Annie Christine Vaughan

CORDELE - Graveside funeral services will be held today, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m. for Annie Christine Vaughan at the Vienna City Cemetery. The Rev. Cham White will officate.

Ms. Vaughan died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Cordele Health & Rehab.

Ms. Vaughan was born to the late Robert Lenton Vaughan and the late Annie Kate Orr Vaughan on Tuesday, May 23, 1905 in Heard County. A retired school teacher, she had also worked for Middle Georgia EMC and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Harriett C. Dunlap

ASHBURN — Funeral services for Harriett C. Dunlap, 93, of Macon, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1 in the Ashburn First United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Rose Hill cemetery in Ashburn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. An online guest book is available at www.perryfuneralchapel.com. Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Dunlap died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at the Heartland Hospice House in Macon following an extended illness.

Alton White

CORDELE — Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. for Alton White in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mr. White died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, at his residence.

He was born to the late Henry White and the late Lunie Presley White on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1932, in Wilcox County. He was a retired mold technician with Lasco Bathware Inc. in Cordele.

Suriviors include his wife, Frankie White of Cordele; two sons, Charles White of Leesburg, and Dennis White of Cordele; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dr. Kenneth B. Langley

CORDELE — Memorial services were held for Dr. Kenneth B. Langley at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Chaplain Ed Yurus, Dr. Langley’s son-in-law, officiated the services. Dr. Langley’s grandchildren, Blake Butterworth, Matt Yurus, Lauren Yurus, Brooke Butterworth and Jordan Maurodis gave Scripture readings. Dr. Jerry Butterworth, Dr. Dean Leaventhall and Joe Elkins shared personal reflections about their longtime friend.

“Be Thou My Vision” and “How Great Thou Art” were played during the service. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Emmitte Roundtree

MONTEZUMA - Funeral services for Emmitte Roundtree, 69, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3 in the chapel of Nance & Sons Mortuary in Cordele. Burial will follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. Bobby L. Robinson will officiate the services.

Mr. Roundtree died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, in Flint River Community Hospital in Montezuma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Annie Mae Roundtree, a brother, Jim Roundtree and two sisters, Mertis Clark and Ermia Laidler.

Survivors include a daughter, Gwendolyn Paul of Cordele; two sons, Ernest Roundtree of Cordele, and Emmitte (Barbara) Roundtree of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Ethel Neal of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers, Charles (Annie) Roundtree of Belle Glade, Fla., Sam (Jacqueline) Roundtree and Ernest Roundtree both of Cordele; a sister-in-law, Sarah Pearl Roundtree of Cordele; a special friend, Easter Henderson of Cordele; several children he helped rear; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Mary P. ‘Sweetheart’ Hauesler

ARABI - Funeral services for Mary “Sweetheart” Presley Hauesler, 64, were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26 in Bay Spring Baptist Church in Crisp County. Burial followed in Arabi Cemetery.

Mrs. Hauesler died Friday, Feb. 23, 2007, in Crisp Regional Hospital.

The Rev. Dennis Phillips, Rev. Hicks Brown and Rev. Charles Kilcrease officiated, and soft music was provided by Lee Hauesler. Active pallbearers were Jim Ward, Mike Manley, Greg Manley, Junior Presley, Lee Presley and Eddie Wallace.

Forming an honorary escort were Terry Hauesler, Lee Hauesler, Kirby Hauesler, Ken Hauesler, Perry Hauesler, John Hauesler, Marvin Hauesler and employees of the Ashburn Piggly Wiggly.

Born in Crisp County, Mrs. Hauesler was the daughter of the late Oscar Glayton and Nora Belle Hancock Presley, and lived in Crisp County for most of her life. She was a member of Bay Spring Baptist Church. “Sweetheart” was a faithful and long-time employee of the Piggly Wiggly in Ashburn. She was the widow of the late Lloyd Thomas Hauesler and was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Presley, Floyd Presley and Hubert Presley.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Keema and Dino Zervas and Keela and Hal McCay all of Cordele; her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Gail Hauesler and Tommy and Peggy Hauesler all of Arabi; her sisters, Loretta P. Wallace of Ashburn, Delia P. Law of Cobb, Norma P. Manley of Leesburg, Bernice P. Goodman of Cordele, and Glenda P. Conley of Tifton; her brothers, Everette Presley of Columbus, Ronald Presley of Arabi, and Royce Presley of Ashburn; and her grandchildren, Brandy Wilkes of Valdosta, Kelly Hauesler, Brandon Hauesler and Christopher Hauesler all of Arabi, MariNina Zervas, Wesley Zervas, Patrick McCay and Hali McCay all of Cordele.

Monty Muse

VIENNA - Funeral services for Monty “Mickey” Muse, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3 in the chapel of Alvie Coes Funeral Home with military honors. Burial will be private. The Rev. J.C. Baker will officiate the services.

Mr. Muse died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007, in Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab in Cordele.

