Hannah Ellis

BYROMVILLE — Hannah Ellis died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

J. W. Williams Funeral Home of Cordele and Vienna has charge of arrangements.

Juanita Lawson

PINEVIEW — Funeral services for Juanita Lawson, 83, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Myriax Chapel CME Church. Burial will follow in Brown Hill Cemetery. The Revs. John Simpson and Marshel Howard will officiate the services, directed by Ferguson Brothers Funeral Home of Rochelle. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ms. Lawson died Saturday, June 2, 2007 at her residence.

Willie R. ‘Gee’ Lundy

VIENNA — Funeral services for Willie R. “Gee” Lundy will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of St. Mark Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Vienna City Cemetery. The Rev. Derrick Lundy will officiate the services.

Mr. Lundy died Friday, June 1, 2007.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice King-Lundy of Vienna; children, Michael (Lizzie) King and Mary L. (Larry) Lundy-Collier of Vienna, Daryl (Tangie) Lundy of Augusta, and Derrick (Karen) Lundy of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Cheryl Lundy of Macon; brothers, Emerson (Marise) Lundy Sr. and Sterling T. Lundy of Vienna; aunts and uncles, Doris Darison Fluellen of Rosedale, N.Y., Gussie Blocker of Hollywood, Fla., and Matt “Shimmie” Lundy of Peahokie, Fla.; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. King of Vienna; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; in-laws, Joyce (Larry) Dennard, Denise (Roy) Washington, Patricia King, Albert (Dr. Bobbie J.) King, Nazier (Mable) King, Edward King and Martin Luther King; and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Hawkins Sr., Frank Dennard and Regina Williams.

Harry Arthur Limauro Jr.

CHARLOTTE, Mich. — Harry Arthur Limauro Jr.of Charlotte, Mich., Birmingham, Mich. and Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., died June 5, 2007 at his home in Charlotte, Mich.

Private family services will be held in Michigan and in Georgia. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife of 60 years, Ruth Watson Limauro in Georgia.

Mary Perry

Mary Perry of Vienna died Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in Crisp Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Alvie Coes Funeral Home of Unadilla. The family may be contacted at 522 Holiday St., Vienna.

J.R. Odom

SYLVESTER — Funeral services for J.R. Odom, 88, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Acorn Pond Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Odom-Story Cemetery. The Revs. Grady Morey, Ray Burnette and Rob Gray will officiate the services.

Mr. Odom died Monday, June 11, 2007 at his residence.

A lifetime resident of Worth County, he was the son of the late George Cozzie Odom and Gatha Andrews Odom, and the widower of the late Elida Coley Odom, who preceded him in death in November 2005. He was a farmer and served on the Worth County Board of Commissioners, twice as chairman. Mr. Odom was a member of the Worth County Farm Bureau for more than 50 years, serving 24 of those as chairman. He was a member of the Mitchell EMC Board of Directors for 49 years and was on the Board of Directors for the Bank of Worth County (now Suntrust) for 42 years. He was a member of Acorn Pond Baptist Church and was a deacon for more than 50 years. He also served for many years on the Georgia Peanut Commission.

Survivors include a brother, Clarence C. (Sara) Odom of Warwick, and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Banks Funeral Home of Sylvester has charge of the arrangements.

Jill Payne Rogers

CORDELE — Mrs. Rogers, 53, a native of Rockcastle County, Ky. was born on Sunday, May 30, 1954 to Marie O. Payne and the late Earl B. Payne. She died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Crisp Regional Hospital. She was the office manager for McCay Gin & Warehouse for 35 years. She was a member of Cordele First Baptist Church where she was also a member of the Aliae Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband: Randy Rogers of Cordele; a daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Colin Scott of Kennesaw; a son: Cal Rogers of Cordele; her mother: Marie O. Payne of Cordele; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jeff and Sharon Payne of Pineview and Larry and Martha Payne of Cordele; sisters and brothers-in-law: Edna and Tim Veal of Cordele, Traci and Harold Dickerson of Opelika, Ala., Melody and Randy Coffee of Cordele, Dawn and Joe Farmer of Warner Robins and Carol and Denny Cox of Stafford, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jill Payne Rogers were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Cordele First Baptist Church. Burial followed in Zion Hope Cemetery. Dr. John Smith and Rev. Ray Sullivan officiated the services.

Ray Faircloth, pianist, played before and after the services. He also accompanied Tracy Black as she sang "I'll Fly Away."

Serving as active pallbearers were: Roy Hardin, Hal McCay, Furman Peeples, Wayne Tripp, Dwain Hobbs and T. W. Kilcrease, Sr. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Aliae Sunday School Class and Crisp County High School Class of 1972.

Hughes & Wright Funeral Home is entrusted with these arrangements.

Willie Mae Daniels Henry

DECATUR — Mrs. Willie Daniels Henry, 47, of Decatur, Ga. passed on June 12, 2007. She was a native of Dooly County.

