MYRTLE ANN BLALOCK

Mrs. Ann Myrtle Blalock age 66 of Leslie Drive Blairsville passed away on Sunday August 5, 2007 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Blalock was born on Sept. 17, 1940 in Union County, the daughter of the late Sherman Duckworth and the late Fannie Young Duckworth. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a son, Travis Blalock. Mrs. Blalock was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Blalock are two daughters and son in laws, Tracie and Steve Warren of Gainesville, Pam and Rev. Ronnie Abernathy of Blairsville, two sons and daughters and son in laws, Rickey and Christy Blalock of Gainesville, Rev. Wade and Brenda Plott of Blairsville, three brothers and two sister in laws, Junior and Faye Duckworth of Blairsville, Charles and Linda Duckworth of Blairsville, Bill Duckworth of Corneila, six grandchildren, Travis and Tyler Plott, Haley and Holli Abernathy all of Blairsville, Jessa and Noah Warren of Gainesville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday Aug. 7, 2007 at 2:00pm from the Harmony Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Tanner and Rev. Steve Rhoten officiating. Special music will be presented by Robby Smith.The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Travis Plott, Doug Duckworth, Coy Dockery, David Dyer, Sid Duckworth, Jackie Duckworth, Casey Dover, Lamar Dyer and Shannon Carroll. iIntermentwill follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening after 6:00pm.

NANDO LEE BROWN

WWII US Navy
Mr. Nando Lee Brown age 79 of Cut Cane Rd. Mineral Bluff, GA. passed away on Monday Nov. 21, 2005 following an extended illness. Mr. Brown was born on Dec. 15, 1925 in Union County, The son of the late Ed Harrison Brown and the late Voleta Nix Brown. He retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company of Copperhill with over sixteen years of service. He was a Veteran of the US Navy of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosalee Flowers Brown in 1998.Mr.Brown was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Brown are one daughter and son in law, Janet and Charlie Brown of Culberson, NC., two sons and daughter in laws, Charles (Jeff) and Clea Brown of Ducktown, TN., Edward and Rita Brown of Murphy, one brother and sister in law, Franklin and Doris Brown of Blairsville, Eight Grandchildren, Ray, Rosa and Johnny Waldroup. Charles Eddie, Nathan Nando, Carol Ann, Lee and Ruth Brown, one Great-Grandchild, Tony Waldroup, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Nov.25, 2005 at 2:00 pm from Mount Herman Baptist church with the Rev. Charlie Raper, Rev. Scott Ware and Rev. Gene Ware officiating. Special music will be presented by Charlotte and Robert Flowers and Wiladene Ware. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Steven and Cecil Brown, Randy McClure, Max Moore, Nathan Rogers and Charles Eddie Brown. iIntermentwill follow in the Mount Herman Baptist church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2 pm on Friday. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening after 6:00 pm.

TOM LESTER LOYD

US Army Vietnam War
Mr. Tom Lester Loyd; PA age 59 passed away on Tuesday Nov. 22, 2005 at his home after bravely fighting cancer for over six years. Mr. Loyd was born on Oct. 13, 1946 in Atlanta, GA., The son of Robert Loyd and Ruth Rogers Loyd. Tom and his family moved from Hudson, FL. To Blairsville in 2001 where he was employed at the Hillcrest Clinic was a Physicians Assistant. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War where he served as a Medic. He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Rubert in 1999.Tom was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved the Lord and was a devout Christian.
Surviving Mr. Loyd are his loving wife of over twenty years, Lisa Culp Loyd of Blairsville, two loving sons, Daniel and Noah Loyd of Blairsville, His Parents, Robert and Ruth Loyd of Atlanta, many other relatives and close friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Nov.26, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with George Georgiou officiating. Special music will be presented by Vernal Richardson. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Doug Loyd, Chad Deyton, Harrison Garner, Daniel Loyd, Noah Loyd and Joe Garner. iIntermentwill follow in the Holly Hill cemetery. The family will meet with friends thirty minutes prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

