ALBANY - The funeral service of Mary Lynn Vocino, 76, of 2512 Westgate Drive #7, Albany, who died Thursday, January 12, 2006, at her residence, will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Tony Haefs will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date at Doyle Memorial in Arneytown, NJ.
A native of Colquitt County, GA, Mrs. Vocino had resided in Albany since 2000 moving from Hamilton Square, NJ. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Vocino was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Lou Vocino.
Survivors include her son, Joe Vocino and his wife, Wendy of Haddon Heights, NJ; a daughter, Claudia Vocino Landau and her husband, Rick of Ann Arbor, MI; three sisters, Lavonia King Cook and Wynelle King O'Hair and her husband, Royce, all of Albany, and Delores King Ledbetter and her husband, Loye of Dawsonville, GA; brother, Harley E. King and his wife, Jean of Dallas, GA; and four granddaughters, Emily Landau, Alison Landau, Molly Vocino and Emily Rose Vasile.
She was very much loved by her family.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Martha Elizabeth McKemie
CUTHBERT - Martha Elizabeth McKemie, DeKalb County resident died January 12, 2006, at Fountainview Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2006, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Clay County, with interment in the church cemetery.
A memorial service will be held later at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church.
A native of Clay County, she was born July 15, 1912, the last surviving child of Gertrude Arnold and William Johnston McKemie. She was preceded in death by siblings, Henry G. McKemie of Fort Gaines, Dr. C.R. McKemie of Albany, W.J. McKemie Jr. of Coleman, Dr. H.M. McKemie of Albany and Mrs. J.T. Hammack of Edison.
Miss McKemie taught at Coleman in the Randolph County School System from 1935 to 1937 and taught 5th grade in Edison, Calhoun County from 1937 to 1942.
She graduated from Andrew College in 1931 and the University of Georgia in 1935. She was employed by the State Department of Education in Atlanta from 1943 to 1945 when, upon her father's death, she returned home to attend her mother and assist with the family farm. During this period, she also operated a florist and flower business. Miss McKemie returned to employment with the State Department of Education in 1956 until her retirement.
Miss McKemie was a member of Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. Affectionately known in large, extended family as "Link", she had fifteen nieces and nephews and thirty seven great-nieces and nephews.

ALBANY - Mary B. Rhodes, 94, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Lee County Health Care.
Her funeral service will be Monday 11 AM at Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Sam Hartline officiating.
A native of Worth County, Mrs. Rhodes had resided most of her life in Albany. She was a former resident of 9th Ave. and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Rhodes was retired from Belk's Department Store working in the China Department for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. Rhodes and a daughter, Ophelia Carmichael.
Survivors include her sons, Curt Rhodes and his wife, Pat of Albany, Warren Rhodes and his wife, Mary of Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillie Bell McLemore of Albany.
The family will receive friends Sunday 3 PM to 5 PM at Kimbrell-Stern and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Rhodes, 1815 Pineknoll Lane.

Weldon Wallace Bowen
SYLVESTER - Weldon Wallace Bowen, 58, of Sylvester, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Kimball United Methodist Church, with burial in Kimball Cemetery. The Rev. Gene Sheffield officiating.
Born in Worth County, on November 16, 1947, Mr. Bowen was former assistant manager with Fork Lifts Plus in Albany. He has lived in Worth County all of his life. He was an Army Veteran of Vietnam with special weapons training who received a Purple Heart. Mr. and Mrs. Bowen would have celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary on February 22, 2006. Mr. Bowen was an avid golfer, who enjoyed listening to the Oldie but Goldies music. He attended Kimball United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Sumner Bowen of Sylvester; three sons, Weldon Brian Bowen and his wife, Mazie of Athens, Bradley Jack Bowen and his wife, Tracey, and Jeffrey Wade Bowen, all of Sylvester; his parents, Wallace and Joyce Dorminy Bowen of Poulan; two brothers, Johnny Bowen of Newnen, and Barry Bowen and his wife, Peggy of Sylvester; a sister, Gail B. Carlton and her husband, Bill of Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren, Hank Bowen, Daylon Bowen and Dakotah Kunselman; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.

