David Thomas Egberts
ALBANY - David "Dave" Thomas Egberts, 48, of Albany, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2002.
His funeral service will be Tuesday noon at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service.
A native of Morristown, NJ, Dave grew up in Sarasota, FL, and had lived in Albany for the past 20 years. Mr. Egberts received an associate degree in forestry and was employed with St. Joe Paper Co. for 15 years. Following that, he was self-employed in forestry for five years. Dave enjoyed the peace and comfort of the woods, and in the course of his job, he took pride in the beauty of nature. He loved hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting and collecting. He was devoted to the Florida Gators. He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Egberts.
Dave is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kelli Ann; his daughter, Haili Ann; his son, Thomas David; his loving mother, Frances Meyer and stepfather, Al Meyer, of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, John Egberts of Gainesville, FL, and Bill Egberts of Lakeland, FL; two sisters, Joanne Barker of Sarasota, and Susan Egberts of Corona, CA; nephews and nieces, Johnny, Robbie, Kitty, Ryan, Mya, Tyler Jared and Susanna. He is also survived by his best friends, Brad Bush, Dan, Kenny and Patrick Fraley, Roy "Buddy" White and Sigi Villalta. We'll miss you Bro!
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Monday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Katie Belle Taylor Solomon
ALBANY - The graveside service of Katie Belle Taylor Solomon, 90, of 912 Rosedale Ave., who died Friday, November 1, 2002, will be conducted today (Sunday) at 2 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery, Meigs, GA, the Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Thomas County, GA, Mrs. Solomon had lived in Albany since 1966. She was a retired ticket agent with the Trailways Bus Lines and a member of the Retired Trailways Employee Association. Mrs. Solomon was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Camilla and attended First Baptist Church of Albany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Henry Solomon, parents, James Bryan and Miriam Sherman Taylor, sister, Leila Taylor Gordon and brother, James Thomas Taylor.
Survivors include, sons, Joe H. Solomon of Albany, Julius W. Williams of Gainesville, and Charles H. (Ducky) Williams of Cairo; a daughter, Evelyn M. Williams Olschner of Jacksonville, FL; and eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

ASHBURN - Olivi Estelle Rogers Wood, 81, 1242 Joe Sumner Road, Ashburn in Worth County, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held today (Sunday), 4 p.m. at Banks Funeral Chapel, with the Revs. Ronnie Howell, Ray Bittner and Tom Sattler officiating. Interment will follow service in Clements Chapel Cemetery in Turner County.
Born on January 23, 1921 in White Springs, FL, Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late Walter Capus Rogers and Betty Jane Huggins Rogers. She had lived in Worth County most of her life. She was formerly employed at Sylvester Textile, Georgia Agrirama in Tifton and the Worth Adult Literacy Program. She was an election poll volunteer, a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Tifton, a member of AARP and a member of Clements Chapel United Methodist Church in Turner County.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Eva Jane and Raymond Howell of Ty Ty, Pat and Dan Miller of Worth County and Betty Juanice (Betzi) Wood of Macon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph Eldon and Nelta Wood of Jonesboro, Hubert and Barbara Wood of Tifton and Marvin and Susan Wood of Dahlonega; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Leroy "Eugenie" Rogers of Tifton and Mrs. Walter C."Pauline" Rogers Jr. of Worth County; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

CAMILLA - Winifred Glover, 72, of Camilla died Saturday, November 2, 2002 at Mitchell Convalescent Center in Camilla.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home, with burial in Branchville Methodist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Lynn Roberts will officiate.
Born July 22, 1930 in Early County, Mrs. Glover was a seamstress. She was a member of Branchville Methodist Church. Mrs. Glover was the daughter of the late Julius Loyless. She was preceded in death by her sister, Julia Loyless and a granddaughter, Summer Gleaton.
Survivors include her husband, James Glover of Camilla; two sons, Jimmy Gleaton, and his wife, Janice, of Forsythe and Phillip Gleaton, and his wife, Deborah, of Bainbridge; a stepson, Ken Glover of Camilla; her mother, Freddie Mae Whitcomb of Camilla; two sisters, Jackie Terrell of Waynesville, NC, and Wynette Thomas of Dothan, AL; an aunt, Lou Temples of Albany; and 11 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. today (Sunday) at the funeral home.

Eva Day Hutto
CAMILLA - Eva Day Hutto, 88, of 9675 Mount Olive Road, Camilla, died Friday, November 1, 2002 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today (Sunday) at Hopeful Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Revs. S.E. Newberry and C.B. Dowdney will officiate.
Pallbearers include Stanley Hutto, Ronnie Hutto, Roger Darley, Earnest Flournoy, Rodney Wisham and Ed Hutto.
Born January 25, 1914 in Decatur County, Mrs. Hutto was a homemaker. She was a member of Greenwood Freewill Baptist Church for over 50 years. Mrs. Hutto was married to the late Boyd Hutto and was the daughter of the late Tom R. and Maude Emma Pomeroy Day.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Hutto and his wife, Dorothy, of Pelham, Jerome Hutto, and his wife, Carol, of Cary, NC, and Carroll Hutto of Camilla; two daughters, Shirley Singleton, and her husband, Jake, of Camilla and Lautry Ann Hutto of Duluth; a brother, Lawrence Day of Chiefland, FL; a sister, Ruth Hutto of Plant City, FL; and seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

