Mrs. Jean Banks Reed

Statesboro, Ga.

Mrs. Jean Banks Reed, age 67, died Friday afternoon at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The Bulloch County native was a graduate of Statesboro High School and attended Georgia Teachers College. She moved to Palm Beach Florida for 40 years before returning to Statesboro in 1996. Mrs. Reed was the Director of Fiscal Services for Palm Beach County Tax Collector for 15 years. She was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Jim Banks.

Surviving are her husband of 31 years, James Leroy Reed of Statesboro; a daughter and son in law, Susan A. and Howard Lanier of Jupiter, FL; her mother, Eubie Turner of Statesboro; a sister and brother in law, Ann and George Heath of Augusta; two nephews, Jimmy Heath of Augusta and Lt. Col. Stanley Heath of Woodbridge, VA; four aunts, Alva Barford of St. Simons Island, Cora Lee Dyson of Fayetteville, Ollie Dixion of Statesboro and Vennie Lanier of Savannah and a uncle, Robert Lanier of Statesboro. .

Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Ledbetter officiating.

Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 1:00pm until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will be Bob Avra, L.R. Anderson, Jr., Wallace Newton, Jimmy Heath, Greg Avra and Gary Cowart.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Patsy Bird Kirby

Statesboro, Ga.

Ms. Patsy Bird Kirby, age 51, died Saturday at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. The native and life long resident of Bulloch County was a 1972 graduate of Statesboro High School. She was employed with ITT Grinell for 19 years and Briggs and Stratton for the past four years. She was of the Baptist faith. Ms. Kirby was preceded in death by her father, John Wilton Kirby.

Surviving are her mother and step father, Juanita Brown Morris and Bobby Morris of Statesboro; a brother, John R. Kirby of Atlanta and five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Joyce and Steve Rickert of Statesboro, Judy Jackson of Atlanta, Becky and Grayson Ellis of Statesboro, Dale and Pete Brannen of Sylvania and Heidi and Joe Akins of Statesboro; Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00pm until 6:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 4:00pm in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. James Barnes officiating assisted by Rev. Tom Osborne.

Burial will be in the Eastside Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Briggs and Stratton.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Friendship Baptist Church

Building Fund, 4101 Friendship Church Rd., Statesboro, Ga. 30458.

Bobby Parten
1939-2004
Commerce, GA

Bobby Allen Parten, 64, of Berea Road died Wednesday, November 10, 2004.

A native of Barrow County, Mr. Parten was the son of the late William Ezra and Fairy Bell Owens Parten. He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Parten. He was a retired electrical tester from Westinghouse. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Greater Athens Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Davis Beauchamp Parten of Commerce; son and daughter-in-law, William Allen and Tammy Parten of Dahlonega; stepchildren: Greg and Stephanie Beauchamp of Nicholson and Rhonda and Richard Leonard of Danielsville; sister, Lynette Fowler of Winterville; grandchildren: Brittany Noel Parten, Joshua Allen Parten, Angelia Rae Parten, Kyle Leonard, Chris Leonard, Austin Beauchamp, Conner Beauchamp and Kayla Beauchamp.

Funeral Services will be 4:00 pm Friday, November 12, 2004 in Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leon Pass and the Rev. Jack Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 at Bernstein Funeral Home.

Mr. Wallace Edwin Brown

Statesboro, Ga.

Mr. Wallace Edwin Brown, age 75, died Wednesday February 1, 2006, at Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was an active member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, and a member of the Jeff Owens Bible Study Class. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired from Sears after 28 years of service as a TV and radio technician. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who generously gave of his time and talents and was a friend to all. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by a sister Jacquelyn Brown and one brother Johnny H. Brown.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 54 years, Ruth E. Cowart Brown of Statesboro: one son and daughter-in-law Dennis and Rhonda Brown of Statesboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law Dee Dee and Jimmy Redding of Statesboro, Deanna B. Tackett of Naples FL, and Denise and Chris Elrod of Lakeland FL; nine grandchildren Jason and Laura Kearney of Statesboro, Brooke Kearney of Atlanta, Greg Kearney of Statesboro, Alex Brown and Adam Brown of Statesboro, Savannah Lambert and Rori Redding of Statesboro; two brothers and sisters-in-law Billy Earl and Gladys Brown of Statesboro, and Tommy R. and Flo Brown of Statesboro.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Eastern Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Kennedy and Rev. Carl Ledbetter officiating.

Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Benny Lee, Tim Freeman, Tommy Brannen, Jappy Stringer, Dewayne Perkins and George Beasley.

The honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Eastern Heights Baptist Church.

Marjorie Alice Cantrell Knight
(September 20, 1932 - June 16, 2011)

Mrs. Marjorie Alice Cantrell Knight, age 78, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2011. She was born on September 20, 1932 in Conyers, Georgia; she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William D. and Alice Casey Cantrell.

Mrs. Knight is survived by her loving husband, Mr. Robert Knight; son, William David Knight; sister, Polly Peek; two grandchildren, Billy Knight and Nathan Knight and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Knight and Kylie Knight.

