He was retired from the marketing Department of Sears, Roebuck and Co. after 30 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War Two, Mr. Lane was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, and Hogansville Masonic Lodge #93. He was a Shriner and a York Rite Mason. Born Oct. 18, 1915 in Randolph County, Ala., Mr. Smallwood was the son of the late A.T. and Bernice Bishop Smallwood. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Uniroyal Inc. Born June 19, 1928 in Moore Haven, Fla., Mrs. Thielen served in the Merchant Marines in World War Two and retired as an electrician with Mobil Chemical Corp. after 35 years. Mr. Charles Glenn Griffies
Mr. Charles Glenn Griffies, 74, of Grantville died Nov. 16, 1997 at Columbia Peachtree Regional Hospital in Newnan. Born Feb. 1, 1923 in Carroll County, Mr. Griffies was the son of the late Glenn and Maggie Neely Griffies. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was retired from Complete Auto Transit after 28 years. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War Two, Mr. Griffies was a member of Bigham Masonic Lodge #53. A service will be held Nov. 19 at Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Spence and the Rev. Mike Holdredge officiating. Interment will follow at Grantville Cemetery. Mrs. Barbara Fifield Morriss
Mrs. Barbara Fifield Morriss, 66, of Newnan died Nov. 9, 1997. Born April, 18, 1931, Mrs. Morriss was the daughter of the late Dr. Walter Walworth Fifield and Ruth Walker Fifield. She was the owner and main teacher of piano at Prelude Studios Mrs. Morriss was affiliated with Hollywood Presbyterian Church in Hollywood, Calif., Granada Hills Methodist Church in Granada Hills, Calif. and First Christian Church in Bellvue, Wash. She was a member of the Newnan-Coweta Historical Society and the College-Temple Historic District Association. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, with Lee Ayers officiating. Mrs. Clara Kelley Cottle, 90, of Arnco died Nov. 16, 1997, at Newnan Hospital. Born Oct. 7, 1907 in Heard County, Mrs. Cottle was a retired textile worker and a member of Arnco Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Cottle, and a son, Larry Wendell Cottle. A service was held Nov. 17 at McKoon Funeral Home, with the Rev. Travis Eidson officiating. Mrs. Mildred Williams Elkins, 87, of Hull, formerly of Newnan, died Nov. 20, 1997, in Athens. Born May 26, 1910 in Fayette County, Mrs. Elkins was the daughter of the late Barton and Dollie Slaton Williams. She was a seamstress and a member of Central Baptist Church. Born July 30, 1926 in Coweta County, Mrs. Hardy was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Luther T. (Idella Jeanette Arnold) Smith and the wife of the late Berry Hardy Sr. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. A service was held Thursday at Sellers-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. R.T.
