Guy Sosebee

Survived by family, resident of Ellijay
Guy Ernest Sosebee, 84, of Ellijay, formerly of Morganton, died Dec. 20, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Sosebee was born Oct. 12, 1922, in Lumpkin County, Ga., to the late William Anthony and Minnie Edmondson Sosebee. He was an evangelist.
Survivors include his wife Ethel Free Sosebee; sons James Edward Sosebee, Herman Junior Sosebee, and John Mathew Sosebee, all of Ellijay; daughters Mary Jo Brown of Jasper, Ga. and Martha Jane Tanner of Commerce, Ga.; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 23 from the Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church of Dawsonville with the Rev. Reid Nicholson and the Rev. Leroy Blackwell officiating. Music was by the church choir.
iIntermentfollowed in Pleasant Hill Full Gospel Church cemetery.
The Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge.

Gary Panter

U.S. Army veteran, survived by family
Gary Dale Panter, 55, of Copperhill, died Dec. 24, 2006, in the VA Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Panter was a 1970 graduate of Copper Basin High School and was a member of the Copperhill Church of God. He had worked as a repairman with the Cities Service Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Panter was preceded in death by his father Herbert Panter.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years Joy Holder Panter; son Heath Panter of Ducktown; daughter and son-in-law Heather Leigh and Jeff Pudil of Clarksville, Tenn.; mother Joan Panter of Copperhill; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Wanda Panter, Roger and Sharon Panter, and Denny Panter, all of Copperhill; sisters and brothers-in-law Darla and Jeff Patterson and Marla and Buddy Walker, all of Jackson, Ga., and Misty Panter of Copperhill; grandson Nathan Pudil; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were Dec. 28 from the Akins of Copperhill chapel with a eulogy given by Heath Panter.
Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill was in charge of the arrangements.

Guy Burger

World War II veteran, survived by family
Guy Burger, 85, of Ellenwood, Ga., formerly of Ducktown, died Dec. 23, 2006, at his home.
Mr. Burger was a native of Polk County and the son of the late Robert Lee and Glee Hill Burger. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville and a member of the Retired Teachers Association in Polk County. He taught at Copper Basin High School and had a love for the profession gaining friendship and respect from both faculty and students. He was a veteran of World War II serving in both the Army and Air Force.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marie Spencer Burger, of the home; sons Kenneth Burger of California and Dr. Charles Burger of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter Martha Derbyshire of Ellenwood; brother Parks Burger of Ducktown; sisters Carzell Sisson, Hazel Harris, Marjorie Gunter, Ruth Edwards, Carolyn Thomas and Gwendolyn Galloway; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Dec. 27 from the First Baptist Church of McCaysville with the Rev. Garry Barber officiating. Music was by the Prime Time Singers.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville.
iIntermentfollowed in Crestlawn cemetery.
Donations may be made in memory to the Polk County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund, c/o Beverley Rush, 238 Jones Rd. S.E., Old Fort, Tenn., 37362.

Faith St. Michael

Loving wife, survived by family
Faith St. Michael, 63, of Austell, Ga., died Dec. 22, 2006.
Ms. St. Michael was a 1992 graduate of Agnes Scott College. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Blue Ridge and a loving wife.
She preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Daniel Kindell.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law Paul and Barbara Hyde Kindell of Austell and Jonathan Kindell of Marietta, , Ga.; brothers Dale Graham and Kenny Graham; and sister Debbie Graham.
Private services were held.
Davis-Struempf Funeral Home in Austell, Ga., was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Loftis

Loved camping and riding horses
Mary Alinda Loftis, 60, of Blue Ridge, died Dec. 22, 2006, at her home.
Ms. Loftis was born Sept. 9, 1946, in Fannin County, to the late Jewell and Mary Buetell Waters Burnett. She was of the Baptist faith, loved riding horses, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother James B. Burnett; sisters Helen Miller and Jean Woody; great-granddaughters Autumn, Melissa and Amber.
Survivors include her husband T.W. Burk; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Greg McClure of Hiram, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Michelle Loftis of Blue Ridge; step-sons and daughters-in-law Thornton and Camie Burk of Suches and Joe and Sharon Burk of Morganton; step daughters and son-in-law Scarlette Barnett of Blue Ridge and Norma and Ralph Dockery of Morganton; sisters Glenda Collis of Mineral Bluff, Burnice Shields of Blue Ridge and Joyce Farmer of Cleveland; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge was in charge of the arrangements.

Ganil Parson

Survived by family, resident of Maysville
Ganil Parson, 82, of Maysville, Ga., died Dec. 24, 2006, at her home after an extended illness.
She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Jones Trantham and wife of the late Edward Parson.
She was preceded in death by her brother Winfred Trantham and sister Lucille Painter.
Survivors include daughters Shelia Parson and Dorothy Griffin both of Maysville; brothers Clyde, Elmer, Jimmy, Johnny and Alvin Trantham, all of Copperhill, and Roy Trantham of Waynesville, N.C.; sister Georgia Spivey of Dalton, Ga.; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec. 26 from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. David Terrell and the Rev. Luke Parson officiating.
iIntermentfollowed in the Banks County Memorial Gardens.

Theresa Kuznieski

Survived by family, resident of Ducktown
Theresa Grosso Kuznieski, 105, died Dec. 18, 2006, in the Life Care Center in Ducktown.
She was born in Asti, Italy, to the late Emello and Emilia Franco Grosso on August 7, 1901. She was formerly of Miami, Fla., where she retired from Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Emily and Homer Kapua of Blue Ridge; grandsons Ron Kapua of Blue Ridge and David Kapua of Louisville, Ala.; great-grandson Richard Kapua of Miami; great-granddaughter Amber Kapua of Miami; great-great-granddaughter Coral Gomez of Miami; sister Inez Maria Deem of Elkin, N.C.; nephew Frank Gall of Elkin; and niece Loretta Zilofro of Hicksville, N.Y.
Graveside services were held Dec. 21 from the Tilley Bend Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Joe Kemper officiating.

Carl Helton

Survived by family, resident of Blue Ridge
Carl Otis Helton, 82, of Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge, died Dec. 22, 2006.
Born in Cherokee County, N.C., he was the son of the late Ira and Ana Shields Helton. He was a farmer and a member of Friendship #2 Baptist Church.
Mr. Helton was preceded in death by brothers Herman, B.T., and Atlas Helton; and sisters Berdie Helton and Beulah Kilpatrick.
He is survived by brother and sister-in-law Leonard and Myrtle Helton of Warren, Mich.; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Dec. 23 from Friendship #2 Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Clore and the Rev. Shane Roberson officiating.
Pallbearers were Jerry, Lloyd, and Bryan Kilpatrick, Gene Buchanan, Robert Roberson, and Robert McClure.
iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery.

Angela Akins

Resident of Blairsville, survived by family
Angela Hilda Akins, 74, of Blairsville died Dec. 23 at the Murphy Medical Center nursing home following an extended illness.
Born in Greenville, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Zeb E. and Carrie E. Harkins Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Benny Akins.
Survivors include daughters Debbie McCarty of Jacksonville, Fla., Rhonda Thomas of Bradenton, Fla., and Tammy Franklin of Morganton; sons James, Bill, and Steve Franklin all of Blairsville; sisters Janet Woodward of Dahlonega, Ga., and Shelby Franklin of Blairsville; brothers Micky Dixon of Albertville, Ala., and Gerald Dixon of Clanton, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and other relatives.
Memorial services were Dec. 30 from the chapel of the Akins Funeral Home with the Rev. Arnaldo Lugo officiating.
