MR. POTTER
World War II veteran
COMMERCE - Harold Potter, 80, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Athens Regional Medial Center.
Mr. Potter was born March 29, 1921, in Coopertowns, N.Y. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and had worked as an inspector.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Gordon's Church cemetery, Commerce, with the Rev. Mike Crowe officiating.
Mr. Potter is survived by his wife, Beverly Potter, Commerce; six children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. WHITLOW
U.S. Air Force veteran
DECATUR - Charles "Slim" Whitlow, 57, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001.
Mr. Whitlow was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had been employed at Ansley Golf Club for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Horace and Evelyn Dunson Whitlow.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in the Stone Mountain Chapel of Wages & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Miriam Dunson officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Diane Whitlow, Fortson; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Bill Dobbs, Forsyth; five nieces, Jeri Chauta, Janice Williams, Lisa Gilbert, Crystal Lairsey and Jodi Whitlow; and one nephew, Jimmy Dobbs.
Wages & Sons Funeral Home, Stone Mountain, was in charge of arrangements.

Hoyt G. Booth
Hoyt Garland Booth, 100, of Hull, died Thursday, January 4, 2001.
Mr. Booth was born in Madison County, where he spent most of his life. He was a son of the late Jeremiah and Lola Addington Booth.
Mr. Booth was a farmer and carpenter/contractor and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was also a member of Woodman of the World, AARP and the Georgia Farm Bureau.
Mr. Booth was preceded in death by his wife, Nobie Jones Booth, and two daughters, Zelma Booth Scarbrough, Hull, and Frances Booth Brown, Miami, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery.
Survivors include daughter, Lorene Booth Forston, Hull, daughter and son-in-law, Agnes Booth Whitsel and Purcell Whitsel, Macon; grandchildren, George Robert Palmer, Crawford, Charles Michael Palmer, Athens, Eddie Scarbrough, Gwinnett County, Dr. Randi Whitsel Jones, Atlanta, Purcell Whitsel Jr., Macon, and Sandra Brown Izquierdo, Miami; great-grandchildren, Gregg Palmer, Athens, Darien Palmer, Atlanta, Dessaray Whitsel and John Whitsel, Macon, and Erin, Kevin and Laura Izquierdo, Miami; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Booth had been a resident of Athens Heritage for three years, where he will be missed by his many friends, family stated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rocking Chair Fund of Athens Heritage Resident Council.

Annie M. Hendricks
Mrs. Annie Maude Hendricks, 83, of Commerce, died Saturday, January 6, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Hendricks was a daughter of the late Obe and Emma Okelly Chandler, and the wife of the late Hoyt H. Hendricks.
She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and was retired from Westclock and Commerce Sports Wear.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Brad Wilson and Carlton Peters officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Lamar and Sharon Hendricks, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ricky Cochran, Commerce; brother, James Smith, Atlanta; sister, Mary Ruth Brock, East Point; and four grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Nettie M. Barnett
Mrs. Nettie Montine Brock Barnett, 89, of Nicholson, died Saturday, January 6, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Barnett was born May 10, 1911, in Franklin County, a daughter of the late William C. and Myrtle Gordon Brock.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Nicholson Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her husband, Jewette L. Barnett.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 8, at the Nicholson Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Howard Rhodes, J.D. Sosebee, Dennis Kesler and Curtis Green officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Survivors include one son, Buck Barnett, Ila; four daughters, Ethelle Howington and Lautrelle Richey, both of Jefferson, and Eutelle Morgan and Gwynelle Smith, both of Nicholson; three brothers, Gordon Brock, Canton, J.W. Brock, Roswell, and Terry Brock, Griffin; four sisters, Viola Bianchi and Linda Jett, both of Griffin, Mellie Faye Brown, Dalton, and Lucille Moss, Roswell; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

