Mr. Lewis R. Hamilton, age 91, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Higgins Hamilton; parents, Joseph D. and Ivy E. Bridges Hamilton; sisters, Winnie Rowe Burnette, Annie Jo Shoemake and Jurell H. Davis; and brothers, Talmadge “Jack” Hamilton, Paul Hamilton, Howell Hamilton, and Glenn Hamilton. He is survived by his son, Joe M. Hamilton, Buford, GA; sister, Floyce Hamilton Bramlett, Marietta, GA; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins. Mr. Hamilton was born April 27, 1919 in Jackson County, GA. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Army and Marines. He was a retired mail carrier from the Buford Post Office after thirty years of service. He was a fireman with the Buford Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a member of the Buford American Legion Post 127, a former member of the Buford Housing Authority, and a former President of Buford Touchdown Club. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Buford. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. G. Stephen Wood officiating. iIntermentwill follow at Shadowlawn cemetery in Lawrenceville, GA with military honors. The Buford Housing Authority will serve as honorary escort. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Mr. Mike Kelley, age 62, of Buford, GA passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Jimmie Brogdon Kelley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dewitt and Rachel Sargent; and brother-in-law, John Pirkle. He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Elaine S. Kelley, Buford, GA; daughter, Crystal Michele Kelley, Buford, GA; grandson, Michael Sigler, Buford, GA; sister, Judy Kelley Pirkle, Buford, GA; nephew, Kelley Pirkle, Buford, GA; great niece, Kailey Pirkle, Buford, GA; aunt, Montie Brogdon Thompson, Buford, GA; extended family, Chris, Shannon and Ian Chandler, Flowery Branch, GA; several cousins; and beloved dog, Riley. Mr. Kelley was born August 12, 1948 in Atlanta, GA. He was a 1966 graduate of Buford High School in Buford, GA where he played baseball and basketball and attended college at Lanier Tech in Oakwood, GA. He was a four year Vietnam Veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a retired mail carrier from the Lawrenceville Post Office after thirty years of service. He was an original member of Roof Top Rowdies. He was a member of the Buford Athletic Association. Mike was a die hard Buford Fan and thought everything should be green. He was proud to be a part of the Buford Wolves. He attended First Baptist Church of Buford. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johnson and Mr. Dexter Wood officiating. iIntermentwill follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Flowers accepted or donations may be made to Peachtree Christian Hospice, 3430 Duluth Park Lane, Duluth, GA 30096 or to the Buford Athletic Association in memory of Mike Kelley.

Mrs. Catherine “Kate” Dougherty, age 80 of Winder, GA passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Jack Dougherty; and grandson, Jason Dougherty. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Fred Wolford, Winder, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cheryl Dougherty, Canton, GA, Dennis Dougherty, Marietta, GA and John and Geri Dougherty, Lawrenceville, GA; eight grandchildren, Kristina and Matthew Carter, Chaz and Savannah Wolford, Caitlyn Dougherty, Michael Dougherty, Jr., Allison Dougherty, John Dougherty III and wife Natalie, Lauren Dougherty and Michael Dougherty; four great grandchildren, Mikayla Carter, Garrett Carter, Hunter Wolford and Grey Dougherty. Mrs. Dougherty was born January 3, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch, GA. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Patrick Scully serving as the Celebrant. iIntermentwill follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m.