BYRDENA OLGA DERRISO

Mrs. Byrdena Olga Derriso age 79 of Chrisman Rd. Blairsville, formerly of Leesburg, FL. passed away on Thursday Dec. 1, 2005 at her home following an extended illness. She was born on Dec. 12, 1925 in Tampa. FL., the daughter of the late Tony Leto and the late Rita Torrino Leto. She was preceded in death by her husband. Moscoe Derriso. Mrs. Derriso was a member of the House of Prayer.
Surviving Mrs. Derriso are one daughter and son in law, Rita and Jack Brown of Leesburg, FL., one sister, Rose Hopey of Black Mountain, NC., one brother, Peter Leto of AL., one Grandson, A dear friend Lucille Cislak of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity in Mrs. Derriso’s memory.

REV. WILLIAM THOMAS FORD

US Army Korean War
Rev. William Thomas Ford age 75 of Ford Rd.Blairsville passed away on Wednesday December 7, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Rev. Ford was born on Oct. 19, 1930 in Campbell County, TN., The son of the late Charlie Thomas Ford and the late Evelyn Marie Walden Ford. He was a Veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Mark Ford in 1999 and by a Great-Grandchild, Madison Ford, also by five brothers and one sister. Rev. Ford had been in the Ministry for over forty nine years. He was the former pastor of Eastside Freewill Baptist church in Warren, MI., where he served as their Pastor for twenty eight years. Rev. Ford was the current Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church and had pastured there for the past five years.
Surviving Rev. Ford are his loving wife of fifty four years, Marie Lucille Franklin Ford of Blairsville, Three sons and daughters in laws, Larry and Brenda Ford of Clinton Township, MI., Mike and Joann Ford of MaComb Township, MI., Keith and Roberta Ford of Blairsville, one sister, Carrie Mae Jordan of Knoxville, TN., nine Grandchildren, Sharyn (and husband Danny), Shannon, Steve, Jason, Melissa, Matthew, Kristy, Daniel and Justine. three Great-Grandchildren, Leon, Morgan and Serena, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Dec. 10, 2005 at 11; 00 am from eh funeral home chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating. Special music will be presented by Leon Henderson, Steve Cox and the Ebenezer Church Choir. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jason, Matt and Daniel Ford, Junior Cummings, Lynn Nichols and Eric Moore. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Home Powell, Leon Bauer, Tim Steele, C.D. Griggs, Hubert Plott, Johnny Nichols Clayton Moore, and all of Toms Fellow Ministers. iIntermentwill follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

JOAN MARIE GAETA

Mrs. Joan Marie Gaeta of Hiawassee, GA entered her new life in Christ on July 17th, 2007 at the age of 68. A life-long non-smoker, Joan waged a courageous three year fight against lung cancer. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 21st at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2839 Young Harris Highway, Blairsville, GA, 30512. A gathering of friends and family will take place afterward at Mountain Presbyterian Church next door. Joan was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Celtruda of Ossining, New York. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard J. Gaeta, her five children, Maria and husband John Cressler of Smyrna, GA, Theresa and husband Roger Andretta of Woodstock, GA, Richard J. Gaeta, Jr. and wife Sherri of Acworth, GA, Christina and husband Richard Pink, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Joseph A. Gaeta and wife Alexa of Austell, GA, and twelve grandchildren. Also survived are her sister, Mary Ellen Tanaka of Rochester, MN and her brother Joseph Celtruda of Hopewell Junction, NY. Joan received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine as well a Masters in Education from Oglethorpe College in Atlanta, GA. After leaving New York and then Connecticut, she was a Georgia resident for 32 years, living in Roswell and Macon before retiring to Hiawassee. Joan was a full-time homemaker as well as a part-time Math tutor and substitute teacher. When her children left her nest, she began teaching English, math, and religion at St. Jude the Apostle Elementary School in Atlanta and later at St. Joseph’s in Macon. Service to others was always priority for Joan as evidenced by her work with the Glennmary Home Missions (a Catholic ministry for the rural poor), her work as a volunteer tutor at the Nazareth Home in Macon (a group facility for un-wed teenagers), and her volunteer efforts at St. Joseph’s Community Outreach in Macon (distributing food to those in need). Joan was active in each church parish she ever belonged to. Among her other church roles, she has been a extraordinary minister to the sick, a liturgical minister, the coordinator of art and environment, a choir member, and a bookkeeper. Joan was also very active in various social activities. An avid reader, she was always a member of a book club. She enjoyed social get-togethers and group aerobic exercise. Joan was the vice-president of the Roswell Historical Society in the late 1970s. As a retiree at age 63, she began taking art classes for the first time, taking up watercolor painting as a hobby and becoming extremely adept at it. She will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved her – family and friends and everyone touched by her life. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Lung Cancer Alliance is welcomed. RANDAL CLINTON MCDONALD

