Thomas Lloyd
Mr. Thomas James Lloyd, age 66 of Ball Ground, Ga., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born June 1, 1944 in Adrian, Mi., he was the son of the late William and Della Burse Lloyd. Mr. Lloyd had been employed by Big Star and most recently was a salesperson for Bayou Magic.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Lloyd, Ball Ground; daughter, Lynne Langley, Siloam Springs, Ar.; sons, David Lloyd, Douglasville, Ga., Motie Lloyd, Adel, Ga., Shawn Lloyd, Gainesville, Ga., and Michael Kantor Lloyd, Ball Ground; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Sharon Lee, Lacy, Wa., Pam Tryon, Pennsylvania, and Mimi Nickerson, Lacy, Wa.; and brother, Bill Lloyd, Lacy, Wa.
At his request Mr. Lloyd was cremated with no services scheduled at this time. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Sandra Bramblett
On Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, God stopped by Jasper, Ga. to take home one of His angels, Sandra Collins-Bramblett.
Sandra was born April 17, 1958 to Emma Julia and the late John Henry Collins. Raised in Jasper, Sandra attended Pickens County Public Schools and graduated from Pickens County High. She was active in both the Marching and Concert bands at Pickens High where she played the trombone. She received the John Phillip Sousa Band Award for Excellence in Music. A member of the Track Team, Sandra threw the shot put, representing Pickens High at State.
After graduating high school, Sandra attended and graduated from Berea University, Berea, Ky. Sandra also attended the University of Minnesota, Marshall University and the distinguished Julliard School of Music in New York. Her hard work and study helped her earn a Master’s degree and was studying for her Doctorate degree. Sandra had the pleasure of working with many world-renowned musicians on her way to fulfilling her dreams.
Sandra accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Friendship Baptist Church in Jasper. She served the church in many capacities including usher, Sunday School teacher and church musician.
Sandra’s love for music led her to Portsmouth City Schools, Portsmouth, Oh., where she had the pleasure of teaching music for 10 years. After returning to Georgia, Sandra continued her career teaching in several Georgia public schools. She was with the Atlanta Public School System at the time of her death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Dave; parents, Emma Julia and Eddie Washington; brothers, Michael (Sandra) Collins, Sr., Johnny (Quana) Washington and Dexter (Monique) Collins; sisters, Lurlene (Benjamin) Sims, Melissa, Lee Ann, Yolanda and Kenya Washington, Arlinda (Sydney( Hooks, and Armenda (Jerome) Jones; sisters-in-law, Linda (Terry) Mathias and brenda Bramblett; uncle, Howard E. Collins; aunts, Margaret K. Holt, Georgia Washington and Ida Respree; and special friends, Stephanie Pitts and Trina Cagle. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
At her request, Sandra was cremated and a memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church in Jasper. The Rev. R.S. Thomas officiated. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Marvin Martin
Marvin B. Martin, age 59 of Canton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Kennestone Hospital.
Mr. Martin was self-employed in the upholstery business. He was a member of Old Damascus Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Martin, Canton; children, Phillip Martin, Canton, and Vickie Ghorley, Jasper; grandchildren, James David Spence, Tori Spence and Josh Ghorley; great-granddaughter, Madison Spence; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Martin of Canton.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 from Old Damascus Baptist Church. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.

James Shirley
Mr. James Webster Shirley, age 97 of Jasper, passed away Oct. 19, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Mr. Shirley was born Sept. 10, 1913 to the late William Henry Missouri Scott Shirley. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a superintendent. Mr. Shirley was a member of Jasper First Baptist Church and Pickens Star Lodge #220 F&AM; for over 50 years. Mr. Shirley was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Cowart; and brother, Bill Shirley.
Survivors include his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Mike and Lisa Cowart, Jasper; son-in-law, Roy Cowart, Jasper; and great-grandchildren, Caleb and Katie Cowart, Jasper.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Chapel of Roper Funeral Home with Dr. Jimmy Lewis officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Lake Forest Memorial Park with Pickens Star Lodge #220 in charge of Masonic graveside rites.

