Ruby Dell (Flanders) Henry, 82
KITE--Funeral for Ruby Dell (Flanders) Henry, 82, was held Thursday, May 5, 2005 at 4 p.m. at Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Tommy McGee and Elder Mickey Harris officiating. Buril was in the church cemetery. She died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the University Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Henry was a native of Johnson County and taught school for forty-two years at Kite Elementary School. She was a member of Gumlog Primitive Baptist Church for forty years, Sunday School teacher and was mother of the late Mary Shepard.

Survivors include her husband, Ebb Henry of Kite; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Eddie and Lynn Henry of Kite; and Jerry Flanders of Macon; nephew, Troy Flanders of Warner Robins; one son-in-law, Danny Shepard of Kite; six grandchildren, Misty Flanders, Ridge and April Henry, Kyle Henry, Adam Henry, Little Danny Shepard and Bud Flanders.

Pallbearers were Joel Scott, Wayne Ward, Donald Peebles, Joe Williams, Mickey Garnto and Arthur Broom.

Peebles-Curry-Durden Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Viola Mae Ramsell, 74
SWAINSBORO--Memorial service for Viola Mae Ramsell, 74, will be held in Chemung, Ill., at a later date. She died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Emanuel Medical Center.

Mrs. Ramsell was born in Beloit, Wis. and had lived here for 20 years. She had retired with Emanuel County Board of Education as a cafeteria specialist.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Moose Club Auxiliary.

She has served as president of American Legion Auxiliary Post of Chicago, Ill. and American Legion Post #3 of Heidelburg, Germany, Survivors include her husband, William A. Ramsell of Swainsboro; a son, Anthony F. (Millie) Bosco of Beloit, Wis.; a daughter, Eleanora L. (Larry) Smith of Beloit, Wis.; a stepson, William A. Ramsell Jr. of Swainsboro; a brother, Gene (Sylvia) Collier of King, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Harriet Quiroga of Chicago, Ill.; eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Bobby R. McKenzie, 60
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Bobby R. McKenzie was held Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.

Burial was in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. He died Thursday, May 5, 2005 at Twin View Nursing home.

Mr. McKenzie was born on June 9, 1944 and has been a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He attended Nunez Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Graham McKenzie and Lois Faircloth McKenzie.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Kight McKenzie of Swainsboro; a daughter, Jeanie Morton of Garfield; a son, Chris McKenzie of Lyons; two brothers, Paul McKenzie of Winter Haven, Fla.; and Leon McKenzie of Swainsboro; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Scotty McKenzie, Luke McKenzie, Roger McKenzie, Tim Moss, David Winter and Mickey Fredrick.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Betty Steele Reynolds, 46
TWIN CITY--Funeral for Betty Steele Reynolds, 46, was held Saturday, May 6, 2005 at Emanuel County Institute Auditorium with Rev. Bennie Brinson officiating and Rev.

Amos Handsom assisting.

Burial was in Twin City Cemetery. She died Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at Hospice Savannah.

Mrs. Steele was a native of Emanuel County where she attended public schools. She was a member of Johnson Chapel Baptist Church in Garfield.

Survivors include two daughters, Selina Steele of Augusta; and Starkelia Steele of Swainsboro; a son, Daniel Sherrod Jr. of Twin City; her companion, Daniel Sherrod Sr. of Twin City; five brothers, Grant Steele of Atlanta; Bennie Steele Jr., Billy Steele, Marion Steele and Bobby Steele, all of Twin City; four sisters, Virginia Meyers, Judie Hightower and Leola Steele, all of Twin City; and Brenda Steele of Metter; and four grandchildren.

Reno Tapley Mortuary had charge of arrangements.

Dick Russell Riner, 74
THAILAND--A private family service for Dick Russell Riner, 74, was held in Thailand for Dick Russell Riner, 74, recently. He died May 6, 2005 in Nakornsawan,, Thailand.

Mr. Riner was the son of the late James D. and Mary C. Riner. He graduated from Adrian High School and was an educator for the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Collie D.

