Gaston Allmon Jr.

Gaston Allmon Jr., 76, of Waycross, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center.
A native of Blytheville, AR, he had lived in Sikeston, MO most of his life but had lived in Amory, MS before moving to Waycross in 1982. He had been an over-the-road truck driver for 40 years and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a member of the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church in Blackshear and was a son of the late Gaston Allmon Sr. and Lillie Viola Harkey Allmon. He was also preceded in death by his former wife, Bobbie Allmon Stokes, and also by a sister.
Survivors are his wife, Pat Patterson Allmon, Waycross; six sons, Larry Allmon and Mike (Kathy) Allmon, all of Sikeston, MO, Rick (Nancy) Allmon, Blackshear, Jimmy (Ruth) Allmon, McClenny, FL, Jeff (Vickie) Allmon, Jacksonville and Wayne Edwards, Amory, MS; a daughter, Jennie (Josh) Millwood, Covington; a brother, Marty Brown of Texas; 10 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, from the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.

Eldora ‘Dora Kate’ Jacobs

Eldora “Dora Kate” Jacobs, 92, of 622 Lee St., Blackshear, died in the early morning hours Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at Satilla Care Center in Waycross.
“Dora Kate” was born May 13, 1913 in Pierce County, as the daughter of Charlie and Minnie Jones. She was educated in the public schools of Pierce County.
She later married Eddie Willie Jacobs and to this union six children were born: James, Delores, William, Curtis, O. Benjamin and Katherine.
She worked for many years for the King Edward Cigar Factory in Waycross and later for Georgia Power in the Blackshear office. She loved to cook and enjoyed having family and friends by to eat with her.
She was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and sang in the Adult Choir for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Willie Jacobs; two sons, Oscar Benjamin Jacobs and Curtis L. Jacobs and a son-in-law, Dolphus Welch.
Survivors include two sons, William C. (Faye) Jacobs and James (Marie) Jacobs, all of Blackshear; two daughters, Delores Welch and Katherine Rogers, both of Blackshear; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Frances Jacobs, Blackshear and Gussie Jacobs and Emma Hudson, both of Rivera Beach, FL; two “adopted” girls, Sis. Mary Conway and Sis. Dorothy Collins, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 3, from Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmie Green officiating.
Jacobs Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.

Bertie Mae Justice Lee

Bertie Mae Justice Lee, 69, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2005, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
A native of Ware County, she had lived in Pierce County for most of her life. She was a housewife and was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. She was a daughter of the late W. F. Jr. and Edna Chancey Justice and was also preceded in death by her husband, Melton Lee; three sisters and by both of her brothers.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Verdis and Stanley Walker, Blackshear; three sons and daughters-in-law, Melton Jr. “Buddy” and Dollie Lee, Hazlehurst and Bobby and Kathy Lee and James and Dianne Lee, all of Blackshear; a sister, Pauline Gill, Offerman; eight grandchildren, Michelle Davis, Derik Walker, Andrea Marshall, Daniel Lee, Ashley Day, Brandon Lee, Lance Lee and Justin Lee; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 4 from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Ira Clark

Ira Ennis Clark, 90, of Blackshear died Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2005, at his daughter’s residence following an extended illness.
A native of Colquitt County, he had lived many years in Florida and Mississippi before moving to Pierce County in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. Clark, Elizabeth Carter Clark and by a daughter, Patricia Odonegan.
He was retried from the U.S. Post office as a rural carrier and formerly owned Clark Brothers Auto Supply in Lucedale, MS. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church in Brooksville, FL, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and choir director. After moving to Mississippi he became a member of First Baptist Church in Lucedale. He was also a Mason and a member of the Kiwanis.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mildred Clark, Blackshear; two daughters, Carol Hunter (husband Wray J.), Blackshear, and Dianne Miller of Arkansas; a son, Edward Clark (wife Betty), Luling, LA; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nita Hormantz, Port Orange, FL and Lucille Seay, Manhattan, KS and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 9, from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home.
iIntermentwill follow at 3 p.m. that afternoon at Oak Dale Baptist Church cemetery in Colquitt County.
Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. tomorrow evening (Thursday, December 8) at the funeral home.

James Paul Peacock

James Paul Peacock, 72, of Blackshear, passed away early Monday morning, December 5, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he had worked as a salesman with the Standard Coffee Company. He was a member of the Blackshear Church of God and was a son of the late Joseph Alvin and Mattie Godwin Peacock. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lawana Kent Peacock, who passed away August 12, 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Carl) Perry, Blackshear, Gayle Melson, Stockbridge and Nancy (Randy) Tennyson, Thomaston; a son, Randy (Rene) Peacock, Blackshear; three step-daughters, Donna Hill, Manor, Pamela Slaughter, Brunswick and Shannon Minchew, Homerville; two step-sons, Mike Hill, Los Banos, CA and Gary (Joy) Hill, Augusta; eight grandchildren, Heather Wynn, Eric Tennyson, Jason Tennyson, Nicole Goddin, Leslie Melson, Clint Melson, Jason Strickland and Justin Strickland; four great grandchildren, Alana Tennyson, Cole Goddin, Caleb Goddin and Chance Goddin and several other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 8, from the Blackshear Church of God.
iIntermentwill follow in the Blackshear Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. this evening (Wednesday, Dec. 7), at the funeral home.