Born in Heightstown, N.J., he was the son of the late Andrew and Mamie Mae Muse. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a taxicab driver and resident of New York before moving to Vienna. He was married to the late Dorothy Franklin Muse.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Muse and his wife of South Korea; a sister, Mae Randolph of Trenton, N.J.; a brother, Joe Muse of New Jersey; grandchildren, Ronda Muse of Vienna, Ronald Muse Jr. of New Jersey, Rachel Muse and Michelle Muse both of South Korea; three sisters-in-law, Smitha Anderson of Vienna, Lucille Anderson and Tommie Passmore, both of Miami, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Theodore (Eddie Mae) Anderson of Tifton; cousins, Lessie Hicks, and Vette (Willie) Mae Crane Jr. both of Pinehurst; a devoted friend, Arthur Ross of Vienna; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Curtis H. ‘Ham Bone’ Allen

PINEHURST - Funeral services for Curtis H. “Ham Bone” Allen, 71, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3 in the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Pinehurst. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. J.C. Baker will officiate the services.

Mr. Allen died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, in Pinehill Nursing Center in Byromville.

Born in Dooly County, he was the son of the late Curtis and Minnie L. Allen. He was educated in Dooly County Schools and was a truck driver by trade. He was a member of New Bethel CME Church in Pinehurst and had lived in New Jersey before moving to Dooly County.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharal Young of Vienna, and Trini Lewis of Detroit, Mich.; a son, Dexter Allen of New Jersey; two sisters, Shirley (Phil) Stockley and Lois (Jimmy) Lowery of Newark, N.J.; a brother-in-law, Daniel Ellington of New York; nine grandchildren, Towandi, Pervisha, Andrew, Shag and Stephanie all of Vienna, Kevis, Kendall, Taliyah and Tori all of Detriot, Mich.; three great-grandchildren, A’lexius, T.J. and A. Jaye all of Vienna; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gregory Leon Smith

CORDELE — Funeral services for Mr. Gregory Leon Smith of Cordele will be held on Sunday, Mar. 4, 2007 at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Beautiful Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Westview cemetery with the Rev. Lorenda Ray officiating. Mr. Smith passed away Feb. 28, 2007.

Jimmie Davis

HAWKINSVILLE - Funeral services for Jimmie Davis, 67, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 in the First Baptist Church, Hawkinsville. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church cemetery in Pitts. Dr. Don McClung, Dr. Kelly Pritchett and Dr. Gary L. Abbott will officiate the services.

Mr. Davis died Sunday, March 4, 2007, in Sumter County.

Born April 9, 1939 in Wilcox County, he was the son of the late M.C. Davis and Myrtle Clements Davis. He had lived in Pulaski County since 1971, and was a retired manager for B.C. Moore’s in Hawkinsville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hawkinsville and the Romeo Coffee Club at McDonald’s. He was former vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce and was an ordained deacon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Davis, in 2005.

Survivors include his wife, LouNell “Nell” Davis of Hawkinsville; daughters, Jan Davis McGuire of Macon, and Vicky Davis (Terry) Greene of Hawkinsville; a son, Jerry (Alicia) Davis of Hawkinsville; brothers, Don (Priscilla) Davis of Rex, and Morris Davis of Dublin; sisters, Lisa (Wayne) McKinley of Pitts, and Corine (Jimmie) Lamb of Macon; grandchildren, Steven McGuire, Adam McGuire, Shane Greene and Ashley Greene.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

J.E. Royal

CORDELE - Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8 at 11 a.m. for J.E. Royal in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Mr. Royal died early Tuesday morning, March 6, 2007, at Houston Medical Center from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.

He was born to the late George Royal and the late Abbie Eugenia Fussell Royal on Tuesday, June 30, 1936, in Wilcox County. Preceding him in death are a son, Bill Royal, and a brother, Ernest Royal. Mr. Royal was a farmer with Williams Farms and a member of Hatley United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Runia F. Royal of Cordele; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sherry Royal of Albany; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Joey Jackson of Cordele, Jessie and Gary Bryan of Cordele, Ellen and Benjie Rutland of Lenox; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Theron and Shirley Royal of Arcadia, Fla., Julian and Carol Royal of Wauchula, Fla., Clifford and Margaret Royal of Augusta, Jewel and Nancy Royal of Savannah, and Henry and Patty Royal of Orlando; and five grandchildren, Morgan Bryan, Christy Bryan and Justin Royal all of Cordele, Amanda Royal and Kevin Royal both of Albany.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Bill King

SMYRNA - Funeral services for William Alver “Bill” King, 84, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10 in the Union City Elks Lodge #1617, Union City. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Newnan.

The Rev. Bob Tyler will officiate the services, directed by Carmichael Funeral Home of Smyrna. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the service time. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. King died Wednesday, March 7, 2007.

Nettie Johnson Smith

CORDELE - Funeral services for Nettie Johnson Smith, 81, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be private.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in Crisp Regional Nursing and Rehab.

A native of Dooly County, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Nettie Dean Johnson. She was a meat wrapper for 26 years at Piggly Wiggly.