James Wesley Lemacks
CAMILLA - James W. Lemacks, 89, of Camilla, died Friday, November 1, 2002, at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home, with burial in Cool Springs Church Cemetery in Sale City.
Born January 16, 1913 in Mitchell County, Mr. Lemacks was a retired truck driver. He was married to the late Eula M. Cannon Lemacks and was the son of the late John Wesley and Susan Vesta Lemacks.
Survivors include two daughters, Delois Hall, and her husband, Jim, of Jacksonville, FL, and Betty Rowell of Marietta; a son, Billy Lemacks, and his wife, Anne, of Winter Haven, FL; a brother, William J. "Bill" Lemacks of Camilla; four sisters, Ruth Grogan of Camilla, Ruby Lemacks and Ethel Wingate, both of Pelham, and Lorene Hatcher of Albany; and 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today (Sunday) from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Herbert Henry Applewhite Jr.
LEESBURG - The funeral service of Herbert Henry Applewhite Jr., 74, of 224 Nesbitt Road, Leesburg, who died Saturday, November 2, 2002, will be conducted Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home, with full military honors. Johnny Farr will officiate.
A native of Live Oak, FL, Mr. Applewhite had lived in Leesburg since 1968. He was retired from the U.S. Navy serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He also retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, and employed with Covington Planter Company. Mr. Applewhite was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and a member of Naval Fleet Reserve.
Survivors include a son, Thomas H. Applewhite of Montgomery, AL; three daughters, Charlene A. Vierra of Baton Rouge, LA, Carol A. Roberts of Leesburg, GA, and Karen A. Comer of Baconton; two sisters, Elmer A. Shiver of Tallahassee, FL, and Wanell Plymel of Perry, FL; and nine grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday after the funeral service at the funeral home.

ALBANY - Nell S. Barber, 81, of 1532 Broach Ave., died Sunday, November 3, 2002.
The funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Charlie Rouse will officiate.
A native of Doerun, GA, Mrs. Barber had resided in Albany 41 years. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob S."Jack" Barber and a daughter, Donna Leigh Usher.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Cook and her husband, Melvin of Albany, Kay Schwegler and her husband, Len, of Loganville, three brothers, Frank Salter of St. Cloud, FL, Jerry Salter of Orlando, FL, and Larry Salter of Apopka, FL; a sister, Jeanette Robison of Doles, GA; six grandchildren, Andrew Schwegler, Jennifer Schwegler, both of Loganville, Shannon De Reus, and Kimberly Mathis, both of Leesburg, William A. Usher of Albany and Elizabeth Usher of Lillburn, GA; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Grace Mathis of Leesburg, Eylssa Usher and Jarren Wright, both of Lillburn.

ALBANY - Johnnie J. Harrison, 81, died Saturday, November 2, 2002, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home in Americus, GA.
Funeral service today (Monday) 11 a.m. at Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel, Pastor Bill Behrend officiating.
A native of Hamilton, AL, Mrs. Harrison was a retired newspaper carrier with the Albany Herald. She was a member of the Lutheran Church here in Albany.
Survivors include two brothers, Billy Jackson of Albany and Ernie Jackson of Rockford, IL; a sister, Clara Tyra of Hamilton, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

GREENHEAD, FL - Caroline Elizabeth Griffin Whitfield, 56, of Greenhead, FL, passed away Friday, November 1, 2002, at a local hospital.
She was a resident of Washington County, Florida for the past 32 years. Mrs. Whitfield was a member of Calvary Hill Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her husband, Warren C. Whitfield of Greenhead, FL; two daughters, Rebecca Danford and her husband, John, of Dothan, AL, and Dawn Kirkland and her husband, Mike, of Vernon, FL; four sons, Tommy Hampton and his wife, Raelene of Orlando, FL, Charles A. Thomason and his wife, Kimberly, of Vernon, FL, Dickie Whitfield of Port St. Joe, FL, and Darrell Whitfield of Moline, IL; one sister, Patricia Bagley of Demarest; four brothers, Eddie Griffin and Owen Griffin, both of Albany, Willie Griffin of Macon, and Richard Griffin of Leesburg; and 10 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous Brothers and Sisters of her church.
Funeral services will be held, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Calvary Hill Pentecostal Church in Vernon, FL, with Pastor Tim Bush officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at the Pleasant Rest Cemetery in Overstreet, FL.
Asked to serve as active pallbearers are Charles Thomason, Tommy Hampton, Rodney Whitfield, Johnny Walsingham, Gerald Gilmore, and Stephen Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will include Tyler Hampton, Robert Chudzik, and Austin Thomason.

CUTHBERT - Ronie Mae Johnson Arnold, 93, of Cuthbert died Saturday, November 2, 2002, at the Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert. The graveside funeral service will be conducted today (Monday) at 3 p.m. in the Brooksville Cemetery in Randolph County. The Rev. Floyd Hipp will officiate.
Mrs. Arnold was born January 1, 1909, in Randolph county, daughter of the late James Monroe Johnson and Eula Sauls Johnson. She was a retired clerical worker and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Arnold Parham of Brooksville, and a sister, Ruth Glass of Cuthbert.
