Mrs. Howard was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Shawmutt, Ala., daughter of the late William Cullen Green and the late Katie Middlebrooks Green. She lived at Hogansville most of her life. Born Aug. 1, 1921 in Forsyth, Ga., Mrs. Jansen was the daughter of the late Troy Sanders Martin and Neely Bell (Amerson) Martin. She was a resident of Macon and a graduate of Vashti College in Thomasville, Ga. A veteran, she served in the Army/Airforce. She worked as a sales representative for the Wall Street Journal and was employed by Dow Jones & Co. She was the widow of Ralph Lee Jansen. Services were held Monday at McCullough Funeral Home in Warner Robins, Ga. with the Rev. Sydney Odom officiating. Interment was in the Magnolia Park Cemetery in Warner Robins. Mrs. Geraldine (Deana) Kirkland
Mrs. Geraldine (Deana) Kirkland, 76, of Pearson, Ga., died Nov. 19, 1997, at Tift General Hospital in Tifton, Ga., following an extended illness. A native of Meriwether County, Mrs. Kirkland was born March 16, 1921, daughter of Walter C. and Pearl McCrary Turner. She had made her home in Montgomery, Ala., before moving to Pearson in 1970. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and a member of the First Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga. She was the widow of the late Dr. W. P. Kirkland Sr. Funeral services for Mrs. Kirkland were held the afternoon of Nov. 21 at the First Baptist Church in Pearson, Ga., with the Rev. Wes Thompson and the Rev. Bob Pierce officiating. Special music, "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden" were rendered as instrumentals by pianist Mary Ann Williams. Interment followed in the Antioch Cemetery. Born March 25, 1920, in Randolph County, Ala., Mr. Nolen was retired as a superintendent for the William L Bonnell Co. in Newnan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II.