The family may be contacted at the home of her daughter, Tamika Lewis, 409 East Woodward St., Apt. 17, Vienna, Ga.

Bentley Carson Memorial Funeral Home of Cordele has charge of the arrangements.

ARABI — Funeral services for Lucille McKinney, 75, of Arabi will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2007 at Arabi Baptist Church. iIntermentwill follow at Arabi Cemetery.

Eddie C. Smith

Funeral services for Eddie C. Smith of Cordele, Ga. who passed on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from the Crisp Regional Hospital are incomplete and will be announced at a later date pending the complete arrangements. J. W. Williams Funeral Directors of Cordele and Vienna have charge of arrangements.

Hannah Lewis Ellis “Bunch”

BYROMVILLE — Funeral services for Hannah Lewis Ellis will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary of the Bay Point C. M.E. Church. Burial will follow in the Bay Point cemetery with Minister Helen Conyer officiating.

Mrs. Ellis died on Friday, June 8, 2007.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, SGT. Henry Ellis of Willingsboro, NJ; a daughter, Persharon Jennings of Jacksonville, FL; a grandson, Jefferson Roberts of Willingboro, NJ; two sisters, Ida Harris of Paulsboro, NJ and Beatrice Leggett of Lilly; a brother-in-law and his wife, James and Julia Ellis of Brooklyn, NY; a sister-in-law, Mattie Hawkins of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including Willie B. Smith of Byromville.

Curtis Balom

TAMPA, FL — A public viewing for Curtis Balom of Tampa, FL, formerly of Rochelle, will be held on Friday, June 15 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the J. W. Williams Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2007 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Hosley Temple C.M.E. Church. Burial will follow on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Mount Aire cemetery in Pineview.

Mr. Balom died on Sunday, June 10, 2007.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannie C. Balom of Tampa, FL; a daughter and her husband, Vanessa and Norman Balom of Virginia; a son, Curtis Balom, Jr. of New York; a grandson; a sister, Hattie McBurrogh of Rochelle; two brothers and their wives, Sammie and Mary Balom of Atlanta and Thomas and Patricia Balom of Lakeland, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

George Lanier Jr.

VIENNA — Funeral services for George Lanier Jr., 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Pitts Church of God in Pitts. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery in Ashburn.

Mr. Lanier died Saturday, June 16, 2007 in Dooly County from injuries sustained in a car wreck.

Born in Pulaski County, he was the son of the late George Cornelus Lanier Sr. and Sarah Elizabeth Peddy Lanier. He had resided in Dooly County for the past 13 years and was a member of the Church of God in Vienna. He was the owner of Lanier Carpet Cleaning.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Dunagan Lanier of Vienna; his children, George C. Lanier III of Vienna, Sherry Gwen Wester of Franklin, Tenn., and Donna Faye Bringman of Cordele; his sister, Frances Penman of Tarpon, Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lexi Bringman.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Perry Funeral Chapel of Ashburn has charge of the arrangements.

Edward Chaney

UNADILLA — Funeral services for Edward Chaney, 74, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Pastor James Lee will officiate the services.

Mr. Chaney died Sunday, June 17, 2007 in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

A native of Dooly County, he was the son of the late Oscar Chaney Sr. and Lou Emma Whitehead Chaney. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and was educated in the Dooly County School System. He was employed at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins and later moved to Jacksonville, Fla. where he joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include four brothers, Henry Chaney, E.K. Chaney and Oscar (Arabelle) Chaney all of Unadilla, and Phillip Chaney of Gainesville, Fla.; two sisters, Bernice Brown of Unadilla, and Undene (Sammy) Walker of Atlanta; an uncle, T.W. Whitehead of Unadilla; an aunt, Kadell Byrom of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Ruthie M. Lewis of Macon; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ruth Jordan McCann

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Graveside services for Ruth Jordan McCann, 92, will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Vienna City Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. McCann died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at her residence.

Evvie Edge

LILLY — Funeral services for Evvie Edge, 91, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Brannen-NeSmith Funeral Home of Vienna. Burial will follow in Sunnyside cemetery in Cordele.

Mrs. Edge died Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at her residence.

Born in Pitts, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Augustus Fussell and Lizzie McGhee Fussell. She was a homemaker, a member of Lilly United Methodist Church, the Lilly Woman’s Club and was active in efforts to restore the Lilly School. Mrs. Edge was a loving mother, devoted to her continually growing family and was looking forward to the birth of her fifth great-great-grandchild in July.

Survivors include her sons, Robert L. (Blanche) Edge Jr. of Palmetto, Fla., and James Edge of Wauchula, Fla.; her daughters, Gladys B. (Ronnie) Hatcher of Byromville, Gloria (George) Royal of Lilly and Mary (Douglas) Holloway of Rome; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Homer Patterson and Robert L. Edge, and a loving daughter-in-law, Joan Edge.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crisp Regional Hospice, 906 N. Fifth St., Cordele, Ga., 31015.