Mr. Randal Clinton McDonald age 36 of Garrett Rd. Blairsville, GA. formerly of Athens, TN, passed away on Wednesday July 18, 2007 following an apparent heart attack. Mr. McDonald was born on Feb.21, 1971 in Loudon County, TN., the son of Jerry Allen McDonald and Carolyn Howard McDonald. He was a loving husband and a friend to all who knew him, and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. McDonald was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. McDonald are his loving wife, Olivia Wilson McDonald of Blairsville, two children, Felicity and Trey Wilson of Blairsville, father and step mother, Jerry and Roberta McDonald of Loudon, TN., mother and step father, Carolyn and John Hensley of Athens, TN., step father, William A. Stephens of Winfield, TN., three sisters and one brother in law, Melissa Redman of Athens, TN., Crystal Hopping of Loudon, TN., Melissa and Willard Martin of Oneida, TN., two brothers and one sister in law, Anthony and Sherri Stephens of Niota, TN., Billy Stephens of Oneida, TN., mother in law, Barbara Wilson of Blairsville, sister in law, Ashley Grant of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday July 20, 2007 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Tammy Hughes. iIntermentand graveside services will follow at 5:00pm from the Loudon County Memorial Gardens cemetery in Lenior City, TN. with the Rev.Chris Hamilton officiating.The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-9pm.

RICHARD LEE McADAMS

US Navy Korean War
Mr. Richard Lee (Mac) McAdams Sr. age 78 of Holly Cove Circle Blairsville, GA., formerly of Winter Haven, FL., passed away on Saturday July 21, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. McAdams was born on Jan.31, 1929 in Greensboro, NC., the son of the late Clarence and Jessie Wilson McAdams. He was a veteran of the US Navy of the Korean War. He was employed for over thirty years with Independent Life Insurance company. Richard enjoyed the beach and the mountains of NC. and GA. He loved to go camping and just sitting around a camp fire. He spent many hours with his woodworking projects and his painting. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thaddeus and C. E. McAdams. Mr. McAdams was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. McAdams are his loving wife, Donna McAdams of Blairsville, one son and daughter in law, Richard L. and Clare McAdams of Orlando, FL., one daughter, Shelley Henderson of Tallahassee, FL., one step daughter and son in law, Deanna and Jimmy Edwards of Lynn Haven, FL., grandchildren, Ann Bumgardner of Wilmington, NC., Richard W. McAdams of Washington, DC., Sam McAdams of Winter Haven, FL., Casey Henderson, Brooke Henderson and Bailey Henderson all of Tallahassee, FL., step grandchildren, Mina and River C. Edwards both of Lynn Haven, FL., numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles from NC. and SC., many other friends and relatives also survive.
A private family memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice in Richard’s memory.

ANN TONITA CHAMBERLIN

Mrs. Ann Tonita Chamberlin age 59 of Copperhead Rd. Blairsville formerly of Clearwater, FL. passed away on Sunday July 22, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Chamberlin was born on oct.10, 1947 in Waterberry. CT., the daughter of the late Ray Villanueva and the late Esperanza Sanduli Villanueva. She was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Villanueva in 2006.Mrs.Chamberlin was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Clearwater, FL.
Surviving Mrs. Chamberlin are one son and daughter in law, Michael and Elizabeth Lindsey of Blairsville, two daughters and one son in law, Nina and Edward Broyles of Clearwater, FL., Lori Lindsey of Clearwater, FL., seven grandchildren, Hope, Wesley, Sarah, Jonathan, Julia, Danielle, Nadia, Harmony and Michael, Special friends, Gladys Adams, Doris Chamberlin, Linda Mears and Cash, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A private memorial service will be held in Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to St. Judes Hospital in Mrs. Chamberlin’s memory.

