball scholarship. He played baseball locally with the American Legion Post 30, and helped lead them to win the state tournament in 1970. In 1973, he started his professional baseball career with the San Francisco Giants where he stayed until 1981. He went on to play baseball with the Canadian League where he was also the manager. He later returned to Georgia Southwestern College in Americus where he not only received his masters degree in education, but also coached the baseball team and helped lead them to the conference title. He then came back to Albany and opened Sasser Mattress Factory and worked until he retired last year. He not only enjoyed baseball, but he was also an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Lee Culbreth Sasser of Albany; brother, Bill Sasser and his wife Lynn of Franklin, TN; father and mother-in-law, Hershell and Betty Culbreth of Albany; sister-in-law, Donna Elliott and her husband Mike of Albany; brother-in-law, Robert Culbreth and his wife Staci of Newnan, GA. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, William Woodrow Sasser and Margie Mae Sasser; two nephews, Tres Sasser and Kyle Elliott; three nieces, Hannah Culbreth, Sarah Culbreth and Mariah Elliott.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. today.

A native of Terrell County, Ms. Holt was born January 18, 1929. She was retired, and was a member of Countyline Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Wavine Thomas and Lula Jordan of Bronwood, and Annie R. Burress of San Diego, CA. One son preceded her in death, Ulysee Perkin. One brother, Robert Wimbush of Jacksonville, FL, 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; five aunts; six uncles; and three sons-in-law.

She attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. Lizzie was employed at Dawson Manor Nursing Home in the laundry department for a number of years until retirement.

He attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. He served in the United States Army for seven years where he fought in the Korean War. He was a peacetime veteran.

Ruth attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. She graduated in the class of 1967.
For several years in the greater Atlanta area, she was employed as a private nurse until her demise.

ALBANY - Clarence Lee (C.L.) Dollar, 90, of 104 N. Rosewood Drive, died Thursday, October 3, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held Monday, 2 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Chapel with interment to follow at Floral Memory Gardens. Pastor Chuck Smith officiating.
A native of Bainbridge, GA, Mr. Dollar had lived in Albany since 1942 and was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked civil service at Turner Field and for 35 years he was the owner and operator of Dollar Steel Erectors, Inc. until his retirement. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and vegetable gardener and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include seven sons, Bobby L. Dollar of Pelham, Jim Dollar of Alpharetta, GA, Charles L. Dollar of Albany, Robert M. Dollar of Albany, C.L. Dollar Jr. of Albany, Ronnie G. Dollar of Sasser and Johnny Dollar of Casa Grande, AZ; two daughters, Betty D. Kneece of Fayetteville, GA, and Joyce A. Dollar of Albany; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Dollar of Lamont, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Collie Mae Dollar.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Sunday from 2 PM to 4 PM.