Riner and Cooledge Riner; and a sister, Alice Lawson Braswell.

The family of Mr. Riner will receive friends at the home of Kay Mimbs Webb near Meeks on Saturday, May 14, 2005 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m.

Survivors include stepson, Jopkhet Sribunraung of Nakornsawan, Thailand; two sisters, Myrtice R. Mimbs of Meeks; and Lois R. Scott of Swainsboro; two stepgrandchildren, Ricky and Dicky Sribunraung of Nakornsawan, Thailand; many nieces and nephews.

Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of the announcement.

Marion Rhoden Carmichael, 83
SWAINSBORO--Funeral for Marion Rhoden Carmichael, 83, was held Monday, May 9, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Rev. Nita Crump-Howard and Rev. Wayne DeFore officiating. Burial was in Coleman cemetery in Twin City. She died Friday, May 6, 2005 at Emanuel Medical Center.

Mrs. Carmichael was born in Reidsville and had lived here since 1947. She was a registered nurse and was the first surgical nurse for Emanuel County Hospital.

She was a member of David Emanuel Chapter of the DAR and 55 And Alive. She was a member of the C.I. Hall Sunday School class and the Madelene Rountree- Frances Pound Subgroup of the UMW. She was also volunteer at Emanuel Medical Center for many years.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Linda Carmichael of Swainsboro; grandchildren, Beth and (Franklin) Lamb of Statesboro; Lisa Carmichael of Swainsboro; Katie and (Jason) Lawson of Watkinsville; Jenny and (Jeremy) Webb of Savannah; and Jason Carmichael of Savannah; and two great-grandchildren, Katie Lamb of Statesboro; and Evan Webb of Savannah.

Pallbearers were Mark Williams, Buddy Cobb, Andy Worthington, Roy Thompson, Tommy Lamb, Bill Rogers, Jason Carmichael and Tyson Stephens. Honorary pallbearers were members of the C.I. Hall Sunday School class and Emanuel Medical Center volunteers.

Tomlinson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Melvin Holton, 71

POOLER--Mr. Melvin Holton, 71, died Sunday, Apri 24, 2005 at Hospice Savannah.

Mr. Holton was born in Treutlen County and had lived in Pooler since 1952. He retired from Union Camp after 42 years and was preceeded in death by his father, Romanus Holton and his brother Aldred Holton. Mr. Holton enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Jean Holton of Pooler; 4 daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia & Johnny Ray Lynn of Pooler, Tina and Ricky Beasley of Bloomingdale, Carmen Gray & Scott Schuman of Egypt and Karen and Eddie White of Pooler. 8 grandchildren, Keith Saxon II, Heather Simmons, Phillip Beasley, Justin , Ryan and Kendall Gray, Christopher, Kaitlin and Colt White; 5 great-grandchildren, Alex, Branden, Kaleigh, Haleigh and Cody; mother, Cuma Holton of Swainsboro; 2 sisters, Cebral Thigpen of Swainsboro and Cuby Dudley of Evans and several nieces.

Visitation is tonight, Wednesday, April 27, 6-8 p.m. at Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home, West Chatham Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, April 28 in the chapel of the funeral home. iIntermentwill be at Hillcrest West Cemetery.

James E. "Winky" Odom, 62

SWAINSBORO--Funeral for James Edward "Winky" Odom, 62, was held Monday, April 25, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Emanuel Christian Ministries with Rev. Bunnie Hudson officiating. Burial was in Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery. He died Saturday, April 23 at Candler General Hospital in Savannah after an extended illness.

Mr. Odom was born June 28, 1942 to the late Bennett Odom and Dallas Peacock Odom. He was a lifelong resident of Emanuel County. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years. He was a member of Emanuel Christian Ministries and Daniel Creek Hunting Club, where he served as secretary/treasurer on the board of directors. He was also a member of Railroad Union Lodge #806, where he served as secretary/treasurer for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Annette Bennett Odom of Swainsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Lionel and Tabbie Odom of Swainsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Don Mosley of Lyons; three brothers, Dr. Ben Odom and Jerry Odom of Swainsboro; and Barry Wilder Odom of Milledgeville; two sisters, Jeanette Davis of Swains-boro; and Juanita Moxley of Adrian; and three grandchildren, Tamara, Hunter and Terra.