Norma Furgerson
Mrs. Norma Walker Furgerson, age 95 of Jasper, Ga. and long-time resident of Hopkinsville, Ky., died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at Serenity Mountain Manor in Jasper following a period of declining health.
Born July 20, 1915 in McCall Creek, Ms., she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Benjamin and Willie Georgia Hodge Walker. Mrs. Furgerson graduated from Holmes County Junior College in Goodman, Ms. where she majored in commercial studies. She married William Mayo Furgerson and they moved to Hopkinsville in 1939 for Mayo to join Planters Bank and Trust Co., where he worked for 40 years. He died May 22, 1986.
Norma retired in 1980 as office manager for Metropolitan Insurance Co. Before her retirement she served as executive secretary for the Christian County Tuberculosis Association. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady with the Jennie Stuart Medical Center’s Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to serve with the Christian Women’s Fellowship, to play Scrabble with her “Scrabble Buddies” and to write poetry about her every day experiences.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Jerry Givan, Jasper; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Shirley Furgerson, Fairfax, Va., and William Furgerson, Jasper; and sister, Gloria Livingston, Baducah, Ky. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 from First Christian Church in Hopkinsville with the Revs. Ronald Furgerson and Nathan Brown officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Green Hill Memorial Gardens in Hopkinsville. Donations may be made to the Christian Women’s Fellowship, local Outreach Ministries, c/o First Christian Church, 2601 S. Walnut St., Hopkinsville, Ky. 42240. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Carolyn Cash
Mrs. Carolyn H. Cash, age 64 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Terrell Cash, Jasper; daughter, April Roberts, Jasper; step-sons and step-daughters-in-law, Greg and Wendy Cash, Jasper, Brian and Heather Cash, Canton, and Jeffrey and Lydia Cash, Cumming; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Ralph Harper and Wanda and Greg Mullins, all of Jasper; special friends, Greg Chaney and Randy Pilcher; and four step-grandchildren, Dalton, Macy, Jordan and Brock Cash. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with Pastors Seth Kinner and Steve Dusek and the Rev. Ralph Harper officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were: Robert Davis, Chad Lockey, T.J. Flowers, Greg, Brian and Jeffrey Cash. Honorary pallbearers were: Jordan Cash, Todd and Travis Lockey, David Roberts, Randy Pilcher and Greg Chaney. The family did accept flowers but prefer donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Bergetta Phelps
Mrs. Bergetta Phelps, age 96 of Jasper, passed Tuesday evening, Oct. 19, 2010 at Embracing Hospice, Cumming, Ga.
Survivors include her sons, Ernest Gifford, Detroit, Mi., Gary Gifford, Forsyth, Ga., Terry Phelps, California, and Michael and David Phelps, both of Jasper; and sister, Nina Evans, Daytona, Fl. Fourteen grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Phelps was transported to the Browns Funeral Home, Grand Blanc, Mi., for the funeral service. Cagle Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Mark Moore, Sr.
Mr. Mark H. Moore, Sr., age 81 of Clearwater, Fl. and formerly of Jasper, Ga., passed away at Sabal Palms Health Care in Largo, Fl. early Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Mary Moore, Clearwater; sons and daughter-in-law, Mark Moore, Jr., Jasper, and A.C. Moore II and Dorlores, Cumming; step-son, John Lord, Clearwater; step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Julie and Richard McCurdy, Inverness, Fl.; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Nick Anagnost, Greenwood, S.C. Nine grandchildren also survive.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22 from Sunrise Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Ken Murphy officiating. The family did accept flowers or donations may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fl. 33607. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dean Satterfield, Jr.
Mr. Dean Satterfield, Jr., age 67 of Waleska, passed away Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Lingerfelt, Waleska, Barbara and Chris Smith, Jasper, and Carrie and Carl E. Bramlett, Jr., Ellijay; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey and Diane Satterfield and Steve and Linda Satterfield, all of Ball Ground; sister and brother-in-law, Diane Von Dusen and Dan Christophers, Marietta; grandchildren, Drew Moats, Mariah and Kenneth Smith, Sarra and Lee Moats, Waylon Smith, Derek Turner and Sydney Collier. Two great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Flowers officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the following Masons serving as pallbearers: Verner Cook, Bobby Ghorley, Ronnie Loner, Mack Whitfield, Bill Miller, Jackie Voyles and James Blalock. The Sharp Top Masonic Lodge #680 was in charge of the graveside service. The family did accept flowers or you may make donations to Sharp Top Lodge #680.

