SYLVESTER - J.D. Lovett, 75, of 506 Oak Street, Sylvester, died Monday, October 14, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Northside Baptist Church with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. Dr. Danny Lovett and the Rev. Jerry Cooper will officiate.
A native of Worth County, Mr. Lovett had lived there most of his life. He was retired from the Sylvester Fire Department after 15 years and from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany after 25 years as a fireman. He was a member of Worth Lodge #194 F & AM having received his 25th year Pin. He was also a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Danny Lovett and wife, Susan of Forest, VA; daughter, Dreama Marie Lovett of Sylvester; sister, Hazel L. Johnson of Dothan, Ala.; five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrene Walls Lovett and parents, James Otis and Katie Willis Lovett.
The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Avis Driver Matthews
ALBANY - The graveside funeral service of Avis Driver Matthews, 89, of Magnolia Manor, formerly of Jekyll Island, who died Monday, October 14, 2002, in Americus will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Buchanan City Cemetery. Clark Stapler will officiate.
A native of Haralson County, GA, Mrs. Matthews had resided in Alto for sixteen years and had resided at Jekyll Island for twenty five years before moving to Americus. She received her B.S. in education from Oglethorpe University and her masters from Mercer University. Mrs. Matthews was a retired elementary and high school teacher in Haralson and Habersham counties, where she taught English for thirty five years.
She was the widow of Walter Matthews, attended Jekyll Island United Methodist Church and was a member of Christian Church of Cornelia.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Dee Matthews of Albany; a granddaughter and her husband, Vicki and Connie Couch of Marietta, GA; a grandson and his wife, Mike and JoAnne Matthews of Albany and three great-grandchildren, Melissa, Michael and Chandler.
The family will receive friends at the residence of Jimmy and Dee, 519 Meadowlark Drive, Albany, GA 31707.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, Dougherty-Lee Unit, 1507 N. Slappey Blvd., Albany, GA 31701 or to your favorite charity.

Martha Ann Jenkins Scott
ALBANY - Martha Ann Jenkins Scott, 56, formerly of Tifton, died Thursday, October 10, 2002, in Riverdale, Ga.
Ms. Scott was born May 31, 1946, in Albany, Ga. She graduated from Albany High School in 1964. She served in the U.S. Army in Fort Benning, Ga. She was a former lab employee at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her son, Micheal Lawrence Scott; daughter-in-law, Holly and grandchildren, Mickey and Morgan, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; parents, Ernest and Betty Jenkins Sr. of Albany, Ga.; brother, Ernest Jenkins Jr. (Mariann) of Georgetown, Ga.; sisters, Mary Christensen (Robert) of Albuquerque, N.M., Nancy Roberts (Reavis) of Albany, Ga.; five nieces and three nephews; two grandnieces and five grandnephews; numerous cousins and friends. The best a person could hope for.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Lakeside Baptist Church in Albany.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Scottish Rites Hospital in Atlanta, GA.

ALBANY - Charles Wiley (Chuck) Unruh, 40, of Albany, GA, died Sunday, October 13, 2002.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Hall & Hall Funeral Home with Chaplain Roger Richards officiating. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery.
Mr. Unruh was a native of Bethesda, MD, and had lived in Albany most of his life. He was an electrician and had served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his father and mother, Howard L. and Martha L. Unruh of Albany; sons, David Charles Unruh and Daniel Lyle Unruh of Social Circle, GA; brothers, Carlton Lee Unruh of Albany and Eugene Earl Unruh of Whittier, CA; sister, Alicia Darlene Riley of Leesburg; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A native of Ozark, Ala., Mrs. Horn was a homemaker. She was a member of 4th Street Baptist Church and attended First Assembly of God.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Luvena Horn of Ashburn and Bill Horn of Tifton; three sisters, Dorothy Walker of Eufaula, Ala., Etta Bottoms of Houston, Texas, and Myrle Brown of Sampson, Ala.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, April and Mike Coker of Ashburn; great-granddaughters, Micheal, Clara Grace and Christian Anna Coker of Ashburn; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Horn; parents, Sam and Donnie Paramore Simmons and two brothers, Percy and Tharrel Simmons.

Victor A. Jacques
SWANTON, Vt. - Victor A. Jacques, 66, of Franklin County, VT, passed away unexpectedly at his home. He was born in St. Albans, VT, on October 9, 1936, the son of the late Albert F. and Bernadette (Santor) Jacques. Mr. Jacques had lived in Putney, GA, for 12 years.
Victor was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and upon his discharge became a member of the Vermont Army National Guard. For many years, he was employed as a pipefitter with Johnson Controls and retired from A. Cooper & Sons. He was a member of the St. Albans Elks Lodge #1566 and the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, Local 693. Victor had great enjoyment in hunting, fishing and woodworking and riding on his Harley and in his jeep.
Survivors include his children, Becky Benson and her husband, Albert of St. Albans, Mike Jacques and his wife, Tina of Warner Robins, GA, Chris Jacques and his wife, Lisa of Sylvester, GA, Cathy Jackson and her husband, Ralph of Albany, GA, and Carrie Jacques of Essex; his sisters, Madeline Cantell of St. Albans and Gloria Norcross and her husband, Ken of Fairfax; his brothers, Bernard Jacques and his wife, Rosalie of St. Albans, Francis Jacques and his wife, Jane of Zephyrhills, FL, Henry Jacques of Burlington and Paul Jacques and his wife, Sue of Alburg; his grandchildren, Claire and Clifton Jacques of Warner Robins, GA, Danielle, Rachel, Karen, Phillip and Nathan Jacques, all of Sylvester, GA, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his boxer, Yukon.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Maurice J. Roy officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

ASHBURN - Funeral services for Ina Belle Weaver Brown, 92, of Baptist Village, Waycross, GA, will beheld Friday at 11 a.m. at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sycamore, GA. Mrs. Brown died Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at Baptist Village following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Brown was born in Berrien County, GA, and had been a resident of Sycamore for many years before moving to Baptist Village 13 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Issac Leo and Lilly Estelle Carter Weaver. She was a member of Ashburn First Baptist Church and was the widow of Thomas E. Brown Sr. who died April 6, 1988.
Survivors include her son, Thomas E. Brown Jr. of Ashburn; daughters, Mary Alice Dowdy of Valdosta and Martha Anne McCard of Warwick; brother, Leo Weaver of Valdosta; sister, Vera Sirmans of Barney; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