MAZEL BERNICE HUNT

Mrs. Mazel Bernice Hunt age 73 of the Old Blue Ridge hwy Blairsville passed away on Thursday Dec. 29, 2005 following an extended illness. Mrs. Hunt was born on June 13, 1932 in Towns County, GA., The daughter of the late Frank Gribble and the late Dollie Cruise Gribble. She had worked at Georgia Boot for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Hunt and a brother Hoyt Gribble. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Mrs. Hunt was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Hunt are one son and daughter in law, Ricky and Michelle Rich of Blairsville, one daughter and son in law, Debbie and Bill Smith of Loganville, GA., two sisters, Mozella Crouch of Ocala, FL., Monette Rhodes of SC., two Grandchildren, Kerry Jayne Rich and Brian Plumley, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Dec. 31, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Earl Pickelsimer and Rev. Jerry Young officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jeff Butt, Mike Brown, David Miller, Brian Plumley, Ted Lunsford and Bill Smith. iIntermentwill follow in the Union Memory Gardens cemetery.

JAIMESON DREW SNOW

Jaimeson Drew Snow age 17 of Pleasant hill Rd. Blairsville passed away on Thursday Dec. 29, 2005 in Lumpkin County following injuries received in an automobile accident. Jaimeson was born on Jan.31, 1988 in Union County, The son of John William Snow Jr. and Janene Henson Snow. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and had attended the Union County School system. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Jimmy Henson and Fumiko Snow. Jaimeson attended the First Baptist church.
Surviving Jaimeson are his parents, John William Snow Jr. of Blairsville, Janene Henson Gray of Loganville, GA., three brothers, John William Snow III, Kyle Snow and Caleb Snow all of Blairsville, Grandparents, Joyce Henson of Blairsville, John William Snow Sr. of Blairsville, Great-Grandparents, Reba and William Newsome, Uncles and Aunts, Jason and Amy Henson, Jared and Helen Henson, Jennifer Howard, Pat and Denise Snow and Henry Snow, Cousins, Jordyn Howard, Misty, Brandy, Brooke, Ashley, Daniel and Dylan Snow, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday Jan. 1, 2006 at 4:00 pm from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Lodge and Rev. Chris Miller officiating. Special music will be presented by Terry Hooper. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Trey Gunter, Matt Forrester, Justin Jones, Lee Goodman, Evan Albright and Shane McDonald. iIntermentwill follow in the Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery.

CONSTANCE GLADA KONRADY

Mrs. Constance Glada Konrady age 83 of TrackRock Gap Rd. Blairsville, formerly of West Palm Beach, FL. passed away on Friday Jan. 6, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Konrady was on Aug. 8, 1922 in Fitchburg, MA., the daughter of the late Anton Efverman and the late Glada Smith Efverman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Charles Konrady Sr. in 1984 and by a son, John Howard Konrady in 1998.She had retired from the Palm Beach County Scholl Board and had volunteered with the American Heart Assc. for several years. She had helped to print Brail Christian materials with the Lutheran Brail Workers. Mrs. Konrady was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Mrs. Konrady are one son and daughter in law, Richard Charles Konrady Jr. and Barbara Anderson of West Palm Beach, FL., one daughter and son in law, Kathryn and David Heyer of Blairsville, two sisters and one brother in law, Virginia See, Harriet and George Bedick, one brother, Donald Efverman all of Fictchburg, MA., four Grandchildren, Kacee, Chris, Richie and Dan, two Great-Grandchildren, Raven and Cheyenne, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday Jan. 12, 2006 at 10:00 am from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of West Palm Beach with Pastor David Arnold Officiating. iIntermentwill follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to The American Heart Assc. of West Palm Beach, FL in Mrs. Konrady’s memory.
