Carl H. McElreath

SENECA, S.C. - Graveside services for Carl Hensley McElreath, 78, of Talladega, Ala., and formerly of Seneca, S.C., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Oconee Memorial Park in South Carolina with the Rev. Bob Spearman officiating.

Mr. McElreath died Monday, June 10, 2002, at his residence. Born in Jefferson County on Oct. 5, 1923, he was a retired security officer with Duke Power Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Olene Burke McElreath; parents, Andrew and Alice Greenway McElreath; brothers, Cicero, Julius and Paul McElreath; sisters, Maude Fortner, India Mae Ledford, Hassie Echols and Minnie Darnell.

Survivors include his sons, Kenneth C. McElreath of Gainesville, Dwayne S. McElreath of Talladega, Ala., Terry H. McElreath of Walhalla, S.C., and Tony M. McElreath of Toccoa; daughter, Mrs. James (Hilda) Gragg of Cornelia; sisters, Pearl Jones of Cleveland, Aileen Neisler and Florance Boswell, both of Commerce; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, 131 Lila Doyle Drive, Seneca, S.C. 29672.

Joe C. Dyer

DANIELSVILLE - Funeral services for Joe C. Dyer, 93, of Danielsville, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, from Full Gospel Holiness Church with the Rev. Lanier Tatum, the Rev. Woodrow Hix and the Rev. Stanley Dyer officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Westview cemetery in Nicholson.

Mr. Dyer died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at a private nursing home following an extended illness.

Born in White County on March 10, 1909, he was the son of the late Joe and Maude Smith Dyer. He was a farmer and a member of Full Gospel Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clifford Thomas Dyer; and son, Charlie Dyer.

Survivors include his daughters, Lucille Hooper and Ethelene Meadows, both of Commerce; sons, Hubert Dyer of Lula, Hershel Dyer of Commerce and Dewey Dyer of Blacksburg, S.C.; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Campbell

Funeral services for Ralph Campbell, 66, of Gillsville will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Morris and the Rev. James Early Campbell officiating.

Mr. Campbell died Monday, June 10, 2002, at the V.A. Medical Center in Decatur following a brief illness.

Born in Hall County on Jan. 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Homer Andrew and Lessie Stover Campbell. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Stone Masonic Lodge No. 715. He also was a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple Motor Corps, where he served as an executive aide. He was a member of New Holland Baptist Church.

Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Early Campbell.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Park Campbell of Gillsville; daughters, Sherryl Gillette of Newport News, Va., Karen Moore of Gillsville, Lena Blackburn of Cornelia and Marie Morse of Comer; son, Jerry Whitfield of Gillsville; brothers, Arthur Rudolph Campbell and Odis Milton Campbell, both of Lula; sister, Lou Ella Wood of Gainesville; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Yaarab Shrine Temple's Hospital Fund, 400 Ponce De Leon Ave. N.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30365.

Lola Emory Jiles

CLAYTON - Funeral services for Mrs. Lola Emory Jiles, 91, of Clayton will be held Wednesday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Taylor's Chapel Church with the Rev. Thomas Burrell and John Gipson officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylor's Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Jiles died Monday, June 10, 2002, at the Lanier Park Campus of Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

Born Feb. 21, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Will Emory and Verlie White Emory of Andrews, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Jiles; and three children, Almon Jiles, Edward Jiles and Lolla Sue Jiles.

She is survived by five daughters, Edith Gipson of Lakemont, Evelyn Bowen of Walhalla, S.C., Lois Clark of Lakemont, Jean Harrison of Hollywood and Clarice Owens of Franklin, N.C.; sister, Doradell Robinson of Clayton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends today, June 11, from 7-9 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home, Highway 441, Clayton.

Eva Betty Baugh Collins

Funeral services for Eva Betty Baugh Collins, 64, of Alto will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at White Hall Baptist Church. The Rev. Scott Ledbetter, the Rev. Anthony Shore and the Rev. Ronald Mote will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Collins died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Hall County on May 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John Ernest Baugh and Lillie Mae Croy Baugh. She was preceded in death by her son, Dwayne Collins; brothers, Carl Ernest Baugh, Lemar George Baugh; and husband, Francis Joseph Collins.

She was a member of White Hall Baptist Church and was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills.

Survivors include her daughters, Janet Campbell of Alto, Pamela Painter of Cornelia; son, Bruce Collins of Gainesville; sister, Jimmie Ruth Wade of Alto; brothers, Arvil Baugh and Eddie 'Spanky' Baugh, both of Lula; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, from 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m. today, Aug. 6. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Evelyn Warren Kimbrell

Funeral services for Evelyn Warren Kimbrell, 85, of Cornelia will be held at 11 a.m. today, Aug. 6, at First Baptist Church of Cornelia. The Rev. Bob A. Baxter, the Rev. Blaine Walker and Dr. T. Logan Smith will officiate with burial in Level Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Kimbrell died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at a private nursing home following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County on March 19, 1917, she was the daughter of the late John and Cora Hardy Warren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Goldman Kimbrell.

Mrs. Kimbrell was a member of First Baptist Church of Cornelia.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Leona and Reese Munch of Mableton; daughter, Gwen Cadora of Cornelia; grandchildren, LeaAnne Townsend of Marietta, Kevin and Mary Munch of Douglasville, Kimberlee and Gary Stokes of Orlando, Fla., Frances Cadora-Luebbert and Scott Luebbert of Henderson, Ky., Suzanne Scott of Cumming; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cornelia Building Fund, P.O. Box 96, Cornelia, GA 30531.

John Marvin Popham Sr.

Funeral services for John Marvin Popham Sr., 85, of Demorest were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. The Rev. Tom Mewborn officiated with burial in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Popham died Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at a private nursing home following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County on Jan. 28, 1917, he was the son of the late Robert H. and Ila Ledford Popham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Shirley Popham.

Mr. Popham was retired from Burroughs Manufacturing in Detroit, Mich., with 25 years of service. He was a member of the Clarkesville Lodge No. 325 F&AM, and a member of the Mountaineer Shrine Club.

Survivors include his daughter, Shirley Smith of Demorest; sons, John M. Popham Jr. and Roger H. Popham, both of Demorest; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family.

Barbara Jean Miller Meister

Funeral services for Barbara Jean Miller Meister, 78, of Toccoa were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5, at Confidence United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Short officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy, Mich.

Mrs. Meister died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.

Born in Pontiac, Mich., on April 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry E. Lockwood and Josephine E. Harris. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Miller, and a brother, Richard Lockwood.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence P. Meister of Toccoa; sons, Danny Miller of Plymouth, Mich.; Terry Miller of Lake Orion, Mich.; Jeffrey Miller of Rochester, Mich.; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Joan Bellhouse

Graveside services for Joan Bellhouse, 47, of Brunssum, the Netherlands, formerly of Alto, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Aug. 6, at Eastview Cemetery, Mt. Airy.

Mrs. Bellhouse died Monday, May 6, 2002, at her home in Brunssum following a brief illness.

Mrs. Bellhouse was a special education teacher who formerly worked in the Habersham County and Stephens County school systems. She and her family moved to the Netherlands three years ago where she was a pre-school special education teacher in the Department of Defense schools.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Bellhouse; children, Lauren Bellhouse, Wyn Bellhouse, Lesley Ivie of Alto; and granddaughter, Carlie Ivie.

Memorials may be made to the Georgia Special Olympics or American Cancer Society.