Pallbearers were Greg Odom, Jamie Watson, Dewey Moxley, Greg Bennett, Jason Watson and Gary Odom. Honorary pallbearers were members of Daniel Creek Hunting Club and Byron Riner and Charlie Larry Wilson.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Bernard Clayton Todd, 80

KITE--Funeral services for Bernard Clayton Todd, 80, was held Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Kite Church of God with Rev. Allen Meeks officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery. He died Wednesday, April 20, 2005.

Born in Colquitt County, Mr. Todd was the son of the late Alvin Clayton and Daisy Bell Todd. He was the owner and operator of Todd’s Quail Farm. Mr. Todd was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include his children, Ronald Todd of Kite; Dalvin Todd of Kentucky; Donnie Todd of Mulberry, Fla.; Ray Price and Jeff Price, both of Wrightsville; Marilyn Todd of Maryland; Sandra Williams of Moultrie; Nora Todd of Kite; and Angelyn Kirkland of Dublin; a sister, Daisy Bell Horne of Albany; 30 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Stanley Funeral Home of Wrightsville had charge of the arrangements.

Pauline Burnette Smith, 97

MELBOURNE, FLA.--Burial for Pauline Burnette Smith, 97, will be held in Benton, Ark. She died March 11, 2005 in Melbourne, Fla. She was born in Covena on Nov. 7, 1907 to the late Eddie L. Gillis Burnette and Ernest Burnette.

Mrs. Smith was married to William Otis Smith and spent 20 years traveling in the United States and Japan. She worked for Far East Command Surgeon in Japan and the Air Force Auditor General. She retired in this country in 1958 and lived in Kansas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama and Florida.

Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia Murphy of Dauphin Island, Ala.; sisters, Bess Baker and Blanche Harbeson of Charleston, S.C.; a granddaughter and great-granddaughter.

Atlantic Mortuary of Rockledge, Fla. had charge of arrangements.

Wayne Dyal

Wayne Dyal, 54, died Thursday, November 23, 2000, at Tattnall Memorial Hospital. The Appling County native had lived in Baxley and Glennville most of his life. He was employed by Thompson Farm Supply in Baxley for 30 years, and was most recently employed by Glennville Ready Mix Concrete. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Anderson Dyal of Glennville, Georgia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Salena Dyal of Glennville and Krystal and Lonnie Heider of Glennville; his mother, Maggie Dyal of Baxley; two brothers, Ernest Dyal of Baxley and Albert Dyal of Odum, Georgia; one granddaughter, Britteny Heider of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Knight and the Rev. Charles Carter. Burial was in the Dyal Family cemetery in Glennville.

Pallbearers were Harold Lynch; Larry Anderson; Willie Dyal, Jr.; J. L. Carter; Donnie Dyal; and Rodney Black.

Honorary pallbearers were the Adult Sunday School Class of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.

Carter Funeral Chapel of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

Cecil T. Godwin

Cecil Thomas Godwin, 88, died Saturday, November 25, 2000, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia. The Pierce County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He retired from Georgia State Prison in 1974, and was a U. S. Army veteran. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Vera Poole Godwin of Glennville, Georgia; five sons: Jimmy Cecil Godwin of Savannah; Kenneth E. Godwin of Jacksonville, Florida; Thomas Bryan Godwin of Reidsville, Georgia; William Dixon of Glennville; and James Dixon of Uvalda, Georgia; one brother, Ralph Godwin of Jacksonville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 27, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Bargeron and the Rev. Lawrence Garrett. Burial was in Watermelon Creek Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jim Coulter, Quinton Rush, Robbie Robinson, David Tootle, Ronnie Waters, and Darryl Fowler.

Carter Funeral Chapel of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