Opie Pittman Peacock

Opie Pitman Peacock, 93, of Blackshear died early Sunday morning, December 4, 2005, at Baptist Village in Waycross after an extended illness.
A native of Bacon County, she had lived most of her life in Pierce County. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Owen Roy Peacock who passed away in 2004 and by her parents, David S. Pittman and Susie Harrison Pittman.
She was a graduate of South Georgia College where she received her degree in music. She taught school in Bacon County before her marriage.
She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was always very civic minded and was a noble member of the Pierce County Homemaker Club for over 50 years where she served in in many leadership positions.
She was a popular judge for 4-H, an active member of the Pine Womans Club and Blackshear Womans Club and cancer drives each year.
She was a longtime active member of First United Methodist in Blackshear since 1946. She served as secretary/treasurer of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class for many years, and the Prime-Timers. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and traveling.
Her last 10 years were spent at Baptist Village in Waycross making new friends and enjoying a different period of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Raulerson (husband Dwight), Blackshear; four grandchildren, Rene’ Williams (husband Mike), Amelia Island, FL, Lanier Raulerson (wife Jenifer), Douglas, Michael Raulerson (wife Kelly), DeLand, FL, and Chris Raulerson (wife Kim), Waycross; eight great-grandchildren Ashley, Kyle and Chelsea Williams of Amelia Island, FL, Rebecca and Daniel Raulerson, Douglas, Hunter Raulerson, DeLand, FL, Drake and Shayna Dryden, Waycross; a sister Phenna Wolfe, Ducktown, TN, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, from the First United Methodist Church.

Mesheldeon Wolfe

Mesheldeon Wolfe, 50, of Homerville, passed away late Saturday evening, December 3, 2005, at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
A native of Columbia County, FL, she had lived in Homerville for many years. She was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her father, Melvin W. Wolfe; a sister, Gail Ann Waters and by a brother Waldon Wolfe.
Survivors include her mother, Addie Louise Bagley, Homerville; four sisters, Brenda (Nathaniel) Davis and Melba (Jake) Davis all of Hahira, Marti (Mike) Sansone, Portland, ME and Audrey (Kim) Cummings, Tri Ridge, KY; two brothers, Roy (Susan) Wolfe and Don (Sharon) Wolfe, all of Blackshear and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.

Robert Virgil Carter Sr.

Robert Virgil Carter Sr., 69, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005, at his residence following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he had worked as a truck supervisor for United Egg. He was a member of the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and will be remembered for his love of fishing. He was the son of the late John Franklin and Annie Irene Dial Carter and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Carolyn Hall, and a sister Beatrice Waunell “Sister” Singleton.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Gary Smith, Blackshear; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Donna Carter, Blackshear; his former wife and mother of his children, Yvonne Lovell Murphy, Waycross; four grandchildren, Joey (Lisa) Golding, Robbie (Desiree) Smith, Cassie Carter and Haley Carter; a great-grandchild, Ashlynn Smith; four sisters, Lois (John) Simmons, Pauline Chaney and Aldine Grushewsky, all of Blackshear and Aline (Dave) Neiman, Starke, FL and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, December 7), from the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.
iIntermentwill be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to either the Hospice Satilla, 1921 Alice Street, Suite A-1, Waycross, GA 31501 or the the Southeast Cancer Unit, PO Box 2764, Waycross, GA 31502.

Mattie Bell DeLoach

Mattie Bell Walker DeLoach, 77, of Blackshear, died Monday night, October 24, 2005, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, following a brief illness.
She was a native of Brunswick, but had lived most of her life in Pierce County. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Burnell DeLoach Sr.; her parents, E.A. Walker and Mattie Barnard Walker; her sister, Agnes Westberry; two brothers Earl Walker and E.A. “Junior” Walker Jr. and a son-in-law. Franklin Griner.
She was a homemaker and attended Ward Memorial Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia L. Griner, Patterson and Chandra G. Peacock (husband Demory), Blackshear; three sons, John B. “Johnny” DeLoach, Blackshear, Steven W. DeLoach (wife Sandra), St. Marys, and Stuart C. Deloach (wife Shelly), Blackshear; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margret Odom (husband Robert), Winder, Jo Tuten (husband Leon), Blackshear, Dolly Youmans (husband Edsol), Bristol; a brother-in-law, Robert Westberry, Blackshear; a sister-in-law, Wilma Walker, Brunswick, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