Jake Jones
Jake Ernest Jones, 55, of Bowman, died Thursday, January 4, 2001, at his residence.
Mrs. Jones was born February 21, 1945, in Anderson, S.C., a son of the late Harrison Thomas and Ezzie Hunsinger Jones.
He was an auto mechanic and was a member of the Macedonia Congregational Holiness Church. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a son, Michael Thomas Jones.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, January 6, at the Macedonia Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. James Creason officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. David Herring, Randy Graham, Victory Scoggins, Lamar Shelton, Travis Shelton and Lee Strickland served as pallbearers.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Ethelene Bridges Jones, Bowman; one son, James Griffin Jones, Bowman; three brothers, Henry Jones and Raleigh Jones, both of Comer, and Buck Jones, Fountain Inn, S.C.; five sisters, Sylvania Thomas, Watkinsville, Lettie Mae Strickland, Danielsville, Kathlene Dove, Elberton, Barbara Shelton, Comer, and Jacklyn Helms, Danielsville; and six grandchildren.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.

Mammie L. Hughes
Mrs. Mammie Lucille Hughes, 78, of Danielsville, died Monday, January 8, 2001.
Born in Tennessee, Mrs. Hughes was a daughter of the late Jessie Lindsey and Alberta Ann Jones Hinsley.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband, William Hughes.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by two sisters, Zora Turner, Danielsville, and Christine Klafert, New Orleans; and one brother, Douglas Hinsley, Maysville.
Brown's Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

James C. Smith
James Cody Smith, 77, of Carlton, died Monday, January 1, 2001.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Smith was a son of the late Cody Keyes and Maude Mathews Smith.
He had lived in the Carlton area for most of his life. Mr. Smith was retired from Hulme Tool Co., Elberton, after 34 years of service, and was a member of Carlton Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 3, at Carlton Baptist Church with the Revs. Doug Ivey and Marshall Tribble officiating. Burial was in the Carlton Cemetery. Blayne Smith, Ricky Drew, Derek Dye, Shane Smith, Marshall King and Donald Boswell served as pallbearers. Members of the Loyalty Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Imogene Smith, Carlton; one daughter, Linda Gaulding, Colbert; two sisters, Anna Laura Cooper and Mauline Drew, both of Carlton; two brothers, Lester T. Smith and G. Walter Smith, both of Comer; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carlton Baptist Church Building Fund, Church Street, Carlton, GA 30627, or to the Carlton cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Mauzee E. Bonds
Mrs. Mauzee Etheldra Belk Bonds, 85, of Danielsville, died Tuesday, January 2, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Bonds was born February 16, 1915, in Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late William Howard Belk Sr. and the late Eva Mae Robertson Belk.
Mrs. Bonds was a seamstress and homemaker and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Bynum Johnson, and her second husband, Wilborn W. Bonds, a brother, William Howard Belk Jr., and a sister, Evelyn Morrison.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Revs. Earl Goode and Robbie Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Howard Johnson, Winterville, and Michael Bonds, Emerson; three daughters, Mary Agnes Ramsey, Lake City, Carolyn Fort, Griffin, and Frances Fortson, Danielsville; two step-daughters, Lorine McConnell, Commerce, and Louise Boozer, Allenhurst; three sisters, Imogene Rice, Travelers Rest, S.C., Helen Bradley, Ila, and Peggy Isquierdo, Lawrenceville; 16 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Donna J. Johnson
Mrs. Donna Jo Johnson, 44, of Colbert, died Thursday, January 4, 2001.
Born in Fulton County, Mrs. Johnson was a daughter of Sara Jo Ferguson Duncan and the late Solomon David Waldrop Sr.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 6, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Jay Ragsdale officiating.
Survivors include one son, Michael Jason Bolick, Acworth; one sister, Pamela Grace Actaboski, Forest Park; four brothers, David Lynn Waldrop, Macon, Bobby Eugene Waldrop, Colbert, Anthony Wayne Waldrop, Danielsville and Carlton Lamar Waldrop, Forest Park; and two grandchildren.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
