Harry Lee ‘Bubba’ Handley
Mr. Harry Lee “Bubba” Handley, 44, passed away Sunday, August 27, 2006, at his residence following a brief illness.
A native of Denver, Colo, he had lived in Homerville most of his life. He was a telephone cable splicer and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Quinton Allen, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Z.T. Handley.
Survivors are his father and mother, Harry Lee and Betty Allen Handley, Sr. of Dupont; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pamela and Randy Williams and Carla and Scott Leccese all of Homerville; two brothers and sister-in-law, Allen and Amy Handley of Manor and Kyle and Mary Ruth Handley of Homerville; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Allen of Homerville; two aunts, Brenda Ciciora of Homerville and Katie Rice of DuPont; one uncle and aunt, Charles and Kathy Handley of Fargo; six nieces and nephews, Victoria Palmer, Skyler Graddy, Ashton Williams, Zachery Handley, Breanna Handley, Lexie Handley and several other relatives.
Services were held Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 11 a.m. from Trinity Baptist Church.
Officiating was Rev. Ed Falgout.
Internment was in North cemetery near DuPont.
Active pallbearers were Randy Williams, Scott Lee, George Hughes, Zachary Handley, Ashton Williams, and Sam Blount.
Brad Register sang “I Can Only Imagine”, and Joe and Eileen Smith sang “Amazing Grace”.
Roundtree Funeral Home of Homerville served the Handley family.

Phillip Bryce Mizell
Mr. Phillip Bryce Mizell, 50, passed away Friday, August 25, 2006, in South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta following a short illness.
Mr. Mizell was born January 11, 1956, to Faye Delk Mizell Royals of Sparks and the late Rowan Mizell. He was retired from the Clinch County Road Department and was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Mizell.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia Mizell of Homerville; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Ray Foster, Tammy Geuea, Janie and Jeb Turner, all of Homerville, Amy and Travis Sharp of Hahira, Julie Cartwright of Manor; three sisters, Frances Arnold and Debbie Barrett both of Sparks and Ramona Mizell of Albany; seven brothers, Robert Mizell, Marshall Mizell, Charlie Mizell, Jimmy Mizell, Joe Mizell, Randy Mizell and Sid Mizell all of Homerville; 15 grandchildren and several other relatives.
Services for Mr. Mizell were held Monday, August 28, 2006 at 3 p.m. from Lang Country Church.
Officiating was Rev. Keith Chauncey and Rev. Clyde Purvis.
iIntermentwas in Lang Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael Barrett, David Barrett, Allen Mizell, Jimmy Mizell, Marcus Harper, and Jeb Turner.
Honorary pallbearers were Ray Foster, Dustin Bennefield, Travis Sharp, James Royals and Richard Royals.
Sonya Mobley sang “Amazing Grace” and a tape of “Precious Memories”, “Go Rest High on That Mountain”, and “Daddy’s Hands” was played.

Dale Dean Raymond, Jr.
Mr. Dale Dean Raymond, Jr., 45, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2006, at his residence following a brief illness.
A native of Marlette Michigan, he had lived in Homerville for about 15 years. He worked for Willacoochee Industrial Fabrics.
Survivors are his wife, Atwell Johns Raymond of Homerville; his father and mother, Dale Dean and Beverly Ann Hagemeister Raymond, Sr. of Decatur, Ga.; two daughters, Roxanne Faye Raymond of Great Falls, Mont. and Stephanie Lynn Raymond of Marlette, Mich.; two step-daughters and son-in-law, Donna Renee Noonan of Kingsland and Jacquelyn Amanda and Lavon Duke Delk of Stockton; two sisters, Deborah Ann Priest of Stone Mountain, and Lisa Jo Houston of Poulan, Ga.; one brother, Jeffery Allen Raymond of Decatur; four grandchildren, Amber Nicole Noonan, Heather Renee Delk, Rebecca Lyn Delk, and Haley Eloise Delk; his father and mother-in-law, Levi and Jacqyline Johns of Homerville and several other relatives.
Service for Mr. Raymond were held Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at 3 p.m. from Indian Mound Baptist Church.
Officiating was Rev. Clayton Davis and Rev. Andrew Fields.
Internment was in Indian Mound Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Danny Sparks, Phil Burkhalter, Edion Douglas, Hebert Boone, J.D. Walker, Shelton Nipper, and Jimmy Mathis.
The Bennett Family sang “Precious Memories” and “Go Rest High on That Mountain”. Amber Noonan sang “Old Time Religion”.

Emma Ruth Jackson Cheatwood
Mrs. Emma Ruth Jackson Cheatwood, 75, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2007, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla. following an extended illness.
Mrs. Cheatwood was born February 2, 1931, in Lanier County, to the late Joe Jackson and Katie Mae Booth Jackson. She is a member of the Homerville Freewill Baptist Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Jasper, Fla. and was a retired executive officer of the Chamber of Commerce of Jasper. Mrs. Cheatwood was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Mae Boyd and Opal J. Foster; one brother, John Jackson.
Survivors are her husband of 25 years, Charles Wiley Cheatwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kacy and Mack McLaine of Dupont, Denise and Frank Hensley of Jasper; Jerry Singletary of Lakeland, Joe Singletary of Jasper; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Linda Jackson of Lakeland; six grandchildren and spouses, Tonya and Jimmy Stalvey of Dupont, Marie Walden of Dupont, Jason and Jodi Vaughn of Portland, Maine, Aaron and Katie Vaughn of Wildwood, Fla., Emma and Dennis Hendley of Homerville, Brandon Singletary of Lakeland; eight great-grandchildren, Megan Stalvey, Carra Stalvey, Kaitlyn Thrift, Kelsie Thrift, Dalton Hendley, Brent Hendley, Kayli A. Vaughn, Noah Vaughn; and several other relatives.
Services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. from the Homerville Freewill Baptist Church.
Internment will be in the North Cemetery.