Gil Taylor
Mr. Gilford H. “Gil” Taylor, age 81 of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Piedmont Hospital.
Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Jasper Assembly of God Church and retired from Atlantic Steel Company. Mr. Taylor enjoyed gardening and collecting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter J. and Sarah Turner; wife, Jane Taylor; and wife, Carol Marie Taylor; brothers, Charles and Alton F. Purcell; sisters, Jewell and Shirley Purcell.
Survivors include his children, Karen Taylor, Waycross, Walter (Becky) Taylor, Cumming, and Sherry (James) Harrell, Carrollton; step-children, Sharon and Beverly; grandchildren, Laurie, Kelly, Conway, Wesley and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Lawton, Kaitlyn, Tristin, Jaylin, Hannah, Amber and Gaibriella; sister, Barbara Ann Entsminger of Tennessee; and brother, Robert Eugene Purcell of N.C.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Taylor officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery.

Richard Ingram
Richard Lamar Ingram, age 41,of Rockmart, passed away on Friday, Nov. 12, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Ingram was a carpenter and he was Baptist. He enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes and reading.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Ingram, Rockmart; children, Harley Ingram, Canton, and Maggie and Gracie Wolfe, both of Rockmart; brothers, Bobby Ingram, Cartersville, Larry Ingram, Ball Ground, and Jeff Payne, Jasper; and sisters, Brenda Ingram, Canton, Laverne Dean, Jerri Bishop and Gail Giefing, all of Jasper. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces nephews and cousins also survives.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 from County Line Baptist Church in Jasper with the Revs. Randy Weaver and Jess Possey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service on Saturday at the church.

Bill Eaton
Mr. Bill Eaton, age 84 of Dalton and formerly of Tate, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Regency Park & Rehab Center in Dalton.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Eaton, Dalton; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy E. and Jerry Manis, Dalton; and grandchildren, Robbie and Chris Eaton, Jasper, and Chris and Greg Manis, Dalton. Four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Harbin and Leroy Kelley officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Hinton Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Dean and Terry Cantrell, Jack Owens, Chad Spiva, Garrett Smith and Jack Pendley. The deacons of Nelson Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers. The family did accept flowers or donations to Nelson Baptist Church.

Fern Burgess
Mrs. Fern Burgess, age 87 of Jasper, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Silvers, Jasper, Carolyn Barrett, Marietta, Andrea Miller, Jasper, and Angelia Burgess Hill, Canton; brother, Arthur Atkins, Jasper; and sister, Estelle Fountain, Jasper. Nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with friends and family providing the eulogy. iIntermentfollowed in Free Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Doug, David, Kevin, Donald and Denton Silvers and Brody Hill.

Belmer Payne
Mrs. Belmer Payne, age 83 of Talking Rock, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jan Payne, Jasper, and Robbie Payne, Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Larry Wright, Jasper; and sister, Ethel Templeton, Cartersville. Four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 12 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Steven Chapman and Tim Woodall officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Hinton Community Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Dusty, Jodi, Darius and Jonathan Payne, Jacob Chapman and Jim and Randy Mathews.