Mrs. Knight is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; one sister; children, Michael Knight and Barbara Seamster and one granddaughter, Angela Seamster.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Knight will be conducted on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at eleven o’clock in the morning in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Snapp officiating.

iIntermentwill follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens cemetery in Douglasville, Georgia.

The family of Mrs. Knight will be receiving family and friends on Friday, June 17, 2011 from six o’clock in the evening until eight o’clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mrs. Marjorie Alice Cantrell Knight.

Erma L. Conway
1923-2004
Athens

Erma Mae Lucas Conway, age 81 of Athens died Friday Sept. 3rd.

A native of Ellerton, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Carl and Erma Mae Askins Lucas. Her husband, Franklin Benham Conway, preceded her in death. Mrs. Conway served in the US Navy during WW II as a member of the WAVES.(Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service.). She also retired from Kmart retail stores.

Survivors include children and spouses Lesley and Rick Maggiore of Watkinsville; Charles and Sarah Conway of Murfreesboro, TN; Mike and Carroll Conway of West Hartford, CT and Karen Dykstra of Athens; grandchildren Lisa Netterville and Laura Hewston of Atlanta; Elizabeth, Michael and Daniel Conway of West Hartford, CT. and Paivi Conway of Murfreesboro, TN; great grandchildren, Taylor Maggiore-Neeley and Alexis Netterville of Atlanta and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1PM Sunday, September 5th, at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Deacon Bill Lakin officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Melwood cemetery in Stone Mountain, Ga. at 3:30pm.

Mr. Jack Adron Ansley

Statesboro, Ga.

Mr. Jack Adron Ansley, age 83, died Tuesday evening at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The McDuffie County native lived in Bulloch County until 1972, then moving to Colonel’s Island until returning to Statesboro in 1996. Mr. Ansley was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and the South Pacific. He retired from the Ft. Stewart Civil Service as a mechanic after many years of service and was a farmer. Mr. Ansley organized the Colonel’s Island Volunteer Fire Department and served as chief for 25 years. He was a member of the Liberty County Lions Club and the American Legion Post 90. Mr. Ansley was a member of the Midway United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Terry A. Ansley.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Arnie Ruth Snipes Ansley of Statesboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Niki Scott Fields and Larry Fields of Portal and Lona and Ed McCall of Lawrenceville; a daughter-in-law, Mabel E. Ansley of Brooklet; a sister, Alma Lee Stone of Sumter, SC; seven grandchildren, Michael Ansley of Brooklet, Melissa Ansley Deloach of Richmond Hill, Ros Scott of Monroe, Chris Scott of Brooklet, Shane Scott of Statesboro and Lauren and Lindsey McCall both of Atlanta; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services and burial will be held Friday at 2:00pm at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Conley officiating.

Pallbearers will Ros Scott, Chris Scott, Shane Scott, Michael Ansley, Jack Malcom, Jr. and Melvin Ansley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Liberty County Lions Club.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459 or the donor’s local chapter of the Lions Club.

Mrs. Tommie Ann Burke Moorer

Statesboro, Ga.

Mrs. Tommie Ann Burke Moorer, age 61, died Wednesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The Uvalda GA native was a graduate of Hardeeville High School in Hardeeville SC. She was a Surgicial Technician and a Secretary and moved along with her husband during his career. She retired from Georgia Southern University in 2001. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Emily Fennell Sunday School Class. She was a past member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving is her husband of over 40 years Mason Moorer of Statesboro: two sisters and a brother-in-law Joan and Preston Moses of Jacksonville, FL, and Panda Burke of Hardeeville, SC; her parents Cecil and Altine Burke of Hardeeville, SC; a nephew John and his wife Sherry, and their children Blake and Megan Carroll of Hardeeville, SC; a niece Jennifer and her husband Craig Scott, and their children Jordan and Devin of Hardeeville, SC.

Funeral services for Mrs. Moorer will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. John Waters, Dr. W. H. Perry and Rev. Mike McAfee officiating.

Burial will be in Smyrna Methodist Church in Uvalda, GA.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be G.C. Herrington, Randy Thompson, Roy Thompson, Blake Carroll, Preston Moses, and Preston Foskey.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Emily Fennell Sunday School Class.

The family request that memorial contribution be made to the First Baptist Church 108 North Main Street, Statesboro, Ga. 30458, or to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531 Statesboro, Ga. 30459.

(July 3, 1971 - June 3, 2011)

Ms. Tammy D. Moore, age 39, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, June 03, 2011. She was born on July 3, 1971 in Cobb County; she was the daughter Ms. Joy Denise Wallace Moore and the late Mr. Johnny James Moore.

Ms. Moore is preceded in death by her father; and grandparents, Dennis and Mary Joe Wallace.

Ms. Moore is survived by her mother, Ms. Joy Denise Wallace Moore; daughter, Jessie Rochelle Moore and brothers, Christopher Dennis Moore and Joey James Moore.

The funeral service for Ms. Moore will be conducted on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at eleven o’clock in the morning in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Mr. T.A. Willingham officiating.

iIntermentwill follow in the Northview Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Moore will receive family and friends on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from ten o’clock in the morning until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
