Tony Dewayne Wright
Services for Tony Dewayne Wright of Glenwood were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Evening Light Church of God in Glenwood with interment in the Mason Cemetery in Wheeler County.
Pastor Elijah Clark officiated.
Wright, 45, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. He was the son of Lavonia Wright of Glenwood and the late Curtis Wright.
Born in McRae, he attended Wheeler County schools and Ft. Valley State College. He later became a well-known radio personality, “T. Wright in the morning.” The majority of his career was spent at MJIZ in Albany. He later developed a career in real estate.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by sons, Andre and Jamal of Albany and Alexander of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Curtis of Savannah; sisters, Ray Nita (John) Riley of Decatur and Sheila of Ellenwood, Ga.; nephews, four aunts, one uncle, other relative, and many friends.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

John A. ‘Pete’ Conley
Services for John A. “Pete” Conley of Milan were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home in McRae with interment in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Alvin Lewis and the Rev. Steve Pilkinton officiated.
Conley, 63, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006. He was the son of the late John Calvin and Nettie Spires Conley and was married to Jackie Conley of Milan.
A native of Dodge County, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a heavy equipment operator for a logging company.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Lisa and James Burch of Chauncey, John Conley of Helena, Tammy and Hank Spires of Helena, Tricia Conley of Milan, and Tommy and Renee Howell of McRae; brothers, Billy Conley and Ralph Conley, both of Rhine; and 13 grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Ernest David ‘Dave’ Holland
Services for Ernest David “Dave” Holland of Orlando, Fla. were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home, East Orlando Chapel with interment in the Chapel Hill Cemetery in Orlando.
Holland, 70, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006. He was the son of the late Robert and Nellie Holland of Rhine and was married to Alice Holland. He was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia and Elither, and brothers, J.C. and R.C.
Born in Rhine, he was a member of Parkway Baptist Church in Macon and was a great basketball player in high school. In 1973 Inland Container transferred him to Orlando, Fla. where he retired after 40 years of service. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and rarely missed a game on T.V. He managed the Pirates at Union Park Little League.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, survivors include his children, David (Rhonda) Holland, Cindy (Jim) LaPorta, Angie (Dean) Eaton, and Daison Holland; sisters, Willie Lou Reaves of McRae, Nannie Rosa Ertzberger of Jacksonville, Anna Yancey of LaGrange and Robbie Crapps of Macon; brother, S.E. (Sudie)Holland of Lumber City; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

James T. White
Graveside services for James T. White of Lumber City were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Snow Hill Baptist Church.
The Rev. Marion Smith officiated.
White, 71, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006 at Taylor-Telfair Hospital in McRae. He was the son of the late Harvey and Mary Coleman White.
A native of Laurens County, he had been a resident of Lumber City for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Holiness faith, and was retired from the timber business.
Survivors include his two sons, Greg (Susie) White and Steve (Katherine) White, all of Lumber City; daughter, Wanda (John) Montgomery of Lake Sinclair; step-daughter, Michelle (John) Johnson of Warner Robins; brother, Carlos White of Glenwood; sisters, Hazel Brooks and Etta Mae Dixon, both of Dublin; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Sue (Swain) Abernathy
Services for Betty Sue (Swain) Abernathy of Escondido, Calif. were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at Turner’s Chapel AME of Helena with interment in Milan’s Cemetery.
The Rev. Adam Graham officiated.
Abernathy, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006 at Palomar Hospital in Escondido, Calif. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Swain and Woma Mae Swain and was married to Charles D. Abernathy Sr.
Born in Milan, she attended Telfair County public schools and was a star basketball player in high school. She went to Boston, Mass. to pursue a degree in nursing. Later moving to California, she worked for the Visiting Nurses Association of San Diego County for 15 years, Redwood Terrace Health Care for five years and Veterans Hospital of LaJolla for one year. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Escondido, Calif.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Charles D. Abernathy II of Escondido, Calif.; brothers, Andrew Swain and Cleveland Swain, both of Boston, Mass.; brother-in-law, William Abernathy of Detroit, Mich.; four sisters-in-law, Afrances Swain of Boston, Mass., Carol Abernathy and Lucille Abernathy of Detroit, Mich., and Lurene Box of Nashville, Tenn.; aunt, Adel Swain Fletcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Selma Lee Webb Harrelson
Services for Selma Lee Webb Harrelson of Helena were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in the Harrelson Cemetery.
The Rev. Joe Stevens officiated.
Harrelson, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Madie Purvis Webb and was the widow of Olin Kennedy Harrelson. She was preceded in death by daughter, Gloria Kay Harrelson Anderson; sister, Stella Webb Cochran; and brother, Hugh Webb.
A native of Telfair County, she was a homemaker and retire secretary. She had a love for gardening and was a member of McRae First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Harrelson of Helena; son-in-law, Thomas W. Anderson of Hinesville; and grandson, Brian Anderson of Marietta.

Minnie Ruth Studstill Marchant
Services for Minnie Ruth Studstill Marchant of Milan were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15 at Rockwell Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Danny Lovett and the Rev. Bill Jones officiated.
Marchant, 81, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006. She was the daughter of the late Zack D. Studstill Sr. and Jimmie Clarke Studstill and was the widow of Joe Hardy Marchant.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, she was a member of Rockwell Baptist Church and was retired from Robins Air Force Base.
Survivors include her sisters, Cindy Martin, Betty S. White and Mary Margaret Studstill, all of Milan and Ramon S. Brophy of Rhine; brother, Zack Studstill Jr. and sister-in-law, Mary Studstill, both of Milan; and several nieces and nephews.

Kristy Mincey
Services for Kristy Mincey of Helena were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14 at New Hope Baptist Church of Rhine with interment in Hat McDuffie’s Cemetery in Rhine.
The Rev. Darrell Mitchell officiated.
Mincey, 25, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006 at her residence. She was the daughter of Wesley and Daffie Mincey of Milan.
Born in Dodge County, she had lived in Telfair County most of her life.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her sister, Kayla Mincey and Lashalla Mincey of Milan; brothers, Wesley Mincey Jr. and Lapadro Ewing of Milan; grandparents, Gladys Mincey, Clark Wilcox and Annie Mae McDuffie, all of Milan; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
