ALBANY - Arthur Lee Jones Sr., 76, of 3319 Sweetbriar Rd. died Thursday, January 5, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2006, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Sylvester with the Rev. Lester Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Shepard Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
A native of Putney, Mr. Jones was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He served in the Korean Conflict and three tours during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged after 26 years of service in 1979.
Survivors include two sons, Reginald (Deborah) Jones and Arthur Lee (Nicole) Jones Jr., both of Albany; five stepchildren, Glenda Cade of Birmingham, AL, Linda Mays of Columbus and Donnie Williams of Atlanta, Robert (Denise) Gibson of Charlotte, NC, and Ronnie (Elaine) Gibson of Albany; two brothers, Jimmie Jones and Nathaniel Jones of Putney; one sister, Elaine (Alvin) Lester of Hinesville; four aunts, Clarabelle Devon, Janie Thomas and Claudia Jones, all of Albany, and Annie Bell Jones of Dawson; six grandchildren, Reginald Jr., David, Roderick, Arthur III, Reginauld, Alissa and cousin/ caregiver, Bernice and Thomas Isaac of Albany.

Bertha McMath Brim
DAWSON - Bertha McMath Brim, 99, of Sasser died on January 9, 2006, at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2006, at Harvey Funeral Chapel with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany.
Mrs. Brim was a native of Sumter County, born April 21, 1906, daughter of the late John Franklin McMath and Ada Denson Arrington McMath. She had been a resident of Sasser since 1948 and was the widow of Willard Eugene Brim.
She was an elementary school teacher with the Dougherty and Terrell County School Systems, retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Ret. Teachers Assn., both Georgia, national and local, a member of the Sasser Baptist Church, the WMU, she taught Sunday School, was pianist and served as clerk of the church until she retired in 1990.
Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, including Edith W. Bobe of Pensacola, FL, and Horace M. Walters of Colorado Springs, CO; several great-nieces and nephews and a number of great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday before the funeral service.

ALBANY - Edwin Preston Duke, 76, of Albany, died Friday morning, March 14, 2003, at his residence following protracted illness.
The funeral service will be at 4 PM Sunday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan, GA. Dr. Walter Burgess will officiate.
A native of Newnan, Mr. Duke had lived in Albany since 1961, and was retired from Southern Bell. Mr. Duke also served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jewell Duke of Albany; children, Barbara Player of Marietta, GA, Jon Duke of Madison, GA, and Dennis Duke of Albany; six grandchildren, Nicholas Black, Christopher Black, Nina Peskiris, Holly Duke, Ethan Duke and Nathan Duke; brother, John G. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Live Oak Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Baker County with the Rev. Paul Irvin officiating.
A native of Baker County, Mrs. Johnson had lived in Leesburg for several years. She was a member of Live Oak Freewill Baptist Church in Baker County and was a homemaker. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Smiley Crawford Johnson, and a brother, Cecil Duke.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha G. Sellers of Albany; granddaughter, Glenda Gibson; two great-granddaughters, Jennifer Lee and Brooke Bennett; one brother, Roy Duke of Arlington.

BARNESVILLE - Lloyd Vernon Bankston of Moultrie passed away at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Son of the late Franklin Askins Bankston and the late Ezra Ann Porch Bankston, Mr. Bankston was a Baptist and retired from the aerospace industry.
Survivors include daughters, Leslie Verne Bankston of Bonney Lake, Wash., Madison Bankston of Salem, Mass., Louise Marie Calderan of Baltimore, Maryland; sons, Glen Bankston of Moultrie, Paul Edward Bankston of Atlanta; brother, Benjamin Flournoy Bankston of Huntsville, Ala.; close friend, Anne Knoede of Moultrie.
Funeral services for Mr. Bankston will be conducted Sunday, March 16, at 1 p.m. in the Fredonia Church in Barnesville, GA. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Shellman, GA, Mrs. Bird was a salesperson with Waffle House for 32 years.
