Curtis T. Johnson
SNELLVILLE - Curtis T. Johnson, 53, of Snellville died Sunday, November 24, 2002.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Toby Lane of Marietta; son, Daniel Johnson of Atlanta; brother, David L. Johnson of Columbia, MO; four nieces and nephews.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Tasker and Frances Johnson and brother, Carlton Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was owner of Southern Risk Managers Inc. and associated with W.S. Pharr & Company. He was a member of Snellville United Methodist Church, a graduate of the University of Georgia and an Eagle Scout.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Snellville United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fort Valley.
The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, 6500 Sugarloaf Parkway, Suite 260, Duluth, GA 30097 in memory of Curtis T. Johnson.

Lawrence Allen Kerce
CAMILLA - Lawrence A. Kerce, 57, of 7194 Hwy. 93, Hinsonton, died Sunday, November 24, 2002, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at The Cotton Assembly Church with burial in Pinecrest Memory Gardens.
Born September 12, 1945, in Mitchell County, Mr. Kerce was a farmer and a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Merck & Co. of Albany after 21 years of service. Mr. Kerce was the son of the late Thomas James Kerce.
Survivors include three daughters, Joanna Kerce Rice and husband, Joe, of Delray Beach, FL, Deborah Phelps Ahmad and husband Eyad, of Cartersville, and Dianna P. Anderson of Gainesville; his mother, Lillie Mae Kerce of Colquitt; five sisters, Lillian Madden of Bowden, Inez Thigpen of Pavo, Pauline Lampkin of Thomasville, Jeanette Cox and husband, Richard, of Pelham, and Christine Wallace of Colquitt; two brothers, Preston Kerce and wife, Kathy, of Hinsonton, and Johnny Kerce and wife, Robyn, of Camilla.

Harriet Newsome Morris
CORDELE - Harriet Newsome Morris, 82, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2002, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Morris was a native of Crisp County and had lived in Wilcox County for the past 48 years. She was the daughter of the late Ben Newsome and Mary Moreland Newsome. She attended Crisp County schools and Artistic School of Cosmetology in Atlanta. She was a member of the Hatley United Methodist Church. After the death of her husband, A.S. "Bud" Morris, Mrs. Morris managed the family farm from 1970 until her retirement in 1995. A son, Paul Morris, and a brother, Jelks P. Newsome, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Arthur Ben (Marcia) Morris of Cordele, Louise M. (Ken) Gray of Woodbridge, VA, Betty M. (Cecil) Ethridge of Macon, and R. Wesley (Rosalyn) Morris of Dublin; two brothers, Joe Newsome of Fayetteville, GA, and Alee E. Newsome of Cordele; one sister, Carolyn N. Hockenberry of Nemacolin, PA. Grandchildren include Chris Morris of Stephens, GA, Georgia Gray of Apex, NC, Kim Morris of Cordele, Peyton Ethridge of Macon, and Drew Morris of Dublin as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family may be contacted at the home of Ben and Marcia Morris, 1083 Hwy. 300 South. Contributions may be made to the Hatley United Methodist Church, c/o Sara Ann Christmas, 1390 Hatley Road, Cordele, GA 31015 or to Crisp Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 5007, Cordele, GA 31015.

Mrs. Farris was a native and lifelong resident of Shellman.

A native and lifelong resident of Mitchell Co., GA, Mrs. Gantt was a homemaker and a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Gantt McDonald of Albany, GA; two grandchildren, Sherrie Phillips and Dena D'Abarno and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Phillips and Bethany Phillips.

ALBANY - The funeral service of Oliver "Gene" Norris, 75, of 119 Cedric Street, Lee County, who died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, will be conducted Saturday, November 16, 2002, at 11 a.m., at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Calvin King will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Miller County, GA, Mr. Norris had lived in Lee County since 1963. He was a retired postal worker. Mr. Norris was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Holley Norris.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandi Hancock of Lee County and Lani Bruner of Albany; two sons, Kenneth Norris of Lee County and Marty Norris of Worth County; a sister, Susie Lee Storey of Lee County; four grandchildren, Kimberley Craton of Dallas, GA, Geoffrey Gonzalez of Lee County, Kalia Bruner of Albany, and Justin Norris of Worth County; two great grandsons, Trent and Troy Craton, both of Dallas, GA.

Durward Pennington Sr.
ALBANY - Durward Pennington Sr., 89, of 2724 Ledo Road, Albany, GA, died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following a brief illness in Albany.
The funeral service will be today, 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA. The Rev. Bill Eidenire will officiate.
A native of Macon County, he had lived in Albany for the past 65 years and was retired civil service. Mr. Pennington worked with the Albany Police Department for 11 years, reaching the rank of captain. Mr. Pennington was the former owner and operator of Pennington Ambulance Service and was a member of American Legion Post #30. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Davenport Pennington and his son, Jackie Pennington.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Becky P. and Tom Knight of Leesburg, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Durward Pennington Jr. and wife, Betsy of Gainesville, GA; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - The funeral service of Lt. Col. Donald E. Sink (USAF Ret.), 80, of 1923 Buck Lane, who died Monday, November 11, 2002, will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. Michael Gravette and the Rev. Ray Bowman will officiate. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Ochlocknee City Cemetery.
A native of Pebble County, Ohio, Mr. Sink had resided in Albany for many years, moving here from Texas. He graduated from high school in Ochlocknee and attended both Susquahanna University and Indiana University. Mr. Sink retired from the USAF in 1971, after 26 years of service. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, the National Officers Association, NCCA, DAV, TROA, and the Retired Officers Association. Mr. Sink was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Robinson Sink.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carol Sink of Duncanville, TX; two brothers, Joe Sink of Sparta, TN, and William Sink of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Marilyn Whitamore of Ellenton, FL, and Virginia Leib of Coca, FL; a sister-in-law, Alpha Sink of Albany; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myrtle and Robert Roberson, both of Ochlocknee; and two grandchildren, Adam Sink and Kim Myers.

ALBANY - The funeral service of Charles E. Smith, 86, of 308 Collins Street who died Monday, November 11, 2002, will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Marshall will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Luverne, AL, Mr. Smith had lived in Albany since 1940. He was retired longtime manager at Bennett's Feed and Seed and a member of the Albany Gospel Chapel. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Spring Smith of Albany; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Norma Smith of Albany; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Dave Reed of Albany; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Diane and Tony LaSalle, Debbie and Danny Willoughly all of Albany, and Patricia Pollock, of Isabella. A stepson, Phil Spring of Albany; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren and 17 step great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Liberty Assembly of God Church in Cedar Springs with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Arnold Sanders will officiate.
A native of Barbour County, Ala., Mrs. Toller had lived in Sylvester since 1998 moving here from Alabama. She was a spinner for Avondale, Flint River and T & S Mills for over 40 years. She was a member of Emanuel Holiness Church in Eufaula, Ala.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Bobby McGough of Sylvester and Marie and Daniel Hicks of Phenix City, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law, George L. and Jennelle Toller of Eufaula, Ala.; three sisters, Willie Strickland of Blakely, Ila Story of Eufaula, Ala., and Georgia Johanesen of Sandy, Ore.; three brothers, Huey Gulledge of Abbeville, Ala., John D. Gulledge of Dothan, Ala., and Billy Ray Gulledge of Enterprise, Ala.; six grandchildren, Ray Toller, Bonnie Walker, Joy Brown, Todd McGough, Amy Hicks and Tyler Hicks; six great-grandchildren, Emily Toller, Megan Toller, Cassidy Walker, A.J. Walker, Gunder Brown and Boulder Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis L. (Buck) Toller and parents, George and Mary Danford Gulledge.