Charlie Ronnie Delk
Mr. Charlie Ronnie Delk, 52, passed away early Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., following an extended illness.
Mr. Delk was born December 24, 1954, in Lowndes County, to Henry “Boss” Delk, Jr. and Jerrie Tomlinson Delk. He attended New Vision Church of God in Homerville and worked with Delk’s Logging. He enjoyed hunting on Cuttings Hunting Club.
Survivors, other than his mother and father are his wife, Rosalind Douglas Delk of Homerville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ron and Emily Delk and Rusty Delk and fiancee Tye Rachel all of Homerville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Linda Delk, Randall and Barbara Delk, Tommy and Diane Delk all of Homerville; one granddaughter, Kearson Delk of Homerville and several other relatives.
Services were held Friday, December 29, 2006, at 2 p.m. from New Vision Church of God.
Officiating was Rev. David Vanoy, Rev. Jerry Baldree, Rev. Art Smith.
Internment was in Pine Forest Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Brian Delk, Michael Herrin, Kevin Allen, Lee Allen, Charles Dial, Dustin Bennett, David Kelley, and David Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeffery Bolden, Travis Guess, Chad Nimmer, Neil Pittman, David Infinger, R.B. Pittman, Bryant Johnston, Chad Stewart, Sammie Parr, Barry Barnes, and Herschel Smith.
A tape was played, “When I Get Where I’m Going”, Monica Joyce sang “Give Me Jesus” and W.G. Smith sang “Wish You Were Here”.

Frances Lula Musgrove
Mrs. Frances Lula Musgrove, 78, of Live Oak, passed away Friday, December 29, 2006, at the Suwannee Health Care Center in Live Oak following a lengthy illness.
She was a native of Valdsota, moving to Live Oak from Homerville, in 1958. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, A.D. Musgrove of Live Oak; five sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Doretha Musgrove, Steve and Judy Musgrove, Mike and Gayle Musgrove, Jamie and Glenda Musgrove all of Live Oak, Chris and Terri Musgrove of Valdosta; one daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Jim Lewis of Palatka, Fla.; one sister, Emma Walker of Valdosta; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Parker and Pastor Chris Musgrove officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Future Now, P.O. Box 2980, Valdosta, Ga. 31604
Harris Funeral Home, Inc. of Live Oak served the Musgrove family.

Ronnie Davis
Ronnie Davis, 48, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Ware County. He was formerly employed by Brockwood Standard in the shipping department and was a member of Victory Methodist Church. He was the son of the late Charlie Davis.
Survivors include two daughters, Shauna Marie Crawford and husband William of Waycross, Veronica Davis of Waycross; a son, Charlie Gene Davis of Waycross; three grandchildren, Matthew Quintin Davis, Bethany Marie Crawford, Trinity Denae Perritt; his mother, Ludelle Fitchett Davis of Waycross; five sisters, Rebecca Metts of Lakeland, Annie Bell Kimbrell of Waycross, Mary Lou Lashley of Manor, Margaret Ann Braswell of Manor and Brenda Sue Higgs of Homerville; two brothers, Herman Davis of Waycross and Don Davis of Blackshear; and ex-spouse, Sheila Renee Adams Davis of Travisville; numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Officiating were Bishop Willie Mobley and Rev. Dwayne Tanner.
Pallbearers were Brian Kimbrell, Edward Beverly, Harvey Adams, H.L. Thompson, and Martin Koski.
Burial followed in Victory Methodist Church cemetery in Manor.
Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William ‘Bill’ Edward Johnson
William “Bill” Edward Johnson of Surprise, Arizona, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2007, from complications of Leukemia.
Bill was born July 18, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida to Marlin and Janice Johnson. He spent his youth on a farm in Iowa. Graduating from the University of Florida as an Electrical Engineer, he was a life-long Gator fan. Bill spent his career in various positions with the Federal Communications Commission, retiring as Regional Director of the Northwest Region. He was preceded in death by his father; first wife, Gwen Clutter; and his son, Scott.
Surviving him are his mother; sister Judi Daugharty of Homerville; son Jeff Johnson; and wife, Vicki Johnson; as well as three nieces and numerous cousins.
At his request there were no services. Donations in his memory could be sent to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3877 N. 7th Street, #300, Phoenix, Az. 85014.
Bill was a kind and patient man, able to talk to anyone about anything. He will be deeply missed.

Willie Mitchell
Willie Lewis “Honey Man” Mitchell, 59, of Homerville, died Monday, July 30, 2007, in an automobile accident.
He was a native of Homerville where he attended public schools and graduated from Homerville High School in 1966. His father was the late Willie Steward and his mother was the late Virginia Mitchell Knight. He was an employee of Hatfield Timber Company of Douglas. He was a faithful member of First Homerville Deliverance Church.
Survivors include his son, Miller James West (Diane) of Lakeland; a cousin that was raised like a sister, Doris Mitchell Bolden (Lavell) of Homerville; three step-children, Gloria Brand, Wanda Brand and Tommy Brand, Jr. all of Homerville; a special friend, Gloria Riley of Homerville; two aunts, Ethel Bob and Aggie B. Brown both of Homerville; a granddaughter, Dahlia West of Lakeland; a special niece, Lashonna Smith (Elvis) of Orange Park, Fla.; a host of cousins including the Mincey family and the Bob family; extended family includes the Grady family and the Tolbert family.
A funeral service was held Saturday, August 4, 2007, at 2 p.m. from Brown’s Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Rev. Gerald Copeland presided and Pastor Gertrude Sanford gave the eulogy.
Burial followed in Pine Forest Cemetery.
Fluker Funeral home served the Mitchell family.