Mrs. Lisa d’Ann Rhines, age 43, Buford GA, passed away March 2nd, 2011. She is preceded in death by her mother, Paula G. Smith of Knoxville, TN. She is survived by her husband David A. Rhines; daughters Chandler Kate McGranaghan & Delaney Paige McGranaghan, sons Nicholas Robert Bates, and Hudson Alexander Rhines, step-daughters Allison Marie Rhines and Kiran Alexandra Rhines; father Paul & wife Dottie Edmonds, step-father Harvey Smith, sisters Kristen & husband Marty Stamps, Leslie & husband Robert James, step-sisters Belle & husband Kevin Six, Stephanie & husband Robert Cummins, Rebecca & husband Andy Clem and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Lisa was an associate with Keller Williams Realty and an active daughter, wife, mother, sister and neighbor. She held an associate’s degree from the Dallas College of Fashion and Merchandising. Services will be held at Buford First United Methodist Church, 285 E. Main St., Chaplin Jamie Patrick officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00PM-6:00PM at the church on March 7th, 2011 with services immediately thereafter. In-lieu of flowers, a donation to Lisa’s team in the Susan G. Mr. Clyde D. Doss, age 81, of Buford, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Barbara Jean Doss; brothers, Charlie M. Doss and Junior W. Doss; sisters, Edra Sexton and Mildred Nestor; first wife, Lucy E. Tucker Doss. He is survived by his son, Ricky D. Doss, West Virginia; daughters, Phyllis Jean and Chris Fagio, West Virginia; and Oletta Allene and David Brown, West Virginia; step children, Gary S. and Mary Stewart Lindsey, Marietta, GA, Bill and Carolyn Lindsey, Nashville, TN and Robert and Ann Lindsey, Newnan, GA; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Pearl Cameron, New York; Louelle “Blue” Koelling, Sullivan, MO, Lillie Cameron, New York and Barbara Williams, Wytheville, VA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Barker, Buford, GA, Rita Stafford, OH, Jungok Porter, Arlington, TX and Claudia Doss; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The entire family wants to thank Elaine Hester for her loving care of Clyde for the last ten weeks. Mr. Doss was born November 18, 1929 in Austinville, VA. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after forty years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sugar Hill and member of the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. He was an avid gardener. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Davidson and Rev. Vivian Pass Head, age 83, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Rudy, Marietta, GA; son, James D. Walker, Sugar Hill, GA; and grandson and wife, Lonnie and Betty Wilkins, Lawrenceville, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will be a private interment.

Mr. Richard Allen Bennett, age 79, of Dacula, GA passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Naomi Bennett, Dacula, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Michael Chettle, Dacula, GA; sons, John Wayne Bennett, Summersville, WV and Allen Ray Bennett, Summersville, WV; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Joann Masters, Nitro, WV. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Waters Funeral Home in Summersville, WV with Rev. William Johnson officiating. iIntermentwill follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens in Calvin, WV.

Mrs. Elizabeth (Lib) Gosnell Seavey, age 85, of Gainesville, GA and formerly of Buford, GA passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herbert (Herb) Warren Seavey and son, Walter Warren Seavey. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Marvin Anglin, Dahlonega, GA; daughter-in-law, Louann Seavey; granddaughters and husbands, Paula and Steve Henson, Canton GA., Hope and Jerry Chastain, Woodstock, GA., Holly and Chris Elliott, Houston, TX; grandson, Michael Seavey, Iowa; and three great grandsons, Dylan and Carson Henson and Tyler Chastain. Mrs. Seavey served on the Advisory Committee for the organization of the Abundant Life Fellowship at First Baptist Church of Buford and continued to serve as President for fourteen years. She also served on the re-organization Advisory Committee for the Gwinnett Council for Seniors. Visitation will be Saturday, February 26th between 4pm and 7pm at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, GA. Graveside services will be Sunday, February 27th at 3pm in the Masonic Garden at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. Rev. Wayne Johnson will be officiating. Family and friends will all assemble at the graveside by 2:50 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at Lanier Village Estates on March 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. A time of fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church in Buford, GA or Northlake Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA.

Mr. Edward Callahan, Jr., age 64, of Gainesville, GA passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Becky Callahan, Gainesville, GA; daughter, Donna Wilson, Gainesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Amy Callahan, Gainesville, GA; grandchild, Bella Callahan; sister, Ann Lucas, Gainesville, GA; brothers, Roger Callahan, Cleveland, GA, Danny Callahan, Cleveland, GA and Johnny Callahan, Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Callahan requested no memorial service and his remains have been cremated.

Mrs. Summerlin was born on February 21, 1922 in Paxton, FL. She was a graduate of Paxton High School and attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Buford, Abundant Life Fellowship, and the Bykota Sunday School Class. Mrs. Summerlin was retired from the Singer Company as a Sales Representative and a sewing instructor and from Nestle Hotels and Pineisle as a uniform supervisor. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Brooks officiating. iIntermentwill follow at Hillcrest cemetery in Buford, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Buford Building Fund.
