Lester Lee Aikens Walker
Services for Lester Lee Aikens Walker of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6 at Sandhill Baptist Church of Scotland with interment in Pine Acres Cemetery in McRae.
The Rev. E. Neal Dixon and the Rev. Noah Robinson officiated.
Walker, 63, died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004. She was the daughter of the late James and Beatrice Aikens and was married to John Taylor Walker Sr. She was a native of Wheeler County.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters, Belinda Aikens and Lavine Aikens, both of McRae; sons, Lurnard Walker, Stanley Aikens and Michael Aikens, all of McRae, John Walker Jr. of Jonesboro; sisters, Diane Aikens of Atlanta and Hilda Gibson of McRae; brothers, Dennis Aikens of McRae and Chester Aikens of Yardley, Pa.; 21 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Ophelia King
Services for Ophelia King of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5 at Turner Chapel AME Church of Helena with interment in the Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. Adam Graham III officiated.
King, 94, died Sunday, May 30, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Asberry and Mahalia Harper and was the widow of Reed King. She was preceded in death by her son, William King.
She was a native of Wheeler County and was a housewife. She was a long time and active member of Turner Chapel Church of Helena.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, James E. Carter and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Frank William Thomas
Services for Frank William Thomas of McRae were held at noon Saturday, June 5 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment at 4 p.m. Monday, June 7 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Vonore, Tenn.
The Dr. William Connell and the Rev. Jarvis Bivens officiated.
Thomas, 83, died Thursday, June 3, 2004. He was the son of the late Jefferson M. and Ethel Gibson Thomas and was married to Lorene Thomas of Lake Wales, Fla. He was preceded in death by his son, Olon Frank Thomas and grandsons, Richard Shearer and Jefferson Monroe Thomas Hawkins.
He was a native of Murphy, N.C. and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had worked in agriculture for most of his life.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Raymond Thomas and Richard Thomas, both of Lake Wales, Fla.; daughters, Mickie Anderson and Patricia Rivera, both of Clarksville, Tenn., Alice Dunaway of St. Cloud, Fla., Margaret Dover of McRae, Annette Haggard and Joyce Butler of Lake Wales, Fla., Janice Youman of Sanford, Fla.; brothers, Wayne Thomas, J.L. Thomas and Charles Thomas all of Vonore, Tenn.; sisters, Jeanette Baker, Louise McLemore and Lucille Kirkland, all of Vonore, Tenn.; 37 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 277 M.L.K. Jr. Blvd., Suite 201, Macon 31201.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Lessie Johnson Towns
Services for Lessie Johnson Towns of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Livingston Cemetery.
The Rev. Joe Stevens officiated.
Towns, 87, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Maude Clements Johnson Towns and was the widow of Millard Emerson Towns.
She was a native of Telfair County and was retired from Roydon Wear Inc. after 30 years of service.
Survivors include her daughters, Katheryn Louise Runyun of Cedar Town and Quinell McGill of Tennelle; son, Millard Wendell Towns of McRae; brother, Willie Alfred Johnson of Macon; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Nora Clark Brown
Services for Nora Clark Brown of Rhine were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 in the chapel of Southerland Funeral Home with interment in the Bay Springs Cemetery.
The Rev. Kim Conley officiated.
Brown, 86, died Sunday, May 23, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Loyd Clark and was married to Dave Clarence Brown of Sylvester.
A native of Telfair County, she was a member of Rockwell Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters, Lennie Landry, Laura McClusky, Mary Hollie, Carolyn Spires, Sheila Brown and Sharon Lowery; son, Buster Brown; sisters, Neal Pittman and Lola Pickle; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence “Larry” Keith Moore
Services for Lawrence “Larry” Keith Moore of Helena were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 20 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Helena City Cemetery.
Jonathan Seay officiated.
Moore, 51, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004. He was the son of Iris Pitts Moore of Helena and the late Herbert Eugene Moore.
He was a native of Miami, Fla., but had resided in Telfair County most of his life. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a tool maker by trade.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Wendy Michelle Moore of Hawkinsville; son, Justin Moore of Hawkinsville; sisters, Linda McRae of Perry, Sharon Pfliger of McRae and Debbie Sharpton of Mt. Vernon; brother, Herbert Moore of Helena and one granddaughter, Jayci McLoon of Hawkinsville.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Fred L. “Sharkey” Nobles
Services for Fred L. “Sharkey” Nobles of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5 at the Alamo United Methodist Church of Alamo with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens in McRae.
The Rev. Alvin Lewis officiated.
Nobles, 76, died Monday, May 3, 2004. He was the son of the late James Earnest Nobles and Clara Grimes and was married to Dorothy Nobles of Alamo. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Suzanne Nobles Cook and grandson, Dusty Morrison.
A native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County, he was a salesman for Dixie Lily Milling Company and was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Debbie Fountain of Alamo; son, Freddie Nobles of Alamo; sisters, Ernestine Seabolt of Alamo, Estelle Cowan of Fitzgerald, Juanita Kilpatrick of Alamo; brothers, Carl Nobles of Byron, Eugene Nobles of Cochran, Willie Nobles and Jimmie Nobles, both of Alamo; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Towns Funeral Home of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.

Estell Jones Stovall
Services for Estell Jones Stovall of McRae were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Roy Grimes, the Rev. Alvin Lewis and the Rev. Sonny Stovall officiated.
Stovall, 102, died Sunday, May 16, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Bessie Turman Jones and was the widow of Benjamin J. Stovall.
She was a native of Wilkes County, had lived in Wheeler County and had lived in Telfair County for the past 14 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church since she was 23.
Survivors include her daughter, Ernestine Stovall of McRae; sons, Malette Stovall of McRae and Clinton (Martha) Stovall of Alamo; daughter-in-law, Lutrell Stovall of Milan and children, Janet and Phillip Price and Christy of Martinez and Wesley and Donna Strom, Bryan and Kim of Milan; sister, Pearl Howell of Macon; great-grandson, Tyler Young of Alamo; grandson-in-law, Tony (Darlene) Young of Alamo and children, Jarred and Ryan.
Contributions may be made to the New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Opel Grimes, Rt. 2 Milan, 31060.

Mary Louise Brack
Services for Mary Louise Brack of Helena were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 10 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Harrelson 15Cemetery.
The Rev. Tim Brown officiated.
Brack, 74, died Friday, May 7, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Will Sam and Bertha Alexander Hall and was married to W.R. Brack of Helena. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Brack.
She was a native of Washington County, and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a home maker.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Randall Brack of Helena; daughters, Hilda Williams of Lumber City and Wanda Wyatt of Helena; brothers and sisters, Nellie Stapp of Watkinsville, Virginia Sailors of Flowering Branch, J.W. Hall of Conyers, Sarah Hallman of Eatonton, Florence Ballew of Hazlehurst and Willie Hall of Uvalda; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
