This company was ordered into Camp of Instruction August 1861, by 
Colonel John B. Campbell, but he, having failed to raise his regiment,
they were mustered into Confederate service as Wright's Legion October
1, 1861.
This company was also known as Old Co. A, New Co. D, and Co. M. It was
originally called "McLeod Artillery," later "Ben Hill Guards." It was 
detached from Wright's Legion May 6, 1864. F, 4th Regiment Ga. Inf. 
April 29, 1861. Appointed 2d Sergeant of Co. C, 38th Regiment Ga. Inf.
May 1863; 1st Sergeant August 1863. Surrendered at Appomattox, Va. 
April 9, 1865.