Antonio Frisone
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. -Antonio Frisone, formerly of Albany, died on January 4, 2006, at Saddleback Memorial Hospital, Laguna Hills, CA. His remains are to be buried at Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery in Flushing, NY.
Mr. Frisone was a native of Genoa, Italy, born on September 12, 1916, son of the late Giuseppe Frisone and Rosa Manfre' Frisone. He had been a resident of Albany from 1978 through 2003. He was the widower of Jennie Inguanti Frisone and father of the late Daniel John Frisone.
He emigrated to the United States in 1936, joined the United States Navy in 1942. He became a naturalized citizen in 1946. He enjoyed a successful career as a waiter in some of New York City's most elite restaurants and night clubs. He retired in 1978. He was a member of Saint Teresa's Roman Catholic Church, Albany and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Yvonne Frisone of Albany; granddaughter, Loralea Burke and her husband, Roger Guy Burke of Los Molinas, CA; a great-granddaughter, Angelina Burke; and a sister-in-law, Palma Inquanti of Bayside, NY.
A Mass will be held at Saint Teresa's Roman Catholic Church, Albany on April 3, 2006, at 8:30 a.m.

Allen Jackson Jr.
ALBANY - Allen Jackson Jr., 62, of 918 Crawford Drive, who died on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2006 at Saint Maryland Baptist Church in Leary, with the Rev. James Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Dougherty County, Mr. Jackson was a graduate of H.T. Singleton High School and a member of Saint Maryland Baptist Church. He retired from the Steubenville Housing Authority.
Survivors include his mother, Vearlie Mae Culbreth of Albany; his daughter, Ebony Jackson of Albany; two sisters, Joyce (Charles) Jenkins and Jean (Melvin) Quimbly, both of Albany; four brothers, Phil (Juanita) Jackson of Dale City, VA, Glover (Anne) Jackson of Steubenville, Ohio, Paul Jackson and Robert (Flora) Jackson of Albany; two uncles, James Solomon of Albany, and Willie Joe Solomon of Rochester, NY; and four grandchildren.

Geraldine Brazel Kierce
ALBANY - The funeral service of Geraldine Brazel Kierce, 75, of 1209 Waddell Ave., who died Friday, January 13, 2006 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Monday, January 16, 2006 at 3 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. Ronald R. Baxley and the Rev. Melvin Moody will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Holmes County, FL, Mrs. Kierce had resided in Albany for the past 55 years. She was retired from MacGregor Golf and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Kierce of Albany; a son, Tony Kierce of Griffin; a daughter, Lawana Kierce Frey and her husband Tom of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Ami Screen, Brandon Kierce, Lacy Frazier and Matt Kierce; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cortnie, Nathan and Kierce.
The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Antoinette Kniskern Lundy
ALBANY - Antoinette (Toni) Kniskern Lundy, 81, died Friday, January 13, 2006 at her home in Albany.
Mrs. Lundy was born in Denver, Colorado, daughter of the late John Pollock and Lucienne Le Fraper Kniskern. She was the widow of W.H. (Bully) Lundy.
She was a retired fashion consultant for Doncaster, Inc., maker of women's fashions. She was a charter member of the Town and Country Garden Club, past-president of Albany Junior League, a communicant of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and a member of St. Cecilia's Chapter at her church.
Mrs. Lundy led an interesting life. She was educated at schools in Hinsdale, Illinois, Edinburgh, Scotland and was a graduate of Sacred Heart School in Tunis, Tunisia. Her family was living in Tunisia when World War II started, and she was employed by the American Expeditionary Forces in North Africa, serving as an interpreter on the staff of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. It was during this time that she met her husband, "Bully" Lundy, who was serving in the U.S. Navy.
Mrs. Lundy was a devoted mother and talented homemaker. She loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess as well as an accomplished cook and gardner. She was an avid traveler and there were few areas of the world that she had not visited. She maintained ties with and often visited relatives in Europe.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two daughters, Karen Lundy and Jan Lundy Gossett.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Mike Gecewich of South Sioux City, Nebraska; a brother, Peter Marshall Kniskern of Washington, D.C.; two grandchildren, Meghann and Matthew Gossett of Athens; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J.H. (Neil) Moore, Leroy and Ann Wilkerson of Sylvester; a number of nephews and nieces, and members of her extended family in France and Switzerland.
The remains have been cremated, and plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Albany Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
